HTC One problems after repair - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
A couple of days ago I recieved my One after I sent it for repairs.
They fixed my camera issue but changed my phone back to s-on. So now i'm left with a relocked phone with s-on.
I can't seem to re-unlock my phone by using htc's unlocking guide. After flashing the token it doesn't go into unlocking mode.
So i need some help with that. I'm on hboot 1.56 and 4.4 stock sense
Next problem:
I've been having this problem for a couple of days now. My phone charges unusually slowly. I always charge it overnight.
Last night it was 40% when i put it on the charger. About 8 hours later i woke up and it reached 95%. Already did a fresh install with no luck.
I'm thinking about sending it back and demand a new one but i need my phone for work. So if you guys know a way to fix it by using software that would be awesome.
Helping me out means beer ^^

They didn't "fix" your phone, they never simply fix ones phone. They send you a new "refurbished phone" which would be why the Token ID doesn't work for unlocking the bootloader. Go through the steps to get a new Token ID then unlock your phone.
As for the problem with the charger, perhaps that's the reason the phone got sent in to be fixed in the first place, that would be something you want to work out before going through all the work to unlock and s-off first.

Thanks for the reply. But they actually did fix it. I had some "marks" on my device. Some small scratches that helped me identify my phone. So this truly is my phone. I really do wanna go back to ARHD. I need my xposed

Hmm maybe then they reflashed the device with stock every thing. I've never heard of them actually fixing it before! So if they did reflash it then they could be having the same issues.

Yeah they reflashed a RUU. Not sure what kind of RUU. Only thing i find peculiar is that i can flash the token but it wont work.

I'm on hboot 1.56.0000. Maybe that is causing all the trouble

Have you tried getting a different token ID on it?? Or tried running rumrunner to s-off?

I tried rumrunner but it needs root-acces. I'm not rooted yet. And what exactly do you mean by a different token ID?
Flashing a RUU doesnt work. Signature fail error 12

[Q] Unlocking with HTCDev

Hey. I've been wanting to unlock the bootloader of my One and stupidly enough I accepted the 4.2.2. OTA so I can't really use revone now because of the updated hboot. Anyways, my only option seems to be using the HTCDev tool but here's where my paranoia comes to mind. Are they keeping a record on whoever's unlocked their One? Basically, I don't want them knowing I've unlocked it - mostly because they have no need to know it.
I guess I could wait until revone is updated but I have no idea when that'll be, hence my question.
Cheers.
They probably keep a record of who has requested an unlock token - but I doubt they can tell if you have used it or not..

I just want to unlock my bootloader, but I hate that everything's wiped. With revone, nothing's wiped but then again I'm not sure if S-OFF's ever possible on 1.54. Then I'm stuck.
1.54 can't be s-off'd at the moment. Hopefully soon though

I don't know the situation in Norway but in Holland HTC sends the phones in to a 3rd party repair company (dynafix, fixes all types of phones, also does (warranty) repairs for eg samsung) for warranty repairs, I doubt they can or bother to look into the database and see if an unlock token has been requested. I think the technicians have been instructed to look at the bootloader status (unlocked/relocked) and been instructed to deny warranty in such cases as much as possible.... I send in my device for warranty s-off(with revone though never unlocked via htcdev), but with locked bootloader, and it was repaired under warranty

unlike samsung which uses Odin app to unlock, Root, Flash stuff without going online

Sending phone in questions ?

Ok so I'm sending my phone in for repair and would like to know what to do and what not to do when sending in to HTC for repair . I just dont want to pay extra for stupid crap software wise or some stupid re install fee for modifying my phone . I have no problems completing any task nessecary to go back to stock I just want to know what I cab get away with sending to htc. So here it goes
I have at&t branded one
I'm currently on android 4.3
Firmware 3.17
S-off
Cid 11111111
Hboot 1.55
And bootloader unlocked.
What can I get away with ? Leaving s-off no matter what and we all know why just hoping I get my same phone back .
Since I'm att does it matter that I'm higher than 4.1.2 and higher hboot cid bootloader etc etc
Really what does HTC care about ? And what should I correct before sending in to HTC ?
Thank you for your time
Should I just change my cid to dev and flash dev ruu ?

Very helpful.
To OP: What problem are you sending it in for? If its a hardware problem that couldn't be caused by anything you did, then leave it. They dont care unless it could be caused by something you did to the bootloader. Just to be safe though, you could make a twrp backup, then flash a stock rom. No need to relock the bootloader or anything.

And saying the same thing in more words is more helpful?
He should return it to stock software, why risk it?
Advising they don't care about unlocked and unsigned software is bizarre, since people have been refused repair or charged for a new mainboard.

In the US? When I called HTC to do my repair (power button stopped working), I asked if unlocking the bootloader mattered. He said not unless you brick the phone doing it. I sent it in bootloader unlocked and ARHD installed. I got it back with no hassles.

Stuck on relocked bootloader

Hey guys,
A couple of days ago I recieved my One after I sent it for repairs.
They fixed my camera issue but changed my phone back to s-on. So now i'm left with a relocked phone with s-on.
I can't seem to re-unlock my phone by using htc's unlocking guide. After flashing the token it doesn't go into unlocking mode.
So i need some help with that. I'm on hboot 1.56 and 4.4 stock sense. Not rooted. Stock recovery.
Htcdev isnt able to help me so i completely rely on you guys.
Golden tip means a nice cold one.
Cheers

have u got a new unlock token or is it the same one as u used earlier? If u are using the same, I guess it may not work coz of the newer hboot. why don't u try getting a new token using another email id and trying the unlock bootloader process.
Also, it would be better if u uploaded a snapshot of the error message
Thanks for helping me. I have already tried 4 new tokens on different emails. I'm not getting any error message. It flashes succesfully.
But the "Unlock mode" doesnt pop up. It did when i unlocked it the first time.
Believe me when i say that i tried everything known to men ^^.

Already tried the toolkit 1000 times. It's hopeless..... Htcdev is now compiling a completely unique token for me.

Got the same problem.
New phone I'm afraid.
Or a VERY slim chance of an ruu, but I doubt that as I've already reflashed the firmware, and an ruu would only add system and data to that.
Don't have the option for an ruu anyway as I'm on 3.62.401 that or something newer isn't available.
So.. if you're guy sorts it I'd love to know how.

Yeah its a very weird issue. My guy sent my issue to their bootloader devs. They are now compiling some sort of RUU that will completely reset my phone to when if came out of the factory. So that means: New bootloader, s-on and locked. I really hope it works since this is driving me crazy.
Ofc i will let you know if it works. I also asked @mike1986. for his help. He's kinda the god of The One.

[Q] Need help to Sim Unlock AT&T HTC One

I heard you need to be stock to use a sim-unlock code so you might want to try back to 100% stock then use the code. If it still don't work then maybe you could purchase a new code.

Do some searching here (in the Q&A) section, there were quite a few SIM Unlock threads solved (quite a while ago), I can't exactly remember, but it used to be a combo of
1- stock rom (or very close) but matching to firmware version
2- possibly stock recovery
3- possibly locked/relocked bootloader
4- s-off / s-on doesn't matter
I believe number 1 was the most important, can't say/remember about 2 and 3, and quite sure S-Off won't matter.

you don't need s-off, you just need to relock the bootloader
Hmmm still no luck. Been working at this for a while now, not sure what the problem is. Selling it is the only solution I can think of right now, but there must be a way to unlock this for my carrier.
Hello. I have a similar issue, so I don't think I should create another topic.
I just purchased a 64gb HTC One and purchased the unlock code from the same vendor as always. I was always able to unlock other devices (One XL, One X+, Windows phone 8X) easily, and even other Ones, since this is my fouth (first one I gave to my brother, second slipped off my pocket while in a tunnel riding my motorcycle and the third is 32gb, so I decided to sell it and buy a 64gb).
This one is used like new, everything stock, s-on, nothing unusual. Well, except the led seems to be smaller (very hard to see the red dot while charging) and the system may be newer, since it doens't find any update available.
But the code doesn't work. I tried twice thinking I could be misspelling the numbers, but returned wrong anyway.
So...
1-What happens if I try again and it returns wrong, since it's showing it's my last try?
2-Any clue?
Thanks in advance.
Does your phone work on any network? What carrier is it branded?
Best thing is to email (carrier) support and get a code from them.
This thread is for devices that have a security cross reference back end problems.
Does your phone say it accepts the code then restarts then asks for the code again?

After a lot of painstaking effort, I managed to flash a stock RUU, got back to a stock recovery, and locked the bootloader. Got the same unlock code from two separate vendors. No dice. Incredibly frustrating, don't know what's wrong with my phone but now I have to sell it.

well you can sim-unlock using the sieempi method instead of the unlock code, like many others successfully did

[Q] Can anyone confirm if the new update blocks any S-Off or TempRoot hacks?

So, my still rooted and S-On Sprint HTC M8 just received a notification that an update is available.
I AM going to eventually root and s-off this thing, but I am going to be going on a few trips soon so I figured it would be best to wait until after just in case something goes wrong so I won't be out of a phone while not at home.
Just wanted to know if anybody can confirm if the current firewater S-Off and/or Weaksauce temproot methods still work if you install these on an unmodified Sprint M8.

I think you're rolling the dice there. Even if you find one that can be S-Off'd with the new firmware on it that doesn't necessarily mean that the next person will get the same result as we have seen phones that are identical in software and firmware both fail and succeed at obtaining S-Off. In short, I think the it's always great to get a sampling of results but I do not believe we would be able to make any accurate conclusions, regarding S-Off anyway, from the data.
I suppose I am interested in knowing whether even a single M8 with the new firmware is able to S-Off with firewater but that's just the curiousity inside me.^^

Well, I'm about to give up on achieving S-Off. Being that I don't tinker with my device the way that I messed around with my previous device, I might be throwing in the towel. I'm possibly even giving up root. This is my first device that truly didn't need to be rooted.
But then again....there's free tethering....

The whole **** with how KitKat limits your SD card access alone is enough to get me to root.

Go root or go home. (Sorry, couldn't resist)
If you're already at home....well...you're cheating and you should feel bad....so bad that you might as well root anyway because things can't get much worse for you!
Just to let you all know....
Went back to a stock Rom, locked my bootloader, then received the .13 update(could only find .9 stock to use) then the .15 update and was able to unlock my bootloader again with the same .bin file I received from HTCDev, flash a custom Rom, and restore my root with no problems at all.
Tried Firewater again for the heck of it and it actually chugged one bottle....but then whelped me again! =/

For next time, I don't think you need to lock the bootloader to receive the OTA.

Hmm well I'd done everything else except for that and it failed so locked it and it worked. Maybe it was just a fluke but either way only took a couple seconds to both lock and unlock again. =)
Edit: Yeah pretty sure you do have to lock it if you're stuck S-On like I am. S-Off most definitely doesn't need to though.

Has the new radio helped your reception?
I can't s-off either. Big pain to go stock to get OTA's.
Wait, I admit I haven't kept up much on S-Off news, so you mean it's random if your M8 will be able to S-Off or not?

how i want to unlock gsm my sprint harman kardon edition if cannot s-off ?
is there any method to unlock gsm without s-off ?

Well I noticed that in certain areas I actuallly start picking up the Spark network where I never exceeded 3G speeds in the past so that is somewhat exciting. Didn't really have any reception issues persay previously but I would say it has been slightly improved overall.....or at least it seems that way to me. Could just be towers too I suppose but meh =)

Pretty much....We've discounted "batches" being the case by virtue of serial number comparisons and, as far as I am aware, no one has been able to identify any kind of pattern to it.
You would think that the newer the phone the less likely you could s-off with it...and perhaps that is the case....but we've seen people as recent as this week go in and get one, take it home and firewater s-off with it while I've had mine for much longer and can't...maybe the ones people are getting were sitting around for a long time I guess...All pretty much educated (or not educated) guessing at this point.
