A friend has tasked me with restoring her phone which has been stuck on the triangle screen with a screwdriver and wrench. At first i thought it was download mode for sony but after some research from what i can pick up its formatting internal memory or something along those lines. others have solved this problem by waiting it out anywhere from 1-2 minutes to 2-3 hours. I have been running this screen plugged in for probably over six hours now and ive noticed that the progress bar at the bottom does stop and it will reboot but boots directly back into the triangle screen. it does not register on my laptop and i havent been able to boot into fastboot or download mode. Not visible through adb either.
Im pretty sure i have the correct drivers installed but if someone wanted to post a link to drivers they use and are confirmed to work please do so.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
Regarding drivers, if you download PC Companion and SUS you should be good to go....
I had the same problem once
But after charging it for 2 hours the phone restrated automatically

Hi. Just a few hours ago while I was on my way home, I was browsing some news feeds with my SGS and I noticed some lag so I thought of restarting it, but to my surprise.. it was not booting anymore and it was stucked displaying the "S" screen then after a while it will go black although the buttons are still lighting up but there is no response or any activity in the screen and the only way to turn it off is to pull out the battery.
Upon getting home, I browsed the internet to find similar cases with most of the suggestions on how to "fix" this was to bring it back to Samsung Service Center and I'm not ready yet to do that so I dug in deeper to research. I just want to share the steps I have done to UNBRICK my almost Semi-bricked SGS.
First of all, my SGS doesn't have access to the 3 button mode recovery (Volume up + Power + Home) thus basically leaving me helpless because I cant reformat my phone from there and worst, in this case, my phone wont even boot up.
Secondly, it was fortunate that i had my phone rooted prior this.
Now, the process:
You should atleast have:
* KIES installed
* Android SDK
* USB Cable
First thing I did was:
* Connect my phone to the USB cable
* Turn phone on
* Wait for KIES to detect it and for windows to install necessary USB drivers (my phone was detected by KIES even if it was hanging in the "S" screen)
* When everything is done, go to COMMAND prompt in windows
* Locate where you initially placed the ANDROID SDK then Tools folder by typing it, example: (C:\Android-sdk\tools)
* when you are already in the right folder type in ADB REBOOT RECOVERY
* Check your SGS and it should be rebooting to the RECOVERY MODE wherein you will now be able to select format options
* move your selection by pressing up and down volume keys
* confirm your selection by pressing home key
* then reboot again and presto.. your phone should be up and running again
Anyway, if you cannot access the recovery mode by using the 3 button process, it could probably because your operator intentionally locked this feature out. There is a fix I found from XDA that works search for : 3 button mode fix
Hope this helps and drop me a message if you have queries.
By the way, i'm trying to restore my apps again so ciao for now.

you forgot to mention something
You must have USB Debugging mode set to enabled before hand, before all of that happened, else if you simply plug the USB cable to the PC with the 3 button disabled, there is no way for it to accept the ADB Reboot Recovery command
The next best thing is as many have commented before
It's to use a hair drier to heatup the phone to get access to the 3 button recovery, for those that got stuck before installing the 3 button recovery fix
also forgot to mention that this has been asked, posted, discussed many many times already. i am glad, however, that you got your phone to work
but he has it listed in a very nice an easy to read format, compared to the other ones we have seen previously
my phone did that a lil while back but i have an early ship date phone there fore i have the hard ware recovery option but this is late coming how is it that every one always says to use odin to recover a bricked phone yet i guess im totally noobish but what good is a back up recovery tool if you cant mount storage

Hello guys
I was trying to unlock my vibrant(i was messing with my nv_data.bin) and then all of a sudden it rebooted and i couldnt connect to my service. It keeps going on off on off. My data doesn't work too.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
THANKS (
Just restore the backup you made of nv_data.bin. You did back it up before you messed with it didn't you?!
Thanks vincler.....
you solved my problem. i made the jig after 2 months but i did it.
i combined the resistors with no solders and just touch the pins with my hands and i got download modes.
thanka again.
i must see how u did this witout soldering

It worked to recover my I9000 that was stuck in the "S" startup screen!
Thanks for sharing the idea; I didn't even thought that adb would work if the phone was stucked there (I thought it wouldn't finish loading it)
oh man mine wont even boot PLEASE HELP!!!!
Think i may have bricked my tab... FAIL.
Verizon Tab. Running stock OS. Was rooted
Bought the Bootstrap recovery so i could do a nandroid backup. I kept failing the VZW update, so i figured do a backup, then remove bootstrap and reflash things to get it right. However...It doesn't work like the Droid X or 2 bootstrap. So that i wasn't prepared for. It automatically ran the backup fine, but on the reboot it just went nowhere and was stuck in a boot loop.
I tried vol up + power, did nothing. Did Vol down + power and got to Downloading screeen. :O Didn't have time to **** with it then, i was getting an oil change and honestly thought it would have just given me the option to run a backup...not run a backup and flash and all the other stuff it did.
Finally get time today to tweak it. It won't even turn on to downloading screen. Can't even get it to bootloop. I plugged it it in the wall and the battery symbol shows, but...it has the spinning "thinking" logo showing, though it never spins and i cannot see how much charge is on it.
I downloaded Hemidall or however you spell it, and the stock verizon tab files. It won't even see the device when i plug it into the laptop. Yes i have the drivers installed. I have hooked up my tab to my laptop MANY times. Running Windows 7 64 bit. Also have Ubuntu if needed. Also downloaded and installed that Visual C++ thing that needed to be downloaded with it.
Any ideas of what to do other then use it as a paper weight? I know i can send it back to Samsung, but i don't think the wife would appreciate me bricking my tablet like that. LOL Somehow i cannot see her taking that as a good thing.
Should i just leave it plugged in for a few hours and hope it starts showing a status update? Been 45 min now, showing nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
edit: OK been a bit longer, took it off, can get it to get stuck at Samsung loading screen again. XD Just didn't try download screen yet cause i want to make sure it is FULLY charged. Only crappy thing is that it still won't show battery status while it is charging, just the thinking symbol. Hope i don't fry the battery then
edit again: Still can't be recognized by Heimdall. CRAP. Anyone know the Vendor ID, Product ID and Interface ID to use to install the proper drivers through zdag??
edit again: hooked up while in download mode, was able to install drivers. Did clean install and rebooted. All fine now. WOOT
Does anyone have any idea why a Hero would for no apparent reason while sitting on a charger go into a reboot cycle only bringing up the htc sign and then the phone with triangle and exclamation point and do nothing else? the phone has never been rooted or anything just did that on its own.
Would running the Regawmod rooter exe possibly fix this?
Also i have another Hero i was given that i have tried to run the rooter on but everytime i do i get the error "Necessary HTC drivers are missing".
i have tried three different versions of HTC sync since i don't know where to get the drivers seperately. all with the same result. any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Tap my avatar or search the hero dev section for my thread on how to install adb. Try those drivers and see if they work for you. If they do then try the hero rooter or run the ruu.

no luck. still have the orange triangle and exclamation point, tried the ADB thing and its not recognizing that the phone is there. but when i plug the phone into the computer it acts as though it is mounting as an external drive but when i click the drive letter it says to please insert a disk.
when i try holding the home and power button i get an error at the bottom of the screen that reads "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"

Ok what steps did you take?? Details please?? And when you setup adb did you type adb devices??? And how did you go about setting up adb???

i went through the steps in your post minus the mobile stream tether and i can't enable usb debugging because the phone will not boot up at all. it has been this way since last night. was just sitting charging and then went into a reboot cycle only bringing up the HTC logo then after awhile of that ended up at the screen its at now with the phone with the triangle and exclamation point.
i did type adb devices but it didn't come up with anything in the list of attached devices.
Edit: i did put the easy tether on the computer but since i can't access the usb options on the phone i can't set up the debugging. i don't know whats up with the phone

The mobile stream steps were the android drivers I originally suggested you to try. So try those drivers and see if they work for you. I posted that thread for users who were having trouble with the htc drivers

ok well i hooked up the working hero so it would install the drivers, which it did, then i hooked up the hero that is stuck for no apparent reason on the error screen and i was finally able to run the regawMOD rooter but i guess because it doesn't have usb debugging enabled it won't allow anything to happen.
just trying to sort out what happened to this phone for it to be stuck at this error screen. nothing has ever been done to it just happened last night while it was charging

What you're seeing is the stock bootable recovery image. Pulling the battery and powering it on again should make this go away. Have you already tried that?

yes have already tried this a couple times, now it just sits at the phone with triangle and exclamation point. won't do anything else
well took the phone to sprint and they deemed it unsalvageable so i guess this is moot. he tried all the standard resets etc. so thanks for all the help but guess the phone is a brick now. wouldn't replace it because the moisture indicators had been tripped.
youd think there would be a way to reforce the OS onto the phone to try to get it going again.
If it was sitting on the charger and went bad, perhaps your charger fried it in some way. Sorry to hear your loss, but look it as an opportunity to get an better phone
Hi guys. I have already exposed my problem as a reply on a post with similar issues and it has been bricked for more the one year, I have tried to recover it several time with no luck. I would like to try one more time before to decide to buy another smart watch.
I remember I was playing trying to unlock the watch and I made it working unlocked. Then I flashed the rom but unfortunately I chose a rom for a different watch, maybe LG urban or something, which resulted on a bricked watch. It boots but the LG icon stays for ever.
I have tried:
taping with to fingers at 10-11 and 4-5 hours on boot
swipping finger from 10-11 to 4-5 on boot
pushing the button for ever
trying to find a reset hidden button (seems there is not)
disassembling watch trying to find something strange
no way to connect to any computer. I was able to see computer detecting something plugged on usb but it refused to connect due to errors with usb-device communication (don't remember exactly which error). So nothing to do with adb
wait until charged and discharged
Pretty secure I have tried more, I am writing from a very bad memory
Do you have any advise? is there something else I can try?
cheers!
Try fastboot command during the boot...
Try flashing a new boot image.
Could you advise how to get fastboot? I mean if device is not even detected there's no way to issue commands, right?
No one? So I would have to buy a New one
Sent from my ONE A2003 using XDA Free mobile app
Try seeking warranty repair?
What do you get in device manager when you connect it over USB?
Charge battery... than Power Off.. Put it it the deep fridge to cool down..
and try to bot after that...
Mine booted.
Hello there, hope you are allright y'all.
Here is my problem with a xt1806 device:
Edit to update: Well, I think I screw this up. Went on with the process suggested on the thread I linked and manage to albus blankflash my device, except it never started the bootloader and now my pc won't even recognize it.
Re-edit: Went out of test mode and reboot pc and know recognizes it as HS USB QDLOADER 9008 once again
*Edit: While reading from scratch everything I find that think might help, I realized maybe I'm not getting answers 'cause of the lenght of the post (was expecting at least some "Huh, that's weird" or "Yeah, bricked. Try this, maybe?"). So...
In a nuthsell:
Tried to root through some apps. No success. Function normally for about two weeks. Suddenly it freezes and goes off.
Can't fastboot even. Only white led blinking.
5 hours later comes back alone. Crashes apps frequently during next 20 hours. Try to reboot. Dead, not even led blinking.
12 Hours later it gets into fastboot on first attempt. Start android from there. Functions fine for an hour.
Reboots alone and enters bootloop not passing beyond Moto logo. Reboot it. Dead.
Minute later enters a fastboot by itself. No green android guy on screen and now status reads "modified" where before said "official".
Throws back error when hittin start (ERROR: No bootimage found. Skip to fastboot. More details below on quote.)
Freezes again and reboots into same fastboot once again. After a minute dies again. PC recognizes it as HS USB QDLOADER 9008.
Thinking about trying an albus/potter blankflash. Any thoughts? Guidance?
I'll keep reading meanwhile. Don't wanaa screw it even more.*
About two weeks ago I attemped a few apps to root my device with no success (not really relevant but I needed to root it to use it as a pendrive to reinstal windows 10 on my pc and was lacking options).
Thing is, after failure it all seemed okay but two days ago my phone froze (small part of the screen kind of slided to one side leaving pink or green pixels behind, if that makes any sense) and went off. Only response was a flashing led when plugged to outlet or pc.
Googling a little gave two options: wait and see (some people had theirs come back alone) or try a blankflash. At the moment I couldn't blankflash so I waited. About 5 hours later it came back to life alone.
During next day I noticed it crashing apps kindda frequently. Tried rebooting at night but it never restarted after going off. Not even led flashing this time (till this point I couln't acces fastboot either).
So nextday (that's today) I started reasearching how to blankflash, as till the moment my experience with such things only went up to installing a custom rom on a g3 and doing a factory reset some time later.
Got worried at the fact that I couldn't fastboot my device, as it seemed needed to blankflash, so I retried and, surprisingly, it worked.
Not being sure what was going on, I selected start and it turned on just fine.
Worked for about an hour and then rebooted by itself but entered a loop, not being able to pass through the moto logo. So I try to reboot it manually, just to find it dead again but with the led now flashing.
Few minutes later, while being conected to the pc, it fastboots alone. But this time the screen is weird. No android green guy on screen. Only fastboot options in the middle and device status below (with now a "modified" where before said "official").
And this message when hittin start option:
Bootloader logs
Start Up Failed:
Your device didn't start up succesfully.
Use the Software Repair Assistant on computer to rapair
Connect to pc to get repair assitant
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure)
Fastboot Reason: Failed to initalize partition table
ERROR: No bootimage found. Skip to fastboot
Boot up failed.
Click to collapse
It reboots into fastboot alone once again, once again with this weird look.
A second later the black background displays horizontal interlined lines of pixels of different colors and goes off again to not be responsive (not even led flashing) once more.
Been all day reasearching. I considered seeing if this works https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/help/moto-g5-plus-hard-bricked-recognized-t3636457/page18 as my pc recognizes the phone as hs usb qdloader 9008
The thing is I'm afraid it won't work, given I don't really know what is happening and my phone is different from the one on that thread.
So I'd very much appreciate any help given. Thoughts, whatever you have. Even insults on my intelligence provided they come with a solution HAHA.
Sorry if it's hard to read. English is my second language. Been all day on both spanish and english sites. My brain is clogged by now.
Also, if you suggest I follow the solution presented on the thread I linked. Please point me to where to learn how to fast boot from adb or whatever is needed if I cant fastboot manually.
I'm worried about that too and at this point I can't even think properly.
Maybe all I need is a clear mind but, whatever helps.
Thanks for your time.
Did you manage to recover your device mine is xt1805 its dead with white light blinking.
