Hi,
I have a Galaxy S i9000 currently running SlimKat (CM11 based). I need to revert back to CM7.2 for a bit to run an app that will only work properly on that version of Andriod. I tried to flash the ROM from CWM, and I keep getting error messages. Is there something else I have to do first go revert back to CM7.2?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

yes, you need to flash a lower version of CWM to flash a CM 7.2, meaning flash a gingerbread kernel and use it to flash a CM 7.2 ROM. or follow this

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
flashing instructions from alliance thread is given below
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
HOW TO FLASH ?
Coming from a non ICS ROM (GGB) or AOSP ROM get to a rooted stock TW ICS ROM first
Rooted TW ICS/JB ROM:
Flash via ROM-Customizer coming from any rooted ROM:
1. Download CustomSettings.apk HERE
2. Put it on your sdcard,
3. Open romcustomizer/flash file from sd and flash as a system app (popup will give you the choice).
4. Choose the ROM-flash settings you want in "romcustomizer/rom-settings" but be sure to tick wipe
5. Then go back to flash file from sdcard where u need to select the ROM(AllianceROM_N7000_JB-XXLS2-Base.zip)

read op in alliance thread..
he says to flash via rom customizer.folow every step and it is not hard.
you should use it and wont have any problem
you can flash via CWM. but it is not reccomended. Thats why op removed the second option to flash via cwm.
Hi,
right now I have the latest nightly of CM 10.1 running on my N7 WiFI (grouper).
I suppose if I'd want to return to the google stock rom (rooted of course), I will have to flash the stock rom file via cwm recovery.
Is this correct?
Can somebody tell me where to find the 4.2.2 stock rom for this device?
Thanks!
Andreas

Rgrds,

If you are just looking for a stock rom experience, try this.

Towards the bottom I have a stock rooted rom. Only changes is it is rooted, initial.d enabled, and busybox installed (some updated apps that are not odexed). You can also of course try some of my mods too if you like.

I have personaly used Nexus 7 Toolkit. It can do what you asked.
Use Q & A section next time...
Ok I attempted to flash the new Rom to his latest update. Would not boot up, pretty much stayed at the Cmod screen. Good news for me i had a older 4.2.2 rom on the unit still and was able to revert back to that.
I noticed that he said I should update TWRP. How in the world do I do that?
I have installed the file, but I can not figure out how to actually update to the latest TWRP. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Flash the twrp file like if it was a rom and then reboot, thats it

Download the most recent TWRP from Hascodes thread as he modifies them so they work on our Kindle Fire HD's. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848 Then use your FireFlash app and flash TWRP in the recover.img just like the first time only don't tick or check any other boxes. It's easy as 1,2,3.

[Tutorial] How to Unbrick, Flash, Downgrade, Root, Update i9000 from Froyo to Kit Kat,
for all destinations .you should not jump from gingerbread to Jelly bean 4.2, as you could have IMEI problems ( depending on ROM you chose) but if your intention is Kit Kat from gingerbread, its possible, so look in FAQ [POLL][FAQ][Discussion] Kit Kat 4.4 / CM 11 for Galaxy S & S Plus [i9000][i9001 about it
But having an EFS backup , plus a Nandroid backup plus whichever data and files you want to backup, would be important. before you proceed flashing ROM's

Hello, I just got a Galaxy S i9000t, I needed to flash it with a rom from XDA(The current miui if that matters), and so I looked for a way to put a cwm on it, the way I found was using CF-Root, but when I got there I found so many versions and numbers that I didn't understand.
I noticed that in my device I had software version JVB(This is PDA I guess), and in baseband I had JV7, so I downloaded this and flashed it in Odin:
CF-Root-XW_XEE_JVB-v3.1-CWM3RFS.zip
The device boots okay, but when I reach the homescreen, it reboots quickly to the logo of the communication network(Hot reboot I think this was called?), and then back into home screen, which then triggers the reboot again, so I guess I did something wrong.
Can someone direct me to the right version for me? I found nothing about JV7 in the CF-Root thread, and if I need another version, can I just flash it in odin after I flashed the wrong one?
Thank you.

i9000T is same as i9000, but meant for specific regions, so your base-band is important for communicating with your home network. , you should note it down and use that when changing ROM's
if you only want Root, you can use Framaroot , if you want CWM you can use semaphore kernel. make sure your version is (froyo/ gingerbread) correct
