Unlock/Root? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

I purchased a Sprint HTC ONE off of craigslist, the bootloaders 1.55. My question is, is it no longer unlockable at this stage? if it is unlockable can anybody point me in the right direction? There seems to be many methods and I'm not sure which is the preferred one for me.

Click the DIY Guide link in my sig

i got it, thanks for the help.

[Q] Root without HTCDevUnlock?

There has been no mention in the ONE forums before these started getting split off about being able to root without going through HTC Devunlock first. Do you think that is being worked on and will be released? Someone had pointed to a twitter post from someone about that in the EVO LTE forums but that was weeks ago and nothing ever got posted to XDA.
Trying to figure out if I should jump on this phone or not, want to know how quickly I can get root for things like Greenify/Titanium/Adblock/Wifi Tether. I can wait for full unlock S-Off and Roms, but those apps are essential to how I like to experience my phones.
Htcdev does not root your device. It somewhat unlocks it but keeps the security on. Most devices are rooted fairly quickly, so this should be no different.

Htc dev unlock, unlocks your bootloader (s-off). This allows the flashing of new kernels and recoveries.

No htcdev doesn't give s-off. Its still s on and you have to use fastboot to flash kernels and radios.

Sorry about my misleading post. I stand corrected. Thank you.
I confirmed with HTCdev on twitter that the Sprint version of the One is getting unlock support, at least. We may or may not get full S-Off sooner or later, but the supported unlock method will be enough to satisfy me for now.
Over at HTC one (M7) forum they already have quite a few working ROMS I don't see a reason why those ROMS shouldn't work for the sprint version

It seems to me that everyone is missing the point of his/her question. The question is can you root without doing the HTC unlock method. What if someone wants to have a rooted device but wants to keep there warranty?

I would not flash a ROM intended for a GSM device on CDMA.

Sorry I was out of town for work but this is the point I was making.
I understand an unlocked bootloader /= root. That wasn't related to my question.
For example my Asus Transformer tablet has root methods that are available without the use of Asus' Bootloader unlock (similar concept to HTC's version). This gives me features/access to apps that I would like to use without loosing my warranty and without them tracking my phone that way. All of the root methods currently listed in the dev forums are currently requiring HTC Dev unlock to achieve the root access, which although is great for some is not what many of us want.
It is no different than for us coming from a Sprint Evo 4G LTE, many of us achieved root and eventually S-Off without requiring the use of HTC Dev unlock. That is what I am interested in, but my inquiry was about the fact there had been no threads regarding it being worked on or developed.
I was interested in this same thing and did some research and emailed HTC about it. HTC doesn't void warranty automatically just because you unlocked it according to their support, but it allows them the right to deny it. Basically, if they detect non-stock software on the phone, they are likely to void it. It sounded like it didn't matter if you used their unlock method or not.

Currently, NO, you CANNOT root without HTC dev unlock.
HTCDev unlock does not void your warranty. I'm not going to argue this, nor explain it. Google it.
ok
thanks a lot
Typically, a HTC device that has htcdev support doesn't get a root method without unlocking. It happens but not very many security devs are going to spend any amount of time trying to find a root exploit when one isn't needed to root the device. The time is better spent finding a s-off exploit.
The at&t guys will be plugging away at a root method and if they find a root exploit it will be compatible with ours. unless its a temp root exploit that changes cid to get them htcdev support, in that case it would be useless for us.

be careful with yr statement because this does not apply to all countries. Different Countries service centres have a different policy with regards to consumer laws in that countries
it depends on the consumer laws of the country. Here in singapore or malaysia or some asian countries , once u dev unlock i can say warranty is good as gone.

[Q] HTC J One HTL22 - is it worth it

Hello XDA,
I realize there is not too much information around about Japanese version of HTC ONE (aka J HTL22). I am wondering should I get the japanese version with osfaiukeitai and microsd slot or normal version. Here are my concers - please let me know if anyone has any clue:
1) Will it be possible to root the HTL22 ? if so, which method works?
2) Will iot be possible to use/install custom ROMs from this forum to HTL22?
3) Will MicroSD and/or osaifukeitai work with a custom ROM? I realize drivers will be needed for that. Is it possible to retreive the drivers from original ROMs and incorporate them into the new Custom ROM?
4) is it true that HTL22 is sold sim-unlocked, as rumor suggest?
any advise and info will be very appreciated!
Thank you
Bump. anyone. pls?
I think you better to consult with Mr.fnoji - you can contact him with Twitter @fnoji.
As far as I know -
1) yes. Use the revone with alternative binary.
2) I doubt it, but, people like tako0920 or fnoji are maintaining their custom roms.
3) J One's custom rom can exploit the unique MicroSD slot, but I don't know if xda's custom rom does have that feature also.
4) No, you should unlock it with fnoji's method.

Checking twitter meanwhile.
Thanks so much

I'd like as much information as possible as well. I just picked up this phone and would like to know what options are available. Does anyone know if regular HTC One accessories will work for this device?

I think the accessories will work, but it will help if you are more specific about which ones you want to use.
As for root - the only way to root and unlock the phone is to send it to someone who knows how to do it. Root-unlock method is not available publicly.
Althouh it seem like J-version ov Revone will work and unlock the bootloader. It will be easy to sim-unlock the phone once bootloader is unlocked. However, i do not know which command does it. trying to find out now. any help/ideas are welcome.
Yeah, if I fail to find an unlock method for HTC-One online, i think I am going to Galaxy s4 Active-Orange... I know it is not quite water-proof but I like the design very much
hi,
actually, i am still on the stage whether to choose HTC J One or other phones (like Galaxy S4 SC-04E or Xperia).
so, i would like to get your opinion about HTC J One.
right now i am still using Softbank but I am planning to switch to au or docomo by next month.
is it really worth getting the HTC J One? or if you have the chance you're getting a different one like SC-04E or Xperia?
are there any problems like lagging, stuttering, freezing, etc?
at first I plan to use it as it is. simply stock. just to have all the functions/features working.
but I noticed in your signature that you have successfully rooted your device.
i might do the same as well if i'll choose HTC J One...
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I have recently bought myself an htc j one and am looking for an easy step by step guide for rooting it and installing a custom rom. Also will I be able to make the handset sim free so that I can use it overseas when travelling? I hope somebody can help me. Thanks.

[Q] help rooting

Is there anyway to root Verizon htc one 4.4 hboot 1.56? I read the forums and some say it can be done with a temp root and some say it cant. All i need is root i plan on keeping a stock rom. If there is a sure way of doing this please let me konw.
A simple yes or no would keep me from looking around. Anyone?
Verizon forum did not provide the answer?
This doesn't pertain to the topic at hand. But I also got no responses when I posted a topic about almost the same issue.

[Q] SIMLOCK on my sprint HTC One

Hi all,
First of all hats off to all the contributors of this site. Really, without you guys, many people will be wasting money and wandering around for solutions. This site has amazing content.
So, to start with. I have a Sprint HTC One which says SIMLOCK enabled when i switch it on. and when I insert a SIM, it says some UICC code not set something..like that...
I am in India now, and I want to use this phone with the local carriers here.
Here are the details of the phone:
Model No: HTCPN072
UICC ID : Not available
IMSI(UICC) : Not available
After doing initial research on this forum, I understood that, I need to unlock bootloader first, and then root and flash ROM.
when i go to bootloader (press volume down + power button) the first line shows 'unlocked' on the screen. Does it mean , bootloader is unlcoked?? Please confirm.
All I want is to use this phone in India. I found various methods to unlock, root and flash custom ROMs, but I wanted to go with XDA - but unfortunately, when l opened forums for Sprint HTC One, I see lot of posts and threads, and the result is I am lost. I dont know where to start.
I know you would have answered many questions like this, I dont want to waste your time though so point me in right direction by providing links
I would be grateful , if you direct me to the right threads for this. Also please give me links where we have all-at-one-place.
Thanks again.

Ok read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244060 You have already an unlocked bootloader, so skip this part and go directly to flash recovery (I suggest TWRP)
The recovery will ask if you want to root
Finally install the "Sprint HTC One SIMunlock helper" from play store and follow the instructions

Click on the link (highlighted text) and read, read and read the first post. If you have any questions, you need to ask them in that thread since they are the most familiar with the procedure. I would also read through the last five pages of the thread to see what issues have arrived. Sorry I can not do any more, I don't have that phone nor have I unlocked a SIM.
In addition, there is a dedicated forum for the Sprint HTC One M7 and those folks there are far more familiar with the nuances of that variant.
