I am trying to add a new APN to my Verizon developer edition X but when I attempt to go under settings and add a new APN the option is not there. I have looked online and found one that has you add two lines to the build.prop but that didn't work either. Does anyone know how I can do this. My end result is I would like to be running o
Orweb.

Hi, as the title of the thread says I am trying to figure out how to edit certain settings via build.prop, rather than ##PROGRAM.
This is because of two things: I flashed my bionic to page plus, using the stock rom, then I installed Carbon ROM in slot1. To make 3G operate correctly, you have to change certain settings using ##PROGRAM. The stock rom works great after using the program menu. Unfortunately, the Carbon Rom, although fantastic, does not have this menu.
One of the settings is to change Sim type to 3G. The other is to set lte bppanic to disable. Then disable class 1 and class 2 apns.
If anyone knows how to do this, I would be thrilled, as would other Page Plus users, I imagine. Thanks.

Hi, I think that is the right direction. However, so far I cannot find out how to change sim type to 3g or set lte bppanic to disable using a database.
There are similar "name" inputs there, like network mode, etc, but nothing indicating those exact settings. I wonder if I find the settings under the stock rom, can i import them into carbon? Or are they motorola-rom-specific?
I think that these are actually important questions for flashed users, and we will see this becoming more and more of an issue as 3G phones become obsolete, and the only way for a Page Plus or other Verizon MVNO user to have a workable smartphone is to flash a 4G one,
On the Bionic (and I imagine on other models), the only option for now will be the stock rom; any rom without access to the ##PROGRAM menu will be left short as far as advanced network settings goes. Of course, I think this might vary depending on how you flashed in the first place. I used a free tutorial that was quite simple.

I honestly couldn't input much on this, as I've never had to dabble with this area ( well just once, quite a long time ago), but I'd imagine you could check out the data bases ( maybe take a "snapshot" or copy/download it) from a stock rom, make your changes using that ##program menu, then compare the new/changed database to the prior one.
That would be a quick way to detect if any values are being affected there, and where. Then you may as well check if those values exist on other roms, and try them out. Couldn't hurt, with safestrap/recovery backups and all.

I believe that you should check out the setup for page plus on howard forums. It goes thru the changes to make the bionic 3g and turn off 4g completely. But the links to the apps and basic principles should still apply. Good luck, if you can't find it let me know. I'll send you a link.
Cruzin' tha Galaxy SIII via Obsessed Rom / "INAPPROPRIATE" Kernel
I am learning how to live without root.
I've installed Adblock Plus and use the following steps to create a new APN
1. Go to "more.." in settings for wireless
2. Go to "mobile networks"
3. Go to "Access Point Names"
4. Go into the current enabled one (AT&T PHONE) and write down all settings
5. Create a new one, copying everything and set up localhost:2020 as proxy
6. Select the new APN
From browser, it appears to block the ads. Quick test on some applications also seem to suggest this is working.
Does anyone know if there is any problem with this scheme?
Thanks
Thanks for the detailed instructions!
I just setup and it also seems to be working for me too.
Did you ever find any issues with your approach?
With Vzw there is no way to create an APN.
Worked great on T-Mobile. Thanks!
Does not seem to work for me, running Sony Xperia E3 D2203 on KitKat 4.4.2
Adguard does! But needs improvement on my D Maxx.

The Moto X is the first phone I've ever had where I want to stay on the stock ROM, but that comes with a drawback. Because mine is the AT&T version, they won't let me turn on wifi tethering. I am rooted, and have tried as many tether apps in as many configurations as I could, but still no luck. If anyone could help me out, I would be extremely grateful!
PS: I know that previously on the Moto Razr HD, you could disable the subscription check like this:
In SQLite Editor (or comparable), navigate to:
"Settings Storage : com.motorola.android.providers.settings" (the icon is a red and white hammer and wrench)
then: "settings.db"
then: "settings"
then: _id 79 "entitlement check"
Once there, change "value" field from "1" to "0"
That worked like a charm for me then, but I couldn't find any obvious similar hack in sqlite on the Moto X. Maybe someone out there with more experience knows where to look?
I finally got around to installing the Lollipop OTA update yesterday and I've been going through some articles looking for new features. One awesome-looking feature is the guest user feature. The only problem is that I can't seem to find a menu item for this in the settings, nor is there the user icon next to the settings icon in the notification tray. Am I missing something or is this not a feature that is included in the Sprint version?
Perhaps a more relevant question would be, for those of you that have lollipop installed on your Sprint HTC One, do you have access to the guest users feature?
A simple yes by at least one person would let me know that it is a problem with my phone and not an oversight by Sprint.
Thanks!
I just talked to Sprint customer service and I was assured that the user account feature is supposed to be in this release. I was told to go to Settings -> Device -> Users. Unfortunately, there is no Device menu in Settings on my phone. Can some of you respond if you are seeing the same issue? Sprint is opening a ticket but I'd like to tell them that this isn't just affecting me, if that is the case.
I'll keep everyone updated.
Same deal here. I just installed the update and I can't find the multi-users feature anywhere. I have the M8 HK Edition
HTC does not include multiuser on any sense Rom. It's is included on the GE edition and u can use it in any lollipop Aosp and some KK Aosp toms.
I went to the AT&T store today to check out the device and I noticed that settings menu is TABBED instead of the the usual list that scrolls down as I am used to. I assumed there would be an option to change it and looked everywhere but could not find a way to change it. This really annoys me why would AT&T change the layout of the settings menu it doesn't make sense. Could someone with the AT&T s6 model confirm that the tabbed menu really is the only option?
Edit: added screenshots
Left is normal, right is tabbed
can any one expalon how it work

I am not completely clear what you are asking but basically its two different ways that the settings option is being organized. The normal version that is on every variant as far as I know except ATT is the list view where the each settings are listing as a list that you scroll down. The AT&T way is to list the settings option whithin sub groups that you view as "tabs" you can switch between tabs by swiping right. take a look at the screenshot.
I think he's basically asking why does At&t have to screw around with everything from locking down the boot loader to how the menu is they can't leave well enough along.
Yeah. I'm getting real tired of AT&T
Just buy the unlocked version and be done with it. AT&T isn't going to change until they start losing sales over crap like this. Put your money where your mouth is.
