I've just updated my HTC One to KitKat 4.4.2 (un-rooted and unlocked)and experiencing some lag. I want to clear system cache entering recovery mode but it ain't let me enter. Method I'm using is pressing power and volume down keys and selecting recovery mode but it get stuck on screen with cell phone on it.

If you hold the power button for 2 seconds the menu should pop up. Or try flashing a custom recovery.

Worked for me. Thanks a lot but can you please suggest me something? I'm experiencing some lag on my HTC One after update (from 4.2.2 to 4.3). I've cleared cache from recovery, is it okay or do I need to apply factory reset as well?

4.4 is faster than 4.3 unlock your bootloader and install a custom recovery and a Rom

When the volume keys to select the option "reboot system now" and press the power button nothing happens. Nothing happens even when I press the home button, which I did not ever worked. When I hold power button for 10 seconds the cell phone turned off, and when I hold a few seconds, the mobile restart and back into recovery mode.

if u guys just like to get the phone back to work, it would be the best to just flash a new ROM via ODIN. After that, the phone boots normally.
But I dont know if this is an option!
Hope u are still able to get the phone to downloadmode via 3-Button-Combo?!

Home button isn't working -> no 3 button combo
try using a jig to get it in download mode and flash a stock rom
In recovery mode, you also can boot system with power-button.

Hi!
I've just upgraded my Galaxy S Plus to the official 2.3.6 Gingerbread. Everything seems ok, maybe a bit slow though, I'd like to do a master reset but I can't be able to access the Recovery mode by pressing Volume Up and Power, Nothing happens. It just starts up normally.
I can't find anything regarding this matter.
Hopefully someone can help me.
Thanks :cyclops:
Odp: Galaxy S Plus no recovery mode
The correct combination to activate the recovery is VolUp+Home+Power.

Have you rooted the device?
You need to do this to get recovery - CWM

press volume up + power until you see samsung logo, wait a couple of seconds then release power and then volume up. you should see an android out of the box, press menu. you shuld be in recovery now. you don't need root to do this, and you can root your sgs+ from stock recovery (i have an sgs+)
it worked

Hello, I recently had the xposed framework on my rooted (but on stock rom) HTC one. I removed the framework, but when I restarted my phone, it got stuck at the logo screen and will not enter recovery from power + vol down, nor restart. What can I do to break out of this? It is not a cycle where the phone keeps booting, rather in just stays in one state.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: When I hold the power + vol down keys, the back and home lights flash but nothing happens

Wha...how...I have no idea why this works, but it does, that's amazing!
However, it still freezes when i reboot. What do you suggest? Reflash the stock rom? I've read some thread that say an "erase cache" via ADB is necessary?
Reflash stock rom. If you removed framework, then it wont boot

Thank you both very much! Just wanted to say after sideloading the rom in TWRP everything is running okay!
I have a new HTC M8 form Sprint (it's the boss's phone) and since last night the phone will not boot. It is on the stock rom, not rooted and boot loader is locked. The phone won't HBoot, Fastboot or enter recovery (get the phone with the red triangle). Any ideas or help is appreciated.
What where you trying to do?
From your description it sounds like a brick.
If you can get into bootloader you could try to enter fastboot flash recovery recovery.img or put the recovery.img in a zip with correct android.txt zip it and name zip 0P6BIMG.zip and put that in root of external sdcard and boot to bootloader.
He wasn't attempting to do anything. The phone was on the charger overnight. Not sure if there was an update the was downloaded and installed overnight. Bu, as of right now it seems to be "bricked".
From the screen with the red triangle, what happens if you hold the power button down? Does it reboot? If so, when the screen goes black, try holding the volume down button and see if it will go into the bootloader. If so, you can try to RUU.

Shouldnt it be you hold volume up+ power it should reboot you, then volume down +power to boot to bootloader? I assume the same since it shows the default recovery (no ROM installed image)
I can't remember about the rebooting part. I know for a fact that if I reboot my phone I can hold volume down to get into bootloader once the screen goes black. I was stuck in the stock recovery the other day and can't recall offhand how I got it to reboot.

Hello all, a friend of mine is having some trouble getting into recovery, holding the key combos then letting go of power and then pressing it again, blah blah blah but it always boots into hardware control mode with no options to boot into recovery, we've tried several key combos with varying speed and no matter what we do it goes into that mode. It seems that other people have had this problem.... the device is on stock 4.4 and is rooted and the freedom flex app with TWRP installed, booting into recovery from android works fine and recovery is booting properly from there, any help is greatly appreciated
thanks

All I have to do is hold down the power + volume down and it goes straight into recovery mode. Have you tried pressing and holding volume down+power until logo appears then press and hold again? The only other solution is using adb.
