All of a sudden my screen has a horrible red tint. It appears to be a software issue because when I reboot the phone, the booting logos are all colored properly. Also - the navigation bar is not tinted red, only the rest of the screen. When I play a full screen video the navigation area also turns red. That indicates to me that this is a software problem. I disabled all of my xposed modules and switched back to the stock launcher but it's still red.
Next step unfortunately will be to factory reset or flash a new rom but I'd really love to avoid that. Any idea what might have caused this?
Recovery screen is normal colored as well. The only modifications I've done are root the stock rom, install greenify, Xposed, and G2Xposed.
Edit: Solved, it was the Lux app. Weird. It's been working fine for me for months and wasn't updated today.
There is an astronomy mode on the lux app, you probably hit the star button accidentally

I recently installed widgetlocker, very cool app, but since then whenever I unlock the screen it come on very dark. I have to open up the quick settings and then hit brightness and press the slider to fix it every time. Not sure where to fix this in setting and not sure if it is widgetlocker related or not.
Thanks.

Wouldn't imagine so, since I use it on mine and have never noticed this.
I uninstalled and reinstalled widgetlocker and this does not fix the problem. When I say dark, I mean darker than if you pull the bar in the settings menu all the way to the left. really dark. And a reboot does not fix it either.
more info: when I lock with the app the screen is bright, when the power button is pressed the screen does this fancy fade animation and blanks. When the screen unlock shows up the brighten animation, assuming tha there is supposeed to be one, does not run.
did a restore from a backup and the problem went away. I have not reinstalled widgetlocker and I am not sure that I will

Today I used my phone on landscape mode. I noticed that there is bluish bright color where status bar usually is.
It is visible at white, grey, and blue backgrounds. I start using custom launcher now to hide status bar.
Do you know how can I fix like stuck pixel solving applications?
Thanks

Just by hiding the status bar and switching between 12/24 hour clocks will help. Also use landscape mode more often. It should clear up. Try to use dark colored backgrounds/themes too. Blue is the first color to cause problems with amoled.
Also lower your screen timeout time to 15 or 30 seconds to reduce wasted screen time while also saving some battery. But hiding your dock amd status bar with your launcher will help go a long way too. I use Nova and set them both to hide with finger gestures making it easy
This will only prevent further damage though. Anything to fix current damage?
Also I tried nova to hide, but bar comes back every time I use an application. So it hides only on desktop. How to hide always? I want to be on full screen always.

All this accomplishes is to even the burn out - similar to grinding a screen with sand paper/grit to "buff out a scratch."
Can't fix burn out.

Actually you may be right. I am not sure but it might me more visible now. It did not fix at all.
Any suggestion to hide status bar always? Also is there any fix?
I don't want to return back the phone because:
1. I have to unroot and change CF-Root kernel.
2. I have to go back to GB.
Then, I can go to where I bought this. And I will need to wait maybe 1 month to get replacement or fix.
If I cannot fix this by myself, I will go to shop just before warranty ends which means 1.5 years later. It is not visible on photo/games/other colored backgrounds.
If no fix, I just want to hide status bar even if any application is open.
No you can't fix the damage that has already been done.
From another thread were I posted....
Use launchers that hide the notification bar on home screens.
Don't use apps that don't have the option to hide the notification bar.
Use full screen browsing with browsers such as Opera Mobile
And don't leave static images on the phone for extended periods of time.
And for the love of god don't use a cradle or docking station because that will destroy your screen! Think about it? Leaving your phone on all day at work in its docking station showing the time and weather. What do you think is going to happen to that screen?
I cannot believe you just made me notice this! Damn that's annoying me now! Blueish tint.
Edit... does having a black status bar still cause this?

I always had black status bar. I don't know how it happened. Now, I start using StatusBar+ . I will cycle through Red Green Blue(maybe no blue for a while) for color of status bar. Also icon colors will be cycled as well.
Sorry I made notice you the defect. I won't buy Samsung phone anymore. HTC Desire was better First slight horizontal lines/tint and now this burn in. I say it is low quality.

Only way is to get screen replaced. I heard other user state Samsung will do this service for you as long as your phone is under warranty but you must send it in to them.
Or pay for shop to replace screen for you.

Then you need to reboot device and if you mess up build.prop permissions you will get boot loop. This app will allow to hide/restore navigation bar on the fly and risk free
I have installed the all bit it isn't work. It Makes another bar on the one present net.

Your device is rooted right? Metallijim in Nexus 4 thread confirmed that it works on Xperia Z and added screenshot too. Did you try version 'without.detection' ?

It works for my phone, it would be perfect if the red trigger line turns transparent. Great works.

Tried the app on my ZL. The auto-hiding works and the replacement reacts, but it is rather small, like the status bar. Allowing to change the dpi of the replacement would be appreciated.

The app works great and I like it!! Only some minor issues:
-When you change to full screen the wallpaper sometimes change to the original (known issue).
-When reboot sometimes the notification bar disappear for a minute or less.
-When you hide soft keys or show soft keys the percent battery on the status bar disappear.
Thank you

These are a bit tricky to fix, but I'm researching it. I hope to improve Quick NavBar enough that you won't need turn on/off stock soft keys often. I added Google Now button in latest dev version release.

** Disclaimer 2: I don't own a Verizon G2, so while I know my tweaks work on AT&T and I made the same ones against Verizon framework files for these, I currently have no guarantee they work. **
Description:
I like my screen real-estate. Going from S4 -> G2 I was sad that despite the larger screen, I had *less* real estate because of the on-screen soft keys.
I know a lot of you use GMB Hide Soft Keys and it is a great app, however, I personally prefer to have an always-on, always-available set of navigation keys.
Enter this mod. It shrinks the nav bar down considerably, increasing screen real estate.

That's awesome, I'm finally satisfied with the G2's screen. Thank you very much. :good:
Do you think this will work on tmobile version?
This looks great! Thank you.
Is there a way to hide the status bar at the top? Since we have the pulldown menu button I would like to hide the status bar entirely and free up that real estate.

does not work, I have a bootloop brick with no adb sup[port and cant boot recovery...
OK
1. Turn device off by holding power key down until bootloop stops.
2. Hold power, down volume and where the home key would be.
3. choose yes factory reset, should take you back to recovery....

I know for a fact that this will not work on T-Mobile directly, the same tweak will, but it would have to be T-Mobile's file version.
You should be able to garner ADB access from the LG splash boot screen by holding Vol Down on boot, it won't go into recovery but it will lock up on the LG logo and should be recognized by your comp, at least it worked for me during testing.
Get a T-Mobile owner to send you framework-res.apk from /system/framework and replace yours and you should be good to go.

I'm actually using Nova Launcher, it has a few different Folder display options. You'll lose the ability to double-tap-screen-off on the homescreen, but you can still double-tap-screen-off on the status bar up top at any time to get the same result.

It shouldn't affect quick reply in any way. It is a relatively simple and unintrusive tweak, affecting a separate class file than what is involved with quick reply.
I don't know enough about how GMD works, but I know it is still quasi-beta and people can sometimes have weird interactions with untested UIs.
Cheers.

My Verizon G2 is rooted and has the OTA 11B software, so I haven't tried to get TWRP installed yet.
Is there any way to install one of these smaller navigation bars without flashing the zip via TWPR?
I tried the APK (renamed with as .apk), but they would not install.
Can I set it transparent without root? I had it on 5.1.1 but is gone after latest update to MM. Quite often I use power saving mode and grey status bar drives me crazy. It probably doesnt save power anyway.

Yes, that grey bar on top is super annoying. Here's to hoping someone knows how to do it
The grey bar drives me a little crazy too. I was so used to the transparent one. My phone pretty much stays in Power Saving mode so if there's no workaround for it then I'll just have to deal.
