Tiger Wood is my hero!!

since every sponsors is dropping him, Tiger got my support!
i would do the same if i'm Tiger, when you have all the money in the world, what' the point of living if u dont enjoy life the fullest!
Call me old fashioned, but I believe that when you are with somebody, especially married to somebody, you are to remain faithful.
Although, I don't really see why sponsors are dropping Tiger now, he's more popular now, then ever.

I believe this is often referred to as "commitment" ... which IMHO ranks right up there with "honour", "respect", and "ethics". Although I have no issues with living life the fullest, some actions such as adultery do have consequences which sponsors must keep in mind.
At the time I read this thread, I felt that it simply served to instigate a "flamewar" session amongst fellow XDA members or to encourage comments that could be construed as a personal attack on Tiger Woods behaviour as depicted by the media - and as such closed it. Additionally, I felt the thread communicated a negative message to younger - more impressionable - readers.
As a result of closing the thread however, a fellow XDA member felt that I was being too harsh and that to some degree, my actions communicated an undesireable form of censoring.
As such, I have taken the matter up with Flar. In the interest of not communicating a form of censoring, I have chosen to re-open this thread for others to comment with the caveat that it not deteriorate into a personal attack on Tiger Woods or fellow XDA members.

True Legend

Guys, I'm posting this in the general section put of respect for the forum and it's rules, and mods, feel free to move this thread if you feel it's absolutely necessary. I just wanted to give people in the Android community the ability to sound off on what they feel Steve Jobs meant to the industry. I don't care if you liked the man, his products, or his company, but it's my personal opinion that we as an industry have lost, possibly the one person who made the entire cellular revolution possible. I'm not an Apple fanboy by any stretch, but I CAN be objective, and CAN give credit where credit is due. It's my personal opinion that Steve Jobs was a visionary, a pioneer, and genius, and meant more to the people of the 21st Century than any other person possibly could have. Anyone who's old enough to remember (I'm 31) the onset of the "tech revolution", should be able to give props to Jobs for being at the forefront of the movement, and those of you who are younger...I hope you can have the proper perspective to recognize just what the man's influence means/meant to ALL of us.
So sound off guys...give me your opinions. Just please, be respectful and mature about this. Mods... feel free to shut this down if you see it getting out of hand, please. I'm not trying to start a flame thread here...I'd just like to have some good, objective opinions on the man's influence, NOT his personality or Apple's "politics" in the industry. Respect TRUE legends people!
I agree he is one of the greatest innovators of our time, I own an Ipod and it is truly peculiar.

Im not trying to micromanage but ahh. This topic has nothing to do with droid 3. Suggestions: apple forum or maybe off topic forum.
I agree 100%. I must have overlooked the Off Topic section on my Galaxy Tab…my bad. Mods can move it ther if they want, but I didn't post in the Apple forums for a reason. I wanted to give the Android community the ability to express their opinions on Jobs' legacy in the industry, regardless of platform. I'm not home at the moment, so I can't move the thread to another location from my Tab, but mods are more than welcome to do so, if they feel it's waranted. I've been impressed with the objectivity here in the D3 forums, so I figured I'd give people here a chance to sound off first.

My 2 cents; though the company seems to be working in a very sketchy manor as far as their I guess mobile division goes. I do favor their computers over the ones I have bought/built and believe the extent of innovation he has brought to the table is pretty amazing.

I don't like apple, and i don't care for their closed source, narrow minded ideas, and I don't like their forced hardware control. That being said, i think he was quite the businessman.
He made a huge impact on the entire electronics industry, but I will forever prefer my open source, porn-watching device.

Jobs: I will spend my last dying breath to destroy Android

Hi,
Everyone should know the lines from Steve Jobs below:
"I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong,” Jobs said. “I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.”
Now, I expect there are a lot of talented graphic artists here in XDA who loves Android.
Could anyone create an image of our beloved Android robot, rolling on the floor laughing while pointing finger to the above quoted text?
We should create a competition for graphic artists to create such image as funny as possible!
Come on, show us your creativity!
Probably with simple caption like "Apple, you can keep dreaming" ...
I request that even though many people on here are android fanboys ( not a bad thing ) that they respect what Steve Jobs and apple did for the industry and remember that he died doing what he loved.
Whether or not you agree, his anger is justifiable in the sense that android's UI had large similarities to iOS. Icons, layout, etc. He is human and thus experiences emotions which may or may not blind or sway his judgment.
"android is a stolen product"
Really Jobs? As I remeber Mac Os' are nothin really more than linux computers with apple branding all over.
Don't you mean UNIX? And I don't think what his basis of staling is the same with your basis of stealing. His basis is that this OS was just an outright copy, a wannabe iOS (again due to the striking similarities at the time). Hence a "stolen product". And if I remember correctly, UNIX is open source no? How can you steal something open source? Moreover, if i remember correctly again, it is not entirely UNIX, it simply has codes which were allowed to be taken and were taken for use.
I would like to see how android stood in a full on legal assault.
Apple is more or less doing this through the manufacturers.
Too soon.... show some respect.
You will find it everywhere. There is a famous quote by Gates. He once told Jobs:
“Well, Steve, I think there’s more than one way of looking at it. I think it’s more like we both had this rich neighbour named Xerox and I broke into his house to steal the TV set and found out that you had already stolen it.”

I think people are a little too sensitive about this. And while I understand what he was getting at, I do believe it was over the top. Instead of viewing this thread as a personal attack, just view it as him being remembered.

Personally, I find this quote even better. It's hilarious.
Well that just leaves a couple more Steves who want to destroy Google.

Apple "hides" Stolen Android Features

http://news.yahoo.com/apples-mostly-hidden-tricks-iphone-more-android-172427412.html
I guess it's OK as long as you hide it!
Nothing is original in tech. We see farther because we stood on the shoulders of giants; men who have tread the path before us and lifted our blind souls to the wonders of technology.
I don't hate Apple anymore; I pity them.

But Apple behaves as if they invented everything, and throw a hissy fit when someone copies them, hypocritically ignoring that they're just like the rest of them.
Panorama is somehow an feature originate from Android???
I love this thread.
I have cleaned this thread. Please do not flood it with your petty bickering again....or else

What Happened to XDA

XDA used to be a great place with cool people. Now it's filled with a bunch of whiners with some of the thinnest skin I have ever seen. Growing up in my time you could not survive being so soft, soft like Ice Cream Soft Serve in the Summer Heat. It's ashame. What happened to handling things and then being over it. People cry and hit report buttons., " OH MOMMY IM TELLING ON YOU." This country is doomed if this is what we have filling the work roles in the new generation. I am proud to not be a part of what I want to name the Whiner Generation or the Thinned Skin Generation. The World owes this generation because they did nothing to earn it. Where this you OWE me SOMETHING FOR NOTHING came from I don't know. Then there are those who are in control of keeping things clean and they also use that to whine about something ebcause they don't like. It's like getting being told by your parents not to curse while they are saying it like this --> DON"T ****ING CURSE...See where I am going with that? Makes no sense. There are some good people out there but this plague of soft skinned people are ruining what used to be such an awesome place to be. Now you have to "TIP TOE your question so someone doesn't get butt hurt, cry, tell mommy or get told its not on topic.
This is in the OFF-topic section so I am hoping that I did this correctly and by the rules. If I have not I am sorry I figured Off-Topic is where you post something that has nothing to do with anything else, basically general. Thanks

I'm an 'old' guy too. In my experience threads from different devices hold different people. My previous device was a Samsung Galaxy S Plus. It was never a popular device with younger people. So everyone was more respectful to each other. People were always hitting the thanks button and everyone read the thread first before asking a question. My current device (Moto G 2014) is more popular with younger people. They wine about thing not working, demand things and ask for ETA's without any hesitation. They ask a question which was answered 3 posts earlier on the previous page. Searching is very hard work. Asking/demanding is easier... Furthermore, the 'thanks' button is very hard to find....
No, they are not all like this of course, but sometimes miss the old days, with 'old' guys on my old device....

I'm young (16), but I see this happening in the world in general, not just XDA. I agree with most things you said, but maybe you should change your focus (especially in the title) to the world, rather than just XDA.
My 2¢
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4........FAKE! Admit it, you thought I had money for a second didn't you?
XDA may be different from before but it had survived through thick and thin. All should be grateful for what they learned from here. After all, sharing is caring.
I'm old school when XDA was an HTC only site, America is totally going to fall apart in another 10 years when the entitlement generation gets into the work force and everybody is expecting free food, healthcare and a subsidized 4 bedroom home. I've seen devs lock their threads and go home because of the whining and acting like their owed a bug free custom ROM.
If you want to know what happened, its the communism/liberalism from the cold war that took over the US culture, they couldn't beat us with bullets and bombs so they infiltrated Americas institutions and can destroy the country from within. Its will be a slow and steady process, but were seeing the beginning of the results.
Wow! Another thread whining about whiners..just what XDA needs!
People flooding the forums with these types of threads do nothing for the site but prove your own point about too much whining and demands.
Seems a simple thing to add people to your Ignore User list and concentrate on the development aspects of the site
I also think the one post hit it on the head...it is more the world than XDA
Thread closed!
