Control brightness "blind" - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a chance to map Volume keys (only when screen is on) to control brightness?
Alternative:
Long press of home sets full brightness?
Dimmed at night, the display might be not usable next day. To adjust brightness usually you have to see the touchscreen.
I have searched for such an app, but didn't found it. Do you know one?

Please do not post questions inthe dev sections.

Need Help with Vijay Lumos Workaround using HTC Home prog

With Kaiser not having a transreflective screen, I've really been missing the ability to map a key to toggle the screen brightness like I could with Vijay Lumos III on Hermes.
I don't use the HTC Home screen, but today I activated it and played with it some. I found that it has an app preloaded in the Launcher tab that toggles the display in 4 steps from Low to Hi and back. Using the add function I can see this application as "Adjust Backlight" along with most all of the other programs loaded on the unit.
I would like to create a shortcut link to this app and then map a hardkey to do this function, however for the life of me I can't find this program! I'm hoping that there is some kind soul that can help me locate this prog so that it can be used outside of the HTC Home Screen. I've been looking for a couple of hours and it's got me whipped.
In \Windows I found HH_Launcher Backlight.png which is the icon for the app.
Hopefully I'm not the only one who whould like to have this capability
bump.
Looking to do something like this as well.
found WkTASK (http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html) which is a nice utility and is supposed to have a brightness and volume control. Everything BUT the brightness and volume control work on my tilt however.
Here's what I've done to work around this... using AE Button Plus, I've mapped the center dpad button ("enter") with standard behavior on single click, and I've mapped a press/hold to the "backlight" application. This brings up the app in settings that lets you set the brightness levels for "on battery" and "powered". Since it wakes up with the "on battery" section active, you then just have to use the "left/right" dpad buttons to turn the brightness up or down (and down/up flips between the battery and on power settings). Not quite a one-click fix, but a click of the center button, and a few of the right button will brighten your screen fairly easily.
The trick here was that AEBPlus didn't want to map directly to the backlight.exe file. When telling it to map the press/hold to an application, it simply didn't appear in the list (even thought I could see it in the directory). Perhaps it hides system files to keep you from accidentally doing something bad. So I had to make a shortcut to backlight.exe, then map AEBPlus to the shortcut.
Kind of a clunky workaround, but it works.

Brightness issue on new Tilt, running HTC Home, Cube, etc.

I notice the brightness gets much brighter once I visit the home screen, and stays that way. Bumping the power button on/off will show my "owner message" with the proper brightness setting, then when it hits the today screen, its really bright....
Also, I noticed the brightness button in the app launcher won't function either...
this is the version I am using:
Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.814.722.HTCHome.Dir.With.Brightness.Fix.Updated.01OCT2007-schen.cab.zip
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Couple of (I Hope) Easy Tilt Questions

I had an 8125 and now I have a tilt. In making the switch I have run into a few anooying problems that I am sure someone already solved? I have looked all over the forums so if these are answered, could you please point me in the right direction?
1) The ever popular PTT issue. Took me a while but I got it going. It was interesting that there was an incompatibility between the fix and BatteryStatus. Not sure what THAT was about? But it is working now.
Soooo...How do I get button FIVE to appear on my button maps? Neither the stock button feature in the settings nor AEButton Plus shows button 5, the camera button. It would also be kewl to map the OK button on the side, but I am guessing that is too much to ask? *Blink*
2) I have set the brightness at about the medium level (that was a disappointment because I was able to set it to the lowest on the 8125) but somehow the backlight keeps going dim after a time. I have looked all over the parameters to configure this but I can't find it? How do I keep the display from going dim on me? I have the tilt set to sleep at 1 minute and I do not have the backlight going dim at all, so I don't know what else to do?
3) Now that PTT button is mapped, I did what all of you did, I set it to Voice Command. But of course the push and hold I want the convenience of RECORD like I had on the 8125. I have tried all of the shortcuts and such I could find on this site and everyone of them put the voice recorder on my screen but did NOT initiate the record feature. Is there no way to do this on the tilt? I think I remember something about a parameter? /b or something like that? I tried to find it again but I was unable to.
Thanks for your help, guys...

Hi Welcome
Not sure bout your other two questions, but the backlight is easy
Look in Start/Settings/System/ Backlight
You want the second tab, which is for Battery Power.
There you can set the timeout for it.
PS: If you have already tried this, then sorry for pointing it out, but sometimes the obvious solution is hard to find
AEButton Plus
I am able to remap both the OK button on the side and the Camera button with AEButton PLus.
I do have a slight problem that I am looking for a solution and hope someone knows the answer. When I remapped the OK button on the side, the first press still gives me the start menu no matter what I have it set for. The second press does the function I have programmed for double press. But is there anyway to not have it give me the start menu on the first press? I have it as none in the standard WM6 buttons panel. And I have it as lock phone on AEButtonPlus for both the first press and double press. But it always requires double press to make it happen. Any ideas?

Background light

When I´m talking in the phone the background light disappear and the unit is set to "home" mode again. Is there anyway to change so it stays uplight?
Look in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265

Screen Sensitivity - Drag vs. Tap

Is there anyway to tweak the touchscreen sensitivity? In other words, a lot of the time the Nook is interpreting a tap as a drag. When I tap an app on the home screen to launch it, the screen moves and bounces back as if I tried to swipe to another home screen.
I would like to set the minimum distance for a drag/swipe to greater than it is now.
Have not see a way to adjust the sensitivity ... that being said, many have reported the screen sensitivity is greatly affected by 'residue' on the screen (i.e. skin oils, moisture, etc) and have seen lots of benefit from a screen protector .. this has helped lots for me but especially the edge areas of the screen remain darn sensitive.
There is an adb method on the dev wiki that helped me a bit. I haven't figured out copy/paste on this thing yet, but a google search for "nook devs recalibrate screen" should get you there.

I don't think this will work on setting a minimum movement like you mentioned, but there is a howto on nookdevs about tweaking the touchscreen sensitivity.

Hope that helps!
