Hi all, Just getting back into the Android scene and wondering what in your opinion is the fastest stable mod for this old beast? I need to use it for a couple months while I wait for my contract to end. I currently have Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 RC2 and it seems a bit sluggish.

you can try the CM11 M1...
or you can try other KK roms..
for me KK works the best, but ofcourse it's my personal opinion..
I've been happy with SlimBean 4.3.1 w/Semaphore kernel.
Users need to make this determination on their own and independantly - as fast for you can be determined by a number of variables and factors.
As these type thread always end up in arguments over which rom is "best", this thread is closed.

Whats the best rom available right now for the N1? I haven't tested my N1 with anything in a while been running MIUI but I'm finding it to be sort of laggy now with apps installed.
Fastest? Hmm, pretty much any CM7 self-kang.
This one by samuaz is really fast: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416894
Is that the most stable rom available for nexus one right now?
with multiple full wipes to include system both are stable for me
with ICS by samuaz you need to follow op page exactly
Temaseks latest CM7 Kang with scroll zip is BLAZING
I use now ICS by samuaz, it's fast and really stable. But it's an alpha version!
When you think it's important to have a stable rom, then
use CM7. CM7 roms are as stable as stock, but better ;-)
worth upgrading to ICS or JB?
hello. I realize this thread hasn't been active in a while, but I am thinking to bring back my Nexus One from the grave so I can have a backup phone for my daughter to play with in the car/plane. I wanted to ask if it is worth installing ICS or JB ROMs that are out there. I just have the stock ROM in there now and I always struggled with low memory and lag with some newer apps, that's why I've upgraded phones (I've have a Galaxy Nexus now).
I don't have intentions to put a SIM card in there, so I don't really care about phone call features.. only purely from a processing and lightweight standpoint.
Has anybody played enough with GB vs ICS and/or JB and weighed if it's worth upgrading? I'm assuming that it's worth it because so many developers still have Nexus One ROMs... that's why I would just go ahead and install it, but then I'm thinking again if it's just going to bog down the phone if I'm going to only use it for simple games.
Thanks in advance!!
Ken
Hello! I have installed the CM10.1 VJ Jelly Bean 4.2.2 v6.0 that is based on CyanogenMod and Evervolv, and works fine for me. I also have installed all the /data partition in the SD card with the A2SD script that is incorporated in the ROM... it generates some few lags, but I didn't have had any problem of lack of space again.
In my opinion, this is the ROM of JB that best preserves the native Android interface, and in my case is stable (until 7 days without to require a reboot!).
Other JB ROMs that users frequently use are PARANOIDANDROID and PixelDroid.
Thanks for the quick response! That is the ROM I was thinking of as well. However, just as a comparison, I'm thinking to flash a clean version of GB back onto the phone as well. Any recommendations on any GB ROMs as well? Thanks!

Sorry, but I can't help on it. I didn't install any GB ROM further than the stock ROM. In my opinion, I think that a stable, complete and functional ROM might be CyanogenMod 7.2. Maybe other XDA members can help you better on it...

This is my main phone. In several times I though changing to other new Nexus device, but the screen size of new devices is too big for me! I like a screen size from 3.7 to 4.0, that is good to read mails, a brief navigation in the Internet, and other minor issues. For other intensive uses, I have my tablet Nexus 10 or my laptop.
HI all... My wife has an Galaxy S I9000 and it's not updated long time ago. I really am sorry for bothering you,but when I did search the forum for this phone, found many ROM's
My question is, what ROM do you guys here suggest, DOENS'T have to be latest android or something, just to be latest as possible, but first of all to be FAST, RELIABLE and STABLE ???
Best Regards, this forum RULEZ!

There are threads where people ask which ROM is the best etc.
Mainly they recommend SlimICS 4.2 or X-Bean if you wanna JB.

I'm currently using team android jellybean and its super smooth and fast due to project butter. It can be used for daily use, so your wife can call and text like normal. However if you prefer a more stabler ROM I recommend team nyx. Its ICS (android 4.0) and team android jellybean is jellybean (android 4.1).
Ps. Both are great
Just got the wife one of these and installed cm9 rc2,everything is spot on...
I did have cm9 stable but had an issue with ringtones so reverted back to the rc2 version.
why not start with the stable and if theres any issues its straightforward to roll back to rc2 without losing any data etc...
Okay first of all I freaking love this place it's brought an entire new life onto my captivate so here's whats going on..
I have cm9.0.0-RC0 installed with 4.0.3 but I just realized a few days ago that the alpha fourm I was on is extremely outdated and that everyone had moved onto the newer one. (yes I realize I look like an idiot at this point)
ANYWAYS...I went to find the latest stable build how ever it also says 9.0.0 so i'm sort of confused if that one is any different. I'm pretty sure I am on the alpha build 17 but like I said still confused...
(Side note: I don't want to use the nightly builds because I use this as my daily phone so I need something stable.)
So do I need to flash the other one or am I good where i'm at? Or should I just wait for CM10 and jelly bean??
Also I know this has been asked but can someone recommend a good kernal to use with this? I'm pretty sure the one I am using is old it's by pawitp.
Thank you for your patience and dealing with my stupidity
(very first n00b post btw)
Go ahead and do an update to the stable version. It is only a few days old, and is worth updating to, especially if you are still on an alpha (I can't imagine that really).
I recommend that you stick with the stock kernel unless you want to play around with things like overclocking. In that case, either Semaphore or Devil are great kernels.
Definitely update, I have been running cm9 nightly for the last 3 months with no issues. I'm on Helly bean now, but my gf is using cm9 stable.
Update now man. You have a choice of the CM9 stable release, plus like four really good Jelly Bean roms that are totally worth the flash. I'm on Paranoid Android right now and its the best Jelly Bean experience I've had on both Android devices that I own so I highly suggest it to you if you're stuck in deciding which JB rom, if you go that route of course.
alright thanks guys! :good:
Hi guys,
I'm selling my iphone 4s and in the meantime going back to my milestone till I decide whether I want the iphone 5 or a newer android phone.
I put the latest cm10 release on my milestone but its quite laggy.(almost unbearable). what would you say is the best stable mod right now for milestone that has the least amount of issues and keeps good battery life/performance?
I prefer CM7.2.1 - or MIUI (basing on an older CM7 version)

I've been away from the S3 mini section on Xda for a while now, so I'm fairly unaware on the latest roms available and what they're like.
I've decided to give the S3 mini to my dad as his entry into the Android world..
Can you lovely experienced users advise me on the latest roms available? The last I knew, Benz rom and dmod were the best and most stable versions and had the best features.
My dads not as experienced as I am so once I give him the phone I'd like for the phone to be very stable and have good battery life versus performance.
Suggestions please?
I hear Tyson made a rom. Hey fella

There are a lot of ROMĀ“s dude...
Some like CM, others SlimBean, ....
I prefer debloated and deodexed ROM with init.d support just like somin.n ROM or Virginity
Try it by yourself.
If you want to keep for phone stable to give it to your dad, then stick with stock or something like benzrom or dmod.
My personal suggestion is that you go for Maclaw's CM 10.2, which has the best battery life, an improved kernel and, well, it is android 4.3
If you wanted to try the latest features, but not final version yet, you could try Maclaw's CM 11. It's a great rom, that works flawless in our devices. Nevertheless, it stills has some small bugs that will be solved in future releases.
The link to maclaw is maclaw.p , give it a try!
PS: remember to flash gapps!
