Hey guys, long time no see.
I've been using OMJ's Sprint ONE v1.7 for a while and while I enjoy it, I feel like it's time for a change. I really like the feel of my Nexus 7 tablet (which of course is now running KK), and I was wondering if someone could recommend a similar "basic" android ROM, one that would mimic my Nexus 7, or at least have a similar feel.
I tried installing the OneDroid from CM but, even with the absolute latest version of TWRP, it still didn't work. It came back with "failed" so, oh well.
you just have to try all ROMs yourself

Check @ClydeB1 index thread, has all the ROMs you can think of (and then some), make sure it says SPRINT compatible, for example ARHD 31.6 is Sprint compatible, but ARHD 41.0 is NOT.
Here's his index thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438026

i recently flashed Faux123's M7 (UV/Intelliplug/dfsync/FauxSound/s2w/Hybrid Linux 3.4+) [May-25] Kernel using TWRP. Now after checking everything else out, everything is in full working order except the Camera's. This is extremely upsetting because although I've been in the android modding scene for nearly a year now, ive never encountered this problem, nor do i know what to do. If anyone can offer help or links to help, I'd appreciate it very much. Thank You in advance.
There's a camera fix that's needed for roms running the 1.29 and higher firmware. It should be in the aroma installer if not, then somewhere in the thread

My software # is 1.26.502.12 will it work for that? And where can i find the installer?
Oh yes
i should also mention im running stock Sense 5 w/ 4.1.2 and tried flashing both listed camera fixes in the Fauxkernel thread to no avail. This is the biggest pain ever, and i am finding many other people are having this problem too.

Are you trying to run a custom kernel on a stock ROM? If so, there's might be your problem. Further, stop doing that--it's a very bad idea.

Yeah I am. Any stable custom ROMs you suggest for me to try? And supposedly it was only changing the Liboemcamera.so file or something like that. It doesn't matter though. I figured out that restoring it to a backup I made before I flashed the kernel fixed it. But now I have the problem I did before, with not being able to OC or especially UV and Fast Charge. As you know, this phones battery dies fast, and in the short time I was using Faux's kernel with UV/FC its battery life already had drastic improvements. So, can you help me get something stable like that?

Honestly, I'm surprised your phone booted without an issue. I've seen other folks who've flashed custom kernels on stock ROMs and be stuck in bootloops from hell.
TrickDroid and ARHD are both fantastic and I've frequently used both. They're also both running on Android 4.2.2, so they're the absolute latest you can get. ARHD focuses on refining and bettering the stock experience as much as possible without much changes. TrickDroid also has a stock look, but it lets you customize things a little more like the battery icon, clock location, etc. It's more your typical custom ROM, but it's not typical in it's awesomeness.
Thank god I'm so lucky. I never saw these problems in the forums for the kernels... No warnings, no instructions. I just followed the ones I remembered from my flashing days with the GS3.
I can find both of those on the forums, correct? And which do you prefer as a daily driver? Which one can I keep until stable CM10.1 comes out? Or maybe might want to keep even past that?

I bounce between these forums and the AT&T One forums trying to help folks out so I'm not sure where I first started seeing the stock ROM/custom kernel issues. Also I may spend too much time on these forums... >_>
Regardless, I'm a flashaholic. I swapped between ARHD and TrickDroid quite regularly. ARHD seems to be updated a lot quicker, probably due to the fact that it's tweaked less than TrickDroid. The fact that Mike has been around forever too probably helps. I don't know Torxx's work quite as well. That being said, I prefer TrickDroid over ARHD because of a couple tweaks that I like such as SMS screen on, center clock, and replacing the battery icon with a numbered percentage. Not sure if those tweaks are in yet, though, since the change to 4.2.2
Just a head's up on the AOSP front, there's been alot of reports that AOSP-based ROMs are having issues with the camera. Not that it isn't working mind you but that it's taking absolutely absymal shots. This is likely because HTC baked in some software magic to improve the the image quality and those features are missing from AOSP. I wouldn't use an AOSP ROM as my daily driver until the HTC One Google Edition has been released and hopefully it will have that software magic. Figured you'd like to know since the title of this thread is regarding the camera. :
Alrite well, cool. I think I'll check out ARHD tomorrow when I get home from finals. And thanks for the foresight on the AOSP, I doubt that I would've thought of that before hand. Don't wanna lose this camera, its beautiful. xD Anyways, I'll PM you tomorrow with an update on how that ROM works out or if I have questions before hand. For now, goodnight, and thanks for all your help!!!!

I need a cam fix for this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40819216&postcount=2
My details:
Android-Version: 4.1.2
HTC Sense: 5.0
Software: 1.29.401.16
Kernel: 3.4.10
Camera not working
Same here, bit new to this whole ROM thing, but basically I need full OTG support on my HTC One - So I can use DroidPlanner and my USB stick that talks to my Quadcopter - if I plug it in with the stock HTC, it pops up with "unsupported device. Now using the 4.0 rom you linked too and the OTG works fine, but now the camera just shows as a black screen... My HTC One (International) has software version 1.29.980.17 . not sure if that's the problem?
any help appreciated

From what i understand, OTG is based on kernel, not ROM. And this is definitely not the thread to post this on. Use Tbaldens kernel for sense or GE, and thatll be your best bet.

Yes I'm running - teaMseven_kernel_SENSE 4.0 . The OTG is working fine with this kernel (sorry got ROM and kernel mixed up).
I tried to post a reply to that thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255160 , but get this stupid message below and as you will see it clearly tells me to ask about this in the General Q&A, so i'm pretty sure I'm in the right place to ask about "HTC One camera not working"?

Yes, youre in the right section, but your question has nothing to do with a camera problem. I have three questions I was hoping you guys could help me out with in regards to AOSP roms:
1. What is the safest installation method coming from Sense based rom (I see this varies a bit from thread to thread.)
2. After flashing AOSP and wanting to restore a nandroid of Sense are there any special instructions?
3. Highly subjective question: what do you feel is a combination of the most stable and well supported AOSP rom currently out?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I know there are a handful of you guys that can offer some insight. C'mon guys, I'm AOSP phobic. I need some assurance that it's safe to take the plunge.
Sent from my HTC ONE which so far seems like a big downgrade from my Note 2!
1. Click wipe in twrp and swipe. Do not set any custom settings just use default.
2. The only issue is AOSP creates a 0 folder due to the multiple user accounts in 4.2.2. This will mess up your TWRP by hiding backups and new downloads in Sense based roms. Sense downloads things to root/download and if twrp detects a 0 folder it will try amd load everything from 0. This isnt a big deal as you can always copy everything from 0 folder onto root and delete the 0 folder. This will make TWRP read from root of sdcard.
3. Ive always been partial to CM. They seem to be the closest to stock you can get without tweaks and stuff added in.

I haven't been able to get an AOSP-based ROM like CM working on my Sprint One at all yet. If I load any of them I can't wake the screen once the device is locked. I'm still running a stock ROM with a custom kernel until I can figure out what's going on.
Yeah, so far, I haven't found an AOSP ROM worth staying with. They're all somewhat buggy and as mentioned, the 4.1 > 4.2 causes issues. Painful ones.

Have you guys tried the Vanilla Rootbox Rom? I'm currently using it and I'm enjoying it. It seems to be a lot closer to stock android but w/a lot of options. Off the top of my head, everything works currently.

Thanks, I'm debating between Vanilla and Slim
I wanted to try Slim as well but I couldn't get it to boot. I ended up running out of time to figure it out and went back to Vanilla. The only 2 notable glitches are no wifi tether and there's a green hue on the ffc. I'm going back and forth between that and Viper Rom when I need the better camera quality.
Sorry, I'm sure this will have been posted before, but I used the search function and couldn't narrow the results to what I was looking for.
I have a UK EE spec S3 LTE (Kernel - 3.0.31-1153417, Build - JZO54K-I9305XXBMF1). I have seen MSkip's excellent S3 Unified Toolkit and I am close to getting the courage to root my device, ready to put a different firmware on it to get rid of all the crap that Samsung "think" I want.
I have a couple of questions first though:
1. Can someone recommend a ROM that is the closest to stock Android (JB of course) as I love the feel of the Nexus devices. Unless 'proper' stock Android is an option.
2. Does anyone know is installing a custom ROM will affect how my 4G data reception/operation.
3. How likely am I to make a total arse of it and brick my phone?
I'm sure I'll get a few "wrong thread". "Q&A"."Theres the door dimwit" responses, but I'm big enough and ugly enough, with a heavy duty flamesuit so I can take the insults!! I'm sure someone can help :fingers-crossed:

Well, bricking your phone is nearly impossible, just do whatever the instructions says and you'll be fine.
And the 4G reception won't be affected, since the only thing affecting data is modems, and AOSP ROM got no modems.
And as of question number 1, there's a ROM called SuperNexus, it's exactly like a Nexus 4. But it's rarely updated and sources from CM might be a bit old. I suggest using CM or Carbon since they're being frequently updated.
I hope I answered all of your questions!
Cheers,

Dunno really about Paranoid Android, I don't use it but I find it pretty OK. And if I recall it correctly, there isn't a Stable version of CM for 9305.

Cheers, what do you use; nightlies? How often do you have to flash a new one? Are they as full of bugs as I imagine them to be?
This might sound like a stupid question, when you flash a new ROM, so you lose all your things like email settings, apps and stuff. Does the Google Play app come with a new ROM or do you have to get that as an APK from somewhere and manually install it?

CM is updated every night, hence calling them "nightlies".
CM is very stable, and I often flashed a new nightly every morning.
And question about google apps; you download a different zip file, this file contains all the Google apps.
So you first flash CM then the zip file with google apps.

I have a Sprint HTC one with S-OFF (just got that done). I'm having a bit of trouble finding out which ROM I can use. I'm currently using the OMJ's Stock ROM, but I'd like to switch over to a Google Edition type of ROM. Basically, I really just want stock Android KitKat. I love the feel of my Nexus 7 tablet.
If someone could enlighten me on how to discern which ROM I can use, OR suggest one that I can use on my Sprint phone, I'd be very happy!

Again, looking for expert help for a novice. I have a HTC ONE m7 Sprint rooted. I have been installing the Cyanogen mod nightly's with pretty good results. then 2 or 3 months ago, I downloaded a CM12 (lollipop?) and the phone would not run the rom, just kept locking up. I went thru quite a process of reinstalling cm-11 roms, and installing backups to get it running again. tried again, same results. then a month ago accidentally downloaded another cm-12 rom and same results. they are not longer updating cm-11.
Can anybody tell my why CM-12 roms won't run on my HTC ONE? is there something I can do to make it work? What do I need to do to protect the files, pics and contacts that are on it now? should I be upgrading to the new HTC m9? or galaxy 6? or use a different rom all together? I like CM, but if something else will run better why not?
thanks in advance for any advice?
Don't know much about CM on this phone. I personally prefer tdhite's PAC ROM. It's CM like but with more features. Also, I'm running gruesomewolf's GPE ROM right now and like it a lot. It's made for the HTC One by HTC and then ported to Sprint. You can find both in Android Development.
