[Q] Sound Quality? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Is there a ROM that has better sound quality in-call than stock? Everyone keeps telling me I sound awful.
I like the AOSP look, so I tried De-Sensed and Virtuous Inquisition, but they sound like crap. And everyone knows about CM's in-call problems.

You could give WildChild's modded stock sense rom a try. Google "WCXXPERIA", it's located in those forums now.

I am willing to bet you have a case on your phone...
Take the case off and see if the problem persists...
On stock... The noise canceling mic gives all kinds of problems... Or at least it did for me

I actually don't have a case, but I can assure you if I did, I would have tried that already.

Then maybe try kozmikkernel or faux kernel?

Deep Bass on & off - Help Appreciated

Hey folks
Recently, I experienced the most fantastic audio quality, mostly from very deep, rich bass levels. But I ROM-hopped back and forth, and that superb bass has yet to show itself again. I tried applying the Beats Audio patch through Carbon Tweaks, which helped a little, but it's nowhere near where it was. So many people talk **** about Beats by Dre, but what I experienced with these Beats Tour in-ears would match many over-ears. So I'm wondering how to get that rich bass back? I have my Equalizer app's custom settings saved, ready to shine. Is this kernel based? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
My ROM is PA0.5 rocking the hybrid Goku 1.5-10 kernel

What was the rom you were on when you experienced deep bass?

It was the same ROM but with the latest CM9 stable kernel, which is why I suspect it to be a kernel issue.
Anyone?

I doubt it's kernel related, usually rom.

Hmm.. weird.
Hey, it's back now! I have great, deep, fatty overear-style headphones bass again in my Dre Tours! After effin' around with a CM10 based ROM and coming back to an old, more stable CM9 based nandroid backuped ROM. In fact, it's the exact same ROM / kernel I was on when I posted this thread. Wish I knew which switch to flip for the next time I lose this great bass. :-/

Glad it's back? So you're back on pa 0.5?
There's the equaliser dsp manager in pa, have a look and see if anything is set, perhaps that's where the extra tubes are pumping from.

Oh yeah, I'm absolutely stoked! I celebrated with some Massive Attack. Sounds brilliant! I checked through DSP and everything is off / disabled.

1.29 affecting volume?

*small rant, question's in bold*
Forreal tho I'm on jellybean 4.1.2 build version 1.26.502.10 and boomsound is loud as hell.
I been playing around with custom kernels and roms and noticed that the newest update (build 1.29) reduces the max volume noticeably.
..Reading around the forums confirmed this also.
For comparison, 1 click up from mute on 1.26= 3 clicks up from mute on 1.29
Has anybody figured out what the changes are that HTC implemented that causes this?
I read another post somewhere in the elementalx forum that HTC said these speakers are capable of 93db! So why can't be have that?
Hell one of the main reasons why I got this phone was because of the amplified dual stereo speakers, if I want to blow them then let me but best be assured I'm gonna be jamming until they go.
I hope there's some dev out there working on making this phone's speakers reach their limits for us. I'm gonna be staying on 1.26 for awhile and enjoy my loud volume. I'll be definitely keeping a backup saved in case I decided one day that some rom's tweaks and stuff is a better tradeoff than louder volume.
*end rant* But seriously tho.. Can I haz even louder volume plox? Lol
This is a kernel issue already addressed due to released source not being complete. Hopefully will be fixed soon!!

Hopefully! And here's to hoping that a dev 1ups HTC and creates a tweak that unleashes the amped speaker's full potential!

Low volume after updating to 4.2.2

Hello there
I have noticed that the speakers are now a lot quieter ever since I updated from the stock 4.1.2 to custom ROMs based on 4.2.2, specifically Android Revolution HD 10.2/10.3 as well as Trickdroid 7.5.0. I have tested the volume levels on both, and they are definitely much quieter than the volume was on 4.1.2. Is there a reason for that? I also checked on "PureX Audio" mod in AROMA installer on both custom ROMs in order to see if it makes a difference but I did not feel that it did, I could be wrong, though.
I am sure I read before that it is quieter on 4.2.2 and that there was a fix for it.
Thanks

I'm also facing the same problem.
Lower volume while using earphones.
The volume of the speaker is also lower during phone conversations.
I asked dis the ova day lol its because htc lowered volume levels on the update they must of felt they needed to tone it down

I have just downloaded update on stock and my volume is a lot quieter which is really annoying didn't warn you about that before updating the twats.

Volume sounds about the same to me, maybe a bit lower. Had AT&T 1.26 before flashing to unbranded 2.24. I know it was definately lower when the kernel source wasn't updated and devs had to use a hack to enable the in call speaker, which made the volume lower.
Is there a way to downgrade from 4.2 back to 4.1?
The newest version of volume+ on their site [beta I think] works with 4.2 to increase volume

Careful, I think HTC lowered it on purpose because they are having issues with blown speakers. Mine blew and I had to get a replacement phone from ATT. The tech said he's replaced many for the issue.

I'm on my 3rd (2nd replacement.) HTC One from Tmobile. Blown speakers all of them. This one is going too. Just not bad enough for me to go through the return hassle yet. I was not surprised to find this thread. I stayed stock, but i expect when tmo gets to 4.3, they'll have lowered the volume. So much for "Boomsound"!
ı dont hear anythıng when i use with headset. Sounds too low while listening music. You cant make call with headset because you dont hear other side. How can i find solution.
4.3 will be come at least 2 - 3 months later. And i think htc wont increase it.
boom sound is only reason to buy htc one. Now htc lowered up.

[Q] Sound mods for M7 and the sound volue

Hi guys,
I measured my HTC One sound volume and I alway reach up to 80dB (with this : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kr.sira.sound&hl=en )
However, I saw people here report for 110dB (!)...
It is possible with using a sound mod?
Can someone recommand me for good sound mod and match ROM/Kernel?
Thanks!

In terms of sound mods there is Viper4Android or PureXAudio. Both are very good but I prefer PureXaudio myself.
As for a Rom to recommend this is a touchy subject as mods don't like when people ask as it's all down to preference. I need to have a rom with theming and tweaks so I go with ViperOne which is very stable, smooth and good battery life. You can still use ViperOne for a stock look but you will have all them extras which aren't needed so instead you would want something like Android Revolution HD (also an excellent Rom and the first one off the top of my head). What I recommend you do is download a bunch you like the look of and flash them all and test each for a day or so.
EDIT: Kernel is all down to preference as well. I'm currently using the ViperOne stock kernal but I have used both Bulletproof and ElementalX in the past. Again, download a bunch and test. They all have their pros and cons.
Hope this helped

[Q] Aosp audio quality

Tried a couple of aosp based roms, namely aokp and cm11s and I've found the audio quality through the speaker to be far worse than with a Sense rom. It's tinny and much quieter.
Had this issue on my old One X plus and it was down to driver availability or lack of back in the day. Is this still the same situation with the One aosp based roms, driver issues causing the tinny and quiet sound through the speaker?
Thanks.

basically yes ... if you want to enjoy the full boomsound experience your going to need Sense
Any proven mods out there that might improve the volume/quality of the audio for aosp based roms, even just a little?
Thanks.

You could try Viper which alot of people use. I use Volume+ to increase the volume. Both work on every rom I have ever used.
Is that Viper4Android from the market?

I think they have it on the play store but I just use the thread here on XDA as it is a better source for updated apks and info.
