[Q] SMS crash - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hay!
Does anybody have a problem with SMS application on stock firmware/rom?
Sometimes it freezes occasionally and this does not show the contacts in sms. You must force close it...
I think, maybe people with V20A/V20B euro-open firmware (P88020b-EUR-XXX) having this problem

same here, it happened sometimes, i can confirm that this workaround is possible

Yes me too. The only way to fix it is to use a ROM Custom, or just a custom base on the stock (like "Enox Rom")

Just the same as for every custom ROM: root your device, unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery and then your ready to flash ROMs. Follow the tutorial on this forum for everything about the process.

No need to upgrade to D, V20A/B is fine And unfortunately you can't relock your bootloader.

To bad, because i have two years warranty on the phone and with unlock bootloader i will lose it.
P.s.: But I can root the phone with locked bootloader, so i can change stock sms app for "8sms"?
Will be phone unroot again, if i flash with official kdz file?

great. tnx guys...
Now i can replace my official stock sms app..
I was replace official screenlock and screenlock settings from EnoxRom from system folder and i have a G2 Crystal effect lockscreen
I think this is great, becuse you can made your own modification without bootloader unlock and you don't lose your warranty.

Hi.
A was trying to replace stock sms app unimessages.apk for chomp sms.
I moved a chomp apk in system app folder and changed permission! (and did a backup for stock apk)
now chomp sms won't open. What's the problem?

just install the apk normally, and turn off notification for default sms app (it's in the options somewhere, must be). no need to install that app as system app

If anybodey need it, there is a higher verison of stock sms aplication UniMessage.apk v3.5.51....
Don't forget to delete a odex and change permission.

It's not crashing anymore :fingers-crossed:

Root v20q

Hello,
first of all I used the search and read many different threads! Anyway I couldn't find the answer to my questions. I only got more confused as I already am
I want to use the Zeus rom v6.39! I don't have root or anything. Now my question: I have v20q and want to know if I can do it as described with v20o or v20n and also use the rom?
If possible you could post the links to detailed how tos because I'm new to all that root and rom stuff:angel:
Hy luke. I have the same question and intrests about roms and root for the lgob.
I think that we could make a downgrade with smartflash to the v10a version, root it with gingerbreak and than we can install every rom that we want.
One problem: i don't know if a downgrade works with the smartflash tool and v20q. I recently asked the dev and post a question in the right thread.
Hope that we success together

Hey guys,
follow this advice to install a rooted GB on the OB. This works 100%, I have done this quite a lot of times on different OB versions (also coming from a newer base, e.g. V20n).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23833005
After this, you are rooted V20o and have CWM. If you want to install a custom rom afterwards, think about putting the rom on your SD card before doing the procedure above. With this way you will save some time...
Thanks
Hi, thanks. I'll try your soultions.
Hope that erverything works fine.

Ok thx guys! If you tell me where I can hit the thx button I will do so...
Is there any method to save my data and apps effectively? And how exactly do I put on the rom after I gained root?
"3. Download Superuser.zip and copy it in root of your SD-cart!! DO NOT EXTRACT!!" does that mean I need to have root already when I copy it on my SD cart?
The app appadmin (don't know if it is still available in the store) help you to backup all your apps.
Your contacts and phonebook can be easily synct with your google account. (Phonebook_settings_export contacts)
You can backup your sms with 'backup&restore' from the market.
No, you don't need root to put the superuser apk to your sd card. That means maybe you can creat a folder called "root" with the superuser apk in there.
Can you please tell us if you managed it to get root?

I do have zeus v6.39 now! but it doesn't look exactly like the pictures. e.g. the status bar looks like the same old android bar and not like its supposed to with zeus...
any suggestions?
Sure that you installed zeus rom? Pls look at phone settings_phoneinformations_last entries(here should you read zeus kernel or version number.

If you updated to ics through flashing....then you might be in the unlocked new boot loader...cm ROM is for the old boot loader....
It might be possible that you have messed up the partitions.....you need to use the all in one tool kit and re start after nvflashing
Hope this helps

Usually, it is misbehaving app, all sorts of ongoing syncs or old battery. Turn off syncing of apps & automatic backups, remove stock browser, and identify misbehaving app with Better Battery Stats app from Google play. Ideally, your phone is in deep sleep close to 100% when screen is off.

Dear all;
Today i finally decided to unlock the bootloader and s-off the device..but after these..my wifi was not working ...and still stucked at the turning on wifi phase.
Factory reset wiping cache did not help
I found out that i should flash a newnstock rom...but to be honest i did not find the stock 4.3 for the european device (ruu).. i found some zips but the recovery stopped at verifying package when i said install from phone...so to be honest i have no clue how to proceed
How to flash it what to do? The guides are not always complete or the links were not working... i need help i will post the info on my device..
Would you be so kind and tell me what to do?

Umh, download from mike's thread the stock rom and flash this.
Or flash only the boot.img from fastboot.
Seems a kernel "issue"

Umh, download the stock rom from mike's thread.
Now, do a nandroid backup from recovery and after flash the rom.
I think there isn't any stock rom for your version main, so the easiest solution is this
However, you've tried to erase the cache from fastboot with the command: fastboot erase cache
??
Sent from One with Tapa4
Well i tried the wipe cache/ factory reset etc etc..
In the morning (cause its 2:23 am) i will try the nandbackup(although i have no clue about that) and then a 4.3 stock flash would be reasonable or not?
Thanks

Defo kernel issue.
- Get odexed from here
http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.no/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html?m=1
Or whatever you desire
- Put the downloaded Rom on to your SD.
- Enter cwm/twrp recovery and do a nand (=backup of current ROM)
- install zip of new stock Rom.
Reboot when done.
Either this or just flash bulletproof kernel from flar. see if it gets sorted.

Well I installed TWRP, did a backup, with the default selection, after that I booted, and copied the files.,
Then I copied the odexed file to the device, booted into recovery, and installed it.
Now Wifi Works , and everything is on the "latest" release and still stock.
My question is:
What ROM-s can I try out? Only Odexed? Or Google Editions as well (from the link you provided) and if yes...
I just make a backup from the current setup, and copy it, and then recovery from the backup am I right?
But mainly my problem has been solved... So thank you very much !
Odexed or deodexed, whatever rocks your socks.. if you are gonna do some themeing of icons you need deodexed.
You are S-off and are free to flash loads of stuff.
Google edition? Sure test it out if you want to.
Sure, just back up current Rom and keep it safe on your phone if you can. Any problems occurs you can just restore it.

also the icon disappearing thing happened on my previous firmware ( before i upgraded to 4.2.2, so in my first updrage after the firmware i backed up ) always when i turned my phone off , but then i just restored it each time from Titanium Backup, with restore App+Data, and i justed wonderd why this is happening...now when i try to restore it from Titanium Backup it stucks in the loading process..

Brother you cannot restore system apps from different version of android.
Nd to downgrade first download a ftf of your country and download flashtool and install it
Second- paste the ftf in fimewires folder of flashtool folder(c:\Flashtool\firmwares)
Third-open flashtool
Fourth-click lightning botton on the top left. And select flashmode.
Fifth-click the firmware on the left
Sixth-uncheck appslog, cache nd data on the right if downgrading(to prevent bootloop nd this wipes your internal storage)
Seventh-click flash nd wait for sometime till a box pops up saying connect in flashmode.so to connect in flashnode hold volume down and connect in pc nd then let the process finish.
After 5 min it will flash and you will see flashing finished.now you have successfully downgrades yoir fimeware...enjoy

im pretty much a noob so i have some questions..ftf is a firmware like jely bean 4.1.2? what firmware is 2 times below 4.2.2? where can i find an original sony xperia Z firmware like this (i live in germany if this is importand )? and if i downgrade to the firmware i made the backup what should i then do to proceed with an upgrade whithout having problems again? i mean should i erase first titanium backup and then downlaod it after i updated and then make a new backup or something like this? And was my prediction right of what the reason was that the calling app kept disapearing by rebooting my phone?

First of all bro ftf are firmware packages.and you can get any ftf in general section of xperia z forum but you need to search a bit.
Nd if you are using titanium backup, since 4.3 cannot be rooted for now, you meight need to flash a prerooted rom and then restore your apps/data from.TB..nd for contacts, measage you can use gcloud which can be found in playstore.

Bro it does not matter which country rom you are using,,nd for installation just flash the rom in custom recovery before that wipe everything data, cache nd dalvic cache nd after instillation power off your devuce ns flash the kernel from the ftf but before flashing once read the installation procedure of the rom.

A factory reset may help, sometime is needed after update to clean up. If stll not working you maybe have some compatibility issues in what you installed.
I has try flash stock 136 firmware via flash tool, it erase everything. But, no luck. I can't understand. Could it be that due to hardware?
Edit: I flash 290 firmware with doomlord v6 and it's working back. Is it because kernel or unlock bootloader?

Bootlader have nothing to do with it and it was like I told you, you had incompatibility with the stuff which you installed in the first place.

You mean Sound Enhancement is not compatible with other applications installed in my device?
So I had revert to .136 stock ROM, but nothing change. I try some 136 rom but no luck. Only when i flash .290 firmware, it will run.

Anything can be the reason when you messing aroud with Roms, Kernels and apps, is not that simple. If is working on .290 then something wrong with .136.
Many thanks for your support. I'll stay on 290 and wait new ROM and kernel update.
