Sony future update and sd card - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, will sony allows in next update "Move to sd card" feature?i want to buy Z1 or Z Ultra, but if i can't move to sd, with 16GB i'm completly lost!

Nobody know if will be that option in Kitkat 4.4. At the moment there is no way with a stock 4.3. Only if you are rooted you can use some 3rd part app which will not solve definitely the problem but will help, like Folder Mount.

[Q] SD card issues with new kitkat builds

Hi,
I have been using both stock, CM builds and other after market roms from my xperia x10 mini pro days. Now, I own an xperia mini pro and xperia z. I have installed various kitkat aftermarket roms on my xperia z. I installed the latest cm11, From here I could not change any contents on my SD card. Within the phone I cannot copy to or delete from the sd card. I tried all file managers including the ones with root permissions. I removed the sd card and tried direct copying. The fun is copying will be succesful. But once I unmount and remount the card, the contets wouldnt have changed. I try to format the card. It will get formatted but once I unmount and remount all the previous contents are intact. I the flashed back 4.3. There again the issue persisted.
I had the same issue with my xperia mini pro and cm11. Since then this is my second sd card(32 gb on mini pro and 64 gb on xperia z). I know there are certain issues with kitkat and sd cards. Can anybody please throw some light on resolving this issue. I am a rom hopper and I dont like to be cornered with these issues.
But strangely, I never had any issues with pabx's build.

You should ask in that specific thread of the rom you're using instead of here.
I think this is a generic issue
I think this is a generic issue. It eminates from the point that the majority of the after market roms are using bits from the CM project, Thanx for the reply. What I want to know here is does kitkat do anything to the sd card which cannot be washed away after even attempting a format?

Did you try to format the sd card with your pc? Does the pc even recognize it correctly?
If you have problems while on a stock rom, then I suggest that you backup your data, then format the SD card with the SD Association tool - https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
If possible, you should do this via a card reader/slot and not while it's in the phone.
If you still have problems, then your card may be faulty.

Yes, the format was tried on pc
The format operation was tried both on windows and Arch Gnu/Linux. I can add or delete a file. But after remount, the changes are gone. It is like I am having a write once DVD.
sorry for resurrecting this thread but has anyone found a way to fix the issue?
Just like the others, I encountered the problem after I downgraded from Kitkat to Jellybean. I have tried formatting my 64Gb Transcend micro SD card using various softwares. Some fail to format midway. Some indicate that it has been successfully formatted but upon checking, the contents are not removed.
Due to a policy change in Kitkat it is, for most apps, not allowed to change the content on the SD card. To fix this, root the device and install de SDFix from the play store.

Do I have to root it using Jellybean or Kitkat?

Xperia z idea for install to sd card

Hellow guys , I was thinking about the issue that xperia z cannot transfer apps to sd card without partition and staff like that. I was thinking if we can programm the rom to have all 16gbs as system memory and mount as internal sotrage the sd card?
Theres already a way for that but its for 4.1.2. If you can make it work with 4.3, that will be good.

[Q] Problem with External SD Card on Lollipop .242

I had upgraded to lollipop firmware .242 by using pre-rooted flashable zip and do a full wipe.
The problem is I can't mount external sd in storage settings but I can use root explorer to manage file on my external sd card.
but in file commander there is no external sd card storage showing
All my music on external sd card can play on Walkman app. I have to remove my external sd card and re-insert it to make it working normally.
But when I restart it's goes the same again.
Can anyone help me to fix this problem ?
Thanks.

Lollipop's Move Apps to SD feature Question.

Hello! Guys.
I updated my phone to LP 5.0.2 10.6.A.0.454 & Tried Moving "Fifa15 Ultimate Team (1.25GB)" to SD Card using the settings>apps> Move to SD button, it said that it's on SD card now, yet the game couldn't start & showed the "Looking for resources to download" notification, I still haven't tried this with other apps.
So Have anyone tried the new feature & succeeded moving an app to the sd card ?!
P.S Game works fine while on Internal Storage, & I have a backup of the obb folder
Xperia ZR C5502.
5.0.2 10.6.A.0.454.
Not Rooted
Kingston Class 10 16 gb SD-Card.
It may be that this game wont work on sd card.
Not all games and apps support this.
Try another game and see.
There are way to fix it if you are rooted, searh for foldermount.

Thank you.
I know about foldermount & the xposed module obb2sd & stuff like this, I just hoped that the new feature would work without problems
Hi,
I think it is not fail of sony feature, but fail from EA. As I remember from android 2.3.7 where is also possible move apps to sd card, EA games fail too after move to sd.

Swap internal memory and external card on Xperia zr Lollipop 5.1.1??

Hi,
Anybody know how to swap internal memory and sd card in 5.1.1 on xperia zr . Because internal memory is low in 5.1.1 update. :crying:
Thanks in advance..:good::good:
Doing that is dangerous, and should not be done if you have any other alternative. I would suggest using a combination of FolderMount and Link2SD instead.
If you still want to swap them... In not aware of any guide specifically for our device, but I think I did see one a while back for all devices in general. Search Google/xda for it, and if you find it, don't do it unless you're sure you can handle what they're asking you to do, and that you can reverse it.
