I'm using a C6902 xperia z1, 4.3 JB, (bootloader unlocked, rooted), 14.2.A.0.290.
I'm still getting a notification for updating the firmare to a version i already have... any clue how to remove notification WITHOUT CLEARING THE DATA FOR UPDATE CENTER?
Screenshot Attached.
Refresh the update center. Should go away then. I had this problem too

I can't know for sure, but I'd bet it's not erroneous, there's just probably a new revision available for your particular customisation ID.
E.g. You're running 14.2.A.0.290 R1A, the update contains 14.2.A.0.290 R2A.

Open dialer, press *#*#SERVICE#*#*, click software info > customisation info or something like that, there's a value for "Customisation revision" or something, and that will be maybe R1A, R1B, R2A, R2B, etc. What I'm saying is that maybe one of your regions carriers has changed its APNs or something, and that means that Sony will need to push out a new APN configuration, and the way they do this is by sending out a tiny tiny update to the existing firmware, and only in your region. For example, when I had the Xperia Z the exact same thing happened to me, same firmware popped up in update center, upon installation I noticed no difference except a change in the customisation revision from R1A to R2A.
Received a notification to update to 14.2.A.1.136 early morning... thanks guys

When will the 4.2.2 update be released in the UK? Seems like it's been out for a while, yet my phone still hasn't found the update using either OTA or with PC Companion on my laptop.
We don't have the insight to say. Nobody has. And no crystal balls.
4.2.2 has been out for a few days only and is clearly rolling out across the piste.
Just wait patiently or use one of the other Generic ones if you're really that desperate. They're all basically the same apart from minor app differences.
I think Vodafone has released it someone on another forum updated his to 422 via Sony bridge on a Mac.
Never.... (joking)
Considering we were left out of the last few updates wouldn't surprise me if we are the last to get this one.
So I would guess a month

You have a UK unbranded device? Customisation number 1270-7689? Or some other UK device?
Not booting up my PC to find out if this is true or not, as other methods of checking are still showing 434 as the latest available for UK unbranded.
Edit: I see you edited your post. Yes, most are aware that Vodafone have updated

Mines was a VF UK handset upgrade - so branded to them. The phone itself didn't report any system/software upgrades, but as soon as I ran up PCC and plugged it in, PCC kicked off the upgrade.
Just use the Sony original Japanese update it doesn't change the language or anything and everything works out is the official Sony update and u just flash it with a flash tool no wipe of data or anything and u can easily root it with doomlords rooting method. It's a one click root.

Just change to a different generic customization. Some people seem to think that there is something special about UK firmware, but that isn't true at all (except that it seems to get updated last). All customizations contain the same baseband, kernel and core. The only difference is the bundled apps, build.prop and some overlays. I think 'Generic ES' is the best customization to change to. It contains all Sony apps (so you won't lose Video Unlimited or anything), of course it also contains all languages and it seems to get updates first.
Also, please stop asking when an update for a certain customization will be released. Nobody will be able to tell you, so it's completely useless to ask. There are ways enough to check the latest version for your customization. I have a list that I update daily or even multiple times a day, you can also create a browser bookmark to Sony's Firmware Update Server (see same thread) or you can use this web check: http://scavenger.ch/sonyupdate/.
Don't worry, it should come sometime this decade...we might even get the firmware update that everyone else has had for 2 months before 2017...wouldn't that be great?

Instead of waiting weeks/months/ages and complaining, just change to a different firmware customization like everyone else did. What are you scared of? There's always the possibility of changing back to 'Generic UK'.

That doesn't exist. In Japan, the Xperia Z was only available through the carrier NTT DoCoMo, which had a slightly different version with a different model number (SO-02E).
Check this list for the available customizations: [INFO] Latest firmware version per customization (region/branding). For the UK, I would recommend 'Generic ES'.

Downloading the 'Generic TW' FTF and flashing it with Flashtool, or changing your customization number in build.prop and updating with Sony PC Companion will give exactly the same result. 'Generic TW' is the only customization that has been updated for C6602. It also seems to get updates first each time. So I recommend to use that firmware.
I will sell my XZ and buy Galaxy S4 i think, its not about changing customization etc it shows how Sony treat UK customers...

Do you really care so much about the 'Generic UK' customization? It's not like it contains any special features that can't be found in other customizations.

Mine is C5303.. not a 5302.
I only flashed 'Xperia SP (C5303)_12.0.A.1.211_Customized UK 1272-4687 R7A' ftf found in another post here on xda and updated to the 1.257 using SUS. both fw didnt have offline charging.
I haven't flashed any of the 2.245 files at all.
I created my own ftf for Orange 1.257 by previously doing a repair on the original fw and flashed that ftf which brought back offline charging.

Sounds like you've done all the same things as I have! I also made my own ftf of the orange fw as a backup!
Try flashing the Russian. 245 ftf with flashtool, see if that works? If offline charging is broken - it was on mine, then do repair with Sony update service NOT PC companion.
This has worked for me, and sounds like you've the exact same phone.

Ah yes, I meant the 2.245.
Yes, I am on the Generic UK fw now. There seems to be not much difference between it and Orange. (Orange one had a app called 'Orange core services or so).
The dailymotion and Deezer apps are missing (and whatsapp as well I think). Both fw did have all the google stuff. Also McAfee security comes with UK and the uk update to 1.257 brought Box installed as well.
out of topic: does the led notifications work for whatsapp (if your using it)? Seems it didnt work for me. Yet to test Viber.. n facebook.
Yep, orange core services, no idea what that was for,
As for whatsapp, sometimes the led works, sometimes not?! I'm currently on the Russian 245 as the ram management seems a little better, but still not great. I did root it when on the 257 so u could adjust the minfree values to make the ram management better, but it broke nfc.
Sticking with the 245 for now, not rooted, as its just a tad better than the 257 .

I use Lightflow to configure the LED for all the apps' notification.
You may try that. You can set the color, rate of blinking and how you want to dismiss the LED notification.

After a restart the led started to work for the whatsapp and works for facebook and viber too.
Only started to use the phone fully since last night..so hard to say on ram usage etc. Seems bit slower at times than the Xp T though. Also I've started to notice instances of the screen being blurry at times. Have you seen that happen? When the phone it booted up, on lock screen the clock goes blurry and becomes sharp. Then on general usage there are times of blurriness.
Two days ago I purchased the Z1 from a local retailer (Tel Aviv, Israel), not realizing that it was the C6902.
The problem is that its customization version is 1278-3595_R1A (software: 1272-6084_13.1.G.2.257.)
I hadn't realized that .257 cannot be rooted prior to updating to it because the OS prompted me to shortly after I first booted it up, so I was hoping to downgrade to .535, root, and update it to 4.3, and then install a custom ROM.
However, I gather from the thread with all the FTF collections (here) that no customization versions of 1278-3595_R1A exists. Does this meant that I can neither root nor install a custom OS?
(why I figured this is important: here.)
In conclusion, I assume that C9603 will get better and quicker dev support, so should I return my current C9602 and purchase the C9603 online (Ebay) while I still can?
Bonus question: why the hell does the C6902 even exists if it's just the C6903 without the LTE? Better to have it and not use it -- no?
(Note: LTE, or any form of 4G networks, including WiMix, is and will be unavailable here in Israel for the foreseeable future - at least to the general public.)
Thank you.
Just noticed that the title should be "C6903 vs. C6902 + Customization Version". I mistakenly misplaced the two digits in C6903.

No, backup won't work when you change a version of Android (in this case, 4.1 --> 4.3). So look for a backup app on the Play Store. I flashed everything on the ROM, though, I lost all my data (including photos and videos) saved on the internal memory. I think you can prevent that by ticking off the "wipe data" option on Flashtool, I'm not sure.
Even LTE works.
C5306 US owner here. Unlocked (basically any SP owner in the US is unlocked because it is not used by any major carrier). Still no update, even though the Sony Mobile US site for the SP shows that a new firmware has been out since 2/12. To be honest, after hearing all the issues, I don't want to update it until there is another 4.3 firmware update to see if things are fixed. 4.1.2 is working fine for me anyways.
There's a Mexican user telcel branded that actually update to 4.3, I'm Mexican too and I know that the only variant sold by telcel is 5306, because support LTE.... Maybe I'm wrong, but I saw that user in the 'news about 4.3 and 4.4'
Mine is 02 because is unbranded xD...
Also, u can flash a tft, maybe if u flash a C5303 variant u can keep LTE....
Also, PCC backup works even if u change android version, model, etc.
Hello All,
After using using KK in my Z1 for a week, i am very pissed, i did not like it at all, it is very buggy, camera is very laggy, the **** restriction of SD Card with 3rd party apps, the separation of settings and notification in the notification bar, the phone get stuck several times which makes me to hard reset it, the phone get overheat very quickly while using the camera specially while taking pictures in a hot weather which finally will force stop the camera and show the message of high temp while trying to use the camera....
So I am thinking in taking my phone to customer service (but i have no time for that) or downgrading the phone to the last firmware before KK which was very good with no issues...
Please guide me on how to downgrade step by step with the name of tools needed.
P.S. I live in Middle East (Bahrain)
