[Q] Htc One X Unique problem - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So Long story short, I have an Htx one x(l) evita,
the wifi was not working at all(I assumed firmware issue) so I tried to flash the stock rom,
Unlocked bootloader and tampered are effective but NOT S-off(it is S-on) I tried to flash a custom rom(its rooted as well) against my better judgement, NOW the issue is it is not bricked, it reads through adb, loads to bootloader, but there is NO OS, when going through the files, the folders are there, however it will not go past the HTC splash, it reboots to my teamwin recovery OR recovery page(3 androids on bottom of the screen)
Since I bought this phone used, and now tampered with it, what are my options? When in teamwin I can do almost anything but restore has an empty folder, and when I go into the advanced. to fix permissions, it fails.
Any thoughts? ASIDE stop flashing roms, ( believe me, when or If I get this fixed, I am done playing with htc roms, samsungs are so much easier)
any help is greatly appreciated

[Q] I think I bricked HELP!

[apologies if this appears again but I don't think the first time I posted this it actually worked]
I'm trying to load a custom rom on my brother's Incredible S, I've unlocked the boot loader no problems, have Clockwork Recovery v5.0.2.0 and following the guide on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105 I tried to install a rom but it wouldn't go past the HTC screen. it wasn't until after when I found out about the whole S-OFF/S-ON thing so I'm currently stuck with no rom and in S-ON mode.
From what I have read I need to be in ADB mode in order to S-OFF but I can't load a ROM on until I have S-OFF in the first place.
I'm coming from a GNex so this is a fair bit different to what I'm used to.
I don't have a nandroid backup but if I did would that help me here?
Also is there anywhere I could get a nandroid backup from?
Also, Also I tried the RUU recovery restore thing both for my area and the WWE (i think that is meant to be the general one) but it didn't work (I'm AU Optus if it helps)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK so the other thread did come through, not sure how to delete a thread or even if I can so if a MOD can delete this thread that would be great.

Major root issues HELP! partial brick?

*First of all, I'm posting here because I haven't had enough posts for the dev section yet..*
So...I've never had any issues rooting and installing ROMs.. not that I've done a TON, but two phones and 3 tablets, so I little ha..
Got my HTC One unlocked and rooted fine with the All-in-one tool, which worked good enough, but when I tried to get a ROM working is when I ran into issues.
I guess I'll tell the main issue first and then explain what happened..
Either only boots to bootloader/fastboot,
OR
Gets stuck on HTC logo and never leaves..
Am I screwed?
What I did that I think effed it...
After getting rooted and running, I tried to install RenovateROM_1.0...kept just randomly stopping and giving an error about "asset failed..." and just booted normally (no ROM)
I googled the hell out of that I tried editing the updater-script like I saw in so many places, and then I screwed up cause it was 3:30am and I was sick of trying.
I was gonna wipe the cache and data before I tried installing again, but I ended up wiping System in there and possibly Dalvik cache as well..
(I know that was stupid now!!!! Feel free to remind me haha..)
And now it's stuck.
If I try install a ROM, it says it completes, but won't boot past fastboot/bootloader.
If I re-flash my TWRP with fastboot, then reboot-bootloader, THEN reboot, it gets the HTC and stays.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks much in advance..
-Shaun
I did that too kinda (wiped everything on accident) Try to ADB sideload the Rom in the advanced options to TWRP otherwise you have to download the RUU and relock the phone up etc. And start over.

Thanks for the reply! Can you possibly link me to a decent tut on how to use RUU? I never have.
I guess I can just look too, but seems like they're always different depending on the phone!

It's under Sprint HTC One Dev so I figured? Is that accurate or am I missing something?
I'm trying to start ADB sideload from twrp and it just sits at "Starting ADB sideload feature..."
and ADB says "error: no device found"
thanks for helping out!

AFAIK there are 4 HTC One forums
HTC One
Sprint HTC One
AT&T HTC One
T-Mobile HTC One
You may have flashed a rom for another variant do you have a link I didn't see that rom listed
Your right bigdaddy, shaun you flashed a gsm rom i'm guessing from the unbranded forum.
Download the ruu from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250904
boot your phone into bootloader and make sure your bootloader is in fastboot
extract that ruu file to somewhere you can find easily maybe the desktop
open your command prompt and navigate to your android sdk folder and run this fastboot command
fastboot oem lock
then after you've relocked the bootloader
run the command
fastboot oem rebootRUU
run the setup.exe from the ruu file and let it return you to stock

that's actually vipers rom.

I found this link on the m7 forum is this what you flashed? if so this for the non-branded gsm htc one and not the cmda sprint htc one
it also looks like you flashed the renovate rom initial release, That dev is using svn to update nightlies. I'm guessing the "sprint support" is in one of those updates and not the initial release

good deal. Just remember to read everything before flashing. And if your unsure ask. I've had very minimal issues with flashing and changing settings but when I have its been totally my fault for not completely reading an op. if you flash and go back to read a step you've missed its usually too late.

Yeah dude, you're lucky that the international rom you flashed had asserts in it to check device type, or you might've had an actual paperweight on your hands. Stick to the Sprint forums next time.
Yeah I scared myself for sure.. even this morning activating it scared me a little cause normally use the DEC, but it said 'not a valid Sprint ESN', and the HEX
worked great.
Any ideas why that would be?

[Q] Htc one stuck on bootloader.

Hey guys, I need some help, also Im new to this sorta and I apologize if this thread isnt where its supposed to be, anywho i rooted my phone and was installing different roms, just trying them out, i had installed the android rev HD 12.1 rom on to my HTC One and it was working fine, but I watched a couple of reviews on the viperone roms so i decided to switch over just to check it out, i started the flashing and all was going well at first but then it froze for a good while stuck at 0% so i decided to restart the phone... turns out that was a horrible idea because now my back ups are gone and my other roms are missing too. well that was the original problem, I looked around and everywhere they said I had to reinstall my ruu to basically factory reset the phone and the first step is re-locking the bootloader... so i did, now it says "tampered- re-locked" and every now and then it says "security warning." then i started looking for my comapnies ruu and i cant find one... can anyone help?
i forgot to mention i have a T-Mobile HTC One.

Basically, if you want to stay back on root, i suggest you unlock your bootloader again and reflash your custom recovery and move on from there. After that you should flash a stock rom if you want to,by just searching it up in the htc one forums. After you have done that you probably have to start over, which means making a nandroid backup and NOT FORGETTING TO BACK UP. Your roms and all your info will be gone after you unlock the bootloader so remember to back up all your contacts and such into your google acc. Have fun rooting! XD

This is probably the best advice for you.
Just something I wanted to add,
Unlock your boot loader then flash a custom recovery just like the first time you did it.
Then boot to recovery and "adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/ " to get a ROM on your phone, and flash away.

You just need to unlock your bootloader again using htc developer page. As long as you can get your phone to bootloader you should be ok. I have never used one of the all in one root etc.. things since it is so easy on htc.
unlock bootloader, fastboot flash recovery newesttwrp.img.

[q] Help!!! Sprint HTC One stuck in bootloop after installing custom ROM

Sorry if I'm a noob, I'm new here. And I'm also sorry if this is a little long but please help me, it's pretty urgent.
I rooted my Sprint HTC One successfully a couple of months ago and put CyanogenMod on it.
All went well until I had some mobile network issues with CyanogenMod (which probably could've been fixed but I'm stupid so I couldn't figure it out) so I decided to switch to Android Revolution HD. I don't know what went wrong while putting Android Revolution on, but something got messed up and I got stuck in the bootloader. I couldn't turn the phone off, boot into recovery, or boot into Android. I flashed Team Win Recovery with Hasoon2000's All in One Toolkit and it actually worked to my surprise. I used it to wipe the phone completely and flash CyanogenMod again. Unfortunately, I got stuck in a bootloop. What a surprise . After monkeying around for a while, I went back and flashed AOKP with Team Win Recovery. AOKP went into a bootloop for several minutes, but then it finally booted into an Android home screen. About 5 seconds after booting up, it froze and restarted again. This process continued, with it booting up for several seconds before shutting down and restarting again.
I don't know how to fix this, but I'm fairly sure my phone isn't bricked, as I can go into the recovery and go into Android for a few seconds.
So, that's my dilemma. I'll do anything to fix this as I'm still in my contract for another 500 days. Please help.
P.S. What does S-OFF and S-ON mean and does that have anything to do with my problem?
EDIT: Turns out, Android Revolution HD is not compatible with Sprint. So that must be the problem. I'm an idiot for not realizing that, but at least now we know what caused this problem.

Android revolution is a GSM only ROM. No sprint support. Do a quick search, you'll find a way to fix it. The number of people who've done this is astonishing .
AT&T HTC M7ul
Baad Newz's InsertCoin 3.4-2
Flar2's Bulletproof 6.2
I would probably just format the internal sd and ruu or otg the stock ROM and see if that works. I do know a lot of the Roms aren't compatible with sprint models. Honestly I doubt tour phone is "bricked". That's a strong word to use around here especially if you're able to get into recovery and install a ROM. Devs here ALWAYS post instructions which if followed correctly, u won't have any issues.
Do you get any messages before the phone restarts, after u successfully install a ROM?
Also, s-off and s-on, s stands for security. If you have to ask what it is or if you need it, you should probably leave it alone.

I don't get any messages. On some ROMs it displays a welcome screen that lets me choose a language but after choosing a language it restarts, and on other ROMs it will go straight to the home screen and restart a few seconds later.
Seems like the problem is that Android Revolution isn't compatible with Sprint. I'll try to find a way to get CyanogenMod working again somehow, but is there a way I can get stock HTC Sense back?

GSM phones and CDMA phones have different partition setups. Flashing a non-Sprint rom did more damage than just a ROM flash can fix. As I said, the fix has been gone over in detail many times... I'd find you a link but I'm not at home, so just search around.

Probably best to return to stock and start over. There's an Sprint RUU over there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428276
and as Cory said, there are other threads that have dealt with this (can't remember them though), so do some googling.

I've been searching for this link also for awhile. I mistakenly flashed Android Revolution 40.1 to my HTC ONE Sprint.. When i went to restore from my back up after that it got stuck in a boot loop. I'm able to connect adb I've wipes my internal storage and side loaded and pushed several roms. Looks like I just need to figure out how to fix the partition.. I've been googling for 2 days and finally this makes sense.. If you by chance have a link I would be forever grateful.
Thanks Sprint HTC ONE 1.55 Rooted s-off unlocked
Actually, y'all are not the only ones to flash this ROM by mistake. Right now my phone is caught in a boot loop. It sucks. However, I am confident that if I am diligent about looking I will find a solution. After all, what I have learned thus far is by trial and error. My only hope is that this mistake is not costly.
That said, if anyone finds a solution or knows of a solution that will take me back to stock please post it. Any assistance with this problem is greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Oanh S.

Posting for help in someone else thread is not the way to go. Their are a bunch of us here to help, but you need to start your own thread here in the Q&A section.
If you have the same problem as someone else and you read their thread and the solution did not work for you, feel free to start your own thread!
I see you posted here [Tutorial][Rescue]Sprint HTC One users that flash 4.3 GSM roms on their CDMA devices. Where did you get stuck ? the instructions seem simple enough

WAIT! Your phone is almost there! Don't write off AndroidRevolution. I'm also running an htc one on sprint (m7wls). If you are reaching the unlock screen but after that get a white htc logo or your system crashes on its own you have an easily fixable problem. Actually, this will probably solve any mobile network problems on sprint.
I succesfully got stock rom working from AndroidRevolution by flashing the latest Sprint Radios from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2406330
Use adb to push it to your device then flash it using TWRP or another recovery program. Flashing a non-sprint rom will cause future roms to crash until you flash the radios.

[Q] Stuck in 4.3, HBOOT 1.55, S-ON, Relocked

I thought that ditching my who-knows-how-old Evo 4G would've saved me from unlocking/rooting/flashing hell but of course not.
The Phone:
Sprint
HTC One
Android - 4.3
S-ON
HBOOT - 1.55
Radio - 1.00.20.0913 (who cares)
Image - 3.04.651.2
All I Really Need:
I need to flash the phone from Sprint to Page Plus. So I need to get it into Diag mode. For that, I need the MSL/SPC.
The Problems:
Revskills and a few other programs + a handful of apps give me all types of errors. I decided to root and use an app that requires root to get the MSL, figuring it would work better. Unlocked my bootloader through HTCDev and attempted to flash a custom rom.
Tried 5 versions of TWRP and try to load recovery - for 4 of them it says loading recovery and then starts the phone as if recovery doesn't exist. TWRP 2.5.0.0 loads up but the touchscreen won't react (I figure that version is too old for my specs.) Both versions of CWM "work" but don't allow access to wherever I'm saving the SuperSU.zip and gives me a list of errors similar to "E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command"
Where I'm At
Just flashed RUU Stock specific to my image. Figured I'd ask before going through that misery again.
Where do you guys suggest I go from here?
I really just need the MSL but root would be awesome to have.
Any and all help (and moral support) is greatly appreciated!

Yes, I did. I was focusing on the last part of your post:
"I really just need the MSL but root would be awesome to have.

I posted link that helped me get rooted. The Experts/Developers need to help with the rest of your needs. Sorry I do not know it all.
Apologies

Apologies for the hot-headed response. Super frustrated right now. I'm gonna go through that guide again for now.
No worries. That is how I viewed your response-frustrated. I hope someone can help you out. You might send a message to BD619 if nobody post suggestion. He is extremely knowledgeable and may be of help.
Pm LymeWire and ask nicely if he can get the MSL for you. He got mine no problem.
Is he

Thanks for the recommendation! Is he a Sprint employee who can just pull it from the system?

I had a lovely chat with 4 or 5 of them the other day on chat. Anyway, there was no number on the phone since it was brand new and I'm not activating with Sprint. I got the MSL by doing a ton of hard resets and updating every time the os came back up. So if anyone else has the issue of MSL readers, even MSL Utility, not working, hard reset and keep updating everything your phone lets you update (os, hboot, whatever). Then just run the damn thing again. Thanks for all the help though
