My HTC 8S is stuck in Disagnostic mode, which means it doesn't connect as MTP Device but only as HTC Diagnostic Interface, HTC Win Mobile TRace and HTC Nema interface. I switched it to Diag mode using the NativeToastLauncher and Sprint_Diagnostic, and then flashed it, totally forgot to turn Diag off. Now I can't even deploy the Toast Launcher to disable Diag Mode. Has anyone got an idea how to solve this? An answer would be much appreciated.
Install fiddler on your desktop and install it the same way you had originally got it.
@thals1992 Well, the problem is not the Sprint_Diagnostics. I can install that from the store without fiddler. The Problem is getting the Native Toast Launcher onto the phone.

Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue.
After waiting for the VF 2.2 OTA update, it finally arrived yesterday morning. Great. Except now ADB doesn't detect the phone.
Plugging it in, putting it in debug mode etc and going trying ADB devices shows an empty list. Putting the phone in recovery and trying fastboot devices shows it with no problems.
If I plug in my HTC Magic (on 2.1-update1) and my Nexus One, adb shows only the Magic in the device list. ddms also doesn't detect the N1 but does detect the Magic without any problems.
I've tried reinstalling the driver, reinstalling the whole SDK, installing all updates, doing a factory reset on the device and everything else I can think of. Nothing seems to fix this issue. It's been logged in the android bug tracker, but not many people seem to be having the issue. The bug is here: http ://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9437 (sorry had to break it up because I'm not allowed to post links yet)
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with Windows 7, but from searching it seems there have been other issues with W7 and the N1 when using adb.
What I just don't get is that it's only affecting a few people. What could be so different about my N1 that's causing this and not causing it for almost everyone else? It makes no sense to me.
Having the same issue. I put an issue in http: //forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7636799&postcount=129.
Tried ADB with a HTC Legend. No problem. But on my Nexus ONE the ADB don't announce itself on the USB bus.
Just to make sure; USB Debugging is enabled in the phone, right?
Yepp. USB debugging is on.

Hello!
ADB is not listing my Droid 3 when I have it connected. I've tried in various modes (Charge Only, PC Mode, etc..) many many times, rebooting the computer, etc... but nothing seems to make it show up.
I do get the connected thing and the window pops up giving information on the phone (number of voicemails, missed calls, etc...) but ADB doesn't see it.
This is for Windows 7 and I have the latest Motorola drivers installed.
Any ideas? I'd like to root the phone but it just won't show up.
Thanks!

This and it needs to be in "Charge Only," mode.
Additionally, make sure you have the Java SDK installed, correctly.
Better to be overprepared, than brick bieng underprepared. while we have tools to repair certain things, recovering from a total brick isnt possible just yet, so please be careful everyone!
I thought I did have the Java SDK installed but let me double-check. I am sure about the charge only & development mode, though.
I don't believe there was a thread covering this exact issue, if there is I sincerely apologize. AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III Mini SM-G730A
My problem is that my phone will not connect to any computer via USB mass storage, the battery will begin to charge but that is all. I have searched the internet for possible reasons/solutions and I have also contacted Samsung customer service which only lead to the discovery of completely different issue. Of course upon this discovery as coincidence would have it the call with customer service was disconnected. The lady had told me to boot the phone, take the battery out, and boot into recovery mode. Once there she instructed that I choose the option to wipe the cache partition, when I selected this option it said it was clearing the partition then gave me an "ERROR" message, shut down, and rebooted the phone. Basically, to get to the point, I wanted to root the phone and this problem is somewhat a hindrance. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Also I don't know if this needed or would help but I have tried connecting it to computers running Win XP Home Service Pack 2, Win Vista, Win 7 Home Edition, and on my laptop which is the one I would be using if fixed it's running Ubuntu Saucy 13.10. I also used the original cable that came with the phone I bought it brand new. Thanks again.
Possible reason of your problem

Your problem if you still hve it is that the usb port is damaged, normally when they get damaged they can still charge the phone but will not be recogniced by the pc, so you would not be able to rooted, or transfer any file to it, .
Solution is to change the usb port. Hopefully you can fix your issue, Greetings.
Try enabling / disabling usb debugging, maybe that will help. You'll need to go to 'about phone' in settings then tap on the version number 10 times to enable developer options, then you can enable usb debugging.
Hi all!
Today I have a big challenge!
I want to retrieve the data (messages, images, files) from my Mate S because the touch screen has stopped working.
Life is never easy! Here there are some additional problems:
- Main problem: the touch screen doesn't work.
- Developer options are disabled. (Debug USB is disabled).
- I don't have any type of remote control/backup app installed.
- The phone is not rooted.
- The bootloader is locked.
This is a nightmare, I know.
The good news is that I can unlock the phone using the fingerprint! :good:
Does anyone have an idea of how to do that?
Thank you all!!
Same problem
I have the same problem, touch screen doesn't work and phone il locked. I found a possible solution but I can't obtain product ID so do someone now a way to obtain it withuot using touchscreen? Thanks.
Plug in the mouse and try to guess how to enable usb debugging. it helps if you find someone with the same phone (working screen) to follow. once you enable it there are million apps to duplicate your screen to your pc monitor.
Hey guys,
Im using companys Bring Your Own Device service.
One thing whichbis not possible here is, the using of USB Debugging Mode.
Cant even activate it.
The service runs with [email protected] and installs a extra playstore, chrome and several company app.
Anyone here familiar with such services and an idea how to activate debugging mode?
Cheers
