As title.....i've been used the an HTC One, i know the from what i've read, the screen on the "one"'s arguably better (and so far from what i've saw, i'd aggree). I find it's very grainy even the vids and yes it's supposed to be hd
I've been into the setting but can't find anything to "adjust" to make the csreen clearer, i know there's some kind of "film" on the screen to protect it but even at that, it's pretty bad....is it me, what am i doing wrong. I was going to sell the "One" but i'll wait
Your Firmware probably is .290 and there is not a option of White Balance Settings. You have to update to .136 to where that option is implemented to improve the screen quality. Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603730

i know it might be a silly question but if you still have the thick protection film that came with the phone you should take it down, the ASF should be almost invisible if you're wondering wether thats the ASF or not.
not if you already took it off perhaps you don't like the x-reality effect in videos, it can do a bit of oversharpening sometimes which might make things looks a bit grainy, you can turn it off under display settings. imho it's looks outstandings... i sometimes prefer to watch movies on my z1 rather than on my 15 inch FHD laptop

To the proud owners of Xperia T, does the phone come with a factory installed screen protector...
Your reply will help me to save the cost of ordering an additional screen protector...
yes it does
Yes, and the first thing I do is rip it off and don't bother with any, I find screen protectors attract dust and get to easily scratched whilst the main screen is very robust and doesn't get scratched at all....I have done this with all my xperia devices.

LOL...i do exactly the opposite....I use a screen protector but I dont like to put any case on it, as it spoils the aethetics. And to why I use screen protector is, because a scratch on the screen will keep bothering me, even though it wouldnt affect the usage...
BTW, factory installed screen protector from sony are quite good imo.
Thanks Greg and Asterix...

No, just get your fingernail under it near the top centre and pull it off, its a bit more sticky than non-factory fitted screen proteceters, but it does just pull off

Hi guys, just curious about this, I would like to remove the front screen protector of Xperia Z to get rid of the Sony logo (not hate it put prefer the front to be all black). Would this affect the phone's water resistant feature?
Have anyone tried this yet?
Besides, is the oleophobic coating of the glass affected? From the video below I think there's something wrong with his phone, the reflection looks pixelated

I have done it and it doesnt affect water resistant feature (its a film how can it affect the whole phone?)
the screen have little to no oleophobic feature, your best bet is to buy some rain-x spray it on there or buy another screen protector that have oleophobic property.
I'd leave it alone for the simple reason you'll regret it. I don't see how you could remove it, you can cover it over in some way but it's not going to look good and would be noticeable from certain angles.

It's scratches I'd be more concerned about, which is why I always stick one on top of the factory one because if or when I come to sell it, a pristine screen will get more than one that's scuffed to bits.

IT WILL SCRATCH.
IT WILL BREAK AND IT WILL SCRATCH.
My previous xperia z had antishatter removed and the screen scratched from a sand particle hidden in my microfibre cloth, if you decide or have taken of antishatter film, put on a screen protector as soon as you can. Preferably you should put on a good quality screen protector onto antishatter film. That way you will have constant new looking phone.
Which is what I've done with my NEW Xperia z.
after taking off antishatter layer on my first phone, AIthough i was trying to convince myself that it feels better, and looks better debranded,
Everytime the beautiful nostalgic sony ad came on, and the guy took out his xperia z to take a picture of his girlfriend covered in courfull dry paint. And then washed his xperia z afterwards showing off that beautiful sony logo. My heart would sink ,as I knew my phone would never look like that ever again.

No, No, Guys!
I know that is factory installed on the device ASF! I do NOT applied any film over the ASF! After much searching, I plucked up courage and removed my ASF!
Removing the ASF, my device lost the Sony logo!
My girlfriend and I can clearly see that there is another film on my device!
I can feel the relief of this film with my fingernail!
I tried to take a picture with the Xperia P my girlfriend but the device was unable to focus!
The staff removed the ASF removed this film together!
I removed ASF with my fingernail!
I'm afraid to try to remove this supposed film and damage the appliance to be something on the sensitivity of the touch, the reason why I decided to ask!
Guys, I'm seeing right now my device! Really you can clearly see it has another film that was under the ASF! Looking in curved detail of the speaker you can see the film pasted wrong!
My brother will have lunch at home tomorrow and he will bring his DSLR for me to take the photos!

It really is very strange! I even thought that came not as a extra film in the device box, Sony would have put on the device itself! But it no makes sense to put under the ASF!
Looks like I have 3x films over my glass then
Awaiting photos.
Did it peel straight off or did it leave residue? From what's bee said on the other threads it's baked on to the glass so seems really strange that you would find another one underneath it.

I believe that as the guys was removed the ASF with a needle, stiletto, knife, etc.., should be removed also this other film beneath the ASF! I removed with my fingernail!
so we have no scratch protection its just films on films on films
Here is the pics!
You can clearly see the relief of the film near the speaker!
Yes...I see it now...hmmm...interesting...

Hi guys
Currently I'm using an s3 .. But am going to buy a new phone next month and I'm confused between Xperia Z and the Htc one
The only thing which I dont like about the Z is that when using the anti shatter film , the phone doesn't have good display from some angles ..
So I've searched alot to see if there is a difference in display after removing the anti shatter film .. But I found nothing
Any ideas ?

" the phone doesn't have good display from some angles "
I think the Z's display is fantastic. The fact that the viewing angle is somewhat narrow has an upside in that ambient light seems to be blocked out more effectively.

not only that, but there are 2 things i don't understand with this "viewing angle craze":
1. what person uses their phone while looking at it from a narrow angle ?
i'd say that probably 99% of the time, everyone uses their phone looking more or less straight at the display.
2. when i look at the prices for extra foils that secure the device from people looking over your shoulder... i'd say we already have that feature for FREE !!! (you know, it's not a bug, it's a FEATURE ! ).
Also, from what i could see (and read) about FW .253 the "problem" seems to be mostly gone or can at least be minimized through the new display balance settings.
More importantly: as long as you don't have another phone to compare it with you, you most likely won't have as much of a problem with the display as everyone says.
At least i know that i don't have any problems with it, i actually love the display (but i had a Xperia Arc before, so the bigger, brighter screen with its hd resolution is rather impressive in comparrison :cyclops: )

i agree with you,, 99% smartphone users tend to view it straight on..(including me)
IMO for bad viewing angles as they say, well for me its a very good thing,, of course i dont want my seatmate or anyone reading what messages im reading on,, what if you have some transactions with and will probably they will knew about it cause of the better viewing angle.. privacy issues right..
when watching movies or photo viewing, ur not watching a movie tilted..always dead on..
and on topic with ASF,,,i suggest not to remove it.. protection for unwanted scratches yes, but the best thing to do put thin screen protctor on top ASF.. if it wont bother you..

I`m really thinking about buying one it seems like a great phone!
So Your Gaming Rig has Intel Xeon E5-2620 X4 Physical CPU`s? Right now the going price is like $400 a CPU
Or do you mean my Personal Computer?
if you consider viewing angle an important point, you better start looking at Xperia Z2 instead of Z1
things to watch out for.... the glass scratches easier than you thought, at least in my case
and Z1 still have that plastic anti shatter film on both sides, unlike Z2 which goes naked glass
you'll need a good tempered glass screen guard
Yes its the best phone ive touched !
And yes i was talking about your server no 4 physical cpus (would if could) but i have 2 Intel i7 4960X that costs about 1000 per one and they are oc'd to 4.5Ghz. so atleast same amount of speed... motherboard is EVGA SR-X 270-SE-W888-KR, videocards are Nvidia Titans x2 on SLI mode, 64Gb DDR3 ram, 2 240Gb SSDNow KC300s on RAID1 and some other stuff including self built liquid cooling etc. Case is Corsair Obsidian 900D
So yeah

Nope... not a single one... and imo the viewing angles really aren't that bad... maybe i just got good panel but colors arent washing out on me... no matter what angle... its just that there must be a "problem" on every phone.
Btw lol my gaming rig has more performance than your server

if you consider viewing angle an important point, you better start looking at Xperia Z2 instead of Z1
things to watch out for.... the glass scratches easier than you thought, at least in my case

Not really worried about viewing angles Just seen a few people complain , As long as it looks good to my eye looking directly at it .
I have just Ordered a White Z1 Brand New
Should have it tommrow. I ordered the C6903
You should've gotten the Z2 imo. It's more updated and would more likely get future proofing.

Z2 has its own bugs... like mic is really bad and back glass is loose and lots of software bugs... ofc there is fixes coming but still... $50 more for what ? slightly better camera optimization and smart call handling ?

I don't know. Maybe for the front facing speakers and the IPS display. Which is a big improvement imo because IPS display is just beautiful and since I like to watch movies a lot, the front facing speakers is what I prefer.

Yup, but its not so big of a deal to me, like i said, maybe i got good panel but my Z1 screen is really good... aand the speakers are bit quieter but i dont mind since i dont use them much... smartwatch handles notifications and basicly only thing i need speakers when im with friend and its really enough for that... For me, Z1 does fine, Best phone ive touched !
