I have an existing ATT line (for years), currently with a S3 (with contract till late 2014).
I bought a second-hand Moto X with ATT logo on it.
When I got the S3 in 2012, I got an unlock code directly from ATT in 15min, before I travel abroad.
This time, ATT told me that they no longer directly unlock phones. Instead, the process becomes as follows:
1) fill in the device unlock request (the webpage didn't work for me, showing imei cannot be unlocked at this time; but the online chat agent filed the request on my behalf and put an 'urgent' tag on it...)
2) "someone" will call me in 3 days after the request and tell me about my "options" (wt...)
3) the request should be resolved either way a week from the initial request date
So far I've done 1, but I'm traveling in two days. From your experiences, is it possible that they will eventually refuse to send the unlock code? Does it really take a whole week? Do they always make the call in step 2 (2 days already since my request).
If I'm willing to pay 12usd, any chance those ebay/online services fail to unlock the device ?
Thanks.
FWIW, I unlocked a Rogers Moto X in a few hours with cellunlocker dot net.

got root on the G1 already ,possible unlock the G1 without unlock code
anyone working on it ?
I think there are 3 possible ways:
1:find the unlock flag then rewrite
2:find the IMEI code and change it to a IMEI code that has already got the unlock code
3:find the unlock algorithm
hack the baseband
Did you figure out something? I got my T-Mobile G1 bought off eBay in the brand new packaging with a SIM card. Probably someone stole it from BestBuy or Futureshop, whatever, but I generally don't care where it came from bradn new that cheap
But now NO ONE can provide me with an UNLOCK code for it
I tried several different unlock sites, including the most famous one mentioned here, but no one can actually calculate an unlock code based on my IMEI.
I tried some solutions like Gevey 3G / TurboSIM for G1, but eventually the phone with a "proxy" SIM sort of "sees" my SIM card, but still unable to register to the network.
I was wondering if any cable unlock solution was found for the G1 already.
I got the phone rooted with the latest baseband and with the latest self-made build off the android repository, but cannot figure out how to unSIMlock it now..
find someone with t-mobile, have them activate the phone on their line, then use a site or hopefully they have been with t-mo long enough to add international calling, tell them you require the phone unlocked to use a euro sim and your set
disclaimer: in theory
all of the above except adding a stolen phone to t-mo actually work [might still work, not like your responsible for ebay origins] and t-mo's great customer service will unlock it for you immediately if your account qualifies for international calling,
Call T-Mobile

Sounds crazy, not sure at all if it's been mentioned before but try www.htcunlock.com
They claim to be able to get any code for almost any htc phone including the G1, you can also buy codes in bulk to lower the cost, and its paid through paypal, so its kinda secure
Just my thoughts anyway
Oh and if you are unlocked but have no network, try setting up the APNs in wireless settings
Be prepared to wait several days for an unlock code from tmobile.

yup, been much faster than estimated all 5 times I unlocked my mobiles
I was unlocking the G1 for £3.50 using a site I had access to. I was getting the unlock codes back within an hour too.
PM me if you want your phone done.
No in fact, don't PM me as I don't have the access any more.
The website that can do it is Uniquephones.com

LMFAO...GNR
Hi all, I have a similar experience. We have a G1 here that was never linked to a contract, and T-Mobile refuse to acknowledge its existence. I have tries one unlocking company so far, and they claimed they were unable to get the code. Does this mean I will not be able to get the unlock code for my phone at all?
if its saying that its unable to register on the network then that usually means the sim has been disabled or that the phone has been reported stolen and the IMEI blocked
seems like nobody have a "flash scan" to get our SIMUNLOCK code
Thats the strange thing, it is simply locked to tmobile, a tmobile sim works in the phone, and all is good, but it is locked from other networks (asks for code)
So I've got this nice new phone to replace my aging Captivate and I'm switching carriers while I'm at it, so I've already got everything set up with the carriers to transfer my number and cancel my AT&T account when the phone is activated.
Except my contract doesn't expire for another week and this HTC is just sitting on my desk, tempting me.
From what I understand, Sprint will go ahead and cancel my AT&T contract once the phone is activated, and at this point I'm looking at a $95 ETF from AT&T. I've been watching unboxing/activation videos and the activation seems to be automatic. Is there any way I can keep that from happening and bypass the activation so I can play with the phone and keep my AT&T account active until the contract ends?
The phone will attempt to activate every time you turn it on...if you've already set up your sprint account at a store and purchased the phone from retail chances are your number port is already in progress before you turn the device on(porting only takes a few minutes) unless they've activated a temporary number for you which we do sometimes. I would clarify with sprint that the port has yet to complete before activating your device.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
I've got a text message at the original number stating that "the port has been approved" and to contact them at their number to complete the activation. I also spoke to a rep a couple of days ago stating that I shouldn't activate the phone until the contract ended because at that point the cancellation of my previous contract would be pretty much automatic.
I accidentally posted this in the Moto X 2014 forum. Sorry for the duplicate post.
I just purchased a Moto X Developer Edition (Verizon) directly from Motorola, and I'm attempting to unlock the bootloader, but at this point I can't even get an unlock code. I followed the instructions and used fastbook to get the unlock data from the phone. I copied and pasted (several times) to the Moto website, but when I click the "Can my device be unlocked?" button, I get a dialog box that says "your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking". It's the Dev Edition, so this should not be the case.
The box that the phone came in says XT1060DEV and the phone has Developer Edition stamped on the back. When I look at the About information on the phone, should I seen any indication in there that it's a DE version? The Model Number field just says Moto X.
Has anybody else had this problem?
Thanks.

Lots of people had this problem including me. They say it takes a few days for your IMEI to get in the database, but I waited and it still wouldn't give me an unlock code and I had to get tech support involved and had to use the email associated with the account the phone was ordered on. YMMV.
I would call tech support and get the ball rolling on this b/c it took days for them to fix it for me.
Yes, the site has always been glitchy. Just be sure you're entering everything right....and keep trying every once in awhile. Took me a few tries over 10 hours to get my Rogers version to work....and I bought mine off a guy....new in box though, so it was just the site acting up.
I'm going through this hassle right now with a Verizon Developer Edition that I bought from Motorola.
I'm on hold with someone over seas that keeps telling me that they can't and won't help me.
Seems to have affected the September manufactured Verizon developer edition Moto X's (I was livid as i gave my gf a VZW DE on her bday and went through hassle to unlock this before she could play with it).
I called Motorola support and even gave them the URL to fix, note the update in the thread. The user responds very quickly (~4 hr resolution) - https://forums.motorola.com/posts/f2061da875
Phone support appears independently trained and didn't understand the difference between sim unlock and the bootloader unlock..and sadly didn't relay the URL to get it fixed/escalated.
Hi all, I bought Motorola Moto X, model XT1058 from Ebay. The phone is in new condition, original phone replaced by Motorola under warranty.
I thought it could easily be unlocked as I already had such experience with another Moto X. Unfortunately none of the cell unlocking providers were able to find unlock code for my device - they tried three different databases for Motorola - regular, database 2 and special (not found) but code is not present in all of them. As a last resort I asked the seller to call AT&T and request unlock code - after couple of days he forwarded me a response from them that unlock code could not be found!
That is very strange - AT&T to not have unlock code for their own phone? It is possible the problem to be that the phone is warranty return? Do you know of some provider, who can help in this situation? I tried to contact Motorola directly but they refused to cooperate - they say to request the code from AT&T.
Any help will be much appreciated!
I have such situation too, AT&T 1058 SKU: 6131A (
Tried two services and all of them did reject my IMEI (15 chars). Don't know what to do.
Will throw out motherboard, and use the display as spare part, maybe (
Hello,
Recently purchased 3 Lumia 635 Prepaid/GoPhones and was worried about removing Simlock. ATT is now unlocking it for free., what is different now is that they seem to be unlocking all phones which are 'eligible' (I guess phones before Feb 2015) even if you do not have an ATT number or if you're not an ATT customer. Earlier, they would stone-wall you or send an email saying device is not eligible for unlock if you're not an ATT customer or if it was a prepaid/GoPhone, now they seem to be a little more forthcoming
Go to the ATT dev unlock page URL- att.com/deviceunlock/index.htm and once you agree and continue, choose 'Non AT&T Mobility Customer' and you need to give them the IMEI (use *#06# on the phone's dial pad), First name Last name and Email add (use a genuine one). Once done, you will receive a confirmation email, once you confirm, you will receive the unlock code within 48 hours.
Insert a different sim and it will prompt you to enter the code, once you enter the code, the device will be sim unlocked. You only have 10 attempts before your phone is permanently blocked/Hard-locked so use caution and get it done in the first try
It is possible (not sure though) that they are keeping a tab on unlock requests from a particular email address so use different email addresses if requesting for multiple phones.
Sorry, if this has been posted before, just unlocked 3 phones, wanted to pass on the info.
Regards,
TrIStaR
and what shall i do if status "denied"?
