I've tried to install new Makay 4.4 ROM (based on CM).
My base rom was Makay 4.2.2 final ROM, so I updated kernel to semaphore 3.4.0, did full wipe and during rom install got error: (status 0).
Next I've panicked and flashed to 3 parted 2.3.6 - phone booted.
So I've tried once again with 3.4.0 kernel, got stuck on semaphore loading screen and after taking battery out I managed to go into CWM.
Did wipe as told, tried to install 4.4 rom and ended up with:
E: Unable to mount /data
E: Unable to mount /system
Should I wait more than 15 mins on semaphore screen to load? Is there a way to install this rom on my phone, or my i9000 isnt ready for that change yet?

Now every single attempt to install ROM thorough the CWM or TWRP diffrent than 3parted 2.3.6 return errors:
E: Unable to mount /data
E: Unable to mount /system
So I guess the solution won't be that simple

Any advice ?
Wich recovery do you use?
I think stock (background is android out a box)
If so:
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?6qtveztq9997b6n
Put on SD and install it. Reboot phone and then you can install any rom u want!
i have the same error with cwm 6.0.1.0
gonna try this recovery
I've got an i9000, and I've followed the instructions on the site..
Enter CWN
Wipe data
Format /system
Then mounted /system.
Then install the zip and get this error:
"E:Error in /sdcard/Slim-I9000-2.8.0-OFFICIAL.zip"
"(Status 7)"
"Installation aborted."
"Can't mount /emmc/"
I took out my removable sdcard before doing the install so that accounts for the last message.
I had this problem with 2.7 as well.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Someone wrote something about installing 2.6 first after doing the data wipe and system format since it reconfigures the directory structure. Not sure if this is true. Any help?
i've got the same problem. i mounted system,SD data but i received the error status 7 and an error on file install.sh. now i search possibile solutions

I did have luck installing the SlimBean 2.6.0 zip file first, then the gapps.zip. Then upgraded to 2.7.0 doing a cache and dalvik cache wipe. No problems... but still can't seem to get 2.8.0 to work. Though 2.7.0 works quite nicely it seems.
I think there's an update app that is supposed to let you do it from the phone itself, but I'm not sure if that's working properly yet.
yes, i have no problems on old version. Now i'm writing through my galaxy s with cyanogenmod 10 and i want to try again slim ROM.
Had the same problem, it was working with 2.7 just fine, tried to update to 2.8 and it didn't work, read there that updating semaphore kernel would work.
Installed semaphore kernel 2.4.4s (via heimdall) and got bootloop.
Tried to flash stock (xxjvu) via heimdall; everything went smoot but
100%
PARAM upload successful
Ending session...
Rebooting device...
Re-attaching kernel driver...
phone never booted, now I can't get to download or recovery mode, phone just stays off, no lights, nothing, I think is bricked.
Just ordered a usb jig via amazon LOL
If you came from another rom then slim 2.6 or 2.7 you have to flash 3 times

i flashed again the slim bean 2.8.0 for my i9000. I come back from cm10 thus i did wipe data/factory and format system. I mounted the system partition but i have got the same story. Error status 7......problem with install.sh and all aborted.
Is this a problem with the partition layout of cm10 after the cm nightly available from 26 september?
How can i install the slim bean 2.8.0 on my galaxy s?
edit: i can't install slim 2.8.0

How to install Slim 2.8
Yes! that error is a normal step of the installation!
When you install the zip of 2.8, you get the error. Then install it again and you will reboot. Power off your phone and restart CWM, then install again the zip! after this, you can install the extras!
If you are coming from any rom apart from slim bean 2.6 and 2.7 you will need to flash it 3 times although I think the advice is to flash 2.6 and then flash 2.8 rather than flashing 2.8 directly. I am currently on 2.5 and I'll updated to 2.8 on saturday but will do it step by step 2.6 > 2.8.

What's not clear to me is when they say flash 3 times, do they mean just try installing the 2.8.0 zip 3 times? Or do a wipe cache/dalvik cache between each try? Or reboot between tries?
I've got 2.7.0 running fine but it gives me an error on the 2.8.0 flash even if I try 5 times, and that's trying both with and without cache wipes between attempts.
I went from CM10 to slim bean 2.8. All I did was factory reset, wipe + cache and dalvik cache (I didn't mount system or anything like that).
ROM installed normally, no errors and no reboots. Been using it fine for the last few hours now.

I solved the issue in this way. we assume that it is correct to try mountind the system partition but if the error continues then it isn't the solution!
The slim bean team, cunningly, modified the file "Slim-I9000-2.8.0-OFFICIAL.zip"! they changed at 2012-10-25 00:07:28 thus, all those who download the file yesterday, they have the error status 7 etc...
You redownload the slim rom and then to follow the standard procedure:
- enter in recovery
- wipe data/factory
- format system (in mount and storage menu)
- install zip from sd (or external) card
- install slim gapps
- install optional gapps
- enjoy

You are correct. Just re-downloaded the 2.8.0 zip, SREC update and Gapps update files and everything installed nicely over 2.7.0 with just a cache/dalvik cache wipe.
Nice!
very good. i like very much this ROM. fast and with many RAM.392 mb ! it already includes the semaphore kernel 2.4.4s.excellent.

I rooted my AT&T Note 3 several months ago using 'towelroot', installed busybox, safestrap, xposed framework and SuperUser. Everything has worked fine until today. I went to swap batteries and after doing so, my phone wouldn't complete boot. It goes past the Samsung splashscreen and when it gets to the AT&T screen it hangs. It hangs after abouth the 3rd time around on the little AT&T globe. I went into recovery and tried to restore and it says that it is complete but 'failed'. I tried the 'factory reset' from within recovery but that didn't seem to do any good either.
I was rooted but have not installed any custom ROMS. The only thing new recently was the "GravityBox" xposed module.
Should I try Odin and which files should I flash? AP, BL, CP, CSC, all of them? Should I repartition?
Gravity Box isn't compatible with Samsung devices. Just Odin all 4 files, repartition shouldn't be necessary.

Try downloading an other ROM put it in your microsd card clear cache clear dalvik cache and factory reset then install that new rom under the stock slot...you can get into SS recovery so it can be fixed easily

Make sure though that if you had a 4.4.2 rom previously that you don't download a ROM that is older then that keep it the same as previous

Wipe/Factory reset in SafeStrap isn't a true factory reset...you have to flash a ROM after that or you won't have anything to boot to.

Yea if you can still get into SS flash a rom or restore a backup if you made one. The Odin install might be easier you don't have to unroot or anything like that just boot to download mode
I ended up doing the Odin thing, all 4 files. I know I lost a lot of stuff, and probably should have waited till I got your all expert advice and instructions. I got paranoid nothaving my phone available and went the desperate route.
Thanks everyone for all your help, I will certainly keep it handy, although I hopper there is no next time!

If I'm correct previous versions of slimbean had the theme engine within the rom..
After flashing 4.4.2-v5 there is no theme manager anymore..
I've looked everywhere within settings but cannot find it anywhere, or am I not looking in the right place..

Updating from slimbean 3.1.0
Hi Guys. Its been a long time since I updated my i9000 and I'm wondering what I need to do to get from my current ROM to the 4.4.2 stable build 5.
Currently my i9000 is running the old slimbean 3.1.0 (Android 4.1.2) and I updated CWM recovery in ROM manager to attempt install of the the latest stable but I got the status 7 error message
I did the factory reset, wipe cache and in mounts and storage section format system before attempting to flash the ROM but got above error
So I then did a recovery restore from backup I made just before attempting this update and I'm back to where I was
Where should I go from here? I've tried finding info on status 7 error msg. One search result suggested modifying the updater script to bypass this check but I'm not sure this is the best thing to be doing? I wouldnt want to brick the phone
EDIT: Okay I figured it out after a bit of trial and error. Had to run slimkat ROM zip then goto advanced and reboot to recovery again. and then re-run ROM zip and then it succeeded.
I then had issues with Gapps missing google services but after more trial and error (Mutliple reinstall attempts with different Gapps addons) got that working by installing latest weekly 4.4.4 and the mini 4.4.4 Gapps
4.4.2.build.5
I've just successfully installed 4.4.2 to my I9000. I'm impressed with high speed.
Setup which works fine:
Kernel: Semaphore_KK_3.4.2.tar + Odin3 v1.85
KitKat: Slim-galaxysmtd-4.4.2.build.5-OFFICIAL-4079.zip
Gapps: Slim_mini_gapps.4.4.4.build.8.x-385.zip
EnJoY!

Hi,
Seems that build 9 for galaxysmtd has been taken off from the website, or am I blind?
Does someone have the package? My aim is to get Phoneutil working somehow, and check if the USB port is set to PDA (my usb doesn't get recognized by computer atm)

@weazie your not blind, Slimroms have literally removed weekly build 9.0 for the i9000. i used it for a while and test other roms, after a week i decided to return and the rom was no where to be found, someone out there must have a backup of it..
Hello.
Do you have any idea how to activate Logcat? It's not working for me.

Need HELP
Hi,
I hope people here are still active...
I have a GT-I9000 to fix for my friend's dad. It is currently on Galaxian ROM 2.3.4 and having slowness issue. I looked around and found that this SlimROM may be the solution for this phone. I'm looking at flashing Slim-galaxysmtd-4.4.2.build.5-OFFICIAL-4079 with mini GAPPS directly after wiping out data, cache, etc.
EDIT:
I just flashed Semaphore 2.7.4 through Odin3 v.183 and it was successful.
HOWEVER, I couldn't flash anything on CWM. I am getting below errors:
E:failed to open /etc/recovery.fstab (No such file or directory)
E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/command]
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/log]

E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/last_log]
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/command]
After a few searches, it seems that I might have messed up the partitions. Still looking for solutions...
Custom Roms & Instagram issue
So far, I have tried a dozen of ROMs on my i9000 but Slimkat is by far the best.
No other ROM is more stable and reliable with so many functionalities. I especially like it that I can flip between the quick settings and notifications pages. And it is awesome that there is the inbuilt option to customize the hardware buttons! ...
And now the Instagram problem:
I have searched all over the internet You cannot upload a video to Instagram. It always fails on a custom ROM (fails immediately or stops halfway). It's been suggested that it is the phone's camera and its enhanced resolution, which differs from the stock, that causes this problem. Is there a way to fix this? For example, is it possible to flash the stock camera to get around it?

I may have an idea about how to fix your problem.
It is possible that you may have not rooted your stock ROM correctly.
You must place only the cf-root file in the PDA section. No bootloader or any other files should be ticked.
Here's what you should do:
1. Again flash a stock ROM on your phone using ODIN.
2. Root your device without ticking bootloader, phone or csc and leave other options as is.
M110s support?
can i use this rom on m110s?
I have flashed sucessfully but theres a problem ! Help
My wifi dosent workt or dosent even enable in setup :crying:I have flashed slim kat 4.4.2 and gapps 4.4.2 and I have GT19000M GKG3 IF STOCK.
I've spent about 6 hours on this
I just can't upgrade beyond 10.2
I did it by instructions,
flashed stock 4.1.2 using odin, rooted it, tried temp cwmp 4.0.6.8 to flash any rom beyond 10.2 and it just doesn't work
tried diferent kernels, CoCore Kernel, twrp, cm11 old/new, omnirom, cm12, and overall it always fails with set_metadata_recursive, or more correct ApplyParsedPerms: lsetfilecon of /system/lost+found to ubject_r:system_file:s0 failed: Operation not supported on transport endpoint
tried formating /system /data/ /cache /preload dalvik cache...
googling the reason behind this is that recovery is too old for cm11, so I should use either twrp or cwm higher than 4.0.4.5, which I both tried
I'm lost? how come nobody has this problem?
I'm currently on 10.2 with cwm 4.0.4.6, tried upgrading to oldest cm11 I could find (cm-11-20140104-UNOFFICIAL-janice.zip) thinking this could help but no avail
