Hi,
I am using the cyanogenmod 11 (nightly, Android 4.4) on my old SGS I9000. It iswokring great, as KitKat can handle less memory quite well.
My only problem is an sound issue:
The sound crackles and rustles softly when playing a sound file with my music player (poweramp) or for instance a system sound.
It is like:
clicking sound playback > sound crackle > low rustle > sound playback starting > sound playback stopping > low rustle > sound crackle
(the low rustle seems during the whole playback period, but is been noticed by silence more)
Is anyone knowing the problem?
I have used another jellybean mod before > smae problem
problem seems not with the official latest firmware 2.3.4, but I don´t want to use this
Thanks for help!
Hi, are you using any sound management app like dsp manager? If so try to turn off equalizer and bass amplifier there. Or if you want to, you could try CyanAOSP 2.8 a great rom based on 4.4 I've been using and see if there are problems.

i have gone through the beeping test, and the adapt sound preview has a very noticable sound difference... however, when i use the stock music app, turning adapt sound on and off has no effect
likewise, turning the 'music' option in the adapt sound settings on and off does not affect the sound
one more question, are 3rd party apps e.g. Youtube not able to take advantage of adapt sound?
::edit:: more info, i was using both the rom that came with the phone, as well as updated it to MH2 , did factory resets, etc , and adapt sound still doesnt work outside its own preview
I think so.
Can anyone suggest why I no longer get the camera shutter sound? It doesn't work with the stock camera app (I mean the one that comes with the ROM I'm using) or third party ones. I can't find any settings disabled.
I recently had a repair done at Samsung which involved replacing the motherboard. I didn't test every single setting and function when I got it back so am tempted to assume it is related to the repair but I could be wrong.
The camera is rooted and I'm using the Ultimate XXLT4 JB 4.1.2 v6
Thanks in advance
Trevor
Camera shutter sound adendum
Has no one else come across this? Most posts about the shutter sound are about how to turn it off so I guess my problem is unique. I checked that the /system/media/audio/ui/shuter.ogg file is there. It is and I can play it manually with the stock music player. Other than that, I've no idea how to fix this. All othet system sounds and alerts sem to work ok.
I'm still hoping some expert out there can help.

Hello. When you mean you don't get a shutter sound, does that mean that in camera/setting/shutter sound already enabled but no sound? please note that music or notification volume level (I forgot which one) also play a part. If your volume level is 0 or very low, the sound will not be heard. This was a trick to eliminate shutter shound back in the days when the option to disable is not there.

Thanks for replying. This was the first thing I checked.
There's no option to enable/ disable shutter sound in the stock camera app I'm using and I imagine this is why so many people were asking how to disable the sound. Can't recall if I ever saw that in the settings menu. I also have an app called CameraPro which has an Enable Shutter Sound. This is enabled but , makes no difference. It's possible I'm using an older version of the stock cameras app but it seems to me this is not the cause as it makes no difference which camera app I use.
Thanks again.

I managed to fix this by installing the jobnik_Camera_Note_JB_Mod_v8_cwm.zip.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863362
Now both my camera apps have shutter sound enabled. Still don't know what happened since the previous version of the app worked fine before but that's often the way with computers: just happy to fix the problem in the end.
Thanks

Thank you so much.
Hey guys so I was wondering if there's any app that can control how much gain the mic gets during videos. I go to concerts a lot and what I really missed about the stock ROM was its dynamic gain, but in AOSP that can become an issue. Does anyone know of any apps or mods that can rememdy this issue? I'm rooted on 6.0.1. Thanks for the help.

For now if you wanna listen music just use MIUI ROM because for now, most custom rom have a bad sound bug if use headphones uses jack port. For Bluetooth i don't know tho, i never use a Bluetooth headphones before so i can't tell, but i think the bug will affect Bluetooth too.
There is a great sound mod called "Ainur Sauron"
Here is the link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/soundmod-ainur-audio-t3450516
You just have to flash it, no need to setup anything else
I don't think it is compatible with MIUI
So you can try flashing it on a custom ROM
I've been using it for a while now, and my audio output improved greatly.
Hope this helps

Are you on earphones when the volume lowers? If so, maybe the V4A setting called "auditory system protection" causes it. Also, disable notification sounds/enable silent mode while you are playing music, or change the Poweramp audio focus setting (Poweramp -> settings -> audio -> untick Short Audio Focus change)
I used to have the same problem as you, when I was using Xtreme music mod and Dolby Atmos.

Can i flash this over dolby atmos? I need louder sound quality especially for dialogues through speakers. Dolby is already doing a great job. Should this one do any improvement? Or should i uninstall dolby and flash this? Need louder sound on speakers

This mod is compatible with all other audio mods, but make a backup of your system in case anything goes wrong. Try flashing it over your Dolby
I tried flashing Ainur first then Dolby, the Dolby app crashed.
