My Xperia V is not being detected in Windows 8.1. It's only detected when using MTP or MSC, not Flash mode of fastboot mode. Before you start throwing "You must disable Driver signature enforcement" at me, flash and fastboot works for my Xperia Z1. I'm trying to relock my Xperia V's bootloader so I could give it to my uncle. Look at the attachment to see what message I got from Windows when connecting.
At first I thought having CM11, 4.4 kitkat was the problem. So I flashed a stock-based rom and kernel. Still no success.
That's interesting, as I've read a few times in different threads that Windows 8.1 simply won't allow the fastboot/flashmode drivers to be installed correctly (even with disabling Driver Signature Enforcement). I assume you have tried using different USB ports on your machine (and possibly even a different cable?)
It does not work on windows 8.1, due to Microsoft changing the USB stack to their own prohibitory driver. Microsoft have announced that there will be a fix in Feb, lets hope they keep to their word.
I have broken my windows 8.1 install many times trying to hack the USB stack, with Windows 8 specific drivers, but it's a no go. I guess we will all have to wait until the is an official fix from Microsoft in this respect.
I don't get why I can get my Xperia Z1 to connect but not my Xperia V :/

The Z1 is a year newer than the V... Maybe sony made the Z1 fastboot and flashmode more compatible with win8.1?

hmm..try using a virtual machine software(like vmware) with a win7 image!
It is a problem with Windows 8.1 there is no fix for now. You will need to downgrade to at least Windows 8 or previous

Try using SUS, youll need to run SUS in compatibility for windows 7 though to see the SP listed.

That's bull****. You only put the Sus in cm, not the whole windows. You simply can not upgrade the phone using w 8.1.

Hello,
I was able to update my phone using SEUS under Windows 8.1 x64, up to date.
I started SEUS using :
- "Solve compatibility problem" right click menu
- "Solve problem" (2nd option)
- "Application started previously under older OS"
- Selecting Windows 7 compatibility mode.
The Xperia SP re-apperared in the device list, and I was able to go through the whole update process.
Hope it will help other people to pass that frustrating moment :highfive:

Hi folks.
It's been a while since I was last on XDA Developers site. And once again I need help please!
I cannot install the correct USB drivers for the Xperia Z to my laptop using a USB cable?!
I can connect the USB cable, and the contents of the phone are displayed. However before flashing the current ROM, I could see two storage areas - Internal Memory and SD Card Memory. Now I only see a list of files/folders are root level. I don't think this has anything to do with my USB driver installation problem?
Either Windows 7 does not recognise the USB drivers or I am not using the correct drivers for the Xperia Z (C6603)?
The phone itself works fine.
I have searched this forum and the whole of XDA Developers site and found several solutions, but to no avail. I am on the verge of pulling my hair out (whatever hair I have left, that is)!
I followed several solutions found on XDA Developers.
1. I downloaded and installed the flashtool-drivers.exe, and in the process I selected the required Xperia Z and SO-02E drivers and successfully installed these, however the yellow exclamation mark is still displayed in Device Manager??
2. I also downloaded the Xperia Z drivers from http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/. Yet still Device Manager displays the yellow exclamation marks under Modems, next to Sony HS-USB Android Modem and under Ports, three entries C6603.
3. I cleaned the registry with CCleaner, but still the yellow exclamation marks are seen in Device Manager.
I don't know where to go from here. Am I doing something wrong? Have I missed something? Am I using the incorrect drivers?? Do I need to start again??
I have attached images of Device Manager, Failed USB installation and Flashtool driver installation.
Phone
Xperia Z (C6603)
Android version 4.2.2
Build: 10.3.A.0.423 (flashed using the flashtool)
Laptop
HP Elitebook 6930p
Windows 7 64-bit
I need your help please!
there are drivers in flashtool folder

Ok well go to your device manager and uninstall the xperia z driver, restart your computer and after that install the drivers using the flashtool driver program again
thanks for the replies guys. Appreciate your advice.
I uninstalled the Xperia Z drivers from Device Manager and restarted my laptop. I then ran the Flashtool-drivers application and installed the relevant drivers, unfortunately the same problem still exists.
Not sure what else to do? May be flash some other ROM, although not sure whether this will have any bearing on the current issue?
Hi folks.
As per my problem above, does anyone have further idea on how to resolve the issue please?
Desperately need help!

Hs-usb mode
HELLO how enable hs- usb mode for sony
I was using Miui ROM (miui_nian_sc03e_4.4.10) and decided to move out.
I used Mobile Odin (MobileODINLite-v4.10 and MobileODINLite-v4.10) to flash Stock Rom (I9305XXUEML8_I9305OLBEML6_I9305XXUEMK1_HOME.tar).
After flashing the stock rom I realized I was unable to connect to my PC.
I am on Windows 8.1 and it says that the USB is not recognized or malfunctioned.
I tried various combinations using *#7284# (I see Qualcom Settings with this code - read somewhere that I should see Samsung) and *#0808#, 'uninstalled the Samsung USB Driver, Rebooted, Reinstalled, Rebooted', Uninstall Kies and reinstall, used the toothpick trick and still it does not work. Also tried framaroot.
Under Device Manager in my laptop I can also see an error message 'Unknown USB Device'.
I have also tried to use another laptop on Win7 as well as changing different original cables without success.
Of course I have also done, factory reset, wipe anything that the default recovery allow me to wipe.
The phone is still charging as normal and I do not seem to have problems with calling or messaging and no functions seems to be affected accept that I am unable to access my phone storage from a pc/laptop now.
Seeking the advise of all the gurus here. Can someone advise or point me to any other resource?
Hi.
Try on other USB cable. Maybe it broke meanwhile. Also try on other PC. You need to check all options before going to hardware related problems. If it won't help, look into USB port and gently clean it up (mechanical way, no compressed air).

Tried that. I used a fine tooth brush to brush inside too.
I used various cable that work on my other phone but it still didnt work this phone. S3 LTE
Wonder if it was due to Miui Rom and maybe the way they manage the storage. Any ideas?
Yeah. It may use different protocol and official soft may require driver that you don't have on your PC. However, trying with other PC is highly suggested. Then return to miui to check if it's 100% software related. You can also try switching to USB 2.0 port. Back in the days I had problem with Android devices with my Dell laptop on USB 3.0 port while on 2.0 everything was fine.

when you we're on MIUI and connected phone to PC it had windows 8.1? what version exactly?
i have windows 8.1 Pro N and couldn't see phone in windows...turned out i needed a media center pack(or something like that)..installed and worked like a charm.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have tried 4 different PCs. All USB 2.0 and I am on Stock 4.3 and cannot go back to Miui since my phone can't seem to be recognised by the pc now.

I am now on Stock Rom and it cannot be seen on all 4 laptops. Win 7 Home and Win 8.1. It used to work on Win 7 so I believe it should still work on Win7 with same set of cables.
Wonder if its somthing that messed up in the transition of Miui to Stock ROM using Mobile Odin.
it could be related to mobile odin....especially if you didn't made a full wipe since those 2 are very different...
flash stock via Odin 3.09 as AP from PC, not mobile odin and it will work...
in download mode(odin mode) phone will show up for sure...on windows 8.1 or 7...just wait for windows to install drivers automatically...

Tried to do that but odin does not pick up still.
Do you think android emulator (apk) can be downloaded to reboot the usb/storage or whatever so it will return to original state?
I am not a programmer but I thought I read that some commands can be executed.
I bought a Sony Xperia Z. Earlier I was using Sony Xperia Ray for development and it was working fine. But with Xperia Z, I am struggling to detect the device using adb.
I found several links to make it fix but no luck. ( Sorry I still do not have permission to post those links.)
My OS is Windows Vista 32 bit home edition.
I installed PC companion and it is able to connect with the phone. But once I enable USB debugging mode, Windows shows "Found new hardware" dialog. When "Locate and install driver software" is selected it says software is successfully installed. But in the device manager it is shown under Other devices as 6602 with a exclamation.
It gives an empty list for "adb devices"
Is there anyone having a Xperia Z successfully connected with adb?

Isn't it supposed to be installed along with PC companion ?
Anyway I tried to find adb driver but could not find an exact match with c6602. There was one named as "Xperia_Z_driver" in developer sonymobile dot com. I am not clear how it should be installed. I tried updating the device in Device Manager and pointing to this location. But it gives the following error.
The folder you specified doesn't contain compatible software driver for your device. .....
Another thing is I still did not update Andriod SDK. It is the next item on my list. Does it matters ?
This driver pack contains ADB drivers for the Z. It helped when I had problems with drivers.

Thanks. I tried installing this but still no luck. Do I have to do anything other than installing this ? (Note that I have selected Xperia Z drivers check box while installing this.)
It's some time since I installed them, but I think the ADB drivers are a separate entry at the bottom of the list. I'm not at my PC, so can't check.

OK. I got it working on a Win 7 64 bit machine. So there should be nothing wrong with the phone. But still its not working with Vista 32 bit. Is it because there is no driver for 32 bit OS?
