Does not work for me anymore, and figures I find this out when I get a bootloop.
So yea basically I keep getting clear storage popping up, but after countless attempts and even holding home once I get passed clear storage it stays on the htc logo until I eventually release it and then it tries to boot the phone.
Of course the usb isn't enabled at that point too so I can't connect through adb. I don't know why it won't let me go into recovery but...
Pull Battery,
Volume down + End key
Home key
Your in Recovery
Unless I'm missing the point of this thread?
Correct me please.
Ah thanks.
Yea it suddenly started working again, but I swear home+power stopped working for like 20 tries or something.
Weird stuff but I'm all good
I have read over and over again that you hold down both volume buttons, and the power button, and it'll boot into recovery - but it's never worked for me. Last night, by accident, I let go of the 'up' volume button, only the 'down' was down along with the power button and low and behold - recovery mode. Is this proper procedure maybe only for certain phones? I was so frustrated, all that would happen with three buttons held down is the AT&T logo screen would flash on and off. I guess I'm just looking for affirmation here.

It's always been a fickle thing for me. I just use ADB for recovery.
Turn on USB Debugging, open cmd prompt in Windows, navigate to where you have android\tools, then adb reboot recovery
I prefer it because it is reliable. I know I can do hardware keys to recovery but I always seem to require 3 or 4 tries before I can pull it off right.
Thank you - I'm definitely going to have to get more familiar with ADB. I have it set up, but I've never used it. Reliability is what I want, I really don't like the panic attacks in the middle of a ROM install!
Let GO
I think you missed an important step of the process of getting into recovery.
After you see the AT&T screen the 2nd time, LET GO of the power button.
Some phones are quirky about which button to let go of, and according to some posts, european builds do it with just one volume button and the power button. (I think)
Anyway, glad you got there, but be sure to let go of the power button next time.
Out of curiosity, does download mode work?
I can get into download mode with Odin no problem, but not with just the buttons, unless I'm doing that wrong, too.
I did try letting go of the power button, but all that did was boot the phone.
These things are so tricky, and the panic swells when it doesn't work and you're trying to flash a ROM for only the second time in your life!
I know the feeling... when your heart starts racing in your chest..
Been there.

Affirmative!!!
Hello everyone,
I cant use the 3 button combo at all to get to recovery mode. I've done the "Down Vol., Home, and Power" before and it worked. However, i am not able to get to it after i flashed Bionix-v 1.2, and 1.3. I pretty sure its not because of the ROM, but i just can't figure it out WHAT! I've tried the "Vol. UP, Down, Power" as well, but still not luck. Please help!
Thanks,
Yahase

Turn your phone off, and plug in the USB cable. That worked for me.
While your phone is switcher off, press and hold both the Up and Down buttons in the volume. And then plug in the USB.

I have finally rooted my GS i9000, that was totally fine, but then I installed the GST (Galaxy S tweaker) and tried one of the lock screens (I backed up mine), but i had JPP and I tried JPO, the phone rebooted and now when I turn it on, its just the GALAXY S LOGO screen for a while, then black, then again the logo, then black, then logo, looop!..
I tried volume up+home+power, volume down+power, volume down+home+power,... NOTHING!
PLEASE HELP ME!
lock screens and themes are only for custom or de-odexed roms.. for the most part.. that is why they will brick your odexed rom phone..
try to search on the jig for the galaxy s to get your phone in boot mode to reflash.
jig? Can you explain this please? boot mode?
sorry to be blunt but search...
people if you dont know how to get your phone into download mode .. you should not be flashing custom roms, or mucking with changing system stuff..
I had official ROM.. :/ I just tought that changing my lock wont make anything bad.. ohh, you mean the cable? damn.. where should I get that lol
yes i mean the cable/jig.. but are you sure you have tried to get into download mode correctly.. have you ever gotten into download mode (again everyone confirm it works on your phone before doing any crazy stuff)
you know you have to remove your finger from the power button and count to one-one-thousand when you first see the s logo on the screen and then press it again and hold it correct.
one-one-thousand? sorry I dont know what you mean, I tried many ways but didn't tried this one.. will try and let you know,, shall I wait 1 second before pushing it again? and shall I push it or hold it again?
push and hold all 3.. when you first see logo take finger off power count to 1 second them press and hold power again
Doesn't work, only makes it reboot faster :/
Hold down the left button with your right hand and the right button with your left elbow. Now jump on a rubber chicken and yell "I should have read the threads and learned something about flashing my phone".
Seriously now, pull the battery from the phone for at least half an hour. When you put it back in press volume down+home+power. This will bring you into download mode.
To get into recovery, with the power off, press the volume up button+home button+power button. When the Samsung screen appears, release the home button.
Hope this helps,
Ian
My 6602 won't boot. It hasn't gotten to the part type my password to decrypt storage.
I also can not turn it off. I hold the power button in, but nothing happens. So, I can't flash it for example if I wanted to.
Help.. Do I really have to wait until the battery runs out??
Ok. I figured out I can get it to turn off using the volume up trick, but it must of been stuck? I had to hold it for quite a while then it did the single vibration, rebooting it.
I can get it into flash able mode now with the three vibrations, forget what they call that mode. Similar to DFU on iPhone..
Mods - you can delete this thread. Sorry.
Hey,
So basically, my volume down button doesn't work since it got flooded with my contact lens solution as I stupidly spilled it over the table where my phone was chilling. With this, my phone constantly boots into the bootloader, as if the volume button was being pressed normally. The only way to counter-act this is to hold the volume up button when booting, which leads to booting into safe mode. And in safe mode, no third-party apps can be used.. so my phone is pretty much a Nokia with a fancy, purple-tinged camera.
I think this is the end of the line, what do you guys think? Is there a way to get this problem fixed? I'm pretty sure warranty is out of the question due to water-logging as well as being heavily-modified.
halp pls

If you can get to bootloader, why don't you just select "reboot". If it doesn't go into the normal OS then you will have to get the buttons fixed. In fact, you really need to get the buttons fixed or you will not be able to do anything with your phone.
