Hi Guys,
I just want to ask, you know there are some 3rd party cases with magnets as a replicate QuickWindow case of LG. I have bought one of them but now hesitate to use it because I read some articles that this kind of magnets might damage phone's touch sensor or camera in the long term if they use low quality magnets due to geomagnetic forces.
Do you agree with this or should we avoid to use cases with magnets like below that I have bought one?

On my old iPhone 4 I had a really poor quality flip cover with a magnet. The magnet was low quality and got weak over time but it didn't do my phone any harm.

Low quality magnets are weaker than good rare earth magnets so that part is definitely wrong. Also the placement is far enough away from the camera that I can't imagine it causing trouble for autofocus. LCD screens have no sensitivity to magnets so the only way I can see a problem there is if the material over the magnet is low quality and causes scratches. The only problem I have is with the compass so I remove the case when doing photospheres or anything that uses the compass.

An critical update:
I've been using above magnet quick window case, everything is fine but once I flip over the cover the screen does not go off always. It was not like this on my previous non-mgnet Quick Window case.
I started to think maybe rumours are right and this magnet damages something on the phone :silly:

I think the issue lies in the design of the case. The official Quick Window has a magnet or something that triggers the QuickWindow sensor which makes it turn off.
My above NILLKIN case is supporting screen on/off my problem it does not work perfect. Sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't.
That's why I want to give feedback here

Hello XDA,
I have just ordered myself the case in the picture as it´s described it is only 0.3 mm thin, but I am worried if this will protect my Note II from drops? What is your opinion?

Hi
I've got quite the same case and my phone fell down twice before I understood my jacket pocket had a hole in it...
The height was about 1.50 meters and the phone landed quite hard on the concrete.
No problem for the phone at all but the case have some scratches and a broken corner.
For the price and the slimness of this case I'm really happy and ordered the same one

Link to the case please! This is exactly what I am looking for. Does it come in different colors?

I have this case in gray. I like it, it doesnt add any bulk at all but its only good for scratch protection. It wont protect your phone from dropage. Another thing is its a pain in the ass to put on or take off because the tpu is not stretchable like silicones. I think its best paired up with a pouch.

Thank you everbody! Now I can die in peace...
it's not TPU or SILICON... it's plastic
I have the dark coloured version on my titanium gray Note II, it almost seems like naked :good:
I use it with a charger dock without problem. However, the original charger/data cable does not connect well to the phone, I have to use the cable from my Huawei P1.
be warned it offers almost no drop protection
the plastic will permanently deform on impact and required frequent removal and cleaning. dirt particles can be trapped under and cause scratches on your phone, unlike silicone cases.
Also its extremely tight fitting. remove it in the wrong corner and it will stretch out permanently and be loose fitting/deformed.
that said, its uber sexy and discreet. adds almost zero bulk to an already behemoth phone.
not sure i f mine was from the same seller, but the USB port cutout wasn't big enough for my USB plug causing the cable to fall out very easily and not charge the phone. a quick trim with a razor blade fixed it.
also i find it difficult to press the power and volume buttons. I wish the cutouts were a little more generous, but i didnt wanna muck with those 2, as it would be difficult to cut cleanly.
That is very nice, where did you get it, I am looking for one of this.

I just got a case/cover for my ZTC. As the title suggested, this is from INVENTCASE. Let's take a look at this.
I got mine from eBay

This is a synthetic leather, not a genuine (according to them). The material feels nice.

This thing came with a magnet so it is a smart cover.. in a way. It will turn the screen on once you flip it open.
You got a cut out for the speaker at the bottom.
and top.
Cut out for Power/Volume buttons.
and for USB port.
Stand position.
One BIG cons for this cover is that the fitting is kinda loose so the cut out hole for camera won't align.
You can push it a little to make them align but it will slide back to the original position.
This will cause vignetting when you use a camera.
If you adjust your tablet the vignette will reduce but not goes away. Hugh downside for me.
So.. what's your opinion? For me I like this one especially the color. The camera problem, however, keep me looking for another case. Until I found the perfect one for me, this will stay on my tablet.
Thank yo ufor the photos and review. I personally do not opt for any case with bezels around, THat's like 10 years old design...
Yep, I personally don't like that either but I used to use the cheapo case with the mounting like the official Sony cover and it scratch my iPad.
So when I browse for the cover with some new color (I don't like the sony cover color choices) on ebay there are only some Chinese cheapo. I try to stay away from that.

Cheap design but thanks for the review. You should review the official Sony cover. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/style-cover-stand-scr28/

iPads are just very easy to scratch because of material used, while I don't beleive that the Z3TC can be scratched that easily. Moreover, good cases have the soft materials inside the case.
I picked up the Supcase armband case from Amazon since it has openings for all the features of the phone so you can still use it during a workout (Camera, audio jack, spen, fingerprint reader). The case material is a very thin flexible rubber but when put onto the phone actually feels pretty solid with a good fit. Due to how light this phone is, when attached to your arm it does not bounce around much at all though I thought it might initially. The strap loops through a slot in the back of the rubber case which could be a point of failure, but that doesn't seem to be much of an issue if the strap is tight enough since it really doesn't bounce around. Time will tell about the durability. I intend to mostly use it for biking so bouncing around is not as much of a concern than it would be for running (it really doesn't move much at all). I'll update after I give it a few rounds of use. Attached are pics.

My wife has this case for her LG G4. She like it a lot as it seems to be very reliable when she goes running everyday. She also likes the fact that you can use it as a case without the strap. She has the pink one.

Yeah forgot to mention that part but I'm probably going to stick to my other case for daily driver purposes. I grabbed this one since you can still use the fingerprint reader and I heard those other ones with the plastic film over the screen limit it's usage.

That's true. I had a few from amazon that hindered the scanner's use. Only case I found that doesn't but does have a protector is from Supcase that's also water resistant(not waterproof).
I love this armband. Just enough opening find fingerprint

Need this for fallout 4 so I can finally use my note as my pipboy
I bought a leather case with a magnetic closing "flap". This magnet causes interference with the spen while drawing. That's not a big issue, cuz it works fine when N9 is removed out of case. But my concern is if it can do permanent damage to internal mech of N9 since the phone is in the case the majority of time.
Anyone with good knowledge of these things?
Don't think so.
It's the way that the S-Pen interacts with the digitizer and the magnetic field disturbs that interaction.

Thx, but I need to be sure.
There are reports in the Galaxy Tab S3' forum that this can permanently damage your device. Some have reported that ther screen has dead spots even after removing the case.
I would swap the case out for one with weaker magnets.

If you need to be sure, ask Samsung!
It should have zero impact on the display itself but we can't be sure about the S pen digitizer. Personally, I'm doubtful it would have any effect though, they're designed to work with these cases.
In my experience any case with magnet clips like that mess with S-Pen functionality. Depending on where the magnet is, I noticed that when I was using my pen to type something on my keyboard, certain characters wouldn't register a touch because of the magnet.
I can't speak to long-term permanent issues but for me anything that messes with my S-Pen is no longer an option. I just don't understand why case makers who make wallet cases for ANY Note device thinks using magnetic clips is a good idea. Make them a simple metal (non-magnetic) clip or Velcro.
There are options out there without any magnets in them. I'd recommend to be safer than sorry and pick one of them.
Update:
Called Samsung, they said they don't recommend third party cases. And if there is permanent damage in long term because of the magnet it won't fall under guarantee. I said it was a Note 9 specific case from a good brand bought in a good consumer electronics store.. they repeated the script..
Called the store, the guy said it won't cause any long-term damage, just the interference when phone is in case en thus magnet is close to phone.. I don't know how good this guys knowledge is about the technical side of this..
Got this one, looks really nice on the phone, used Spigen before, but this case is much better protection for OnePlus 7T. Feels very grippy in a hand too. Check it on Amazon, can't add a picture but added it on Amazon.

I have this. Doesnt work well with gestures because the front lip extends so much. Protection wise, its top notch. No complains about protection.
If you guys dont use gestures, u should be fine.

Nope, maybe it's fingers size or the way you swipe... donno. Nevertheless, it's a great case and I love it.
Just got mine a few hours ago. I don't use gestures so that's no big deal, but I like it. The only thing that's kind of annoying is adjusting the mechanical switch to control silent, vibrate etc. It's kind of buried, but I'll get used to it. This is the first two piece case I've had and it seems pretty solid. Much easier to type with my huge hands. Not hitting things with my palm any longer.
I literally just got mines today. I wouldn't call it a grippy case but it definitely has a good amount of protection.
The downside is that it's a little more bulky than it's like and the raised lip around the edges hinders gesture performance.
