Price is $399.99. Rebate is $50. I just placed an order. I'm excited.
Darn, that is a fantastic price. I wish I hadn't ordered from Amazon this weekend.
Here in Denmark it costs $630... I'm not going to order the TF701T from USA like I did with the TF700T, seeing as the keyboard wouldn't charge, and the charger couldn't be used here anyway... Lots of money to save though. It must feel good to be American sometimes...

Interestingly I took my TF701T to Japan and the dock wouldn't charge there. The unit would only trickle charge. This is with the official asus charger which is rated 100V to 240V.
Back home again and both work fine............
Yeah that is strange. :S I had to buy a DK charger for it, and it worked fine with the tablet, but the dock would just never charge.
Oh well, I accidentally wiped the damn thing when uninstalling the Ubuntu dual boot, so it's useless anyway, which is why I'm considering the TF701T. It's just so pricey here!

It's also $299 on Amazon. From Amazon Warehouse, it has been as low as $205, though the price is constantly fluctuating. It's currently $221. New Tegra K1/ Snapdragon 805 devices are on the way, so that's probably why the price is dropping.

Yep - just pulled the trigger on it for $299. I think this tablet at $299 is by far the best bang for the buck. I know new SD800 and Tegra 5 tablets are due out this year but the 701 at$299 is just a killer bargain!

Just installed your ROM on my new 701. Runs better than CM11 nightly. Your ROMs from the TF300 just seem to move along to the next device and continue to improve.

Where exactly can I find the link for Amazon Warehouse? I've been sitting on buying a tf701 in the hope of it getting lower than the 299 price it is on right now. Father's Day sale I'm hoping. *chuckles*

It's under the "Used" section. If you pick one that has a description saying "Item is in original packaging, but packaging may come damaged" or "Item will come repackaged", then it should come in virtually new condition. Otherwise it will list minor cosmetic defects, "Small (less than ¼" x ¼") cosmetic imperfection on front of item". Just stick with ones that only mention packaging and the condition will likely be close to perfect. Right now, the price is $272 though, so you'll want to wait until it drops again. Amazon Warehouse is well worth the savings. I got a Sandisk 64 GB Class 10 UHS-1 last year for less than $20 when it then usually sold for $45. The only thing wrong with it was the packaging. Same with another flash drive I bought. Most items they sell are openbox with little or no damage to the product.
Whew! Best Buy literally sold out its unit while I was on the tf701 page. I quickly headed to Amazon where the price increased to 349. I quickly went to TigerDirect and quickly made an order for their 299 unit. True enough, when my wife checked out the tf701 on TigerDirect, it wasn't available all of a sudden.
Whew!
But what could have been the reason for the price changes and availability of the tf701 all of a sudden? Did an online vendor bought all of Best Buys cheaper units with the purpose of selling them again at a higher price?
Clarification: the 299 unit on TigerDirect is still available. The link my wife used might have been for another tf701 posting on Tiger.

I really had a hard time deciding to buy a brand new unit or go through Amazon Deals with units slightly cheaper. However, I prefer to err on the side of caution. I bought something, not on Amazon though, but with the same conditions you stated. That something conked out after a few months. LOL.

It's not worth it right now, but if the price drops to $200 again, it definitely will be. Never had any problems with Warehouse, but you could add a $44.99 Squaretrade Warranty to cover the product for a year if you wanted to be extremely careful.
Will definitely try the Warehouse in the future. Had to get the 299 one for fear of only the 349+ ones being available for orders. My wife is buying it for me as a birthday gift so all is well. LOL. Thanks for the advices!

Nook or Tab?
Not sure if that tab requires some kind of activation or not? Read some reviews/videos lastnight comp Tab vs. Nook and the tab usually wins on most based on "out of box" exp. Don't think they had the latest tweeks on the nooks though. And most where comparing the Tab wi-fi only which is actually downgraded frim 3G one in a few ways.
Can live fine w/ GPS tether, no camera. Get by without actual buttons ok. Better dev here and build quality, and I'm getting used to the dpi and actually like it.

AT&T is selling a refurbished galaxy tab for $250, no contract. The only requirement is you have to buy a month of service, which can easily be canceled and refunded with a polite call to AT&T customer service.
My conclusion: DON'T BUY THE WIFI VERSION. Just don't. It is a scaled down version of the cellular version. So for the same price as the wifi one, why not? Also, both the nook and galaxy tab have great hacking communities so ROMs are plentiful in both cases, it just depends on whether the spec bump is worth it.

Just curious if anyone with a refurbished nook has noticed any screen defects like dust under the screen or stuck pixels. I know I went through 4 nooks with screen defects before I got one without any problems. I know others have had similar issues. Wondering if a lot of these refurbished nooks are these returned ones.

Hello everyone,
I've been looking around for a tablet for a few weeks and the Nexus 7 is on the list of possibles.
I was just wondering if it would be a good idea to hang on for a refurbished Nexus 7. Are there more 8gb versions going back than 16gb's? Reading all the feedback Google must be awash with returns and I was wondering how they intend to move these products on. (Apple sell refurbished ipads on their website)
what do you reckon? Worth waiting for a refurb?

If they do openly sell them, I say go for it. I only experienced the screen lift, and is probably an easy fix.
As for people with screen dead spots/washed out color. I can only imagine the only way they fix it is with a new display, so that would be another go for it. That's if they sell as refurbed.
Bit seeing this device has such a small profit margin, I doubt they will sell refurbed devices

i would buy a refurbished one. im currently in the process of returning mine, screen lift and light bleed, and i would definitely buy a refurbished unit. all refurbished items i have bought before (phones, laptops, tablets, ipods) have work just fine like new............ and their always cheaper
I was just thinking of how much these will sell for in a year or two. They're cheap new.... so ~$100 resell? Seems crazy.
Refurbs probably won't be THAT much cheaper, maybe $150. I'd almost rather just buy new. I don't think your really going to save hundreds like you could with a 10" tablet of yesteryore.

The majority of times, refurbs aren't actually refurbs, but new units marked down and relabeled. It's one way to move excess inventory w/o impacting the SRP. That KF you got is most likely new.
BTW, you can definitively tell whether a CE is "new" or refurb by cracking it open. Those that have been opened (refurbed) will always leave tell-tale traces.
N7 is still supply-constrained for the near future, so chance for an "unofficial" markdown is slim. One way that could change is if upcoming competition from Amazon and Apple is fiercer than expected.
I'd wait. I've had good luck with refurb devices in the past. Amazon sold the Kindle Fire for $140 refurbed a few months after release.

That wouldn't make sense from a business perspective. It's better to replace the screen (or parts) and sell refurbed for a $60 loss over just trashing the unit for a $170 loss. Not everything has to turn a profit, just minimize the loss.
I would almost guarantee there's a refurbed unit. But whether it's available in the US is another thing.
I see a long time ahead before refurbs hit the market. Probably a year. In the meantime they will take the parts and use them when someone sends in for warranty repair. Just because thee is screen separation does not mean you get a new unit. It might right now due to their inventory. But give it a month and you will start seeing refurbs sent out for warranty repairs.

Aaaahhh... maybe they're selling to other countries as new...
A little shady, but possible where their laws wouldn't prohibit such an action
If you want it, why torture yourself and wait for a used unit only to save a few bucks?
You could check the XDA Market for guys selling theirs for a few bucks less or do yourself a favor and Buy it now and buy it new, with a warranty at a brick and mortar store in case you need to exchange it for another in the event there is some defect (screen lift).

the prime is usually more expesive than the the tf700 or 701 which are almost at the same price than the tf300 .

Yeah it was a black Friday deal. It was up for a few days though. I recommended it to a few friends. It's pretty awesome actually. I'm on it right now. I read that the 5ghz wifi isn't enabled because of some fcc requirement so maybe someone knows how to enable it by running a kernel from the original version or something?

They have them back in stock now. They also added the more premium version with 64GBs of storage and a gold metal back for $370 if I'm not mistaken. Pretty sure this is the version that also comes with the high end earbuds. They also have the silver 32gb for $299. Honestly both are still very good prices for what you get. Only other tablet that is as premium is the iPad mini 4 and that's still double the price with nasty iOS.

I agree it's a great tablet and excellent. I bought two of them on Black Friday when Amazon had them for $240.

Mine is going to be here on Tuesday! I am using it to replace a Kindle Fire Hdx 7. Now with Amazon allowing you to download content to any device I will have all my Google content on there without the quirks I experienced when back dooring it on my Kindle.

Pretty sadly, that's the only Android tablet released by a major player in USA in 2016, and barely anyone even noticed...
Got mine yesterday, very happy with it, premium build, excellent display, good sound. Only thing I hope is that we get EMUI 5 next year.
Prince is jacked back up! :'(

Just curious, what ROM is installed in yours? I ordered mine in China, have Chinese ROM but do they all come like this?
Sorry, probably won't help you. I ordered from a local retailer in Switzerland and got the EU version.
Right now, jet.com has a $30 code = TRIPLE15. I just purchased 64GB for $348 which includes tax and free shipping.
This code is good for first time shoppers on the website.
Good news in EU too for the LTE model ASIN B01L27OWJO:

I just ordered the 32gb for $299 which is still a deal to replace my old shield tablet. It should be here by Wednesday. I can't wait after watching reviews on YouTube.
