I bought a leather case with a magnetic closing "flap". This magnet causes interference with the spen while drawing. That's not a big issue, cuz it works fine when N9 is removed out of case. But my concern is if it can do permanent damage to internal mech of N9 since the phone is in the case the majority of time.
Anyone with good knowledge of these things?
Don't think so.
It's the way that the S-Pen interacts with the digitizer and the magnetic field disturbs that interaction.

Thx, but I need to be sure.
There are reports in the Galaxy Tab S3' forum that this can permanently damage your device. Some have reported that ther screen has dead spots even after removing the case.
I would swap the case out for one with weaker magnets.

If you need to be sure, ask Samsung!
It should have zero impact on the display itself but we can't be sure about the S pen digitizer. Personally, I'm doubtful it would have any effect though, they're designed to work with these cases.
In my experience any case with magnet clips like that mess with S-Pen functionality. Depending on where the magnet is, I noticed that when I was using my pen to type something on my keyboard, certain characters wouldn't register a touch because of the magnet.
I can't speak to long-term permanent issues but for me anything that messes with my S-Pen is no longer an option. I just don't understand why case makers who make wallet cases for ANY Note device thinks using magnetic clips is a good idea. Make them a simple metal (non-magnetic) clip or Velcro.
There are options out there without any magnets in them. I'd recommend to be safer than sorry and pick one of them.
Update:
Called Samsung, they said they don't recommend third party cases. And if there is permanent damage in long term because of the magnet it won't fall under guarantee. I said it was a Note 9 specific case from a good brand bought in a good consumer electronics store.. they repeated the script..
Called the store, the guy said it won't cause any long-term damage, just the interference when phone is in case en thus magnet is close to phone.. I don't know how good this guys knowledge is about the technical side of this..

I was taking some notes in the app Skitch and found out that I can't draw on the right edge of the screen. I only found this out recently since apps like S-Memo don't extend to full-screen so you can never write till the edge of the screen while in apps like Skitch and SBM you can utilize the entire screen.
Here's a pic for better explanation...

Please test this for me and post your results. It's been bugging the hell outta me! I'm thinking of going to the service centre.
Hi,
do you have any kind of cover with some magnets maybe ?
Magnetic fields affect the s-pen. I had a cover which had a magnet and it affected the s-pen
in a way I couldn't write in the edge close to the magnet....
pretty sure its a known issue

Nope. Just a plastic cover. Its frikkin annoying at times while taking notes!
since we are talking about the S-Pen here, i would like to know how to improve the accuracy of the S-Pen. i did a accuracy test and the pen was WAY OFF.
I tested some more and found out that there's a similar issue with the bottom edge of the screen, only much worse. There's a decent amount of area where the pen doesn't work.
As a request, could somebody please test this out? Try Skitch (or preferably Zen Brush or SketchBookMobile since they're completely full-screen). I've already tested on a friends Note and she doesn't have this problem. If I'm a lone case, I'll try the service centre.
EDIT: If someone does test this, try to draw along all the edges.
I was just about to make a new thread when I saw yours. I have the same issue.
I am right-handed and the phone's setting is set to right-handed, this is how it looks when I draw a line from the left side of the screen all the way to the right until the S-Pen disconnects from the screen:
You can clearly see that the line is cut-off ~0.5cm before the edge. If I hold the S-Pen in the left hand and drag a line from right-to-left, I get the same effect on the left side of the screen. Disappointing.
-EDIT: Oh, crap, I thought this was the Note 2 subforum.
I just posted this in the G2x forums, but I figured you guys might find it useful as well...
I just got a 2800MAH Anker Extended battery from ebay, and unfortunately, my TPU case didn't fit over the extended case back. FatalityBoyZahy suggested that I cut the back of the TPU case off to make it fit, and this is what I did.
What you need:
Generic TPU Case
Xacto Knife/Some sort of Cutting Implement
Patience
Optional:
File
Match/Lighter/Some sort of small controlled flame
What I did was cut the back of the case, a little at a time, until it fit over my phone with the extended battery in. I ended up taking most of the back off before it fit.
I'm not that great with an Xacto, so the cut was bumpy and jaggedy. I used a file to even it out as best I could. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I wanted a clean edge. So, I used matches to melt the cut edge, and when it dried it was a clean, almost factory finish.

Final thoughts...
I think that It came out pretty well. One thing that I do notice is that the sides dont hug the phone like they used to... I think that this is because the profile is slightly different now and I left a decent amount of material. You could probably fix this if you cut a bit more. Its no big deal and you can still press all the buttons. From a distance, this seems like a manufactured case. You can only tell that it's diy'ed when you look at it from close up. Also, I think that using the file wasn't necessary because if you hold the flame there long enough you should be able to melt it down to be even. But don't hold the flame at one place too long... I had my case catch fire once
Cases are cheap, give it a shot
how secure is the case imean it lowers the damage of a fall or it's just like look nice case ?

It fits pretty snugly on the phone, so it should be just as secure as using a tpu case (other than the exposed back of course). I haven't dropped it yet thankfully, but it fits on pretty tightly and wouldn't fall off or anything... I'm pretty pleased with how it came out!
Hi Guys,
I just want to ask, you know there are some 3rd party cases with magnets as a replicate QuickWindow case of LG. I have bought one of them but now hesitate to use it because I read some articles that this kind of magnets might damage phone's touch sensor or camera in the long term if they use low quality magnets due to geomagnetic forces.
Do you agree with this or should we avoid to use cases with magnets like below that I have bought one?

On my old iPhone 4 I had a really poor quality flip cover with a magnet. The magnet was low quality and got weak over time but it didn't do my phone any harm.

Low quality magnets are weaker than good rare earth magnets so that part is definitely wrong. Also the placement is far enough away from the camera that I can't imagine it causing trouble for autofocus. LCD screens have no sensitivity to magnets so the only way I can see a problem there is if the material over the magnet is low quality and causes scratches. The only problem I have is with the compass so I remove the case when doing photospheres or anything that uses the compass.

An critical update:
I've been using above magnet quick window case, everything is fine but once I flip over the cover the screen does not go off always. It was not like this on my previous non-mgnet Quick Window case.
I started to think maybe rumours are right and this magnet damages something on the phone :silly:

I think the issue lies in the design of the case. The official Quick Window has a magnet or something that triggers the QuickWindow sensor which makes it turn off.
My above NILLKIN case is supporting screen on/off my problem it does not work perfect. Sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't.
That's why I want to give feedback here
First and foremost, this is the best case I have used for my Galaxy S6 Edge. I have had this case for a few days, and the only complaint sI have is the edges can sometimes be rough to the palm when holding the phone in portrait, and that the thickness of the case prevents the use of my wireless charger. The cutouts are all perfectly centered on the phone, and it has great lip protection around the screen. The mix of black and white accents looks stylish, and the metal buttons look and feel great. They don't stick out too far from the case, which is better at preventing accidental presses. There's really nothing else I can say about this case other than everyone should have this case.

Hi there Theaccomplice88! Thank you so much for your helpful feedback, it definitely helps us out in coming up with better designs for our future products as well as improve the designs that we currently have available, we appreciate it!
@NoFanboy,
To some, it may appear ugly. To some, it might just seem average. If anything, some may even say "Your last case was way hotter." But what matters are the insides. This case is tough. Exec tough to be exact. It marches onward into the world of peril and danger, knowing that no matter what, it's got you covered. It has your phones back. This case is reliable, and above all else, it has a great personality.
Roo-spectfully yours,
Bev
I picked up the Supcase armband case from Amazon since it has openings for all the features of the phone so you can still use it during a workout (Camera, audio jack, spen, fingerprint reader). The case material is a very thin flexible rubber but when put onto the phone actually feels pretty solid with a good fit. Due to how light this phone is, when attached to your arm it does not bounce around much at all though I thought it might initially. The strap loops through a slot in the back of the rubber case which could be a point of failure, but that doesn't seem to be much of an issue if the strap is tight enough since it really doesn't bounce around. Time will tell about the durability. I intend to mostly use it for biking so bouncing around is not as much of a concern than it would be for running (it really doesn't move much at all). I'll update after I give it a few rounds of use. Attached are pics.

My wife has this case for her LG G4. She like it a lot as it seems to be very reliable when she goes running everyday. She also likes the fact that you can use it as a case without the strap. She has the pink one.

Yeah forgot to mention that part but I'm probably going to stick to my other case for daily driver purposes. I grabbed this one since you can still use the fingerprint reader and I heard those other ones with the plastic film over the screen limit it's usage.

That's true. I had a few from amazon that hindered the scanner's use. Only case I found that doesn't but does have a protector is from Supcase that's also water resistant(not waterproof).
I love this armband. Just enough opening find fingerprint
