How can I get my phone activated? I ordered the 32gb Moto X on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013. Had to go to at&t store a get the card. Got the Navy Blue back and Black front. With black accents. I also order an extra skip, earphones, clear snap case, and car charger. The phone status said it will get here by Sept. 4, 2013. Got to shipping emails yesterday about accessories. But today, FedEx brings accessories and phone. Could not activate. Then I went to at&t store. The At&t guy could not activate. He calls at&t support and they could not do any thing. Told me they would open a case, sent me a text that is should be resolved by Sept. 9th 2013. I'm thinking that I have a 14 day window to return the phone. Call Motorola, after being switch around from one dept to another, they get someone in activation. After about 40 minutes on the phone, she talks to her supervisor, still could not activate. Told me she would see what she could do and call me tomorrow. This is strange. They could not locate my IMEI or Serial number in their system. The phone even has my "Power On" name I picked out. Any one else have this problem? BTW, the at&t people here are now thrilled working with these moto x phones.

I went to activate online and the IMEI number they had listed for me didn't match the one I had on my new phone so I had to call. For some reason it took a little while. They asked me if I had done a "cross upgrade" I said no, was put on hold a few minutes and when the lady came back to the phone it was done.
I think I was on the phone with AT&T about 20 minutes.
We have to "activate" it? I can't just pop in a SIM and be done with it? Ugh... So much for using this on Aio.

sadly the Moto X uses nano Sim. I imagine people coming from an iPhone 5 or a Nokia 1020 will be fine.
Everything else is micro sim.
Why they didn't activate the sim at the factory is a mystery.
It took me 2 hours on the phone and an hour in the store to get mine working. They did no training with their phone support for the moto x

At&t employees do not seem that interested in selling the motto x. I do not know why Motorola gave at&t the exclusive for Moto Maker. Just about all their employees in the retail store use Iphone. It should be at&apple. If Motorola or Google send a "shopper" to a retail store from at&apple, they will see why the sales will soon dry up for the moto x from at&t_appple.

Possibly because you can't have 2 sims related to the same number and I doubt many people would want to go phoneless for 4 days as a requirement.

AT&T sales people are the worst and have no idea what they're talking about most times because they just get the specs and told what to sell more of. I'm pretty sure ATT wanted the exclusive to try and get away from AT&Apple sterostype

This is easy to fix. Ask your carrier this question: "May I please have a nano sim? Thanks!"

Everyone,
I recently purchased the MOTO X as part of a new ATT plan, but want to be able to move my phone number over in order to avoid any convenience. I am told that it has to be done in store and then I was told that it had to be done over the phone. Noone knows how the hell to set this system up, but has anyone else had a similar experience with PORTING their phone over as well as the overall upgrade process or have they just been terrible in general.

That is too simplistic for at&t apple. They do not have the same nano sims here at this at&t store. They got an email in their updates that the new sims will come next week.
Well, today call Motorola. Nothing happened on their part. Asked for a RMA, he gives me an at&t number. The rep on the phone tried to activate it. Said the sim card has been activated. I had another sims card from at&t store yesterday. It had been activated also. So, she will overnight me(supposedly) sim I can use. When I got off work today, I decided to stop by the at&t store. One on the managers was helping me and the he said something about getting a memo that the nano sims the had was not the right kind. Suppose to be a little smaller. They will get some next week. Just don't know whet to believe. I inquired when my 14 day return windows starts? The day the phone ships was the answer. That was Tuesday. With the Labor Day Weekend coming, look like a week will pass before I can even use the phone. Then just one week to decide if I want to keep it. THIS IS CRAZY.
I had to spend about an hour on the phone to activate my X. The rep (an exceedingly patient young man) eventually pinpointed the problem with the grandfathered 2 GB data plan. Once he was finally able to activate, I had to reboot it before it worked, but once I did so, it has worked just fine. Not sure if this will assist anyone else, but thought it worth mentioning. :fingers-crossed:

Sorry to here about your story. I would have returned it also. I'm getting my Moto X today and hope I don't have any issues. I'm coming from tmobile and if there are problems activating the phone or they tell me I have to go to the AT&T store, I'll just return the phone, and stay with tmobile.

I bought the 32 GB nexus 5 from Google received it in 3 business days. Little did I know how hard it would be to get a Sim card from Sprint. To make a long story short there is a gentlemen selling them in eBay. I didn't think to look there until I called every sprint store and tried calling sprint 3 times (hoping to a different answer). Just thought I'd let everyone know this is a possibility if you are like me and stuck with out a Sim card.

If you ever in that situation again, Full sized sims cards can be chopped down to the size of a microsim and work perfectly fine.
Just cut it to size

If they are full size cards, they are really easy to cut to size for the N5. Many cell phone stores will do this either for free or for a small nominal fee. You can also try to do it yourself, if you are really careful. Or you can buy a micro SIM cutting tool for a few dollars.
Of course, if all you can get are nano SIMs, then you need to get an adapter instead. Again, shouldn't cost more than a few dollars.

same thing with me got the 32gb nexus 5 from the play store but I got a sim card ordered on nov 6th through chat but it still hasn't shipped yet so then I asked again on chat today when its gonna be shipped and was told it could be 10 days. even tried a few sprint stores around me and none of them have one.
Tell them you need a SIM card for a HTC One or S4 and don't show them the Nexus 5 until they bring it out. For some reason a lot of them are under the impression that the Nexus 5 uses some kind of magical SIM card and will just tell you they don't have it.
Thankfully I had a sim from my Htc One. BUT I since switched to tmobile after being on my moms sprint plan for about 4 years. It was a great decision to switch.
I have one
I ordered my N5 through Amazon to use on AT&T. I have the Sprint SIM card that came with it. I'm not using it, PM me if you any of you want it. I'm in NY to give you an idea of how fast it will get to you. I can send it out tomorrow.
I recall reading around(cant find source) that roughly 15,000 Sprint sim cards just went up and missing. They dont know if there were stolen or just misplaced. I will try to dig up some source for you all soon.
i called customer care and was told they would be happy to send me one but they were back ordered. it took me 4 stores but i was able to get one a sprint store just outside of boston. they had two. actually pulled out a baggie that said nexus 5 on it. thank god. hoping my phone will be in next week.

No they absolutely do not. Just made an Israelite journey out of several stores and they don't have any. Most are even sold out or out of stock of the 16GB model they carry which comes with a Sprint SIM.
Even tried begging if they could give or sell me one from any busted/broken/RMA'd Sprint phones that use micro SIM (S4, HTC One etc), but no dice.

Nano or micro SIMs? Everyone i went to had a boat load of nano SIMs but no micro SIMs.
Just pickup a nano to micro converter from Best Buy its about $10.00 and works like a charm
After being told by the local stores that I could not have any of their SIM cards, I hopped online with Sprint World Wide Chat last Friday, 15 NOV. They told me the cards were back ordered, but they would be happy to order one for me and ship it when it comes in at no charge. I accepted their offer and got a ship notice on Tuesday. The card arrived yesterday. I guess my point is that "back ordered" does not necessarily mean an indefinite wait. My N5 shipped last night and I should have it in my hands Monday morning, so I'm a happy camper right now.

The Moto Maker site said delivery in 7 days. Googling that shows anywhere from 3 to 7 days. What are real world delivery figures?
Also I assume that I will have to go to AT&T for the nano SIMS. Do they charge for those?
TIA for the help.

I bought mine on Monday and it arrived yesterday so looks like about 4 days from order currently. I'm on Verizon but rather than go to the store and get a sim, I just used a pair of scissors and cut it down to nano size. It was pretty easy and worked like a charm! There are also tools you can buy that simplify it if your interested. I used this article as a guide: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/08/07/how-to-cut-a-micro-sim-into-a-nano-sim-for-your-moto-x/
I ordered a vzw dev edition Monday it arrived Thursday.

I recently purchased the Moto X as a upgrade on one of the other lines on my account (tiered plan) with the intent on using it on my line (unlimited).
Should I activate it on the upgraded line (tiered) first then swap out the sim cards and use it on my line after?
Or
Should I just put in my current Sim card and I'm good to go. I know I'll have to cut my sim.
Just curious if Verizon wants to see that phone show up on the line it was purchased for.

It shouldn't matter, but it might show up as your line having a pending order until you activate that phone on the line it was purchased on, which would not let you make any other orders on that line until the order is "completed."
keep unlimited
i found a post on slickdeals about how to keep your unlimited. I ordered my phone through motomaker and used my own upgrade. when the phone came i took the sim out right away and cut it. put in my old sim and it was up and running with no issues. no activation needed and i still have my unlimited data
Now that is an interesting possibility. The Best Buy method has become unreliable at best (actually failed for me after 15 days), but perhaps using Moto Maker to order and not using the new SIM would indeed work. I would love confirmation if that works for other people too

It will work fine if you pay full retail obviously.
If you want to upgrade you have to pick a new tiered plan before you can order. That is unless you have an extra line already on a tdp.
I paid full retail and it activated no problem using the new sim also. Which is fine because my old Sim didn't have the secured element or whatever so things like Isis cried no. Always used wallet anyway

What do you mean it failed after 15 days? I just received a new Moto X from MotoMaker and popped in my old SIM in place of the new one and I've had no problems. Please explain what happened after 15 days in your situation.
When I ordered a phone through Best Buy online, I put my old SIM into the phone after it arrived, and everything looked good (kept my UDP). 15 days later, my UDP vanished and I was on a 2GB TDP. I called Verizon, they were confused (because I had never selected the TDP) and tried to figure out what happened. Eventually they determined that Best Buy's system had automatically pushed through a change in my plan that day (exactly after the return window I suppose). They went ahead and changed it back to UDP for me. I consider myself surprisingly lucky that Verizon actually changed my plan back. They were surprised by Best Buy too.

Hello all. Though we know the N6 works on VZW and units are beginning to ship out, I am reading reports (android police)VZW may not activate new nano Sim cards for active subscribers because it wasn't bought from VZW.
Specifically, a phone purchased directly from Motorola is presenting issues.
As more Motorola units ship, has anyone had a problem? My current phone uses a micro Sim. Sure, I could cut it but am afraid I might screw it up.
Please share your experiences.

The new one needs to be a 4ff nano SIM and it does not work because it needs to be activated and provisioned on your account. You call the number and give them your old phone imei and they activate the SIM. Then place it in the n6.

I told them on the phone that I bought my wife a 2013 Moto X and that she needed a nano sim card for it and they sent it out right away.
When I received it, I used it as a template to cut down my wife's micro sim to a nano sim. It was easier that way.
My super duper cutter arrives today. When my phone arrives and if i screw up I can always get a new micro Sim and recut it instead of going through the VZW crap of trying to get a nano. The store is right down the street from me so not an issue.

Yeah, I called last night and just said I wanted a nano sim, they shipped it out 2 day fedex shipping, for free. No problems, no questions, just said I needed a nano sim for a new phone.

I just called. They are shipping one out. They asked me what kind of phone and I said iPhone 6. Should be no problem right?

So I went to Verizon today to try and activate it and they told me that I needed to have a phone that used a nano sim to activate it, which means droid ultra, droid maxx, droid turbo, and the newest droid razr. No iPhone nano sims will work in it from what this rep told me. I have a friend with a droid ultra, so I'm gonna take him up to verizon and have them activate my sim in his phone and reboot it to fix the mm issues with my sim in it, and then move the sim over to the N6.
Big red is definitely not making this easy for us.

There is another thread on here as well as Droid Life saying it will work. I have an adapter so I can put it into my current Micro SD HTC one phone with adapter, activate it and then use the nano SIM in Nexus 6 according to the thread.
Edit::: I found out the iPhone 6 does not have NFC so Verizon is sending me a nano for the HTC m8 which will work. So, you are correct that technically an iPhone 6 won't work totally because of the NFC. Thanks for pointing that out!

All Sims are the same. Don't worry about it
I went into a Verizon retail location today (Village At Orange - 1500 E Village Way, Ste 2205 Orange, CA 92865) and they were worthless.
I explained to the representative what I needed and they told me they couldn't do it unless I activated it in store. I explained that would be a pain, but that I did have an adapter and was willing if need be. They said fine.
The representative then went over to a table with me and said that my device (Note 3) was not a nano sim device. I explained again that I had an adapter and he said there was nothing he could do. I asked if he could call someone and he told me he wouldn't. I then asked for the manager's card.
On my way home I called Verizon and they're sending a card out. It'll get here Monday. If my phone beats the sim I'll just trim my current one down. I'm disgusted at the service I received at the store. The representative acted like he couldn't care less. Really, really frustrating.
