Hello everyone, i sucessfully installed the latest kernel for my x8 (E15_2.6.32.61-nAa-06.ftf) and the phone boots into the recovery mode, i already tried 2 diferent roms but both dont work with this kernel, since they ask for an older kernel when i try to install them.
What roms do work with the latest kernel so i can revive this old phone?
In the rom threads it is mentioned with what kernels they work with.

if you want to install GBv31b,cm7 use latest kernel E15_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14,
for cm9,10 series i think you have to use ICS kernel....
search in forum.

Xperia X8THE LEGENDARY
But i have installed the latest kernel and i cant find where it shows on how to install an older kernel. And in the thread with the list of Roms's the latest ones dont have support for this kernel. So im stuck with it with no Rom.

each ROM has each kernel on the Requirement dude
just follow the instruction
So i finally solved the problem and managed to install another kernel, but the phone keeps showing the boot animation for the kernel and doesnt boot into the actual ROM.
EDIT:Thank you BlackRabbit1703 for the stock kernel link, i restored to the default and im going to try everything again.

I can't find a single ROM that will work with my phone, i have already tried 7 ROM's from 4.1 to 2.3 with custom or stock kernel non work, with custom kernels the phone just shows the kernel animation, with the stock kernel the 2.3 ROM's just show the animation and freeze.
Go into the cwm and factory reset, clear dalvik cache and try again. Also, they may take a while to boot...
I tried almost every kernel i could found, and ended up using a ROM with the stock kernel since non works for me.
It's working so im fine with it, thank you for your time.

Hi,
i saw in a few signaturs that some people are using an "overclocked kernel" with 855mhz?!
How did u do that? I didnt find any thread about updating the kernel.
Thanks and regards
http://android.modaco.com/content/lg-gt540-optimus-gt540-modaco-com/322686/upgrade-kernel-v-0-2-2/
Just install the kernel and install set cpu!
easy.
Awesome Thank u
I tried to install that kernel on my ROM, ROM 2.1 European with fastboot, and the Wi-Fi stopped working, I can't install it . I had to reinstall the ROM to work again, bad luck

Just install update.zip 4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=193463&view=findpost&p=5605684
Well my problem is that I flashed my Gnote with ICS and now seems to be a problem with the kernels ( i read it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26272631 )
So as that thread says, now i have to change the kernel by flashing with odin/heimdall, but i wanted to ask you guys if any kernel will work with my rom or not... and if you can give me a link with a safe one (i didn't find any link to say that is safe, although i have to confess that i haven't searched too much neither ) I have this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589375 but v01 and i'll upload a screencapture with the system info because i think that would be useful.
Thank to evereybody and lets hope that the problem is going to be fixed soon

Flash this kernel to be on a safe kernel flash via Odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...4&d=1337346991
Read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627854
the first link doesnt work, and about the second, what you want me to say is that is ok to flash the kernel they recommend there via odin and no need to change my rom right?
really thank you i was pretty worried about this problem...
WAIT
I think you should go back to stock GB and then use one of the safe kernels to install an ICS rom, like CM9.
I'm really a bit confused but this is from what I understand.
I still don't know what to do... does the kernel have to be combatible with the rom or it doesn't matter which ROM i'm on? for now i want to keep this ROM because works really good or to get the original ICS... so guys what do you say? Is it ok if i flash the kernel that brockyneo told me?
I would reccomend flashing the latest cm9 nightly as the rom your using is a old unoffical version of it. In order to do this flash the kernal i have attached via mobile odin (your phone will NOT boot using this kernal so make sure you go into recovery). Then flash the abyss note kernal via cwm, after which go into advanced and reboot recovery. Then in this recovery you can flash the CM9
Hope that helps
Hello dear XDA peeps
I need some help here or maybe I dont, thats why Im asking!
I rooted and followed all the guides a couple of months back, must be over half a year, and installed ICS Stunner 1.4.19. At that time that was simply the most interesting for my Note. These days when more stable ICS roms seem much more appealing. Altho Im thinking Im waiting for a stable working beta for JB
Since I havent done some ROM loving for quite a while Im quite confused where to begin, do I need to upgrade CWM Manager first? I have version 3.15. Or can I go straight on new ROMs? I spent some time reading about updating CWM today and it seems I have a really dangerous kernel version, 3.0.15-I9220ZLP5-CL295568 and if I understand the CWM Manager thread correctly thats part of the dangerous kernels. Which seems quite dangerous to update it since I cant find a safe version of CWM Manager to update to.
So the bottom question, do I need to update CWM Manager first to do anything safe or update the kernel first to perhaps an old safe rooted GB kernel? All the guides and stuff says the safest way is to first install an old safe GB kernel and then install a ICS or JB kernel (not at the moment tho) but is this the truth in my case?
Anyway, I really appreciate if you could give me some advice here
Thanx in advance

There is newer cf root that is 5.6. This is a safe rooted stock kernel by chainfire with CWM manager.
The devs suggest when installing TW ics custom rom it is recommended to install it while already in ics rom.
First install stock gingerbread rom, while in gingerbread rom do the wiping data, cache, and dalvik and then flash ics rom for clean installation. DO NOT WIPE IN STOCK ICS ROM, DANGEROUS. READ THE WARNING IN THE FORUM.
You can choose any tw custom rom you like.
If you want suggestion on what custom rom just ask i gave you one.
Ok, still not sure what do to first but it is safe to install a GB rom first? Updating CWM isn't that important? What I meant was that I still cant find a fitting version to install. Nearest version is: CF-Root-SGN_DD_ODD_LP8-v5.5-CWM5.zip but thats on the danger list so Im still confused about what version to download.. :/
Perhaps CF-Root-SGN_DD_ODD_LP8-v5.6-CWM5.zip is safe to install tho?
EDIT: I saw that I had cf-root version 5.2, it was CWM Manager that was version 3.15
EDIT: getting a new baseband comes with a rom, no need to install baseband seperatly? For example, getting Cassie's XtraLiteRom Version X LC1 295Mb is getting my baseband LC1 too?

You can flash the cassies custom rom directly over the stunner rom if you want to, just be sure to use ABYSS KERNEL for wiping.
Base band also known as modem. There are many flashable modem to choose so no problem what modem you Want.
If you want to install cassies latest custom rom you will get also the latest CWM recovery and manager.
Uhm ok.. so much information Im confused as usual
I cant find exactly abyss kernel. Can it be this one? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362424/
And can I flash all roms via CWM or do I have to use PC ODIN?
EDIT: found the abyss note kernel, really slow downloading tho.

hey,
watch the vids from Cursed4eva on youtube - this one in particular
he is very clear and shows you what to do.
Thanx peeps!! Now Im off to messing with Parandroid Thanx again!
hi guys, i have some issues during installation process. when i try to install any ROM it just dont accept it. ive followed exact instructions and checked for my version, baseband, rooted, installed xrecovery, wiped data, install rom, again full wipe and again it seems that doesnt work. i checked also for requirements, i have unlocked bootloader, have stock kernel but no lucky at all. im desperate, i dont wanna to stuck again with eclair because its poor in comparation with >2.2. i havent mentioned that earlier about 3 months ago i succed to install gingerv20 without any problem but now i cant. pls help
If you have unlocked your bootloader then why are you on stock kernel?? :what:
Flash the correct & latest nAa or alfs kernel and then the corresponding compatible rom.
Also don't do full wipe AFTER you have flashed the rom!!
Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
U are not mentioning that u have installed a kernel with flashtool. If you are using a Rom which requires custom kernel then you have to flash first it with flashtool
Sent from my ST26i using xda app-developers app
You better use cwm instaid of xrecovery. If you have indeed unlocked your bootloader then you can install the kernel with flashtool and the cwm will be included. Also as i have already told you see what kernel the rom works with!
hey guys, when i choosed what rom i will download, in requrement said that will work with stock kernel and i didnt flashed it. but before that rom i flashed it with flashtool to try others and also didnt work...im not that noob, i can read but im sure that i srewed something up...i'll continue to try and i'll let u know have i succed...tnx anyway
After many roms tryed i finally succed to install 'Update-GingerElite.V2', and i didnt FULL WIPED after installing it as ''cdeox8'' said, and he was right. In requrements just said that that need to be rooted, Baseband 015, Sony Ericsson Stock Kernel and that was true, but i tryed few of roms who required same things but they didnt work. Anyway im not gonna to risk anymore with roms, i like this GingerElite so im gonna keep it for the moment. When i buy other phone im goona make some experiments tnx guys anyway
So about a week ago I bought this samsung galaxy s3 lte gt-I9305, after 2 days i rooted it and installed Agni custom kernel. No problems yet. Then about 3 days ago I installed cm12.1 and i noticed that the Agni custom kernel wasn't working on it (Sleep of Death, Lag, Stuttering, Freezing.) And now I tried to flash the stock firmware via odin and It lags like hell and keeps freezing and rebooting right after i get to choose my language. The other stock based roms won't work either. Please help. And sorry if bad english.

I always use right kernel for the roms I install. Oddly the stock firmware I tried to install is now working. The only problem is that it now freezes in 5-15 minutes.
