Hi guys,
a friend of mine has a huge problem with his rooted P970 (android 2.3): after installing an update, the system only boots into ClockworkMod, rebooting from there only goes into the CWM Recovery again. Holding VOL-UP when the phone is connected to the computer and even holding HOME+VOL-DOWN will boot the CWM. VOL-UP within CWM doesn't work as well. Factory Reset and installing a ROM from CWM doesn't make a difference either.
So we tried to install a firmeware via SmartFlash (V20N). But the problem is that the COM-port only appears for few seconds until the CMW is completely booted, than it vanishes again. So we really have now idea what to do next.
Thanks for your help!
You need to pull out the battery, insert it again, DONT POWER ON THE PHONE! Now hold VOL+ Button, then plug in the USB cable and you should see the software update screen, then use smartflash. OR in CWM, wipe data, cache, in advanced wipe dalvik, try to install a custom ROM like boype's CM7 kang, have fun
Hello,
Here is my problem, wanting to flash a theme on my Xperia Z, I had to perform a cache cleaning, this one was unusually long (~5minutes), so I brutally shut down the phone via power + volume up.
I wasn't aware of:
Phone hangs when cleaning cache?
Just leave it for a few minutes, it's needs some time to clean cache

Unfortunately it is now impossible for me to get back to the recovery (LED turns green but does not change to purple while holding volume up).
I already tried:
- Reinstall CWM recovery
- Install TWRP recovery hoping "overwrite" CWM (does not work either)
- Uninstall TWRP recovery
- Use the "reboot in recovery" option via clockworkmod and application TWRP (just reboot the phone normally)
edit:
- I now tried to do a factory reset but it's not working, nothing happen when I click "erase all data", can't tell if it's related though...
Having no other ideas I think it would be best to totally remove CWM recovery (via adb ?) and then reinstall it "properly"
Thanks
Update: Just tried to do a factory reset via settings but I doesn't work, nothing happen when I click "erase all data", can't tell if it's related though. Is there any other way to do a factory reset so I can go back to normal ?
Thanks

If your TWRP recovery still exists it should show up. Turn off your phone and remove the battery. Now re-insert the battery and connect your phone via USB to your laptop (dont switch on the phone, it will switch on into the recovery mode automatically) and after 2-3 seconds your phone should automatically turn on with the recovery menu screen. Let me know what happens.
I was running a custom plain AOSP Rom.
Then i wanted to flash another ROM, so i went to recovery(TWRP), after the full wipe, including, System, data, cache and dalvik cache, I accidentally rebooted, now the phone wont boot up, stays at sony logo, which makes sense since it has no system.
The main ISSUE is that it wont go into either Fastboot(Volume up + Cable) or FlashMode(Volume Down + Cable). So i cant flash any kernel or recovery.
i have roms in my SD but there is no recovery ..... WHAT TO DO ?
Its a Black Useless brick right now.

But are you trying this while the phone is off? Flashmode/fastboot mode doesn't get wiped with a Full Wipe in recovery, or at least not by wiping any of the partitions you mentioned.

No i am trying with that phone off, (also the phone doesnt turn on, just gets stuck at sony when i turn it on like there is no recovery or OS), but i am doing it the right way, phone off, Volume up + cable insert, it should be detected in fastboot mode with a blue light and i would flash a recovey img through flashtool , but nothings happening NO lights and NO detection on pc whatsoever, i have done this many times before, on my X8 and also on this T.
I have no idea how is there no fastboot and no recovery ? what could have happened ?
Plus i have noticed nothing also happens when i plug it in on charge doesnt even budge !
Hi guys.
Today I started to do some things with my phone.
Where I wanted to give wipes to factory reset it. But to do it i just formated SYSTEM. In DUALRECOVERY INSTALLED I just formated SYSTEM only
Now to start my phone (power on) this stays in the SONY logo and does not advance more. I tried to flash it with flashtool but my z1 does not recognize it and it stays in the red LED.
Not recognized SONY PCC and Flashtool.
What can i do ?
I'm hoping you can help me..
Put some custom rom on SD card, and try to install it.
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Free mobile app

but now i cant enter to dual recovery.
i think i delete it when i formated the system.
When i turn on my phone this stays in SONY logo.
no LED lights
Formatting system will wipe EVERYTHING on system partition plus loss of recovery, root and won't boot.
I recommend TWRP recovery if you want to do a factory reset.
Enter in flashmode by turning off phone holding down power and volume up at the same time (phone will vibrate thrice).
Make sure your doesn't boot suddenly then hold down volume- and connect usb. See if green led KEEPS on, now check on Flashtool if device is connected.
If its connected properly now flash you ftf file and root again. Never wipe system or other partition again! Do factory reset under androids settings-> backup and reset option.
fixed
The problem was the battery.
This was discharged. In flashtool could not recognize it.
I left it charging in the SONY logo 2 hours.
flashtool and then try again successfully managed to fix it.
Thanks to a backup I regained some things.
THANK YOU ALL.
