I would like to know if there is decent (if any at all) app to record calls. I am basically concerned about 920 lumia but I guess its the same for all WP8 phones.
I don't think it's possible since WP8 Apps work in a sandbox, so no app can interfere with another app (like e.g. Phone App and a recorder app.)

so you're saying this is architecturally not possible? it's not something they can just "enable" in a future release? (this is the only thing holding me from buying a WP8 phone, record calls is part of my list of basic things a phone must do )
Well, if Microsoft wants it to be possible it will be possible. But at the moment, no third party app can record calls.

Yup, that is an option I use often too.
Fyi we can vote for this feature here on windowsphone.uservoice.com. search for "call record" there's one with over 1000 votes already

Hey guys, I'm thinking of upgrading from a Tmobile Dash to a G1 but need to know if there is a program on the Android platform similar to the CallFirewall program on Windows where it will take an incoming call and sends it directly to voicemail if on the blacklist. It's actually a deal breaker for me as I love the flexible whitelist / blacklist options on CallFirewall.
Thanks!
How does that functionality built into the os tickle your fancy?
In every contact entry there's a checkbox that says "send calls to voicemail" it makes it so your phone doesn't ring or show the call, the missed call is in the log but no notification... and best yet to the person on the phone its as if you haven't done a thing... rings all the way to VM

Yes, its by bratag =] requires root access, so root your phone before downloading.
What does that mean? Root your phone?
Also, could someone tell me how many contacts the phone will hold?
I'm leaning toward getting one.

Android is linux based and the super user account is called 'root', there is various ways to root android phones and you can even buy an ADP (Android Developer Phone) which comes by default with super user access enabled.

Android (not just G1) uses SQLite to store information and depending on ram etc it's for all intents and purpose limitless.
Cool, thanks about the contacts.
Still not sure what the root thing means, but with a built in call blocker I guess it doesn't really matter

Check this out

How come Skype is not available in the market when it is for all the verizon droids?
Can we sideload Skype? (after root of course) Does anyone know a link towards it?
Thanks!
I would like to know how to do this as well. My boss only likes skype to IM with so it would be great to do it. I am more than willing to try stuff out if someone points me in the right direction...
No native Skyp app for Android yet, however there is Fring (search the Market). It's a mobile client that integrates with many communication/messaging platforms, including Skype. It can even handle videocalls!
A caveat: it's developed by an Israeli startup of some shady provenance. God knows who else will be listening to your conversationgs and reading your chats
ignore this post. apparently i read "k's" as "w's", so i thought we were discussing Swype. Carry on.

needs some skype. they show it off on the droid commercials. they even say its in the app store. they cant lock it down to verizon only can they?

actually they can. Verizon and Skype have a deal setup. its also going to be impossible to hack since it doesn't use the data connection but actually the regular voice line. since ATT would charge you per minute to use its voice channel it would take the purpose out of skype

so Fring is as close as we'll get then?

Fring is pretty okay, actually. It supports voice, video (for both outward and front-facing camera), and IMs. When you get a Skype call or IM, it rings, just like it should. Voice portion works great over 3G. Video is not restricted to W-Fi, and appears to work quite adequately over 3G as well.

Well I got Skype Lite, which does great text chat which you may be interested in. It does voice calls to skype contacts but it does so by calling a local phone number, so it kinda defeats the purpose of skype.

Bluetooth allows it to connect to Bluetooth headsets and stuff from the app itself.
Disable keylock to allow you to accept calls from the app even when your screen is locked.
Audio record I'm guessing is to allow you to record from the app? But I'm not sure.
Viber has an SMS system in it...
Think of the others and how they can be implemented to HELP in using the app, rather than spy on you. Also, read all the conditions for all the other apps like it, and you will see that they are all very simular.
Use your common sense man, if it was malicious it would have been noticed officially and removed from the playstore.

Sending photos direct from camera? Pretty obvious really, this Thread is a waste of time and effort, there is nothing malicious there at all. Every thing can easily justified by valid functionality in the apps usage.

This is the ONLY way camera permissions are granted for an app. So the app developer has no choice but to include this permission whether he likes it or not. The "any time" part is beyond the developers control. Heck even Google Search requires this same permission. View the android manifest for more details. Don't be alarmed.
PS. Buddy I have rolled around in Android. So if you saying I have "no clue about" it is an understatement.
OP thanks for the Warning and Users will decide what they want to set their permissions for their apps. Thanks.

If no developer has yet added the tweak to switch between stock android multitasking and HTC's version, I'd say try a different launcher.
I haven't had anything reload or refresh yet with my One. I usually have the apps running and use home to back out of them and the multitasking menu to go to another app. I'm sure it'll call me a liar and reload something today now i've posted this lol.

The two developers who did apparently took the feature out? I don't think the multitasking/recent apps function is built into the launcher...it's built into the SystemUI, I think?

As I've had to tell other people, the One X did not have "sucky" multitasking, it was just limited by only having 1GB of RAM.
This device has 2GB of RAM, and because of that, I've seen apps stay in the background for hours. I played Pinball Arcade for about 2 hours last night, came back to Chrome and it was still fully loaded with the website.
The only reason ASOP ran better with multitasking is because it started with less crap in RAM (such as all the Sense UI).

No and its not a "lack of multitasking" issue. You can not "listen" to Youtube in background (unless you are using a 3rd party app). Its a built-in restriction in the Youtube app. Google want you to subscribe to their "Google Play Music All Access" paid service so they will obviously not provide you free music via Youtube...
I also presume that there are some other reasons why they blocked this app in background mode, probably some copyright and advertisement issues..

Who asked "can I write a message on whatsapp while I listen music on youtube?"
If you wanted to know if Lollipop update enabled some Touchizz multi-windows features designed for phablets and stylus then don't ask if you can "listen to youtube while doing other stuff" and then saying that Im answering something you didn't asked...
You asked a simple and precise question, I gave you a simple and precise answer.
So I presume your question was:
Q: Does lollipop on the M7 enabled multi-windows features like its possible to do with Samsung's Touchwizz?
A: No.

It's not in the stock app anymore. From what I remember it was short lived. If it is still available (which I'm almost positive it's not) it is probably US only.
You can get one of the many recorder apps from the Play Store. I can't recommend one since I've never used one.
Thing is though, most if not all won't record the other's voice on a regular phone call. If you go to speakerphone however, you'll be able to here both sides of the conversation.

I tried some apps from store, but all of them not working properly... Honestly, I was hoping there was an app outside the app store (like the MiX file manager) that worked good.
