Are the new Moto X's shipping with 4.4.2?
(I'm particularly interested in the GSM Dev edition?)
Still on 4.4. Apparently 4.4.2 is coming very soon.
Moto X's come shipped with 4.2.2 as that's what it comes out of box. If you get it with 4.4.2 out the box I wouldn't believe it was NEW. More like someone pulled it out the box and updated it lol

I got 4.4 on mine (arrived the 1th of januari) on delivery.
My mate who shipped it may have updated it for me without saying anything but I really doubt it.
Mine was with black front, bamboo back, blue accents and a signature on the back. Ordered it like one week after the bamboo was released.

He had to of updated. If it was out of box state it would deff be 4.2 its the original firmware for the Moto X (All carriers) but then again, because moto maker might make the phone and of course test (turn on what not) they might update, put in box with everything in and around it boom looks brand new but technically its been used (for a split second by the manufacture lol)

I got mine on the Cyber Monday sale (actually ordered it on the first day, not a code later), and it shipped with 4.2 and started downloading the 4.4 update immediately after it was updated before I had even left the Verizon store.
My roommate ordered a T-Mobile Moto Maker variant and got it last Wednesday. He said it didn't do any updates and said it has 4.4.
anyone seen this?
searching the net I found many posts and forums that states have begun yesterday via OTA update to 4.4.2

How about the dev version?
The more recently produced ones are likely just being flashed with 4.4 from the start instead of 4.2. Since 4.4.2 hasn't gone out widespread yet, they won't be flashing them to 4.4.2 from the factory quite yet, but I'm sure they'll start doing it after the rollout is complete.

Had my DE for 2 weeks now. Got it from Motorola.com. It came with the original 4.2. My first update was 4.2.2, the second was 4.4.

Your phone was shipped with 4.2.2, after the first update it was still 4.2.2, it just had some updated firmware to improve the radio and camera, the OS itself did not change. The second update(for most US carriers and Brazil) was to 4.4.

I saw the same story but my atrix hd isn't receiving the update yet, customer support isn't even aware of it. Is the roll out staggered? I wouldn't think so given it's over wifi.

Please don't confuse Bell Mobility with AT&T, they are different carriers and will release at different times.
This is what I get for being impatient. I installed the leak and shortly thereafter the OTA is available. I did the system check and it said an update was available and it clocked in at 11MB. I’m in the process of installing the update I downloaded. Will advise if there is anything different with my experience.

I have an AT&T branded Atrix HD. I was unrooted, installed the JB leak and after seeing the article on Android Central the OTA was available I thought I would check and see for hsits and giggles. Everything seems to be working and running smoothly. I don't necessarily need root - I took a two month sabatical from Android and tried Windows Phone and even had the Lumia 920 for 30 days but ultimately came back to Android. If I have a few ads when I browse online and I cannot install some hybrid version of Cyanogenmod I'm not worried.
---------- Post added at 11:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:12 AM ----------
I could have gotten the update because I was on that leak - not sure if the source of the leak was the soak test from Motorola, etc. I just got this phone less than 48 hours ago through a trade. Loving it so far but hell if I know how development has been on this device.
It looks like it's AT&T only from what I can see. However, it's not based on your phone, but what carrier you are using.
I am currently using a carrier unlocked Bell Atrix HD on AT&T, and I received the update. It was actually 4.1.2, and the Bell version of the update.
I am using an unlocked att atrix hd on tmobile. so should i receive the update?

Not sure. If it really is based on the carrier you are using, then you probably won't receive an OTA update. Maybe find somebody who has an AT&T microSIM card, put it in your phone, and check for update. Then, after the update, put your sim back in.
As title, does anyone know how long is AT&T holding the exclusive Moto maker this time? I was planning to order for t-mobile and got blocked off by it
can't really wait much longer on the phone almost tempted just go to back to the 2013 model instead......

You can only do that for 16gb but not 32 as of now
I know MotoMaker goes live for Verizon on Friday. Maybe T-Mobile sometime soon.
the pure version is the tmobile. it sounds like they are still out of the 32g. try a white face with 32gb option. and then go back to black. that was working a few days ago. to answer the question... there was no exclusive for at&t at all. the tmo/pure edition was available from the start and verizon is always the last to get their version in, it is cdma.
A little of topic but I wanted to pick up a screen protector today and Verizon said the phone doesn't exist, AT&T (my service provider) said they don't carry it. Best Buy was like "what?" and Radio Shack said they only have accessories for newer phones. I don't think there's an exclusion on it.

You could get 32 last week. They are sold out for now... must be too popular. As with the first-gen X, there is no T-mo specific model, jsust unlocked (why would you want anything else?). I'm holding out a few weeks - hopefully news of the new Nexus will give me another option.
still no luck as of today, I guess it's just out of stock for now.
Stopped by AT&T store today to check out the actual phone and they said they are not getting it in yet either. Wonder how long this thing get hold off from the market
The Verizon model goes on sale at motomaker tomorrow, so go hog wild!

Has anyone in the UK started to receive the OTA yet? If not I think we should keep each other in the loop on this thread?
Sent from my XT1092 using XDA Free mobile app
Not yet. I think it should come by the week after next week though. Of course though thats only a guess based on the other countries.
Why don't you just flash the reteu factory image, no need to unlock or even factory reset. Look at my older posts for what to flash (and what not...)
Unless it hasn't arrived in the next week or two, I'll be waiting for the GB version to arrive OTA.
With any luck it'll land before Christmas.
I have the retGB version and am still waiting. Can't really understand why the update hasn't come yet or even why there are retEU, retGB and retDE version when they all seem to be exactly the same. They support all the same bands etc so why not only have one version for EU?
Anyway I will wait another week if it still has not come by then I will convert my phone to a retEU. I live in Sweden so no real point for me to stick with retGB anyway, that I can see.
I think the different retail versions have subtly different default configuration settings depending on the region so they comply with local requirements. Nothing you can't change after the fact but it's probably part of the reason for the different retGB/ EU/ DE versions.
The fact it's not out in the UK yet is probably because the UK usually gets rolled out to last.

I wondered if in the UK and in Germany there are stronger consumer laws which would come in to play if there was a screw up with updates. Fixing the problems of broken or borked is not worth the hassle.
The nexus devices in the UK also seemed to be a bit slower to get the updates.
But that is just speculation. I would like to think that is the case and not just that we are left to last in the UK for no real reason!
My gf's nexus 5 got 5.0 weeks back when the rollout started on nexus devices (which I'm assuming was a worldwide rollout?)

What's the point of getting the update a week or two before the rest of them!! For my next purchase, I'm going to take Motorola's words on quick updates with a barrel of salt and look into other manufacturers.
So now there are rumours that the German OTA is rolling, I wonder how much longer the UK gets to wait??

Based on the following post from the thread "XT1092 Nandroid/Firmware" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57591807&postcount=36
It seem like there is an official Lollipop rom for retGB and we are now just waiting for it to rollout.
Unless I have completely missunderstood what is being posted in the "XT1092 Nandroid/Firmware" thread.
CHECKING FOR UPDATES INTENSIFIES
The ROM looks legit but I'm not going to flash it because it looks like it'll send the device back to stock. Keep those peepers peeled and remember to keep calm and capture the OTA URL: http://www.droid-life.com/2014/06/05/download-nexus-ota-url-file/
Check your system updates because my UK OTA is happening as we speak...
Just got the notification on my phone. I'm located in Sweden.
Not sure if I want to upgrade though... Upgraded my Nexus tablet a few weeks ago and I wasn't a fan of the new stuff.

I bought a Moto X on release day and have drifted astray from Android for most of 2014 and 2015.
I have been hunting for a sealed Rogers Moto X 2013 on Kijiji for 6 months and FINALLY scored one! This is my alltime favorite phone.
It's on release firmware 4.2.2. I'm unlocking the bootloader as we speak but which firmware should I leave it on? I know you can't downgrade.
This is a release day phone, pretty sure. The battery was so malnurished I had to charge it for 30 minutes on 2A charger for it to boot up lol.

Hmmm i see you got lucky lol :good: that is a really nice sealed phone... Leave it to the 4.4.4 firmware as all of the custom roms etc require the 30.B7 bootloader and the most stable bootloader is 30.B7 also if you leave it to 4.4.4 you can take the new 5.1 OTA easily. So I see your phone is from Rogers Canada. If you have unlocked the bootloader properly Go ahead and download http://www.filefactory.com/file/5z0...4.4.4_KXA21.12-L1.26_59_cid14_CFC_1FF.xml.zip and flash through RSD LITE. IF you dont know how to flash through Rsd lite refer to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-moto-x-return-to-100-stock-using-t2446515 Good luck :good:
No, no, I know how to do all these things lol. I was tweaking my first Moto X on here for six months or so.
I do appreciate the tips and advice however! I will leave it on stock 4.4.4 in anticipation for 5.1 as you said.
Bootloader has been successfully unlocked but I am having issues with sim unlock at cellunlocker.net. They told me my order is complete and sent me an unlock code that says "serial number invalid". I have used their services to unlock two other Moto X that were build the same month as this one. Phone is not blacklisted. I told them if it's not resolved by 6PM EST I am opening a PayPal dispute and going with another unlock service as if this phone is not unlocked by tomorrow, I will lose my job (doing afterhours oncall). Nothing personal.

i feel you man got in a similar trouble some days ago.. I had the exact phone a Black colour XT1058 from rogers canada and just like you i ordered the sim unlock code... and even after 10,12 days i didn't got my code.. Excellent. The only other person besides myself in the world with this variant. I have posted the the boot.img,recovery.img, and build.prop in another thread to have a custom recovery made, but havent heard anything back yet.
I too am having an issue finding anything for this phone. Not to tech savvy myself but I'm sure something will come soon. Black Friday at Walmart sold a ton of these phones so I'm sure it won't be long.
+1 person
Me too man bought on Black friday and looking to unlock this for t mobile . Let's see what happen ??
EDIT:- Is someone is using for other network than straightalk ??
I too snagged this phone at Walmart on Black Thursday right after a hearty meal of turkey and all the fixin's lol. So far, all I've been able to really accomplish on this device is to root it with KingRoot, replace KingRoot with SuperSU and enable tethering. We really do need a custom recovery for this variant. A permissive kernel would be nice too.
I bought one of these phones from black Friday online from Wal-mart the Straight Talk model but online it shows S920C instead of S920L.... Does anyone know the difference?
http://www.walmart.com/ip/46716426
I don't have the device in hand yet, should be here by the 4th to verify the model number. I posted the link though.

I've read somewhere that in order to update you have to get a new SIM card from Straight talk. I myself haven't test this theory so if anyone is able to update after doing so, please post your results for the rest of us.
I read the same just was wondering if there was another way thanks for the info.

If you do find another way let us know. Seems like a pain just to get an update.
So I talked to straight talk and they said that the ota issue don't qualify for a sim replacement. Not to sure how the other people got there's but they refuse to send me one. I will be doing more research to find another way. They also claim that 5.0.2 is the latest version for the phone but the others that have had the sim replaced have 5.1.1
I haven't seen mention of any SM-S920L's on 5.1.1.

Does this mean that LTE phones are unlocked? I always thought it was just a type of 4g just a bit faster
---------- Post added at 12:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:34 AM ----------
After further research I have found that 5.0.2 is the latest for the phone so I am assuming that the others that had this and claim it was fixed with new sim was probably just the timing of the update being available and was only to 5.0.2.
After getting the phone in hand it's indeed a S920L and not a S920C as shown on the Wal-Mart website

Nope, no way to change it. It's a CDMA/LTE phone on Verizon Wireless.
I have to say this is an awesome phone. I'm using straight talk with TWRP Recovery and Turbos Rom
