ok so hello every one who has IS
i have it for 3 weeks and i notice that a lot of the times its slow and has a lot of laggs, this happens when i open apps list and scroll it laggs for a split second and the more i use it i find it in more places.
now is it just my phone or every one notices its not as smooth as you'd expect?
+
more laggs when Live Wallpaper is on...and i thought 1GH processor should handle it
IS suppose to be INCREDIBLE, whats going on ?
Have you updated to 2.3?
I wolud do a "factory reset", and if that makes it as fast as it should bee, i would then start to install your extra apps.
i get what you are saying, but just as a phone, its not smooth
and live wallpaper takes all CPU and makes it even more slow.
is it just my phone that doesnt "FLOW" andd smooth?
I have lots of apps installed and is running LiveWallpaper, and i have no lag at all.
sent you a PM
anyone else has laggs ?
what can i do ?
last week i got OTA in swiss, after updates i got too much lagging problem as well. Many time i have done hard reset but it works same, now I am going to sell my phone. its a bull**** update.
I had one for a week, sometis it was laggy too. Do you have advanced task killer? Close some apps, clean your ram.
See if that helps to begin with?
Initially mine was also laggy, but i updated to gingerbread nad the phone became fast. Not as smooth as iphone but was a lot better then before.
After a lot of testing I can say that the main reason at most of the lagy phones are apps installed at the sd card....Check which apps are causing the problem and put them at the phone's memory.I hope that this helps!
Then whats the point of having a SD card if installing apps on it makes the phone laggy
It is not a matter of the phone but the class of the sd card.In order to be as quick as possible you sould use a ''fast'' class sd...
It saves space. But you need to get an SD card with a decent Class. My MicroSD card is 32Gb Class 10 and I'm not getting any lag on my phone I also use Advanced Task Killer.
Your best bet would be a task killer.
I would suggest ATK (advanced task killer) or battery doctor.
there are definitely a lot of talk on how the newer android versions do not need a task killer, but your situation may be one of those and am certain it will help.
If you already do not have the gingerbread update, i believe that would solve your problem initially, but if you bloat your phone with apps and do not exit out of apps but just press the home key, you will defy need a task killer.
try it
Do you use the HTC Messages widget? The one which lists all your messages rather than just shows the last one?
Since the update to gingerbread I noticed mine lagging when swiping screens. This widget now seems to update the contact photo's etc every time I unlock the screen now which causes lagging until you wait on that screen for it to finish updating.
I've switched to the other messaging widget and seems fine now.
updating folloing you recomendations
OK so i did the 2.3 update
have task killer and everything else...
am i going crazy or the iphone 4 is flawless no laggs, but the IS does still have
laggs ? it happens somethimes not all the times - it seems that
the phone, just by being a IS phone has lags, small, tiny but laggs sometimes.
when you open contacts info, when you scroll apps list, when live WP is on
and many more.
am i right?
any help to the problem or its just that the phone is like that?
Hello,
For the last 6 months or so, I've experienced many lag issues with my device. At the begging, I had a CM11 ROM installed on my phone, so I decided to revert back to the V20B official european firmware because I thought those lags were related to the ROM. But nothing changed, and as of today I still have responsiveness issues.
This lag issue appears from time to time, and makes my device basically unusable. It feels like the whole CPU is hogged by an application, or like I underclocked my device to 53mhz on purpose. During these lags, trying to wake up my device will take up to 5 seconds, and navigating the main screen will be nearly impossible. Also, my phone will get very hot which would imply that my CPU is indeed used by an application. Sometime the issue will disappear by itself after a few minutes, but I usually reboot the device which temporarily fixes the problem.
I have tried to disable LG MLT, and I think it helped but the lag still occasionally occurs.
I don't really use third party applications either.
I think these lags might be related to the Google Chrome browser, but it doesn't make any sense as it is an official app.
Anyway if any of you have an idea on how to fix the issue or how to find the application/service/whatever hogging the CPU I'd be grateful
Thanks !
I did experience such lags in CM11 after a few days of usage. But talking about stock, these freezes sound bit weird. You might want to check your installed apps.Download watchdog lite from play store and let it watch on agressive mode. Also check if your phone is hot when these freezes occur, might be the throttling kicking in.
I also experienced this kind of lags due to bad gapps I had installed back in the day, though stock ROM comes with gapps so it's not that.
Thanks for your reply,
I installed Watch dog lite and I'm now waiting for an alert. I hope it will give me the name of the culprit
If you are rooted which i assume you are. You can try app from playstore called "lagfix" (fstrim)
Sometimes really helps. Sometimes it doesn't
Hello people i just received the OTA notification, but i'm worried to update, to be honest my phone worked pretty well till today and i'm very satisfied with it, but it's kinda annoying the notification popup , i tried to stop the service as well but it keeps popping out.
Anyways i bought this phone cause it's such a great phone for the price, and cause i knew it was going to get Lollipop update, and now that there is the update i'm kinda conflicted about so many differents comments around the forums, i checked here, some other forums, and on reddit but i couldn't find a proper review of the Pro/Cons to updating the phone to Lollipop 5.0.2 (most of the review i found were of the previous version of L, and i read that 5.0.2 got some major fixes ); so there's anyone that can kindly explain me if it regrets updating the phone, or what are the issues? battery life improvement? i know that it gets a better multitasking, but some people complain that is "sluggish"? also there's anyway to change or remove the white background from the app drawer?
thanks in advance for the help.
I updated my phone more than a month ago. At first the phone seemed sluggish ,as you said, and even after a full wipe things didn't get better. The thing is that after a few days the phone's performance was just as smooth as kitkat for me ( I guess the rom settled ) . Battery life is the same , although lollipop may seem to need more resources at times , and I also installed nova launcher with moonshine icon theme to get rid of the white app drawer background. In a nutshell , the only difference for me is the visuals / new features like ambient display which I happily use. I don't play games on my phone but I listen to music , watch videos on youtube and stay online for a few hours per day switching between apps. The only problem for me is the blurry camera ( which is also an issue on kitkat ) and the lack of actual silent mode.
ps. I would strongly recommend a full wipe before and after installing and disabling apps you dont need from settings in order to save battery and resources. Don't forget to back up everything before wiping / updating
It is worth it. The features and the UI are definitely great, but don't expect any real RAM improvements. Performance-wise, the phone still multitasks like my old Galaxy Y (which had 256mb of RAM), and I only keep WhatsApp on the background.
But hey, it's not any worse than KitKat and it's pretty, so I recommend it.
Agreed.
Material design looks good, performance is the same and so it's battery life (at least in my experience). I am happy with it.
I got the update 4 days ago and haven't had any problems. Is it faster? Hard to tell but it certainly isn't any slower.
Ram management for me is much better, no problems with multitasking, navigating listening to music, surfing the net, still shows 464Mbyte ram free and no restarts. No lag at all on any apps (59) all of which work fine.
Battery performance is in line with what I had on KitKat, which was pretty good, (Don't forget where you put your recharge cable). I have to admit that I am not a power user, (I can get up to 3 days out of one charge) but I use it a lot to record tracks with OruxMaps when I am walking, GPS on and screen off.
I don't use mobile data so have it turned off on all apps that use it, I have a separate mobile router (Much lower cost).
Finally from my experience I would say that updating was worth it, just to get rid of the terrible multitasking that came with KitKat 4.4.4.

Note 4 Bell Canada
Updated 5.0.1
Day 3 Extra Info
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Full day at work 85% battery at the end
Google Chrome PC and Android bookmark history sync works perfectly
Wifi hotspot works perfectly every time ... no dreaded "Limited connectivity" like I used to see with the GS3
Fast charging is awesome .... with the stable battery usage of Note4 with 5.0.1 it is so easy to keep this phone charged.
Bad: My phone keeps taking screenshots when I am on the lock screen and I don't know why.
Day 2 Extra Info:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The Good:
As far as I can tell everything works.
Bluetooth dropouts during locked state drastically reduced ..... sometimes stutters once a few seconds after lock and none observed after (JVC Car Audio Unit)
Menu multitask key is just as snappy as before (I had already disabled Google talkback)
Battery life is great ..... At 6*% after a full day at work ..... my GS3 was often near zero after a ful day in the same location
I can now give permissions to write to a microSD card
Standby battery life is great ...... charged 100% went to sleep .... woke up at 98% (My GS3 would be somewhere between 60 and 70% same location)
Every app I have is behaving normally
The Bad:
I got one random Google + forced close so far (that is no so bad I guess)
Update Process: Smooth as silk, no crashes, no lockups, no forced closures
The UI: New notifications are great, a lot of little improvements including and x if you want to close an app
Performance: same as before ... great no keyboard issues yet, no issues with toggling things on and off, Chrome scrolls web pages smoothy
Apps: All apps seem to work ... no forced closes
Battery: no obvious differences ... to early to tell
Things Fixed: My bluetooth connection stuttered like crazy in the car if the phone was locked .... seems like this was fixed in 5.0.1 ....
Seems like the max volume is louder now
I'm on Bell too and my experience is very similar to yours. So far I'm very happy with the update. No problems and I'm enjoying some of the new changes.

1. Power Saving on/off from setting not working. (No changes when u slide on the slider to on/off, only working via notification toggle)
2. GPU thermal throttling for benchmark. (I'm not a fan of benchmarking, but it's interesting to see the 3D behaviors on 5.0.1 unable to perform as what it should be if the phone temperature not cold enough)
3. Waze graphical glitches.
These are some of the possible bug that I realized and it need to be fixed in the next update.
However, overall experience still not that bad. The main issue for me now is the Waze graphical glitches which force me to temporary using Nokia Here Map at the moment.
I'm on BOC3 Malaysia. You may take a look on my signature for version information.

I'm from Malaysia too. But i don't have power saving problem.
Wake did not work properly.
Recent apps slower than before. Like 2 second lag.
No more option to change lockscreen animations
Data usage unable to view data usage in short period of time.
Some features were removed after upgrade.
Only useful additional thing is smart lock
Sent from my SM-P605 using XDA Premium HD app
As on 5.0.1, there are Pros & Cons.
Pros:
1. The finger print now is much much better than Kitkat
2. Feel like a bit faster.
Cons:
1. The Bluetooth is not so clear like on Kitkat and time to time no voice even if still on Bluetooth connecting. (Already try to unpair and repair, still not ok)
2. A bit warmer than Kitkat.
3. Eat more RAM than before
4. After sync calendar with Kies, all calendar on device are gone but still existing in outlook calendar.
Remark: I'm on SM-N9100 DUOS
Anyone having trouble with super su not granting privilege after rooting in G ?
I hate the lag and switch between screens on the brightness slider. I've gone back to kk
My experience has been great when it works (smoother UI, better battery life surprisingly).
One major issue though. 3 times, the phone rebooted overnight. All three times, it was while it was plugged into the charger, and it was stuck on the SAMSUNG logo (with bubbles animation). But I cannot get past it, and trying to restart via holding down the power button does not work.
Has anyone else experienced this yet?
Finally. Me too. Samsung Lollipop Update Problem

I AM experiencing this. I honestly think this update has broken my phone. My Samsung Galaxy S4 - when turned on, stays on the logo screen. Luckily for you it doesn't always do that but my phone won't even fully start up so I haven't been on it for two days. I really suggest you back up your phone because there may be a chance of it not turning on ever, like mine and a few phone shops are saying I need to completely wipe it. Does anyone know how to help? It would mean the world, thanks!
Battery life pretty disappointing. getting a good 10-14 hours under light usage. Heavy usage is out of the question if I'm leaving the house.
I downloaded the update yesterday and until now I must say it's amazing. Problems I had before with kitkat are gone. The speed is much faster. It's all so smooth and flat. I like it. I can't understand why everyone has issues with it. I'm using Note 4 SM-N910F.
Hello there,
I recently got a Note 5 and I am coming from a iphone 5s. This is my first android device ever and I am trying to get used to it. Thus, I noticed a few things that bothered me a little bit. When I scroll down faster than usual in apps like facebook, shaman, play store, whatsapp emoji menu etc. I get a laggy/jittery behaviour. Some people mentioned browsing as well but I think samsung browser seems decent, I feel no lag after it completely loads the page. I dont wanna believe that this device cant handle even Facebook app, maybe its a network related problem (I am sitting on a 10-25mb internet depending on where I am). I feel an extremely small stutter when I switch between menus for the first time in simple apps like dialer. I just pop it, for example when I first go to contacts and favourites, it kinda stutters for an extremely short time. I am aware such concerns might sound stupid but I am really not sure how it is supposed to be. Next, I am getting about 5-6 hours of SOT battery life. Location is on (wifi and cellular), android device manager is off, NFC off, wifi is always on where I dont have to use mobile data. I noticed that android system is draining the highest amount just after Screen. Usage was mostly Whatsapp, some facebook, phone settings (since I am trying to figure out stuff), a little bit of gaming and twitch. Brightness is auto and at about %30. I also got a geekbench score of Single Core: 1450ish and Multi Core: 4500ish.
Finally, I wonder if these concerns are expected and possible to solve. I did some reading but unfortunately never had chance to come across to a clarifying explanations to all these things. I thank you in advance for your time taken and effort reading this.

Being an ios and android user, what i can say is android can never(as of now) be as smooth as IOS. This is the truth as android is made to support all the variety of devices, however android users get more customisability more useful free apps and more control over the device they own. 5-6 hours of SOT is considered not bad, it really depends on personal usage i think it is acceptable, i guess the ability to see what your phone is using may be a good or bad thing. For what you know maybe on IOS the system actually drains as much or even more than android just that we are unable to view. hahaha :highfive: cheers not looking for flammers just my two cents.
Thanks for the input =) Hopefully this will be solved with a software update later. Still some confirmation/consultancy will be much appreciated, cheers
