Tried a couple of aosp based roms, namely aokp and cm11s and I've found the audio quality through the speaker to be far worse than with a Sense rom. It's tinny and much quieter.
Had this issue on my old One X plus and it was down to driver availability or lack of back in the day. Is this still the same situation with the One aosp based roms, driver issues causing the tinny and quiet sound through the speaker?
Thanks.

basically yes ... if you want to enjoy the full boomsound experience your going to need Sense
Any proven mods out there that might improve the volume/quality of the audio for aosp based roms, even just a little?
Thanks.

You could try Viper which alot of people use. I use Volume+ to increase the volume. Both work on every rom I have ever used.
Is that Viper4Android from the market?

Hey folks
Recently, I experienced the most fantastic audio quality, mostly from very deep, rich bass levels. But I ROM-hopped back and forth, and that superb bass has yet to show itself again. I tried applying the Beats Audio patch through Carbon Tweaks, which helped a little, but it's nowhere near where it was. So many people talk **** about Beats by Dre, but what I experienced with these Beats Tour in-ears would match many over-ears. So I'm wondering how to get that rich bass back? I have my Equalizer app's custom settings saved, ready to shine. Is this kernel based? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
My ROM is PA0.5 rocking the hybrid Goku 1.5-10 kernel

What was the rom you were on when you experienced deep bass?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
It was the same ROM but with the latest CM9 stable kernel, which is why I suspect it to be a kernel issue.
Anyone?

I doubt it's kernel related, usually rom.

Hmm.. weird.
Hey, it's back now! I have great, deep, fatty overear-style headphones bass again in my Dre Tours! After effin' around with a CM10 based ROM and coming back to an old, more stable CM9 based nandroid backuped ROM. In fact, it's the exact same ROM / kernel I was on when I posted this thread. Wish I knew which switch to flip for the next time I lose this great bass. :-/

Glad it's back? So you're back on pa 0.5?
There's the equaliser dsp manager in pa, have a look and see if anything is set, perhaps that's where the extra tubes are pumping from.

So i want to mod my sister's touchpad. But IDK which CM is the most stable. Any suggestion?

I use the official cm9 nightlies with hardly any problems.
I prefer CM over MIUI, but that's me. There are many who like it the other way around.

what's the difference between nightlies and alpha?
Also, is this consider "stable" or more like beta/alpha?

The nightlies are published between the alpha releases. The alphas are supposed to be more stable, but at this point I feel that the nightlies are just as stable. The CM9 alphas have wifi problems, which have been fixed in the latest CM9 nightlies.
CM 7.2 should be about as stable as you get. I have never used them, though, since CM9 is so stable.
consider the cm9 alpha obsolete for about 6 months. the cm9 nightly is still being updated to this day.

No ROM has a working camera for the Touchpad.
EDIT: for ICS. My bad.
Both CM7 & CM9 seems to be stable enough. If you need camera, I heard that it's works on CM7.
thx for your help.
2 more questions but slightly off topic:
Did you guys calibrate the battery on ur touchpad?
I heard there's Beats Audio on the touchpad for WebOS. did you guys install something like this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525226 . Does this mean that Beats Audio is nothing more than software and not hardware?

Google developers have said that the effectiveness of battery calibration is a myth.
Beats Audio is just software; it's an equalizer. You can install Beats on the Touchpad with a mod. I don't know about the one you linked, but I tried out a mod of DSPManager that used Beats. (Was not impressed.)

For some reason, some game's tilt control is totally messed up (even if i calibrate it with the ingame option). Is this one of the Known bugs of CM 9 nightly?

So the cm9 night lies are the best from the current bunch. But I'm still using the last OaT LnT build. If you can find it, its superb. Just seen a post that he might come back soon to include the new camera drivers being developed and tested so I'd highly recommend using them asap

K i tried the mod form that link out. Wasn't impressed too. I wasn't impressed with Beats Audio in WebOS too, for most songs, it added a very small amount of bass. for rock songs, it made the guitar a little bit more clear.
Mods, u can close this thread if you want to as the question have been solved.
Actually 2 questions here about Beats Audio on the HTC One:
1. With respect to the phone itself (not the earphones) is Beats Audio purely software or is there also a hardware component to Beats (sound processor in the phone)?
2. Does putting a custom ROM on an HTC One mean you are giving up the benefits of Beats Audio? ie: custom ROMs don't take advantage of special hardware features, or from a software perspective you lose Beats software functionality...
(some may argue that there are any benefits to Beats Audio so maybe my questions are moot)
1) It's a software mod with a good hardware
2) If you will use a custom htc sense based you will have Beats.
It you will flash an aosp based you will lose beats, boomsound, zoe and other

so it sounds like i'll lose just the software mods. sad...i love the native ui, and really dislike sense. hopefully soon, there will be patches i can apply to my rom to get back the good software.
anyone know of any works in progress regarding this?

I think is impossible see boomsound, zoe and other one function on aosp based rom.
But someone can work on here...
Is there a ROM that has better sound quality in-call than stock? Everyone keeps telling me I sound awful.
I like the AOSP look, so I tried De-Sensed and Virtuous Inquisition, but they sound like crap. And everyone knows about CM's in-call problems.

You could give WildChild's modded stock sense rom a try. Google "WCXXPERIA", it's located in those forums now.
I am willing to bet you have a case on your phone...
Take the case off and see if the problem persists...
On stock... The noise canceling mic gives all kinds of problems... Or at least it did for me

I actually don't have a case, but I can assure you if I did, I would have tried that already.

Yeah, I get that, but Mi Max 2 has that anyways, it's not a "feature". So that's why I asked, maybe it's something different.

it does have that, but its not a feature that is supported on all custom roms so just because stock MIUI roms have that functionality, it doesn´t mean that any custom rom out there is able to make it work properly

Well, I didn't prove anything, just sayin' it isn't a feature because 90% of the ROM's have it. Also, it isn't a feature and innovation because it's a standard thing when you buy a phone! So it's nothing that shouldn't be already there when the ROM is compiled.

Yes, but the audio quality on our device will be different from the other ROMs (may be better). From the earliest days, ROMs which are based on Xperia device's source code always known for their best audio (and video) quality. The XPerience project is following this ideology.
Many thanks for OP's work to bringing us this project :highfive:

Hopefully yes! But the main problem is in the source! Audio on Oreo-based ROMs is really bad compared to Nougat-based ROMs.

lol following ur logic it should never be mentioned when a rom has all the functions of stock rom, because there wouldnt be any "innovation". sounds like a typical demanding xda user who doesnt have a clue how difficult and time consuming it is to come up with a functioning custom rom always demanding, always complaining, always impatient
at least some others still appreciate the work @romeo_coi @ekin_strops

AFAIK, this project is not only based on AOSP but also CAF, and Sony (has been opened its devices source code), so we can all hope for an improvement in the audio quality
I'm using some mods for audio, in general use with Oreo ROMs, I haven't faced seriously audio problems yet (incoming call sound excepted), even with Poweramp, High-res outputs are working well for music experience

We all have different opinions I guess! Umm, nobody is complaining, nobody is demanding here anything! "Typical demanding xda user" is also developing some stuff, "fixing", etc, for example, I was the one who fixed fingerprint on AEX ROM on MM2. So, never go full accuse mode if you don't know the person.

Yeah, the output on 3.5mm jack was always fine, especially with some sound mods! What I meant is the speaker! Speaker output on Oreo-based ROMs is not even close to Miui or Nougat based ROMs.
