My phone is rooted and I took the liberty of uninstalling some of my stock apps. One of which was the stock music app. I have no need for it since I use Poweramp. However, to my surprise, I found that it leaves the controls in the notification drop-down when it is not installed (as shown in my screenshot).
Since I didn't back up the app, I have no way or reinstalling it. Does anyone know where I can download the app or if it is possible to remove the controls without reinstalling the app?
As of now you have to have it insralled to get them to go away,

Just put this in system/app and reboot.

Thanks! I didn't even have to reboot. As soon as I put it in /system/apps, the controls went away.

I've been messing with my Captivate a lot for the past few weeks, rooted and flashed once I got sick of waiting for an update. I've tried most of the major roms out there and am having a great time learning about it all.
I have a problem and would appreciate some advice on the simplest way to solve it. Whenever I try to enter the image gallery, I get a black screen for a few seconds, then it vibrates a few times and kicks back to the home screen and gives me a failure notification. It does this regardless of what rom I'm running so I'm assuming it has something to do with the file structure on the card? If I data reset, will this fix it?
I looked around but didn't see an apparent answer for this specific issue. Thanks
Try this, download sgs tools from market. Goto uodate stock apps select gallery

Hmmm, I downloaded it and it doesn't seem to do that much. I don't see any options like that for sure. What is that program supposed to do?
After I posted I realized the app I referenced is not on the market.
Have you tried deleting app data
settings, applications, manage, all, gallery, delete data

wow, thanks! That did it. I just upgraded the stock app and it's fine now. This app looks really useful, what are some of its other uses?
Secret codes gets you into a bunch of useful things
like lbs test mode for gps
the updated gallery you installed is also supposed to help battery somehow.
I do not use it all too much though, but I keep it around

So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing defaults and cache. Nothing works. Even reboots or Rom changes don't! Its making me mad. LP will not hold my settings whenever I reboot it to make the changes because it always forecloses. Any suggestions?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
That's because it sucks. Lol. I personally use ADW Ex and it has all the things LP does without all the bugs. Try it and you'll see what I mean.

Oh I have used ads, but I like how the dock bar slides so there are more apps down there. I really don't like having apps on the screen, to me it looks messy. Plus you can have custom icons. But if worse comes to worse, I have it in titanium backup

As far as your settings not sticking you can go into the system and delete the dbdata/databases/com.fede.launcher folder. I did this and it allowed my settings to stick. Make a backup first in case something goes wrong. Hopefully this helps.
Well deleting it seemed to help, but now all it does is forclose. Never had a problem like this before

I'm not sure about your fc's. Happened to me once with adw. I just flashed back to stock and a master clear with odin and started over. Not the answer you want to hear I'm sure, but it was what worked for me.
mine generally FC when i flash over a new rom before going back to stock
This is ridiculous man. I've had 3 moto phones now and have never seen it like this! Every reboot I lose at least 5. The XDA app is cursed on this phone, not to mention others.
Before you ask, I didn't transfer anything to the media area.
This is silly, and needs to get sorted out soon.

You want to know how bad it was the last time my phone was rebooted? (which was from a battery pull due to the XDA app freezing up the phone) - I had 5 1/2 pages of apps before - now I have 4 1/2.
This is wild...
Just got the bionic
And the same thing has happened to me
Kinda annoying

Ok... I won't ask if you transfered anything to the media area.
What I will ask is if you transfered your file which are in the media area back to the phone.
Some apps will install to the media area by default. You need to move them to the phone in manage apps.
Go to manage apps and select the media area tab. Make sure you go down the line and ensure there are no checks in any boxes.
If you have any, move those apps to phone if you don't want them top disappear.

Just did what you said. I will report back at the end of the day if I lost any apps.

Not so fast
I just followed the recommendation to the T. And when I attempt to uncheck the box, I get a screen that allows me to move the app back to the phone.
So I next tried to move the app back to the phone, but when I do, I get a popup that states: "FAILED TO MOVE APPLICATION". Repeated tries yield the same results.
The QC on this phone is rubbish.
+1 ... I usually lose XDA, Netflix, and Madden 12. Madden 12 won't even show up in the market for me either although I have paid for it.
If the app you're trying to movve is already missing try re-installing it from the market before you move it to keep your data.
The apps which disapeared all start with "COM." And will have to be re-installed before you can move them.

When I download apps from Android Market, the Bionic occasionally (rarely) throws an insufficient storage message just prior to installation, despite have >2GB of application storage available. The downloaded file just disappears after that.
If I had to guess, when my apps disappear, they do so during automatic updates.
If you get that error, most likely it was trying to save an app to your media area.
Re-download and install the app.
Once install is complete, send the app back to phone asap. Get it out of the media area.

UN mounting and re mounting the internal storage works. So does restarting the launcher after the initial boot. You can use a task manager to kill the home process... When it restarts all my apps re appear
Weak we have to go through all that trouble... But it is better than no fix at all.
Losing apps is not Bionic specific
Dear All:
My lg revolution does the same thing, when I reboot phone not all the apps load. It seems to be software related aka Android glitches. The apps I have installed to the external SD card are the ones that are sometimes lost. Internal memory apps never get lost. BTW my wife's Fascinate the same thing.

What class SD card are you using? Try a slower class card. It also might be the brand is not compatible.
Your SD card is the problem.

I had this problem as well, and after doing a bit of searching around, this is what I came up with. This is apparently a problem plaguing the Bionic right now, and will hopefully be fixed with the soon to come OTA update. When you download apps, go to settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Media Area, and uncheck the apps that you want the phone to not delete, or if it's a new app you just downloaded, make sure it ISN'T checked. In a sense, sometimes the phone will save apps to the SD card (when the box is checked) automatically besides the standard internal memory, therefore when the phone reboots, it might not read the apps in your SD memory very well. So until the OTA udpate comes through, just double check in this area that all apps are unchecked (unless it's Backbreaker, or something). For instance, my DroidForums application kept uninstalling itself, and after checking the Media Area, I noticed that the box beside the name was "checked." After unchecking, it is no longer removing itself.
Has anyone tried to update Google Music? I'd like to give their new All Access a try however whenever I try to launch the application, it will crash. I reinstalled with no luck.
Worked fine for me, but I haven't bothered rooting or installing custom kernels/roms yet. Are you rooted/custom?
rooted but not running a custom rom
I'm rooted and it's working fine for me.. Hope this takes off because I'm liking it way more than Pandora because it mixes in my personal collection

I can play one song.. But if I seek or manually choose another song it crashes.
Also the album artwork should slowly be animated and slide side to side. It just flashes back n forth left to right and gives you a seizure.
Hope they update soon, works fine on nexus 7.
Running stock deodexed w mods.

Clear the application cache/data then open the app again . You would have to log back in with your google account and voila.

Doesn't work. Done did that already.
After every call ended, S-Health pops up, after unplugging headphones S-Health pops up, and sometimes varies with other apps when exiting them or doing whatever... wtf. Thought it was me but two buddies with new S5 as well said the same thing. Any way to disable this, I don't even use it and not signed into it. Useless to me, I keep my workout sched for different days in Evernote anway. Praying to the root gods something is figured out to get rid of this bloatware.
Go to settings/application manager and find s health in the All tab. Uninstall updates first, and then hit "turn off".

Thanks. Went through and pretty much did the same for every AT&T and Sammy app showing.
It doesn't remove the apps, but at least it prevents them from running services in the background.

Same issue
I've had this same problem on my S7. I 'Disable' the app and it asks me if I would like to restore it to the factory version to which I say 'yes'. Then at the next update it reinstalls the latest updates and it all happens again. I'm not very tech-savvy so am hoping someone can help. I've now removed all permissions and blocked notifications on the app settings so fingers crossed it stops happening.
