Hi, in some few days i will recive s3 mini, i was just thinking if it can be overclocked, i dont know why it cannot be, is a phone like from 2 years ago, and im so sad cause some people tell me that is a bad processor, and it has low performance, so i search overclocked kernels, but is no one yet, some people say that is cause its overclocked already, and said that is the same processor from the ace 2, but i think is lie cause ace 2 is u8500 an s3 mini is u8420, why it cannot be overclocked?, i saw a post here that someone tried to compile one but he closes the project cause some comments, he left there the basic things for compile the kernel, i wannna try but i dont know anything about development in android, i really apreciate if someone is encouraged and maybe continue with this project, i left here the post :
1. link suppostly 1.2ghz: http://forum.frandroid.com/topic/159798-kernelstopé-overclock-du-cpu-à-12ghz/
2 link from xda: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367970
maybe if you teach me i can do it, but i really really thank you if some dev can do this.
Bye, have a nice day

well ..if anyone has created this thread ..give me the link ..if dont ..i just want to know ..here's the question ? ..have x8 reach it's limit ..?
cause i see there is lot of rom ..great works for the developers ..but all of them only a few diffrence ..and only a few faster ..i'm kinda thinking that x8 has reach it limit ..but ..i dont know ..i'm not a developer
I don't know what did you meant typing "limit"? ROMs bases at CyanogenMod and few tweaks by developers. Right now the newest CM is 7.2 which surely will be included in next GingerDX. The question is if X8 will get ICS with CM9 because we have a very little RAM to handle this system. Development is waiting for next few weeks X8 is also kinda old phone. It doesn't have dual-core CPU and 1 GB of RAM, so we must get familiar with fact, that development will slowly stop. I'm trying to develop something, but right now I'm only able to compile GingerDX from sources Maybe this will change if I know Java and C++ better - but I'm big n00b
true ..x8 have a little ram and not much a faster processor ..that's why i was thinking that maybe someday ..x8 will reach it's limit ..just hope that xda developers have more idea ..and module in progress
Hello to everyone, I've recently started searching to buy a new phone and I saw Galaxy S and Galaxy S Plus. I saw that GS+ is 40% faster than the original one but I also heard that the GS consumes less RAM and that the GS+ lags a lot more.
Also, I saw that 9000 has a wider community and support and that it even has more payable games from gameloft than the 9001!
And so, I'm a bit confused, that's why I'm asking for advice. Thanks a lot in advance!
hi,
it really depends on whether we get ics ported for sgs+ or not.
if you just compare the hardware of both sgs+ will easily win, but the community is much bigger for sgs (we neither have any finished cm7 port nor ics, but both are maybe coming).
Thanks for your answer! I also happened to see people say that GS+ lags more than the original GS (both on GB) and people saying that it looks like samsung doesn't give much support to it, unlike the GS. That's what has been making me wonder.
If you are not planning to upgrade from stock rom(wich I dont advise) you should go with the SGS+.
Like annqx said there is a much better communitx for SGS, there are a lot more roms for it.
Sorry for my late reply, I had internet issues the whole week, anyway, I see, maybe then I'm going for the SGS+, since it's newer, I believe it will get more popular in the future. Thanks a lot for your answers!
Not sure it will get that much more popular. Remember galaxy s was top end phone at one point. Now replaced by s2, and soon s3. Just my opinion but could be wrong.

Well having used both phones and still using S version i would personaly say S as you already know about modding obviously being part of this community .
S+ is better on paper and thats what it only is , unless some drastic change in modding com and suddenly many devs appear for S+...
S with CM7/9 is just to good of phone ...
I'm satisfied with my S Plus. In my opinion it is a good fast phone
And not to forget, GPS is better in the S Plus, many people had problems on that with the SGS.
I9000 is better than I9001 because it have better dev support, better gpu and cpu .

Too bad... could you at least return to the original ROM (assuming you were using original stock ROM)?
If you could give us more details...
shame
i just purchased the t-499 myself and its a shame that such a new/great phone has so little support, ive looked all over google and only gotten mixed answers and dead end threads. icant even figure out if galaxy mini roms are cross compatible to the dart or not. its actually a good phone with a decent screen if u change the lcd_density to 100 the resolution is pretty decent.
if someone can help me a little it would be greatly appreciated, atleast point me in the right direction.
Not sure where else to post this, but can someone tell me if I can use a bootanimation.zip on the Samsung Dart? I've looked at a lot of threads on how to do this, used ROM toolbox to move files around, but haven't had any luck. I'd just like to know for sure so I don't drive myself crazy and waste more time!

On he stock Dart rom, no.
Samsung apparently uses some weird proprietary bootanimation format.
I am running the CM7 port in my sig from the MadTeam Forums and it of course uses bootanimation.zip's and I even have enabled boot sounds on it.
It's a good rom, couple of really minor bugs like button lights don't work and slow to wake on incoming calls, but overall quite stable.
Bummer....I guess I'll have to wait til I can upgrade to a new phone
they have make new rom for dart

How do you change the lcd_density to 100 in the stock ROM?
Hello folks,
I was a proud owner of SGS i9000B for a long long time changing it for a Galaxy Nexus. Anyway, both use the same GPU, PowerVR SGX540 w/ just a clock difference (I believe). It`s known we could increase the amount of RAM memory from 330mb (aprox) to 369, 396 or 403mb, depending on the hugemem config we choose.
Galaxy Nexus has 1GB of RAM but only 694MB available so I was wondering if it could benefit from the same idea. I`m posting here because, as far as I know, only i9000 uses hugemem, so I`m asking a detailed explanation about how to get it working so I can discuss with other Galaxy Nexus developers to port it. I know it`s modified libs like these ones: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815849 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30725734&postcount=61
Any developer out here could give us a technical explanation?
Best Regards,
Rafael
wrong type of fone sec, so cant help much but try searching galaxy nexus device or see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427352
juz a suggestion though so u bear any consequences occur
As I said, Galaxy Nexus does not have it implemented, so I'm asking here because SGS has and the devs could help here.
I looked the thread you mentioned, will see if I find something.. Already used the search but I can only find something related to libs but not a better explaination..
Best Regards
Hi, so I recently got my S3 Mini, and it's a massive improvement over my HTC Wildfire S (obviously ). Only thing is that, like with Sense, I really dislike TouchWiz. I personally think that it looks hideous when compared to stock Android, and it feels quite slow as well.
So I was thinking of maybe switching over to Marclaw's CM11, only thing is that I've never rooted or flashed a custom ROM before. CM11 looks as close to stock Android as I'll get, and I really like the aesthetics, but a big question that I want answering is, is it really worth the hassle? What are the speed boosts like compared to TouchWiz? Night and day or only minimal? What's the stability like? I've been reading the forum, and it seems like many people are having issues with the build. Can it be used comfortably for daily use?
Should I rather practice first on my Wildfire S? I don't want to screw anything up on my S3 Mini.
Last question, are there any good guides for rooting and flashing for people who haven't done it before, specifically for the S3 Mini and Marclaw's CyanogenMod build? Most of the videos I've seen on YouTube are in foreign languages, and because I'm from South Africa, I don't understand what they're saying. Anything else that I've found is outdated.
Thanks
hi there! nice to have a s3 mini. its a modarate phone that you can do most things.
i have installed cm11 one week ago. and i dont have any issues with it. happy with it! its stable and updates daily(thanks maclaw for that)
some people have clockfreeze ,sdcard-missing and battery problems. i dont have theese. its smooth and stable. samsung act like blind to us.
they only work for new devices. but we have maclaw!
that 1ghz bug. cpu stays on 1000 mhz clock and drains battery so fast. there is alternative solutions for that but i dont have that issue and got a good battery life.
there is guides for rooting and flashing that you can find in forums.

Thanks for the info, it actually doesn't look that difficult.
Another question, which is the best way to root? Using this method or this method with CWM
EDIT: So I rooted my HTC Wildfire S, it was super easy (time consuming, but very easy). And apparently HTC are some of the harder devices to root. Going to mess around with some custom ROMs. Still waiting for an answer about which root method for the S3 Mini though...
i flashed root.zip for root. and using maclaw's touch recovery(twrp) easiest way through

Do you have a link for that? Also, which CM version is more stable? 10.2 or 11? I'm going to assume 10.2 right?
----------------------------------------
Wow! So this is what stock Android is like. If it can run with no lag on a 4 year old device, I can't wait to see how it performs on my S3 Mini.
Here's a screenie I took of my Wildfire S:
It's breathed life into a phone that I was ready to dump and hide in a cupboard. Super impressed, so this is what I've been missing out on. And it really wasn't difficult at all, I'm not sure where people get the idea that it's so hard to root. Took me an hour total, and this was my first time.

I rooted mine when I first got it then in 3 months my phone died, hardbricked and the eMMC chip screwed so I got a replacement and I didn't root it and I agree it's really laggy on stock! When it was on CM11 it was so smooth!
