[Q] Weird problem FW 10.4.B.0.569... - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I've installed 10.4.B.0.569 rooted and everything.
After a while my phone becomes sluggish and barely anything works anymore.
At some point it becomes so sluggish that even my clock slows down...
I did a fresh installed wiped EVERYTHING! Tried other kernels, but the same thing always happens...
One time when it became really bad I did a factory reset but even the first time after the reset it became sluggish again...
I freshly installed the new FW on the 14th and nothing bad happened till today. (Before the 14th I also had trouble with this fw, but they came like after a day max) On 4.2 I've never had these issues before.
The only solution I can think of is removing my 64gb card and see if that has any effect.
Hopefully anyone else has some suggestions that I can try.
Here are some screenshots.
P.S. When the phone becomes really sluggish the battery drains really fast.... like 30% per hour while the screen is off.....
And the phone randomly buzzes at times. Sometimes 1 buzz, sometimes 3 buzzes.

Edit:
I planned to post more screenshots, but saving a screenshot takes like 1 minute and I can't even connect the phone to my PC because the drivers fail to be installed. Even though it worked just fine before...

I've got no clue how to get the logs. It's been ages since I've done these kind of things.
I just did a factory reset and removed my sdcard just to see if that caused the problem.
Could you please tell me how to get the logs? So that I can post them next time it happens again. (Which it probably will...)

[Q] X8 reboots by itself

Hi all,
this is my first post so first of all I want to say how amazing this community is !!
I've installed gingerDX v018 just following the xda instructions and all has gone smoothly.
Anyways, I'm posting 'cause sometimes my x8 reboots by itself, usually during the night (each time I heard the logo animation alert ). I guess the timing is not significant, but it happens quite every night.
Do you have any idea of what could it be?
There is some x8 log I could read from or may I use the terminal emulator app?
P.s. I didn't flash the kernel, so I'm still using the stock K. No overclocking apps (not yet).
Do a full wipe. The GingerDX thread says there's no need to do a full wipe after update, that must have confused you.
if what Chris95X8 said dosnt work then your stuck for a while until someone makes a -all-in-one sorta fix. i used to have this problem and after a while it rebooted itself and it got stuck in a bootloop so do the full wipe as soon as posible imo.
i did a full wipe and now its back to normal. no more auto reboots either now.
if that dosnt work then reinstall the rom.
I thought I did. I mean, after the installation I did a full wipe to avoid reboot looping I experienced during my first time installation.
My installation steps actions:
- installed v018 zip
- installed extra zip
- ran Factory Reset (full wipe) option
- ran Wipe cache partitionoption
- reboot phone
Did I miss any steps?

Thank you.
In the meanwhile this w/e I'll try to disinstall one app at a time, to see if there are some conflict. It has rebooted just 5 minute ago.
i read that u can try to use another memory card for awhile to check if the problem still happening.
i got the same problem too, and i tried using another memory card but it still happens. lastly, i sent it to the shop and the shop send it to the factory and it gonna take 3 weeks until i got my phone back..

ok, some answers show that it is either the rom or battery, they also suggest to have it sent off to have it looked at, see if anything is mucked up or something. sorry if it isnt much but its all i could find so far

Thank you wilbso, sending it off will be my very last resource. Anyway for now I've removed weather widget from the lockscreen and Homescreen, just to exclude any (?) refreshing data problems. Next step will be to install some task killer and so on.
I'll write if anything work it out!
Coverage
How's coverage in your area?
I had frequent reboots on low signal areas (very bad) and the phone tried to connect 3G to check e-mail. Anyway, after each reboot, I cleaned dalvik and cache, and then eventually it went away after moving from CM7 to GingerDX.
I think another possible problem is the ram cuz you said that you dont use task killers so the problem may be the low ram(every gb problem)if you confirm that this is the problem i sugest you should use advanced task killer form market
I don't think it's a ram problem, I suggest a full wipe an pay attention when you restore, do not restore system app or app data, the problem could be there...
crazy x8. Full wipe is the solution for prob in almost cases in x8 using custom roms. Wierd
@Chris_Castro:
2g signal looks stable, 3g poor, but at home I'm using wi-fi. But just to be sure I'll check the force 2G signal option, so we will see.
@X8invisible13:
I had the same idea yesterday, so I've installed Memory Booster - RAM Optimizer, here my ram data:
total memory: ~ 175MB
memory avaiable: ~26MB
and reading here and there they look to be average values. But one of the next tests will be to install the latest gingerDX rom, or some other cool roms and test each app at a time.
@evil_chris:
mmm, I'm quite the noob here, so I don't have any backup data or backup apps. I was playing around with HS/LS, sliders, icons when I experienced first problems, so had no time to deepen backup systems.
But I got what do you mean, so as I said, the next installation will be a naked one.
Last episode happened yesterday morning, I checked the locked screen, w/o unlocking it, and after 20 sec it rebooted. Just after I logged in it rebooted again
Anyways Thanks guys
I Cleaned Dalvik and cache, and removed the overclock and now looks good

[Q] Boot problem/endless loop

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this.
Yesterday my Samsung Galaxy S3 with ArchiDroid 2.3.8 suddenly restarted. And since then it isn't possible to start the device at all.
A photo of the starting screen is attached.
I had this problem one time ago. This happenend as I tried to use a HDMI/MHL-adaptor with my S3. Wiping and reinstall Archidroid was the solution. But I don't want to do this all two weeks...
So it would be nice, if you know other solutions or the reason why the phone behaves that way.
Thanks,
Konne

Yes, I too have experiences that might help the developers from time to time. It seems silly to have to look for other topics we can waste a few posts on. A few times I've tried to send a PM question/observation but those have never received replies and seem to be a waste of time.
That's right!
Now I wiped the phone and re-installed Archidroid and it works again...but I don't know how long...? And I have to download all apps again, configure everything and some data is lost (like SMS).
Can somebody recommend an app with which I can backup everything and recover with the the bootloader?

Now I did a backup with Philz Touch ClockworkMod. There it is possible to do a custom backup. But I don't know which part of the system was broken...so I have to try it next time

Battery Stuck at 100%

So after 8 hours my battery still said 100% and even shut off due to dead battery and it still said 100% full. In TWRP it also shows 100% full. Any ideas? I have it on the turbo charger now, since it died, and will wait about 2 hours then try to reset battery stats. Not sure what else to try. Nothing new installed, phone is stock other than rooted and TRWP.
This is why I stopped rooting phones. One feature breaks 2-3 things and end up flashing daily update zips.

huh?
The phone was rooted the day I got it, Nov 9th, and it just started doing it today. So how does root automatically cause the issue?
Anyway, any ideas would be great I think resetting the batterystats has worked just curious what may have started it.

I've never had issues from just rooting. Rooting a phone doesn't cause issues but rather installing root apps and changing things causes issues. I would try to flash back to stock (backup data first) and then root it again to see of that fixes it.
Also did you use CF-Autoroot or one of the tool kits?
I fixed the issue, after that battery died I let it charge for about 4 hours with the quick charger and then reset the battery stats by using an app that deletes the batterystats.bin file. Then did a reboot and now the battery level is no longer stuck on 100%.
Same happened to me, phone is on for over 20hrs and battery is still 100%.
Waiting for it to shut off.

You can also try the bootloader trick, though not sure if it will work here.
Boot to bootloader, change to logs menu. Hold power until reboot.
FYI, batterystats is not related to what % battery shows is left.

root has nothing to do with breaking your phone. all root does is give you superuser permission. what breaks phones are dirty hacks that you yourself chose to use.

But that's strange, since it reported 100% in TWRP as well, looks more like firmware problem no?

Yeah maybe battery firmware confusion. I don't know where TWRP gets its reading from.

[Q] Constantly reboots to blank/black desktop

My friend recently gave me her old HTC One, and I've been trying to fix it, but I can't quite figure it out.
She said it started bootlooping randomly after she plugged it in to charge. When I first received it I plugged it in and mashed the power button until it turned on. Booted up just fine. But now it's in a stupid bootloop that takes me to a blank desktop with no dock or wallpaper, and then reboots after a few minutes.
Can a battery issue cause this? A complete factory reset from recovery is not an option because I'm trying to save her photos. I don't know how I can get 11gb worth of them off when it's not booting properly.. Any ideas for fixing this or getting the photos off?
Have you tried to wipe data factory reset from recovery ?
That doesn't erase photos
Oh really? I thought it did. This is a stock recovery btw. No root or anything. And it's on 4.1.

in stock recovery try and erase cache .. Don't factory reset ... everything would be gone
Ughh,... A bit too late. Lost everything and it didn't even fix my problem. Ah well. I think I need to replace the battery anyway. That, and my computer doesn't even detect the phone when I plug it in.

I should have remembered.. But I haven't done anything with Android for so long because I had been stuck with a locked S4 for a while..

It will not unfreeze them. You will need to factory reset.

Okay, thanks. Factory reset is what got me in this in the first place. (Well, not the first place, but it's what I can't get out of!) is not changing anything. I still can't get any further in setup than one screen past wifi (it just continues to check whatever it is it's checking. It's not frozen and it doesn't loop, it just doesn't move on. Pressing next/skip produces a sound/feedback but doesn't move on) Oh well, it was worth a try.

If you're rooted, factory reset will not work. You will need the KDZ file to wipe your phone, which is currently in the works.
If you actually got it to boot, then you're fine. That "activating" screen sometimes takes several minutes. Just be patient.

Peeptastic said:
Thank you for helping. I don't actually make it to an activating screen. I just get one step past wifi (if I keep wifi on it gets caught in updating system. If I turn wifi off it gets caught in just a sec). It will "load" (lack of better term) for 1-3 hours. I did discover that I can receive phone calls while stuck in the screen. And I can hear when I get a text message, although I can't check it. But that makes sense if I can't factory reset a rooted phone....

Try removing battery and trying to boot again. If your phone was rooted, that''s possibly your problem.

Yep! Sprint connections optimizer popped up. I was able to hit a link from there and access chrome. I wasn't signed in to wifi though. Also, whenever something closes, the screen goes back to setup. I don't have access to the task bar or the soft keys (besides back). Someone else on the forum had a similar problem and looks like it was solved with kdz. So there is hope.

I think I may be seeing something related to what you're seeing (though I'm not starting over from a Factory Reset). Ever since taking the root flash, my wifi isn't connecting to my home router anymore.
I was just about ready to do a Factory Reset to see if that fixed it, but now it doesn't look like that'll help.

During the initial setup after factory reset, when you get to the wifi setup screen can you just skip over the wifi setup? Is it possible your wifi isn't working (mine isn't either) and as long as you keep attempting to connect you'll never get past that step in the initial setup process?
i need zv4 rooted system file, i'll root the phone using the zv4 file and will do OTA , thn will get the update.zip for ZV5.
if any one have zv4 rooted system file pl share.
