I am looking for a keylogger for my Lumia 920.
Any ideas?
No.
(do I *dare* ask why?)
WP8 apps cannot intercept (or inject) input to other apps. You could log keypresses in your own app, but not across the OS (including in any other app, browser, etc.)

There isn't any and probably won't be any due to the way the OS is built.
I'm going to close this thread as we shouldn't even be discussing any sort of methods to hijack the privacy of others.

Not only is it not needed, it couldn't possibly do anything since it wouldn't have any access to anything it would need to scan.

Assuming that such a ridiculous thing even existed (there are scams on the market that claim to be antivirus programs -- they're NOT), it WOULD.
This is NOT MICROSHAFT. Forget everything you know about viruses.

While I agree with lbcoder, the "MICROSHAFT" comment was unhelpful and unnecessary. Ever heard of/used an anti-virus product on a WinMo phone? Nope. Me either.
And for the record... Linux and OSX have viruses as well.
Don't worry about a virus on your Android phone.

i've heard of at least one, but i can't remember the name of it.
a job i was doing some years ago saw the boss and myself using imate jasjams (HTC TyTN?).
my boss managed to locate an antivirus app for the phone and installed it.
no idea how well it worked. i didn't bother with it.
Symantec had/has one for WinMo. I used it for a while. But it was more of a gimmick than anything else. Never seen a virus or a positive scan.
I would say because of the nature of Android we shouldnt see much in terms of viruses, however the system leaves much too control to trojans imho.
read bout this new app from droidsecurity called virusfree, meant to be good. They also offer a phone tracking service so you can remote wipe the memory if it's lost or stolen, that sounds pretty handy as I've previously had a phone stolen and it's a pain to change passwords etc

You clearly don't understand the difference in the system architecture when compared to that BS that most people commonly use because thats what their computer came with. I'm not going to bother trying to explain it to you since you clearly are not receptive to knowledge.
Briggs, looks like you hit a nerve there, why don't you go and educate yourself young man
lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.
wouldn't virsus be possible if they do manage to get root access? I know a few of the customized ROMs require no notification for applications to gain root status. I am sure with root, an application can some how manage to do some damage. rm -r /sdcard anyone?

True enough - but there are somethings you just can't do from a Mac or Linux machine... Odin is one of those. (Maybe Odin works on Linux, I don't remember...)

WOW!!! Why are there so many NEGATIVE and CRANKY people here in the Note forum? I have been a user of XDA for a loooooong time and I have never seen so many negative responses in any other device forum (except maybe the Galaxy Nexus forum - Their pretty cranky in there too).
Also... Who are you (or anyone for that matter) to say that if you are developing for Android on Windows that it is a disgrace? May I remind you that Windows is the 99.9 % DOMINANT Computer OS in the world?! If it was'nt for people developing on Windows I would have to say that we as a community would NOT have 90% of the ROMS, Themes, Tweaks or Apps that we have now so get real and keep your silly Linux fanboi comments to yourself.
As for the OP... All he is doing is trying to spread the word on that script which may indeed be helpful to someone who may NOT often check in the "Android" bulk forum so why dont you just cut him a break?

Was the post useful for you? No
Was it useful for me? No
Was it useful for any developer here? No
Does it pertain to Note development? No
Is this guy ever gonna check back on this post? No
Is Linux better than Windows? Yes, tenfold...even for a non power user like myself.
Are we STILL stuck in a Windows centric world? Yes, unfortunately.
Do developers mainly develop with Windows in mind? Yes, unfortunately. I had to use a Windows computer, gasp, to root my Note because there was no way for me to root it with Linux until I found out about Heimdall.
Edit: Why am I and everyone else so cranky? Because we all have the best phone around and are therefore superior in every way. Duh.

well i just said no to all the points you disagree with from the OP..
linux is better than windows for certain tasks but windows is still far superior over linux in many ways, just because you use it it doesnt necessarily mean its the best, same withthe galaxy note, unfortunately its the i own it so its the best mentality situation
Hello, as the title says,
Is there a way to Dev. unlock your WP8 using XP or Vista? I tried to download the SDK for WP8, but it tells me I need W8 to run it. Any work around?
Thanks
Given that you would need a paid developer account to developer unlock the phone I would guess that you would want to develop for WP8 and for that you would need Windows 8 anyway.

I already have my student account. But, I guess you're saying no point in having my phone dev. unlocked because I need W8 to create programs anyway.
Thanks for the reply.

Check your dreamspark account from your university.
I searched and searched and cannot find a clear answer to this, so I apologize in advance if I'm asking something redundant.
I recently purchased an Icon and my most used app on a daily basis was Metrotalk. I was part of the beta and purchased it as soon as it was available eagerly. The dev was awesome and updated the app in a way that set a high standard. Well, with the threat from Google of blocking access to Google Voice for 3rd party apps, the developer decided to unpublish the app just weeks prior to me finally upgrading to a WP8 device (which he added numerous exclusive features for).
Here's the deal though: the xap is still available for download from it's page on the store. Is there any way for me to get install this manually on my phone still? If so, can anyone direct me a thread here that tells me how to do it?
Thanks, folks. Here's to hope ...
Does your phone have an SD card slot? If so, download the .XAP from the web store and put it on the SD card, then (with card in the phone) open the Store hub. There should be an option to install the app from the SD card. I can't promise it'll work but it's worth trying.

Unfortunately it doesn't.
I've read about developer unlocking my phone, using a xap deployer and several other things but I'm hesitant to go that route without knowing for sure it would work. I'm not a developer and I'm not looking to sideload a bunch of apps or anything like that. I just want this one that I purchased back really, really bad. Yeah, it's that useful of an app for me.
When it's unpublished, there's no way to redownload it. You need an unencrypted xap for that (not from the store). Best way would be to ask the developer, and if he gives it to you you can just download the windows phone SDK, register the phone & deploy the app.

Well, the worst that could happen is him saying no. You don't put your device security to risk, it's not illegal and should be ok ^^ if you don't want the whole SDK and don't need it, you can get the "lite sdks" from arnold link here: http://dhost.info/vink/avink/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4 it has everything needed to deploy the app.
Tried to contact the dev 3 different ways and no response. This sucks.

I tried there too, along with email and reddit.
What I don't understand is why the pressure to remove the app from the store when other apps (such as Free Talk) are still available on there? Was Metrotalk singled out because it was awesome???
These are rhetorical questions, as I know no one here can answer them and the developer only talks about Metromail now ...
