JM1/JM2 is quite old.
This firmware JM1 has been released officially about 1 month ago.
There are also some solutions for updating with KIES and the error that occurs.

What version of Kies do you have?
There have been some problems reporting crashing of MSC.Thunder.FirmwareUpdate in version 1.5.3.10093.80 I think.
Try updating Kies via menu > update.

True, this could solve the problem.
If that doesnt work, i suppose you have to try the Firmware Update with an older version of KIES. Or just just ODIN

Hmmm, Kies is a very delicate piece of sw...
Try uninstalling Kies, reboot your pc, and download latest version available (10093.80) and install again.
Maybe it will help.
edit:
or like it was said, try with some older versions (http://www.samfirmware.com/samsungkies.htm)
try to add this in your registry, it should fix your issue, it works on me.

I also had that error everytime when I tried firmware update with Kies. I have Windows 7 x64.
For me solutions was to run C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Kies\MSC.Thunder.FirmwareUpdate.exe directly without launching Kies at all. Make sure you don't have Kies agent running on Notification area.
I also did set MSC.Thunder.FirmwareUpdate.exe to be run as administrator and also put Vista compability mode on. Then I could do update just fine.
After these changes if you start firmware update within Kies it says phone not connected. Just take compability mode and run as administrator off and it works again. But of course you get your original error message back, but maybe someday we get working Kies..
Hope this helps.

It was just released for Norway, so I guess for a lot of people this is still "new".
Thread moved to Q&A.
Hi All,
I have a little problem when I'm trying to update to the last version of the Xperia Z. When I try directly on the phone everything going fine , he download the update, reboot and next I see a progression bar but arrived to the half , he stop and reboot the phone and I see the error that the update failed.
Next I've try to do the update with the PC Coompanion but impossible to arrive to the recovery mode of PC Companion
Any Idea?

I accidentally posted this in HTC wrong section. There I found out this to be a Sprint one.
Hey guys.
I am back. After a long time. U guys helped to fix my HTC orbit.
Now I got another one. It's got no OS when I got it.
I am posting some pictures for better presentation.
Front
Back
The issue I have is seen below.
Closeup
All I can get to from the phone is what you see in the picture.
I need a good ROM for this.
Please advice what I should do.
Thanks
It appears to be a Sprint One
You can fix it by running the RUU found HERE
thnx bigdaddy619.
Are u sure it would do the trick.
I believe I have to update thru sync manager.
I downloaded the HTC sync manager and and tried to see if it detects the phone.
I don't think it does cause I do not see my phone android version or sense version or anything in sync manager.
I can see the Android USB Device in the device manager. I believe the USB drivers are installed. The phone changes to FASTBOOT USB when I connect the USB cable. Means the phone enters FASTBOOT automatically.
Do I still go about download the RUU ROM from HTC and try it?
The HTC sync app says it cannot find device

search a little dude, that problem has been solved a hundred times in the sprint forum
It worked. Changed some settings.
Now another problem.... Installed TWRP and restarted. Now back to square one. Same as before.
But it does boot to TWRP but not to OS.
Update gives an unknown error 115.
So removed TWRP. Now it is stuck in HTC logo with white background not black original boot logo. It won't turn off. So had to let the battery go down to shutdown. Now charging. Will try the original ROM again and post back.
sorry
Bummer

It's probably hw problem. If you still have warranty take it to the repair center.
What if you flash the last rom where it did work.
Hello,
One week ago, I was using my phone as usual when suddenly froze and I pulled the battery, then I was stuck in boot loop so I decided to go into download mode and reflash it, but I accidentally flashed H811N instead of H811H , now my phone is hard bricked !! " No charging / No download mode / Nothing at all " , is there any way to fix it ?
Thanks
There's a fix a couple posts down. Have you tried that yet?

Yes I tried but I got some errors ! I don't know why, I think it might be because of I did not find a stock dump (img) of H81110H ?
What errors did you get? Which build did you use?
Also, try this. It doesn't look like he has the system.img available, but you could always try to pull it out of the kdz. There's some directions online.

Were you able to try the files I gave you there?
And do you know which error it gave you? You might want to try to fastboot a recovery (put a recovery in the same folder as your adb and fastboot, name it recovery.img, run command "fastboot boot recovery.img", then installing a rom from the recovery), although I haven't tried his method yet so I am not sure if that is even possible.

I actually the error was about flashing a different version then I tried for another time gave an error of different size of firmware.
When I try to connect the phone to my computer, it appeares as "qhsusb_bulk" and doesn't recognize the phone.
Now I can't turn it on or charge it, or even getting to download mode ! ??
Try using the Google Android adb drivers. Keep trying different USB ports until it works.

Something similar happened on my G2 at one point, so everything I'm saying is going off that.
Firstly, what was the situation of your phone prior to this? Was it rooted? Did it tend to overheat? What are the first three numbers on your serial number?

Well I did a really strange thing, in which I put my phone in the freezer, and I got into the download mode again. When I start to flash the KDZ file, I got an error " Erro Code = 0x2000, TOT antirollback version is smaller than device version. " , any ideas how can I solve it ?
