I don't know what that mean "ordinary action" but if you don't have TA and you did not relocked with TA, your X-Reality is gone forever.

Without TA you lose DRM Keys which are fundamental to make work properly few features on Z1 and one of those is X-Reality, then if you will not have your TA you will never get it work back and restore bootlader. Maybe after do what you did a factory reset will help to clean all the mess and good for you it's working again.

lol, just to make sure you restored TA partition right you can enter the service menu, dial *#*#7378423#*#* then enter Service tests -> security.
if everything apears fine and sais [OK] without some jiberish you're good to go.
I've unlocked and re-locked my boot loader using backupTA
Is there any sort of test I could do to make sure X-Reality is working?
I don't really notice a difference switching it on and off and looking at pictures in my album.
I saw on another thread that apparently you take a very vividly coloured image and take a screenshot with it on and off and apparently you should notice a difference there?

I never so a difference on my Stock Z1 switching on/off X-Reality and pictures uploaded can be tweeked so I will not be bother about X-Rerality at all. X-Reality tweek the image like a standard program so that mean the colors are not real. Loosing that features don't make any difference.

It doesn't matter what kind of pic it is, just go to album, open a pic and take a screenshot with x-reality on and another with x-reality off, then without turning X-reality on, go compare both screenshots and you will see the difference.
For pics most of the time I only see a difference in colors, but when it comes to videos I also see improvement in sharpness.
HD (720p) videos on YouTube look awesome, I even compared it to note 3 and the videos on the Z1 were noticeable sharper.

Dear all,
I really should not post this, but i will do so.
I have unlocked bootloader to install CM 10.2 NIGHTlY. Despite of the so much warnings to backup your TA partition i did NOT backup it, because i thought "I never bought music so i have no DRM keys". Oh boy, was i so wrong to think that DRM keys are not only music related.
However: i was not happy with CM 10.2 and relocked bootloader with flashtool and reverted back to stock wit a FTF file.
For now: everything works fine.
Now my question, i see that my trackid is working fine, it recognizes music, so it works, also i still have the bravia engine option in the menu. So i am missing something here? I'm a lucky bastard who did not lose the DRM keys with unlocking the bootloader? How can i check if my TA partition is intact with all DRM keys?? Also OTA updates are working fine (yeah, of course its saying no update available, only there was 1 walkan app update available and i installed it success)

Drm keys have gone for good then, BE2 won't work on pictures. Track ID works on unlocked bootloader anyway
Edit: of you go into service menu and click on service tests then security down at the bottom you will see the top two are unknown error that is your missing Drm keys

Nope they are gone your Drm keys are generated via your imei number at the time your phone is made, the only way is if you work on the production line of the Xperia Z and specialise in that with the software which is very slim and the imei number would most probably change which is illegal

Backup your TA partition with this tool - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
You can backup everything else with your custom recovery.

After installing CM 10.2. Milestone1 I lost my IMEI on my Sony Xperia Z.
I backed up my user data, but not the system itself...
I read in another thread you have to restore the TA partition to restore the IMEI.
Now, without having a backup, is it possible to restore the TA partition?
And where in the file system is this partition located?
Thanks in advance
I'll keep it simple:
No back up = No restore (NO WAY AROUND IT!)

Your TA is gone for good, matey! I'm truly sorry for you, but there's nothing anyone can do about it.
A word of caution: if you tamper with your TA, you *will* irreversible transform your XZ into a (very stylish) paperwieght.
PS: TA has nothing to do with your IMEI
thats why forums like this exist so you can read everything you need to know before u start playing around.
before i rooted my 1st android i spent more than a week just reading and browsing bout it. now i know what i can do without makin paperweights
cheers
ps if u somehow manage to fry ur phone you might get new one (if unrepairable) but i wouldnt try it

You know, long time ago I used CM on a different phone and all went fine and smooth. Thus I did not expect any problems. Maybe using a CM nightly or Milestone may cause some higher risk... But, I was able to install CM from scratch and get my IMEI back. Sometimes I learn by the hard way, no pain, no gain Oh, I purchased Titanium backup yesterday, lots of people talk about this tool, they say it´s useful

Incorrect. IMEI is stored inside TA partition. Flashing some ROM's may make it seem that it has disappeared, but it is still there. Just flash a stock FTF with Flashtool and it should come back. If not, TA partition may be corrupted, and unless a restore of an unccorrupted one can be achieved, then there is no hope

i am a newbie dealing with Android as I have been BB user for a long time, although I can get around with rooting devices but the problem is that while rooting my Xperia SP while bootloader unlock was allowed but I didn't fully read following thread from beginning (stupid I know although I am an engineer )
now while reading your post someone said something about losing DRM keys and Bravia engine which is now seems very worrying to me and I can see in Settings>Display that Bravia engine is selected but I am not sure now if it really works
maybe it is not working as while receiving calls contact pictures imported from Facebook are blurry all the time, whatever i do to enhance them but they are still blurry
any help to restore Bravia engine and why i should lose it as I am following sony official method of unlocking bootloader

Official or Unofficial, you lose the DRM keys + BE2 on unlocking BL.
Only method is backing up a TA partition BEFORE unlocking... then when you have unlocked and restore the TA partition, the BL gets LOCKED and all DRM+BE2 are back working.
OK I understand but I didn't take backup before unlocking bootloader so I have even lost drm keys forever
but what if I installed custom rom will I get back BE2?
Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
Nope. It will just be a placeholder. You need those drm keys for BE2

Frankly, you dont need to backup your stock rom... just use the backup n restore app to make backup of all important stuff. it will be stored on SD card...
Then do whatever you want... when you want to return, just lock the bootloader, run sony update service and you will be back to stock...
Someone confirm what i wrote above...

I am sorry I forget to thank you, I have already hit thanks button but I have to mention it here @NexusPrime
Hi, there's a big problem with my Z1 and its bootloader/kernel. Well, it seems to be some weird conflict between this two. Although, I don't know where the conflict exactly is in my OS, after installing the "pimp my Z1 app" (running on unlocked bootloader & trinity raptor 1.3 kernel), i noticed, that my cpu wasn't scaling the clock, I mean, it wasn't giving any sign of max speed, even if was set before.
Just throwing back a 'NaN' word instead numbers as usual.
" 24250ghz" for example. And moving the phone only by minimum frequencies.
I'll attach an image to show.
Doesn't matter how many times I relock or unlock my bootloader again. It won't work. Can't use any custom kernel. The first time i unlocked my boot was trough Sony page and all that stuff, but by that time everything was just fine. The problem was after relocking and time after: unlocking again using flashtool, I'm not the only one with this problem, anyone can help us? Thanks devs!

I have a nandroid backup and also a TA backup as well.
I restore my TA partition and relock my boot, but as I said it doesn't matter how many times I do unlock and relock. Same s**t different day.
Is it possible to restore the DRM keys without a backup?
I recently unlocked my Z1, I have not made a backup TA partitions.
As far as I know. It is not possible

NO BACKUP?! You lost your DRM keys forever, plus you cannot restore from another Z1.
What is lost with DRM keys

I'm in the same mess, I remember back when I followed the guide that it basically said "If you're at latest update, you can unlock the bootloader but there's no way to make a backup of your TA." No biggie I thought, I'm not gonna miss the bravia much and I really really wanted to get rid of the bloatware...
Now the newest PS App is also DRM-Locked, and there's no way to make Remote Play work either. Guess i'm gonna buy a Z3 tablet and keep it stock as a reminder of my failure
