Mms.apk on Cyanfox 4.4.2? - Motorola Atrix HD

I hate how much hangouts lag and I know that the 8sms app from the play store is pretty close to a stock messaging app, but does anyone know why installing the mms.apk from CM11 or Gummy 4.4.2 wouldn't work? On both of them I get an "App not installed" message when I try to run them straight out of es file explorer. Is there something that I am missing?

Have you tried unzipping the ROM, placing the apk in the system/app folder, re-zipping, and flashing the new package?

No problem. The error was caused by the file permissions. Repackaging the ROM with that apk is the fast, easy, and painless way of getting it installed with the proper permissions.

For future reference, you can drop the APK in /system/app then go into CWM > advanced > fix permissions.

[How-To][APP]Visual Voicemail in CM7

Here are the steps to get VVM going in CM7:
Just flash my attatched zip This seems to work for some
OR:
Ensure you have backed up the data of the VVM app with titanium with an EB13 rom. THIS IS VITAL! You must do this before you upgrade to CM7!
Once CM7 is flashed and running, flash my zip attached to this post
After booting back up, (may take a good 3-4 minutes) go to titanium backup, and restore your data for the VVM app.
Open up VVM, and you should be good to go!
Reserved. For what, I have no clue, but just in case
so just to be sure, the data i save in Titanium will be preserved when i flash to Cyanogen. i just redownload Titanium and it will pull the data off my sd card??

Is doing this any different then just installing the apk or copying it to system/app?

The zip does that for you, and you need to have the data already backed up with tb.

What files does it back up? And yes. I will tell you and maybe you can incorperate it in your zip. It should work because vvm works on the roms you flash.

if youre installing into the /system folder then its required to make the directory r/w or you won't be able to copy the apk to the system directory. for market apps this process isn't required.

No I didnt try it because Im still runing on ICS... trying to get all my aps in place in order to upgrade. However... browser and attandresbook are a no go... App was not installed is the error I get...
EDIT: The way to go was copy and paste the app to the system folder, change permisions and restart. Simply instaling did not work. Peremisions should be rw-r-r.

On stock MX 4.1.2 I found MotCamera.apk and MotGallery2.apk in /system/app
EDIT: I used root explorer to rename the files. Copied the OP links to phone, set permissions. Went into settings>apps, cleaned, cleared and closed, camera and gallery apps. Rebooted, tested working great. Thanks!
ADD: I guess you could flash this one too http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425531
if you reboot your phone, does the help screen displayed again? for me it's like the camera setting being reset everytime I reboot my phone.
