Hi, after updated my Note 3 to 4.4.2, my Gear Manager is unstable, it hangs when I'm trying to enter settings or contacts, screen goes black and then i get a FC.
I have searched (like always) but haven't found any solution.
I have tried everything (clear data app, uninstalled GM, wipe my both Gears, nothing changed)
I have made a clean flash of KK on my Note 3.
I have also downgraded GM to 1.5 from 1.6...
I have no more idea of what I can do now.
Fortunately, both Gears works as they should but this GM issues drive me crazy.
Gears are running last ML1 (stock, unroot)
Any help/advice is welcome.
Cheers, Ros

I have the same problem. I remember reading somewhere that you need to have 1.6 for it to work with Kitkat, but it constantly crashes when entering settings. However i'm not sure if 1.6 has been officially released yet? I'm pretty sure it wasn't when i installed it 2 days ago, so hopefully it will have been fixed when it's hopefully very soon officially released, can't imagine Samsung officially releasing obviously broken software.

i cannot view exchange mails anymore on the device since upgrade to kit kat and new GM
Sounds like it is best to either use old versions, or wait for official. 1.6 and ml1 are leaks
I have the same problem..what I do uninstall gm 1.6..download gm 1.5 at samsung store..reset the gear n not restoring the gear bakup..I have to reset it twice n reboot the phone then it all ok now..im using official poland KK with null 19 (ml1) on gear..

Stick to official 1.5 version, it is still solid stable, just a bit slow when connecting, wait Samsung release official 1.6, I believe they is some issue on it, that why still not yet get release. Current appear 1.6 is leak version.
By the way I am under MK7 official release for my GEAR ROM, not the leak ML21 as well.

Having seen the problems that KK has brought with it, there is no way I'm letting that software anywhere near my phone or gear. I realise there are those of you that simply MUST HAVE the latest updates, even before they are tested properly, but this update IS NOT READY yet. The differences between JB4.3 and KK 4.4 are so minimal, its just not worth the risk or download at this time. As the old saying goes...."if it ain't Broke........"!!!

I never regret updates to KitKat and it is official, it is the best ROM so far I use in Note 3. The smoothness is no way any 4.3 ROM can compare. Also this KitKat ROM is solid stable. I don't have GEAR connection or FC issue, if you look against all facing problem is cause of using leak ML1 GEAR ROM + Leak Gear Manager 1.6
The only issue at KitKat is SD card writable issue which can be simply fix and that actually not really Samsung problem but instead KitKat change the requirement, any apps that had that issue just need the dev updates it to fulfill KitKat requirement.
The counterfeit S View cover not working is not a bugs but obvious Samsung did to stop the counterfeit.

Hey Guys I got my galaxy note today! it's awesome!!!....but...I immediately tried to check for updates... but after agreeing with the terms and conditions, it says "Registration is failed. Try Again?".
How can I get around this and update my device OTA?
Here's my phone info:
Model: Galaxy Note GT-N7000
Android: 2.3.6
Baseband: N7000XXKK5
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXKKA
have you tried installing Kies on your PC, then connecting the Phone via cable so that Kies can update it?
4.0 isn't available through OTA atm so you'd need to do the Kies thing

I'm doing that right now! Thanks! ... I guess my Galaxy Nexus habits are hard to break! LOL!
Sorry to hijack the thread but I also got my G.Note, but yesterday . Got it from Amazon Germany, and as soon as I took it out and connected it to the Wifi Internet it said that it had found the OTA update for the ICS.
I cancelled the update as I was not sure if it was worth it. I hear so many people saying that Gingerbread runs smoothly but that ICS is a pain. I also hear about all the camera bugs, etc that ICS has.
The question I have is: Should I keep with Gingerbread for a while longer or should I just update to ICS?
Thank you all for your advice.

I have tried Criskelo ICS, CM9, Stunner, Liquid Smooth and various GB roms. Even though I like some features of the ICS rom, I eventually settle for Chrack GB rom. It run smooth with good battery life and I have no problem runing all the applications I needs. I suggest that you use your GB rom for awhile before trying to update.

there were several updates to note (at least on mine, Base/Eplus Contract btw)
before ICS, and since ICS is not yet available OTA i think you can hit update on your phone until there are none left, then you should have the most recent Gingerbread version.
for ICS, see last post: Kies update^^
Sadly i already did the Samsung Kies update to ICS and now i have some battery problems (google cloud service and several other Wakelocks draining like a *****)
apart from that little problem ICS is working fine
Hi all and thank you for your input.
As for the last post from Aiphares, I can confirm that there is an OTA update for ICS for my phone.
If I hit update it says that an important 4.0 ROM is available and that it will be 316mb (if I remember it correctly). If I wanted to update now or later.
So I did hit later to see what your replies would be, as I did not want to be one of those asking for help how to revert to gingerbread because my phone could have horrible battery drain, or any other known ICS bug.
I would really like to have a working ICS on my phone, and hopefully something that would improve the S Pen, so that I could actually use it for my daily annotations (minutes of meetings, etc.).
Why can't Android battery just improve, I remember that from Froyo to Gingerbread the battery got much better. Well we can't have it all with these dual cores running in our pockets.
As for the custom ROMs I first want to try the official ones, and if I am am not happy with them, I'll read and read so to prevent triangles and than I'll try a Custom stable ROM.

Please do you people even read this forum?? If i was you and read all the threads about bugs (eMMC) etc. etc. i wanted to wait a bit more. Ok, you just might get lucky (or not) and wipe the phone ten times but if you're not prepare to go to the store and claim your warranty !!!
Please read the topics about bugs on ICS.

well if you feel uncomfortable you can always wait it out, i'm sure there will be more ICS updates and bugfixes
Hi guys,
I just want to ask if it is possible to flash any 4.2.2 Rom over a 4.3 one without changing the Bootloader or Modem (as far as I know kernel there are no other things updated in 4.3 except some features in stock Rom and kernel). I'm sorry if there is a thread like this one out there but I couldn't find it on my phone app
Thanks in advance for your time and help

4.3's stock kernel sucks hard. I've experienced "unexpectedly closed" errors with certain apps and the device sometimes reboots itself without apparent reason. Had to flash the latest franco's nightly kernel in order to get this faulty release somewhat stable.
Nice GoinGoogle.

It is possible with custom recovery, not possible with fastboot without updating the bootloader. You may use any modem. You need 4.3 kernel.
EDIT: my bad, it was other way around. Yes, it is possible.
4.3 stinks like hot garbage. I'm not upgrading, and I'm going to downgrade my new N7 to 4.2.2 if possible. 4.3 is like windows ME.
I still have 4.2.2 on my N4 and have only tried 4.3 on my Kindle Fire. From my experience I have little interest in upgrading my N4 for the time being, since 4.3.x will likely fix all the JSS and JWR issues.

I think your problem is caused by your usage pattern / apps which are not updated for 4.3, combined with unstable root. Don't blame Google unless you experience the same behaviour on unrooted stock.

Wrong.
I experienced those crashes while on stock, even with google applications. that's a faulty release, not faulty device nor usage. for god sake, even "settings" menu has "unexpectedly closed" on me once.

I have had totally different experience with 4.2.2. To be honest I didn't like it at all. I didn't find it as "rock solid" as many other users here. (I came from Galaxy Nexus. Android 4.2 compared to really rock solid jzo54k 4.1.2 was imo buggy as hell. It didn't bring any performance boost but rather did the opposite: BT, WIFI issues, mem leak etc.) Plus I found this low touch sensitivity extremaly irritating. I use rooted stock 4.3 and so far I haven't noticed any bigger issues. Even if I do I really don't see a point to go back to still buggy 4.2.2. I think my device performs much better on 4.3. Maybe it's just a placebo effect, but it feels snappier and smoother. Just my subjective opinion.
Of course I do understand people that miss their favorite custom roms, whose 4.3-versions are still unavailable.
4.2.2 had and has clearly wifi/bt issues (major data stalls, difficulties in re-enabling bt after 20-30 hours of uptime).
These issues were solved. however, I'd expect 4.3 to be as stable as it can be, especially when it took more than 5 months for its release. Unfortunately, that's not the case. not even close, which is rather embarrassing.
I really was expecting for iOS-like smoothness and stability by now.

Maybe that's been your experience but my experience has been the exact opposite. It's made my N4 even more of a pleasure to use. It's smoother, snappier, and battery life is amazing. Mind you, I've never really had any problems with 4.2.2 except maybe GPS locking problems, which 4.3 solved. The only real problem with 4.3 is this whole JWR/JSS nonsense.

Not sure what's going on your end but my phone has been rock solid with no FCs at all since upgrading to 4.3 using the factory image (I never go the OTA route)
In case you're both running a stock 4.3 (unrooted), you're more than welcomed to run "angry gran run - running game" by ace viral and watch it boldly & proudly crash. If not on beginning, after few minutes. Just only one example out of many.

Not sure if this is the right place but here goes.
I am on AOKP milestone 1 might update to milestone 2 soon. But what do I have to keep in mind when making the jump to 4.3? Will I be able to downgrade later without problems? I dont understand the modems and bootloader stuff. Plus if I flash 4.3 I will lose root, so how do I flash 4.3 without loosing root? do I root the phone again after flashing? or is there a shortcut?

Android 4.3 ROMs require radio version .84 (or a hybrid 27/84 or 33/84 radio) and bootloader version makoz20i. As Thibaultvw points out radio version .84 and bootloader version makoz20i are both available as flashable zip files and should both be installed before installing a 4.3 based ROM. In addition, Android 4.3 requires SuperSU version 1.51 for working root privileges.
After upgrading the radio and bootloader for Android 4.3, you can restore or install an Android 4.2.2 ROM without changing the bootloader or radio.

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a way to update my S4 Active to KitKat 4.4.2 or up.
I am currently on 4.2.2, rooted and I have CWM. Below is abit more information about my device:
Model: GT-I9295
BB: XXUAMF7
I am unable to use the OTA and Kies method to update so my last resort is to manually install it myself, the only problem is I can't find where to download the firmware that I need.
If anyone is able to point me in the direction of where it can be downloaded that would be great.
Thanks

You can get your stock android frimwares from either Samsung updates or sammobile(samfirmware).
cwm + root = the road is open for latest Android 4.4.4 AOSP
I've tried unofficial /experimental CM11 for some weeks and had some quirks with Bluetooth and camera. Switch to Carbon built July 29th and this has working BT car connection. The camera has more options for tuning.
Carbon http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51466872
Google Apps (gapps) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50632468
- this is the repaired version offered by goo.im/gapps
Or do like most others and search for interesting projects in xda forum S4 Active Development or S4 Active Original Development.

I'm interested in downloading the "Carbon" version that you spoke about in your post. Is the link you provided the one that you downloaded? Have you noticed many bugs?

That makes sense I guess.
Well I managed to download and flash an official 4.2.2 firmware to my phone. Unfortunately it seems like samsung haven't pushed out the 4.4.2 update for Australia yet.
They have pushed it out for New Zealand which is basically just around the corner, so it's odd why they wouldn't do it for Australia.
Do you know of any way to flash an official version of KitKat from another country, say the New Zealand version. What harm can it actually do?
Thanks

On SFR document leak says january 2015
i've received a update for the S-health that brought the material design for the app, with the same kind of colors/design that we have seen on the leaked Note 3 Lollipop ROM.
unfortunately i've flashed another rom today and the s-health app doesn't have updated again yet.
i'd also donate for a knox protection / bypass.
If it is 5.01 then they can keep it. Kit Kat atm is fine don't need memory leaks.
Lfg 5.02 or 5.03 as they like
Delay in receiving the update is adding me frustration!!!!
Here's a LINK to the manual for those interested.
Pretty sure it's been a few days now, so I guess it wasn't really imminent at all
there are major bugs with the current lollipop - memory leak and GPS non functional. would hope samsung releases only after fixing those two major issues.
At first when I read this, I thought the Lollipop update was available manually, as in not OTA but if you search manually via Kies or smth. But it was THE manual.
I guess it says more about me being to eager about Lollipop than anything else.
Anyway good info, downloaded it

What a surprise that my wifes s5 got it last night. Seems pretty cool so far. I am just so curious why samsung has to have multiple csc firmwares to where as have one firmware and adjust accordingly. The average user should not have to wait any longer than the next user. Meaning I have a csc of VIA for o2 germany and yet I am sure it wont get Loliipop till way after DBT debital Germany. Luckily I am not the average user and will flash whichever comes first!
Sammobile just said lollipop for note 4 next month.

i think the update will have been slowed down due to sammy working v5 and testing only for 5.0.1 emerging so dumping v5 and starting again on 5.0.1. now 5.0.2 has emerged. i want lollipop sooner rather than later but more than that i want it to work flawlessly so im prepared to wait for the update that works rather than getting it now with issues

Ok
what the best stock version of kitkat to get the best battery life?
I install the israeli version and i get same battery life like lollipop
thanks
I would highly recommending installing the stock version of KitKat that is released for your country.
Yes, i've just done this myself. I got the phone last week, and in amongst all the other 9 million pop-ups that Samsung provide, I accidently pressed yes to upgrade to lollipop.
I ran it for a day and the lag was terrible, so I have now gone back to KitKat. As above, I just went for stock for my country. It seems a lot better now. Once they release another lollipop patch i'll update. It's a shame, as I still think my htc one m8 is slightly faster. It feels more responsive. Anyway, thats off topic.
As above, just use Odin. I'm new to modding Samsung devices really, but managed it easy enough following the various guides around.
Did you guys have to factory reset your device after the downgrade?
If so, does the Kies application backup function safe the application data (logged in accounts, safegames, application settings etc.) too?
