[Q] LG Optimus 4X HD - Answers call automatically - LG Optimus 4X HD

Guys,
Facing a strange problem since morning. Here are the sequence of incidents since mornings -
As usual I got into my car with bluetooth switched on and went to office.
I did make a couple of calls using bluetooth from my car
I reached office, and went on to work
I had kept the phone on my desk in front of me
I realized a call coming on my phone but it did not vibrate nor did it make any sound, I was surprised and kept looking at the phone
After a couple of rings, the phone automatically answered the call.
I just put the phone to my ears and started talking.. freaky, but I ignored it
After that all calls received I am finding the same behavior
I made number of calls from my office phones and the phone gets answered automatically
I checked and the sound was reduced to zero, so I made it maximum
Vibrator doesn't work anymore, even after several restarts
I tried using the hidden mode 3645#*880#, and was unsure how to go about vibrator test, the phone doesn't vibrate at all
Please suggest some workaround.
Note that since last 15 days I am facing number of weird problems most of which got solved after re-calibration using the hidden mode, so there seems to be some problem with the phone. Should I reset the phone to factory settings? I am on stock OS Android 4.1.2, never have rooted the phone

Backup your data to a external medium and try the factory reset like you already said.
If that doesn't work and you don't want to mess with reflashing stock with LG software I'd suggest you to send it to LG repair service.
If you don't have a warranty anymore try the reflash of a stock firmware (repair option in LG tool).

Ok, I can try that.
Is it ok if I back up everything to the SD card before I try factory reset? Sorry, but I am not used to flashing/backups/rootings.

I'm not completely sure and I would definitely remove the SD card if you backup your data to it just to be sure
For flashing the stock firmware/ repairing it search for LG Support Tool (I think that was the official one).
You need to install drivers and the Tool itself but it's not hard at all.

Ok, I can try removing the SD card and use the LG official softare. However, I do not have a laptop using which I can do this now. However, I can still try and get one just to do this.. Thanks for the info and support.

[Q] Lots of problems with my SGS

so, i've been using xda for a while now and i would like to start thanking all the contributors and the nice android community there is.
today i'm posting my 1st post and it's not for good reasons...
i got my sgs [i9000 international] on september and i have to say it has been nothing but problems.
it was working ok but then came along the 1st issue - unable to receive text messages. it would just stop to receive them and i would have to place the sim card on another phone receive the 50 sms or so i was supposed to have been receiving and then place the sim card back on the sgs and it would be fine for 5 days or so and the problem would begin again and i must say walking around with 2 mobile phones is just stupid when i only need 1...
in order to solve this and some other lags the phone had i decided to update to 2.2. in portugal there's no official update in kies (at least for me...) so i decided to go custom rom. i went with doc's rom BUJP8 V9.0.1 non-wipe and then voodoo's lag fix and i finally had the mobile phone i always wanted. then came along another issue - unable to receive phone calls (it doesn't receive sms and phone calls, what kind of a mobile phone is this?!). when someone is calling me, the phone lights up, it says there's no network available, it regains the signal and i don't even know who called!
now, i don't know what to do, i have a sgs that just doesn't work and i don't know what i'm supposed to do. this thing cost me a lot of money and i just don't want to waste it, all i really want is a proper mobile phone, i want the sgs!
i would appreciate any help, tell me if i've done something wrong, what i can do to have this working.
thanks in advance
~galaxydroids
ps: sorry for the english, as i've said i'm from lisbon, portugal
the attachment shows the sgs info after the custom rom flash
Sounds really weird indeed.
Have you tried hard-reseting your phone?
Does it still do the same after a hard-reset?
Maybe there is something wrong with the phones hardware it you keep loosing signal, where other phones works perfectly.
I would say, try putting in stock ROM (2.1 for Portugal?) and see it the problems still occur. If they do, maybe you should send it in for repair.
so i was kind of avoiding the hard reset but went for it.
now the phone is...well... isn't. it did everything, rebooted and now the two led buttons are lighted up and the phone randomly vibrates. that's it. it's been like this for quite some time now. is this supposed to happen?
Mine started to do that after a reboot also I just reinstalled the rom and its working for now.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
how did you reinstall the rom? i can't even connect it to the computer...
Using download mode, I guess...
yeah well i can't get into download or recovery mode, neither one of them, i've tried all the combos with the keys...
if i'm unable to get into download mode how can i use odin?
my guess is that your problem might be due to your carrier... I don't know over there in portugal, but I've always heard vodafone isn't very good....
I have same phone, international version, bought on sept. mine came from handtec.co.uk...
if your phone is like mine, you should be able to enter download mode, just hold down the volume down key + home key + power key.. in that order, you should see your phone boot to download mode.
Hope it helps

[Q] External SD card not getting registered from time to time?

When I first got my 2x I had no problems with a dismounting SD card. But recently it has started to happen and generally when the phone reboots on its own and such. When it then comes back online it has dumped the External SD card and I am either forced to peel off the cover and then disconnect and reconnect the card.
Or simply reboot manually and go from there. Either of the 2 methods remounts the card, but I am simply at a loss as to what causes the phone to dump it the first time around.
Anyone got any ideas or tips on this?
Tried with different cards?
I have not experienced this whatsoever. I'm using Transcend 8 GB class 6.
I don't really have a huge choice of cards considering the one I am using is a 16 gig one . And it worked juts fine in the HTC Desire I had before the LG.
And it worked fine in the beginning, with the LG. The phone only started being a bit retarded about it a week or 2 ago >_<
I've had the exact same problem. No idea when/why it happens :<
Same here...
And same here, started a couple of days ago.
I would try to format the card with SD Formatter from Panasonic. Do a Google search. I works real good.
I notice this problem only happens to me if I restart the phone using an app (or via clockwork). I have resigned myself to no longer restarting but to instead, shutdown the phone and manually powering it on again..

Please add your support to the thread over at MoDaCo about Paul's reboot app then...
Same happened to me last night. I've had my Optimus 2X for 5 weeks now, never had any spontaneous reboots, it was quite stable actually. Last night I mounted an 8 GB Kensington external SD for the first time on this phone, with some music and videos on it. After booting up, everything worked perfectly. Then, I went listening to songs via YouTube. All of a sudden, nothing but a very loud humming, which continued after I removed and put back the earphone plug. And then, the phone rebooted by itself, for the first time. After it had rebooted, the external SD was still visible using AndroZip, but it was empty! I was pissed off and went to sleep. Just now, I shut off the phone and started it again, and the external SD is back, with all the stuff I put on it last night. So this incident kind of freaked me out. I mean, the 2X isn't what you call a low-end, cheap phone, is it?
same problem here
Did this happen to anyone on stock rom or could the issue be related to a custom rom?
I have been using a class 6 16GB sdcard (unbranded from a reliable seller @ ebay) for about 2 weeks and did not encounter such error, but I am still on stock rom.

Didnt have it on stock, so it could be a custom rom problem, though i had it on fr17 and cm7 and everything based on that. Seeing as fr 17, if im correct, uses stock as a base it should be possible to happen on stock aswell. Someone correct me if im wrong though

sometimes i also have the mount problem, also in recovery ...
a reboot helps in most cases, sometime it needs 2 ...
i also notified that software reboot to recovery (with an app, o2x reboot) causes mounting problems of sd card more often than rebooting with magic keys ...
but it´s not happening regularly, so i can live with that ...
i had it twice on stock, but in a month's time, so it isn't so frequent fortunately
I have the problem on stock rom and if I do a restart... The phone gets hot where the sd card is once loaded back up. Its shows as Unavailable in SD & Phone Storage and have to then just switch the phone off/on and it shows up again. Strange!.
It must be something to do with a soft reset!....
has anyone figured out a solution to this problem yet?
I was about to start a new thread on this prob, luckily i saw this 1st. I also face this prob. My class4 16gb sd card sometimes become unavailable without any notice. Any solutions?

[Q] automatic random reboot

hey all,
i got my galaxy note now 3 weeks ands it's rebooting random all the time. at a service point i let them do a factory reset but that did not work. does anybody know a solution for this problem? because i dont like to send my note cause i will not have a few days sow if anyone got a solution i like to try it.
Gr Sven
Suffering from the same here
I think its related to one of the apps - I will start removing my installed apps one by one from tonight - Will keep you posted with the updates.
Also, if anyone out there had the same issue; please advice!
I had the same issue on previous android devices..I managed to get around it with numerous hard resets. Also I believe that a certain combination of apps will cause it too..but i don't know which ones. I've got a dell streak right now, and its been stable for a few months..having said that, it still randomly reboots once in a while but no where near the consistency it used to.

I had this problem too and it seems to be an installed app problem, particularly any that change the wireless settings in some way or apps that stall when accessing the external SD card at boot times.
this is exactly what happens to me guys, same problem.
Random reboot and this happens all around the clock, no matter if it is day or night or if the phone is in flight mode...
Frankly I don't want to uninstall my apps one by one to check what app is causing the issue because I have no time to spend on it...
I hope that someone with more software skills than me (I am just an user) will succeed to fix it...
cheers.
Do you have Dolphin browser installed?
If it's the case, don't search further...
What's the problem with dolphin browser? I constantly use it and never had a restart. Is OPs phone overclocked or undervolted?
Which rom and kernel are being used?
mine is also rebooting every once in a while for no apparant reason. Mostly when I unplug it from the USB cable but not always. This happened from the first day on. I never did a factory reset but considering it now since the SMemo app is not working anymore (no strokes are visible) and I am out of options.

Dolphin is a well known app for causing random reboot, since SGS 2.
Not for all users but for many:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321612&highlight=randomly
But without Dolphin installed, I really don't know...
I think it's the SD card causing these problems.
My reboot problems all disappeared when I removed the 32Gb sandisk card. I replaced it with a 16Gb card and was very careful about which apps I installed on it. Now whether it was the card size/brand or the selective apps that resolved the issue I can't be sure. Having Dolphin's cache on the phone memory instead of the SD card might also be a solution.
But it's worth investigating if you have reboot problems with external card installed.
Hi guys,
As soon as I got my Note, I rooted it and flashed a custom rom. Never had problems with reboots so far.
So, for a change I though setting it beck to stock was a good idea, with the upcomming ICS update.
As soon as I flashed the stock rom with odin, and it was back to factory situation, the reboots start happening. Every 3-6 hours the Note rebooted. Got in contact with Samsung (NL) and suggested to execute a factory reset, so I tried that a couple of times. But no luck, the reboots keep happening. I thought maybe it was an hardware issue. I have no Sdcard, only my SIMcard, which was a bit warn out, so I order a new SIM. But still, the reboots keep happening.
Then I decided to root my device again and flash a custom rom (Rocket-Rom), and guess what? No more reboots!!!
I hope this helped.
To me, I think automatic reboot is somehow still acceptable. I experienced two times auto power off. Both were happened after I charged it over night, unpluged the charger and left it without unlocking the screen, drove to my work place, and found it dead
I'm only having it for 2 weeks and I haven't rooted it.
it maybe a usb charging issue which is causing so much grief to many note owners. Mine has a defective usb port and it makes my note go crazy, including reboots and makes the note think its charging when its not even connected to charger at all.
Using note since dec... Faced such problem 5 or 7 time whn my phn was nt rooted... But nw its working fine... Using rocket rom v 20...

phone vibrates even when switched off! - please help

ok so i got my htc one a couple of days ago and it sees to have a serious problem!
Basically the phone goes through stages of random vibrating every few mins to full on constant vibrating like there is a fan or motor buzzing in there. It even does it if the phone is switched off! Ive just had an episode of it vibrating no stop for 10 mins, didnt make a difference when i switched it off or when i factory reset it!
It seems to overheat or something and only stopped doing it after i had just left it for a while. I have tried to speak with htc about it but they were useless and had no suggestions what soever.
I really need some help here, i bought the phone privately and to all intense purposes it seemed like brand new

No cant exchange it, only option i might have if i cant get the problem ressolved on here would be to send it to htc for repair but can take up to 2 weeks.
when i got the phone it was still on 4.1 and told me update available to 4.2 so i did that. Thats all i have done , apart from unlocking it from 02 using a code.
its almost like on a computer when its being worked hard etc that you here the fan cut in, thats what it seems like except it sounds like the buzz you get when you first start the phone. sometimes it does this just once every few mins or so, other times it will start doing it and not stop...even when switched off.....everything else on the phone seems to work fine

Did the device get wet at some point? Sounds like a hardware problem if a factory reset didn't solve the problem.
There's a slight chance it could be a real bad app or an issue with the rom. Maybe running a stock RUU for your device if you can find it might help.
Pretty sure it hasent got wet .
Would be happy to put stock Rom back on it but not sure how I go about reflashing it .
Don't know if this normal or not but when I did a factory reset I thought the device would be wiped completely, all my pictures and videos etc however when I set it back up again I found some videos on there still that I had downloaded to the phone off the net.
Maybe it's not wiping itself correctly either?

Resetting the device should wipe everything and bring it to the same condition as new.
Go to settings>>Backup & Reset>>Reset phone>>now check "Erase all data", then tap "OK".
If that doesn't work, try to do a factory reset from the bootloader.

Factory reset will wipe the device but leave the contents of the sdcard untouched which explains why your vids are still there
Appreciate the help guys, thankyou
So, is there any benifit to wiping the device completely over and above what I've done allready?
Today the phone has just done the odd sudden vibration as if you were just booting up, around 5 times in total, nowhere near as bad as last night, don't know why that would be.
Would it be possible to reflash standard firmware?
Is so how would I do it. Phone is completley standard and was in 4.1 prior to the ota update to 4.2, could 4.2 be the problem?

I'd try it. You can back up your pics and music on your PC via HTC Sync first.
Ok so I have tried it but no joy
Still getting the random buzzing/vibration for no apparent reason.
Could it be a bug with the update to 4.2.2?
Can I go back to 4.1?

Don't think it's a bug with 4.2.2 but a hardware issue.
Couple of other things to try ; download "CID Getter" from the play store, run it and find out your device's CID number. Now search on Google or xda for the RUU for your device's CID number. Download the RUU.exe to your pc, connect your phone to the pc and run the RUU.exe. This will bring the phone back to stock 4.1..
Or you can unlock the bootloader and flash another rom. Step by step instructions can be found on xda
Sorry, don't know of any easy solutions.

ok so just to update this....
last night i have tried the standard google edition rom on my phone and for the first few hours all seemed fine untill 4am this morning when i was woked by the phone doing its random vibrating thing...it was just sat by the side of my bed on charge
Can only think it must be a hardware issue now...but still dont know what or what is triggering it

My HTC one has been doing the same thing. Vibrating randomly even when powered down. Brought it back to Sprint and had them order me a new phone. The only way to stop it from vibrating when powered down was to bang it on a hard surface, then it would stop. Crazy!
Vibrating non stop
My HTC One had been vibrating cotinuously too. I kept slapping the upper part of the phone to stop it from vibrating. However, this worked for the initial few days only. Later, it continued to vibrate continuously without stopping at all ! In the night I left the phone in the other room while it was still vibrating and the next morning the phone wouldn't charge at all! Now the phone is not booting/ charging. It is dead! Any leads?
EDIT: I slapped the upper part again, it suddenly woke up from the dead! It is charging now, the LED is red too!! But it is still continuously vibrating. I have left it to charge as of now, but please help with this vibrating problem. Any ideas?
I've had the same issue with my M7 today.
There were no software updates or any new apps lately.
It all emerged when i was pressing the home button (to exit from some app) and at the same time an incomming call started.
I have tried:
switching it off - did not help
Changing volume setting silent\vibe\sound a couple of times - no effect
Soft reset - no help
Hard reset - no help
Slapping with upper side of the phone against my had - helped for some time, the it started again
Seems like hardware issue.
Currently working solution for me:
Switch off the option "Vibrate on keypress" in Settings ==> Sound & notification
UPD: had to turn off all the vibrations
So far so good. Apparently there is some issue with vibe motor, and it just does not stop. I assume that by disabling that option it is not getting started and thus no constant vibe follows.
UPD 2 Fixed:
Issue reoccurred on hitting the device against my palm.
Had to disassemble it, there are a couple of instructions on youtube, i used plastic cards.
Motor was spinning even with a switched off device. Had to unplug and plug the motor a couple of times and it helped.
Turned on all vibrations in settings, no issues so far.
Hope that helps.

[Q] Mic cuts out but with a twist.

The mic on my son's D4 was cutting out during calls, he could press any button to get it to stop for a second but it would keep doing it. He could hear the caller but they could not hear him. He did numerous factory resets (always being sure not to have stuff backed up to Google) and got a new SIM, tried safe mode. No change, still had trouble. For what it's worth, calls on Skype worked with no trouble so it's not the phone.
I got a new phone so sent him my old D4, it had never done this to me so again, nothing wrong with the phone. He fired it up and it started muting right away. It's not the phone, it's not the SIM...it has to be Google somehow. He's done more numerous factory resets and safe modes and making sure it's not backing up to Google but the new-to-him phone is still muting calls. He says that stuff IS being backed up because it pulls his wallpaper over every time he resets.
Any ideas on what he can try or why it may be happening?

I got a new phone so sent him my old D4, it had never done this to me so again, nothing wrong with the phone. He fired it up and it started muting right away. It's not the phone, it's not the SIM...it has to be Google somehow. He's done more numerous factory resets and safe modes and making sure it's not backing up to Google but the new-to-him phone is still muting calls. He says that stuff IS being backed up because it pulls his wallpaper over every time he resets.
Any ideas on what he can try or why it may be happening?

Root safestrap and install cm10.2 on stock romslot? Or fastboot stock image. If neither works its gonna be a h/w issue

It's not rooted and he won't root. It's not a hardware issue, the phone he's using now was mine and never had any issues. It's the same problem on two different phones with different/new SIMs. As I said, Skype works without cutting out.
Something very strange is going on.

I'd say to fastboot or rsd to latest image and try then. Could also be a signal problem also
