Need framily members for Sprint please - Off-topic

I just set up a Framily plan on Sprint.
I currently have 2 lines under the ID, with each additional line it drops the monthly fee by $5.00 for Unlimited Talk and Text + 1GB data. (Optionally you can add extra data if you want on your own plan)
So right now I am paying $50/month,
with 1 more person it drops to $45 / month for everyone, all the way down to $25/month for each line once we get 7 members in the framily
This does not tie your account to mine in any way other than for the discounted service price.
If you are interested, please use my framily ID of : D00137466Ah (Case Sensitive)
https://now.sprint.com/framily/ (Link for details)

Try posting here buddy.

What AT&T data plan?

I'm a new AT&T subscriber. When I signed up, I accidentally signed up for the $39.99 Media Max Unlimited. I'm not sure why I signed up for it, maybe it was required? Well, after making a call yesterday, the CS rep put me on the $29.99 Blackberry Unlimited plan. I don't do any sort of text messaging...maybe 5 a month if that, thus the reason for the change. Is the Blackberry plan ok? Am I going to get hit with a bunch of data charges at the end of this month? Is there a better plan?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm new to all these AT&T plans (ex-Sprint customer here).
Thanks!
If you have a PDA you are supposed to be on the PDA plan, $39.99. Now that doesn't mean that you will get caught being on the wrong plan, I am amazed that with the Tilt you were able to get the phone rep to lower your plan. Do you have a Tilt or the Kaiser?
I may be wrong but I remember reading some fine print on this:
Mail in rebates, $100, you will not get these anymore if you do not stay with the $39.99 or higher data plan
Discount of $150 instant will be reduced with out the correct data plan. It will show up on your next bill.
If you are trying to save some cash and cut corners(bascially not follow correct policy) and risk losing money stick with what you have. If you want to be correct you need to have the $39.99 plan.
This is what I read, please correct me if I am wrong so I can change my plan.

Hmm. Thanks for the clarification. I'll have to wait and see. I have the Tilt, and I have a business discount with them (I had no rebates - $200 Company Discount, and a $400 Web Discount). I went back through the purchase screens (as if I were a new customer buying through my corporate discount page), and neither the plan she switched me from nor the one she switched me to exist. What's weird is, I don't even see the MediaNet Unlimited plan that was on my phone. All that's listed are business data plans (with multiple options under each section not listed below) :
DataConnect Add-On
PDA Enterprise with Cellular Video Add-On
PDA Enterprise Tethering Add-On
PDA Enterprise for BlackBerry Connect Add On
I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens with my first bill.
if you have the $39.99 plan you qualify for the rebates even if you purchased your phone through the business section. So you can print them out and mail them in. There should be 2 $50 rebates.
I am not 100% on how the business plans work for you. I know for my I get a % off my bill but when they quote me rates they always use the full price and I don't see any discounts until I get my bill.

At $10 savings per month, I'll gamble and see if I can swing the 29.99 plan. An additional $100 off the price of the phone would sure be nice though!
i am sure you will be fine if you got them to switch it for you. Especially since you got the phone through business.
Just don't contact ATT for service or support, thats how mine got switched to the 40 dollar plan.

Actually it says:
"Requires activation on a PDA Personal Plan or a $39.99 or higher unlimited data rate plan plus an AT&T Voice Plan of $39.99 or higher"
So it can be a PDA Personal for $29.99 but it has a 20Mb per month limit.
look the easy fix is this...stay on the PDA connect plan until you get the notice from att that the rebate has been processed and is on its way back to you, then dump it. Problem solved

did you read the whole post? He isn't on the 29.99 PDA personal. He is on the 29.99 unlimited blackberry plan.

So what? He can switch to the PDA Personal and still pay only $29.99!
Hey Guys, what is the Big Deal, see at&t don't waste their time or money on tracking who is using what, at the time of rebate, I am not sure they even look it up in the computer, they will check what you sent them, the form etc and just quick look, upload it to their database and they will send you a check. as for Internet, don't even touch it, it is saving you 10 dollar a month, don't know if its any money, but if you are a finance person you would know its alot.

The rebate processing agencies and AT&T make money off people that don't qualify for the rebates. That's why they really do the due diligence on paperwork. I once had a rebate rejected because I switched plans, and the rebate was of course processed much later after I sent it in. Everyone should pay attention to the fine print when it comes to rebates.
I was scrounging by on the media net 5/mb w/ limited texting for 20/mo while using an Audiovox SMT5600. I upped to the $40/mo PDA plan the day before my Kaiser arrived. Sure, I'd like to pay less, but it is what it is and I want the service. I've got a laptop for tethering when needed too. I’m not locked in to my voice or data plan however and that's how I want to keep it.
Im still on media max`
Im still on my media max plan for 19.99 that I had with my last "smartphone" works just fine. have had that plan for about 2 months now. I also did not risk sending in for the rebates since that would cost me more in the future if i had to switch plans.

About to purchase: any deals to be had on the Tilt?

All,
Looks like I missed out on the 50% off deal (posted here). I'm interested in a Tilt, but the $100 Premier website rebate won't apply since I'm not getting a data plan.
Is there a better deal than the AT&T premier site @ $399 that doesn't require a data plan?
Thanks!
-Brett.
PS - Mods/admins: if this is off topic I apologize. Feel free to remove/lock. I guessed that this was the right forum to post this in.
I got mine from Newegg. Two-year re-up (I was out of contract) but no data plan required. $150 after mail-in.

Thanks for the heads-up... but I forgot to mention: I'm in need of a family plan 9two phones for my wife and I) and Newegg doesn't currently offer anything other than single line plans.
Tried Amazon but they don't even seem to give the option to buy the Tilt w/o a data plan.
Thanks,
-Brett.
I got mine for $149.95 after all the rebates, going through Costco.com. But the phone came from AT&T. I have the family plan, and the AT&T site within Costco page will check your entitlement to receive the phone. you must sign for the 2Yr program. No data plan suggested, however I have it.
When I go through the costco site, it brings me to the att costco site. there is a mail in rebate there for 100 on the tilt, but theres a plus next to it that says it requires a PDA personal plan, an unlimited data plan, or a 19.99 or higher messaging plan. Are there any mail in rebates around that DON'T require a data plan of some type?
I just got mine for $249 without data plan from Letstalk.com. Family plan and no data service required. Let me know and I can refer you and you get $25 off.
Pretty good price - straight up
I've ordered mine from CDW. They are in Chicago, IL. The college where I work get most of our computer stuff from there and they're great folks to deal with.
If you go to their website http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1325326 you'll find it under the 8925. It says CALL for the price, but if you will call them you'll get it for no more than $469.00 I'm actually getting mine for $427 but that's cause of government discount. You might could get it for that or something close. These are brand new unlocked AT&T Tilts. I've done a good bit of research and this is absolutely the cheapest I've found with no strings attached from someone you can trust. Good luck.

Thanks for the Costco tip, I'm a member but it never occurred to me to check there. They have the phone by itself for the same price as the AT&T premier store ($399) and they also listed a "package" consisting of Bluetooth headset - Motorola H700, Car Charger - AT&T/Cingular, Black Leather Case - AT&T/Palm Treo which was priced as follows:
Package Price $559.96
Online Discount - $129.97
Mail-in Rebate Card - $30.00
Mail-in Rebate Card - $100.00
Package Savings $259.97
Online Price* $299.99
Free Bluetooth, charger and case
*2 yr contract-New service price
However, the $100 rebate was contingent on a data plan, and I couldn't find a way to add this package to a family plan, only to an individual plan. Plus the monthly rates were no cheaper through Costco. I can get an approx 17% discount through the AT&T Premier site so it looks like that's the way to go for me.
If anyone knows of a way to get the above "package" through Costco on a family plan w/o a data add-on.... please clue me in!
Thanks,
-Brett.
Since you are doing the family plan, you can add on Family Unlimited messaging for $24 per month. This will cover what is required to meet the rebate. Nothing in the rebate indicates you have to keep this for any length of time, so after you get the rebate then drop the messaging part of the plan. So that gets you the phone for $399 less $100 for the rebate, and will cost you about $50 more (if the rebate truely comes in 8 weeks).
Since I have teenagers, I'm on the unlimited messaging family plan anyway (and then have the $20 unlimited MediaNet (whatever they call it now)).

Hey, that's a good idea. I think a variation of it might work, since the Family Messaging Unlimited is showing as $30/mo for me.
The requirement is "+Requires activation on a PDA Personal Plan or a $39.99 or higher unlimited data rate plan or a $19.99 or higher messaging plan plus an AT&T Voice Plan of $39.99 or higher."
We were already planning on adding the $5 "Messaging starter" add-on to both lines ($10/mo) since we don't do much messaging. If I add the "Messaging unlimited" option to the Tilt for $19.99/mo it would satisfy the rebate req's, and only cost me $15/mo over what I was already planning. Keep that for 2-3 months to obtain the rebate then drop back to the $5 plan... and I'm out $30 for a net of $70 savings on the rebate.
Good thinking, thanks!
-Brett.
PS - Currently using your Rev 3 ROM on my 8125 and loving it. Still can't get IBM Easysync installed, but I'm keeping my eyes out for a version that's compatible with WM6.

Can you still get the monthly rate discount even if you do not sign-up through ATT? Looking at the website for my school (Ga Tech), there is an option for existing customers to sign-up for discounts using the online validation process.

Sorry, no idea. I'm using the AT&T "Premier" site through my employer.
-Brett.
So does anyone know if one could talk NewEgg or Costco into a sale? I currently have til 5/6/08 for an upgrade (still in 2yr contract). I got the "OK" from both the AT&T store for the phone (they wanted $299+Accessory pack of $100, w/ renewed 2yr) and AT&T's phone support (they wanted just $299+2yr renewal agreement).
Are these retail outlets less inclined? Or can they still do the same checks (I qualified early because of a broken-out-of-production/warranty phone and good credit)?
Anyone had success with something like that?
Where can I buy the Tilt 8900 (no cameras) without any plan?
I live abroad, so any plan would be useless.
Thank you.
An update in case anyone cares. I ended up going directly through the AT&T store where they matched the pricing from their "Premier" web site. Ended up getting it for $399 out the door with a $100 rebate. (Thanks to mfrazzz's tip about the messaging plan)
I am now a very happy member of the "Tilt" community. I'm considering flashing it to a different ROM but for now I'm just enjoying it.
Thanks,
-Brett.

Cool! Yeah, I'm loving my Tilt too. I've flashed the newer 1.60 AT&T stock rom, but haven't went to a custom yet (but probably will before the week is out).
Have to say, for me, so far the stock rom is pretty reliable (much better than the old stock roms for the Wizard... LOL).
Mfrazzz, when i had my wizard your roms were awsome...
U should start making so roms

Thanks... I've already downloaded the kitchen and a few custom roms to pull apart and look at. Give me some time to look at how things work in this new world for me. Haven't even had my Tilt a week yet, but I'm already thinking about a custom rom for me (and will probably release if its very different from whats already available.
Hi, just a thought (and this comes from a few years of phone buying!)
Just check if the phone you get on a cheap rate is not one of the carriers 'old basic' units.
You can see from this forum that updates are available, and from quite a few that they are discontented with carrier versions in the US.
What makes you think that a cheap option will give you the best phone?
Just hoping to help.

Is AT&T PDA Personal – Unlimited data mandatory and for how long...?

Greetings:
Is PDA Personal – Unlimited data mandatory to get this phone at a reasonable price ($99)? If so, how long do I have to keep this plan? I never use internet on a cell phone; however, as a trade off I am willing to keep the Data plan for a shortest period of time if at all possible.
My purchase plan for AT&T Tilt would be as follow:
- AT&T 2-year Contract (One-time activation fees apply: first new line of service, $36; each new additional line, $26; contract extension, $18.)
- Transfer old number
- AT&T FamilyTalk Nation 550 Rollover Minutes Unlimited $59.99
- PDA Personal – Unlimited data $30.00 for a shortest period of time if at all possible.
Per this conditional $250 discount from Amazon, I am allow to make change to the account after 6 month of contract. Am I reading this regulation correctly?
Any advice or additional comments is greatly appreciated.
-------------------------------------
Conditional $250 Discount
The Price listed above for this phone includes an instant $250 discount from Amazon.com. You agree to repay this $250 discount to Amazon.com if, during the six-month period following the activation date or renewal date of your existing contract, you: (1) fail to pay your balance due each month on time; (2) fail to maintain your account in good standing; (3) disconnect the line of service; (4) transfer the phone to another line of service; (5) change your service rate plan, including canceling or removing required PDA, BlackBerry, or smartphone features after your product has shipped; or (6) use this line of service to replace an existing account with the carrier. The discount is available only if you are activating a new non-substitute line of service or extending an existing line of service. If you do not follow these rules, you authorize Amazon.com to charge your credit card $250 as reimbursement of the discount without need for further approval. Third-party resellers are prohibited from purchasing cell phones on behalf of customers. **Purchase limit five (5) single-line accounts per household.**
----------------------------------
Read contract term (5)
Data plan
If you purchased the phone from a store the data plan needs to be there until you get your rebates.
If you purchased online from like wirefly, they have a dual contract which is ussually 6 mos.
So, after rebates or 6 mos., depending on where you purchased.
After that call 611, or customer service @ 18003310500, and tell them to change your IMEI to all 1's and remove your pda packkage and add unlimited media net for 15 dollars.
I am an ATT retail representative and as long as the phone is hidden from imei, then you can do what you want, it will not extend your contract like other companies.
mayad79:
Thank you much for your advice.
If AT&T customer service put all 1's into the IMEI, does this mean that the phone will be hidden from IMEI? If so, are they willing to do it easily?
Can I just simply cancel the PDA package without adding anything? Or is there any other plan that is cheaper ($5~$10) than Media net which I will never going to use? I just want to use the phone as a regular phone and GPS device.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Ok, First. To get your rebate you have to have the feature for 6 months.
second. NO att rep will change your imei number to all 1's its not possible.
so if you dont care about your rebate, then cancel your feature and change it to media net. if you bought if from a authorized retailer then they have what is called a dealer agreement with them and you. and they could charge you the difference you paid for the phone and the full retail price, since that is how they make there money.
Another thing, as long as you bought the phone from att. I.E. its branded at&t then they will always know what device you are using. it does not matter what you have cust care change your imei to. They just have better things to do than look to see if the millions of customers are using the right features.

Per your posting, I will be able to cancel the data service plan after receiving my rebate and after 6 month of service without paying any penalty or additional fee. Am I understand correctly?

You can cancel the data plan whenever you want. But to get the rebates you have to play the rules.
had data plan removed without penalty
So my situation may be a rare case...
11 months ago I got my ATT tilt w/ family plan including the data plan as required for the rebate... ATT somehow didn't activate my data plan when i received the phone, as well as some other issues with rate charges that which didn't add up. The rate charges were corrected when I called in, but the data plan issue was left unsolved, they told me to contact amazon.
I asked amazon why this happened & why the data plan wasn't included... they said i have to activate it after i relieved the plan, repeating the same disclaimer nonsense as the website. I know this isn't the norm because previous experience by friends stated that amazon automatically stacks on the plan at time of purchase.
Long story short, 7 months go by & i did not get slapped with a $250 penalty, so I really don't know how serious Amazon in following disclaimer #5...

Buy Full-Priced Nexus 4 from T-Mobile and Get Reduced-Price Data Plan

I didn't see any threads about this anywhere, so I figure this might be interesting for at least a few people, especially those on contract.
I decided to check to see how readily available the Nexus 4 was on T-Mobile's website. I went through the motions and added it to my cart (admittedly a bit more complicated than it should be...), but I noticed an interesting offer:
"You are eligible to receive data service at a reduced price."
To the tune of $15 as opposed to $30. The catch? You gotta buy at full price ($499.99). Before you wave this off as nonsense, the interesting part is that if you do the math (assuming a 2-year contract, of course), getting the phone at full-price and then paying $15 for data turns out to be CHEAPER than getting it for $199.99 and continuing to pay $30!
Buying Subsidized - 200 + 24*30 = $920
Buying Unsubsidized - 500 + 24*15 = $860
Savings - 920 - 860 = $60!
Of course, that's over the course of two years... It's up to you to determine whether such a huge initial plunge is worth it in the long-run. I'm going to call T-Mobile soon to ask them a few more questions about this offer. Some things I don't quite know:
Am I still getting unthrottled 4G data?
Does this price stay in effect as long as I'm on T-Mobile and don't change my plan?
Does this affect the Family Plan I'm on in any way?
That second question is pretty important. Unless T-Mobile fails miserably as a service provider, I don't see myself leaving them anytime soon, and paying $15/mo. for unlimited 4G HPSA+ (soon to be LTE) sound amazing. I'd definitely want that grandfathered, just in case Tmo decides to kill their Unlimited Nationwide 4G plans in the future.
If anyone with T-Mobile (customer or representative) actually knows the answers to those questions, let me know. Depending on the answers, I just might go this route.
Why not just switch from the subsidized Classic plan to an unsubsidized Value plan and get the phone from Google (in a few weeks time)? Unlimited unthrottled data is just $20 on a Value plan (the voice/messaging part of the plan is cheaper, too), and you're free to bring in phones whenever you want instead of on these artificial 2-year contract cycles.
this is just for data, what about talk and text? I know you can text through data but wasn't this phone not able to talk through data or something like that??
I went to the site and see no such offer?
Can you show pictures or give detailed directions as to how you added it to your cart?
I even asked a tmo rep on chat and they said there's no such thing.

sprint took this code and activated my phone. Looks like the price dropped to $35. but my bill still mentioned $55 until the owner of the code get a text from sprint and they confirm or accept me into the framily.
so its not automatic.
to the owner of this code, please accept me under the name ken L....many thanks!

wait so how does this work?
6 members joined for code #C00007907iV
at 6 members so far for sprint framily id# C00007907iV
so currently the price level is confirmed for $30. so just needed one more person to join to reach $ 25.00 level!
Currently, you can only activate a sprint framily at a sprint retail store and does not apply for existing sprint members under contract.
You can buy a new sprint phone or active an existing sprint phone... in my case, I've purchased an sprint iPhone off ebay with clean ESN...and had no issues with activation. I do need to pay an $ 39 activation fee and the first bill is still $ 55. + Tax, ( as they will adjust the new rate based on next billing cycle )

Tesler543 - Do you have any spots left in your Framily? I'm getting my phone tomorrow and hoping to go into a Sprint store on Saturday to sign up.
Can the owner of C00007907iV accept me in as well?

I have 5 already and you can use mine. P00098153an. I just added a line so it has 13 days left for the deal
If anyone is interested my Framily ID: S00039670Et
currently 2/10 .. a sprint rep told me I could not join another framily since mine had already been established.. all are welcome.. I am hoping to get my two buddies on the same id by the end of the week. 11 years with sprint, not going anywhere soon.
E00004034yp my framily id. feel free to use also.
If anyone is interested use my code G00264182aL according to the sprint rep you only have 14 days to use it. It was started today 1/29/14
I saw this and figured OP just misspelled 'family'...then everyone just played along...then I saw the sprint ad...boy , do I feel dumb. Haha!
Sent from my HTCONE
Definitely feel like this plan was misrepresented, you can not add existing lines whether under contract or not. Super disappointing.

I posted my Framily ID a few days ago and now they are all full. A few other family members of mine asked me to share theirs. Here they are for those of you who would like to use them.
