Hi there, what i did was unlocking the bootloader. As long as you do it carefully and follow instructions, dont skip any, it should be fine.
Firstly backup your data and stuff.
Next, flash .159 ftf, link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469191
Then root it with vroot.
After that backup your TA, link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598&highlight=ta
Then go to sony's website and unlock your bootloader. Warning: your warranty will be voided.
After that flash supersu or a pre rooted rom. Lots of those on XDA.
If you need any help PM me. Just be careful
hit thanks if i helped

Hi there, I am a noob to this forum, so apologies if this thread ends up in the wrong place!
I purchased a Sony Xperia T on Monday (17/12/12) after my HTC Desire broke
So far a great phone, I just get fed up with all the adverts on my games! I want to root it and just get the standard 'apps' for rooted phones ie. AdAway, Titanium Backup etc.
I rooted and installed custom ROMs on the Desire with no problem, but I can't seem to do this on the T. I have scoured the net for tutorials and guides and everything else, but nothing seems to be working.I am trying to use Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v4.
I follow the instructions to the letter- choose phone, insert USB, choose restore, and wait... sometimes it reboots, others it just does nothing. Even when it does reboot, it still doesn't root.
Specs:
Model Number= LT30P
Android Version= 4.0.4
Baseband Version= 8960A-AAAAANAZQ-10015019-19
Kernel Version= 3.0.8+1.0.21100-02477-g0d376f4
Build Number= 7.0.A.3.195
I am on UK Orange/EE
USB Debugging is enabled...
Sorry about the long post, I wanted to give as much info as I could so I can hopefully get this done.
In advance, thanks :fingers-crossed:

you cannot root 7.0.A.3.195 unless you unlock your bootloader.
check Q&A section for all in one thread (sticky), everything in there.
You CAN root .195. Firmware but that needs some work. Just go to the all in one thread in the questions and answer section and read that thread. It has every info you need for rooting.
Sent from my LT30p (Xperia T) using XDA Premium.

i think i was pretty clear in answering his question.. and pointed him to Q&A thread.
Welcome to the forum. Please make sure you post in the relevant section to what you're posting about, i.e. all questions belong here in Q&A.
Also the best thing to do is always search first as gregbradley has kindly put together an all in one thread at the top of this section which will help you with most common questions.
Thanks

If you did it without unlocking the bootloader or without flashing a prerooted stock image through CWM please share because those are the only methods that I am aware of currently working.

There is a method will documented in the q&a, requires flashing. 303 and rooting, installing cwm and then restoring a 195. As mentioned above, check the all in one thread.
The following link gives info, please search first.

Thanks everyone, 'thanks' has been clicked
Before I do this a) is there any way to 'unroot' the phone, as it voids warranty etc? And b) is it a huge improvement on stock, unrooted? Looking at the posts mentioned it appears to be stable, but just want some feedback from you guys.
Thanks guys

I'm with you on this one Spec. If there is a direct way of rooting the phone without the round-about way. I'm all ears.
I have a question for anyone who have purchased the Root Android software from this website:-
http://root-android.org/
I am thinking of rooting my Sony Xperia V device but has anyone tried on their Sony Xperia phones and it successfully rooted without unlocking the bootloaders please?

You would really pay $29.99 to get your V rooted....wow...
Actually I awaiting for anyone to root the Sony Xperia V with Jelly Bean without unlocking bootloader. I have rooted with my smartphone by unlocking the bootloader which was a mistake as problems with broken mobile bravia and download music info from Walkman app would not work. Fortunately I upgraded to Jelly Bean via pc companion fixed it all so I will not unlock my bootloader again.
I just contacted Root Android my questions so I wait and see.

OK,
The "issues" with bravia and walkman are not really issues at all. They are fully explained onthe Sony site that they will lose functionality and also they explain why.
And what are those explained please?
Link me a website if you will or have time please.
google
unlock bootloader sony
first hit
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
you will have had to "read" and agree to this before you unlocked the bootloader of your phone.
As I said I do not want to unlock my phone again as it been repaired by upgrading to Jelly Bean for my download music info on walkman app now worked again.
I want to root without unlocking the bootloader.
Read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2135124
you have to unlock the bootloader but after it all you can flash a relock ftf.
Not sure if it fixes the BE or walkman but thats up to you to read up on it
I did do a relock otherwise I would not been able to to update to Jelly Bean via pc companion, ultimately fixing the walkman and BE.
So are you saying my device would have to be unlocked then root it and there is no other way?

currently yes, there is no other way. But that thread says you can relock and keep root... read the thread
Yes with the risk of removal security drm keys ultimately breaking the download music info gain. Yet it can be relocked but still does not fix the problem I think if I am right.
I rather you or people on the link thread to take the risk you gave me is the reason why I already asked the question but got no response as of yet.

I know a thread where Sony Xperia S smartphones I think have fixed it, just have and wait and see, probably not.

HI All.
Been a Galaxy S2 user for ages, and took the change to go to Z1 experia.
Now looking to root and om the phone.
I had done this on the GS2 for ages, and knew the process well.
How different is the rooting process on the Z1?
How do we install roms on the Z1, and to root the phone?
Do we flash a kernel with CWM for the Z1?
Any help appreciated,.
Cheers
Glen.

But i really don't want to downgrade my phone it takes alot of time and effort. I just want the method of pre rooting. It's just that i really don't know what are the basics such as the "Bootloader", SuperSU, how to choose the designated firmware and also the root recovery.
If you know a thread or a link please reply it to me.
D6633? Wrong forum my friend ?
