Samsung Keyboard Shortcuts gone. - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed this app called "SamsungKeyboardShortDelay" from Xposed Installer, and when I rebooted the shortcuts on the Samsung Keyboard dissappeard. I have the At&t N3, rooted via Kingo. The only other app I have is Wanam Xposed. I removed the app and rebooted, and the shortcuts did not come back. I then went into application manager>Samsung Keyboard and cleared the data/cache, rebooted and no luck. I then as a last resort did a factory data reset and they still didn't come back. I don't know what else to do. Please help.

Im talking about the keyboard shortcuts, when you do a long press on a letter it gives you a shortcut to a symbol. View attachment 2561709It's supposed to look like the first picture, but instead it looks like the second.

I didn't have the shortcuts on my standard Samsung keyboard on my Note3. However I got them installing the XPOSED mod "Samsung Alt Symbols"
It works fine for my phone.

Thanks!! Seriously man, I've been trying to get them back for over a month now. That did the trick.

Man thx for this so happy to have them back.

Hide Bar App

Hi, has someone try this app to hide the bottom bar?
http://ppareit.github.com/HideBar/
It hides the bar, but can't get it back by Swyping up! I'm on Tiamat 221

Tried it and had to reboot. Luckily, I made sure to uncheck Start at Boot.
Been looking for one of these that actually works.
Whats wrong with TabletBar Hider? https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tlalexander.tabletbarhider&feature=search_result
Looks like Honeybar isn't on the market anymore.
I have a link for HoneyBar but I am not sure if it is warez or not. It's from *OK I gues it is warez, cause there are other paid apps' APKs there*
Since the app isn't on the market anymore though I guess I could upload it here, but I need a confirmation from a mod
It's a bit cumbersome to have to rotate the tablet just to get out of it, and I keep getting stuck in an app having to reboot..
A simple corner long press our swipe would remedy this. Dunno why this can't be added.
Use virtual bar to get outa apps instead of reboot. And Honeybar is the one to get, if you can find it..
I think Google has removed Honeybar from the Android Market. I guess removing an essential UI element of Honeycomb is not what Google wants users to do.
Thanks all for your advice... with just a quick google search found honeybar
I can't find it :-/

[Q] Stock Music App

My phone is rooted and I took the liberty of uninstalling some of my stock apps. One of which was the stock music app. I have no need for it since I use Poweramp. However, to my surprise, I found that it leaves the controls in the notification drop-down when it is not installed (as shown in my screenshot).
Since I didn't back up the app, I have no way or reinstalling it. Does anyone know where I can download the app or if it is possible to remove the controls without reinstalling the app?
As of now you have to have it insralled to get them to go away,

Just put this in system/app and reboot.

Thanks! I didn't even have to reboot. As soon as I put it in /system/apps, the controls went away.

Can't see my own apps on Google Play

This might sound a bit strange but since I flashed Bulletproof kernel yesterday I can't seem to view my own apps or settings on Google Play, I've attached a screenshot, usually I would click the top right of Google play and i could see my apps but as you can see it only appears to give me the option to search, I've gone through the app and cannot see settings or my own apps, anyone know what's happening here?

Looks like youre on a custom ROM with menu buttons removed. You need to map the menu to another button (ones Ive seen are double tap the back button). When you open the menu you can get that info. You'll have to check with your ROM to see how to access the menu.

If I'm not mistaken that kernel removes the 3 dot menu and maps it to the HTC logo inbetween the back and the home physical buttons

Running Trickdroid ROM but I've just restored my nandroid backup and I can again see my apps in Google play and the menu buttons so it was in fact the kernel that done it.
I'll just stick to stock kernel

You could just flash faux kernel which alreadu uses the HTC logo as a menu anyway. You'll then be able to access it properly.

Hidden Menus!

Went through shortcuts for Apex launcher actions and found a Programming menu, Debug menu, and something called CQATest.
I created the shortcuts, but has anyone figured out the dialer codes to access these yet?

Boot into the BP Tools mode, via the bootloader and youll get the same thing as an app in the drawer, CQA Test

On 442 CQATest works from BP (factory too) boot up. But debug & programming are missing.
I can find no access to the old ##program from dialer. Only *#*#info#*#* works.
I would be very careful with what your messing around with in these settings I lost my efs luckily I had a backup to flash...you've been warned.lol

Do you mean the cqatest? Because that is all that works on 442.
It was on 4.4 the programming menu

The only time I've ever messed with these menus is when I've had to trouble shoot things. Otherwise I just leave those menus be. Its too easy to really screw something up.
I only wanted to disable my proximity sensor!
Well maybe something else.
Btw
There is a FDR but not sure how it read exactly. No confirmation, boom I was stearing at the Google login!!
BTW can someone point out the key differences from factory & bp tools boot up?

Unfortunately Swype has stopped working. Any ideas?

Swype came installed on my phone, so it's all I really know as far as keyboards goes. It's always worked, but not sure what happened, but when I press the microphone it says "Unfortunately Swype has stopped working" and only option is to hit OK and it closes.
Any ideas what to do?
When this happens to me, I navigate to Settings - Apps - All (scroll to the right) - find Swype. Scroll down and click clear data.

Thanks! That partially solved my problem. While the microphone button works now, clearing the data made Swype look totally different and I can't find a way to get it to look like it did. Is there a spot for themes or something somewhere? I would like it to appear as it did when I bought my phone.
There's a settings icon on the keyboard.. when I go in there it brings up "HTC Sense Input Settings". Maybe it's not using Swype? Not sure how to get it back on. If I go into Settings, Language & Keyboard, I can find Swype settings. It says it's using Classic theme.

Go back to where you found that Swype was using classic theme and tap it. This will take you to where you can change your theme.

It's set as classic. I tried to change it to Silver then back to Classic no luck. The keyboard doesn't even look like any of the themes shown, so I'm guessing it's not using Swype. Not sure how to get it back.
Lemme reboot the phone and see what happens.
Not working.. it definitely is a different keyboard.. because I can't "swype" to type words.. just not sure how to get Swype to come back as default for everything.

Ok..... Open up a text message and get to the point where your HTC keyboard Pops up. From there, swipe down from the top of your screen where it shows what applications you have running. You should see "Choose input method." Tap on that and you should be able to change input method to Swype.

I love you long time. I'll keep both of these in my mental file. Solved.
