Dead pixel? - LG G Flex

broken camera and 2 dead pixels out of the box

I received my shipment today.
The very first thing I did after signing in was update the system to 4.1.1.
After playing for a few minutes I noticed a dead or stuck pixel on the right side of the screen. I ran the display test app and found another dead pixel in the middle of the screen.
I tried the camera with Google hangouts and Skype and all I get is garbled green signal. Using the nexus 7 camera launched yielded the same result.
Doing a full factory reset did not fix the problems.
Needless to say this going back. I'm disappointed that this excellent device is having these quality issues.
I have a single dead pixel on the very edge. It's only visible on a completely black screen so I'm gonna live with it.
Good luck with your return.

I would recommend you get it exchanged. At the end of the day its still a defect. Maybe wait a little while so they have more stock to ship another one.

I got mine from staples so I'll have to deal with them. I'll wait until they have stock.

They have a little thing in the booklet. I think its referring to dead pixels. It was kind of confusing tho

Edit: never mind, I see it in the warranty booklet under the LCD defect policy

Dead pixels

Just found about 8 dead pixels when testing with a black background. Now that I found them you know they will bother me lol. You guys may want to check for them. You can use dead pixel checker from the play store and set it to black. Look closely, the more noticeable ones are when multiple dead pixels are grouped together.

I seem to remember some Windows software for LCD screens that would "coax" dead pixels back to life by rapidly cycling the colors sent to them or something like that... Might want to see if such software exists for Android...

I'm not trying it out. If I was to find one I would be calling att with a warranty claim first thing in the morning.

I agree, I wish I didn't know lol. I am running the "fix" let's see how it goes. I finally stopped getting the "return your defective phone" alerts from AT&T... I really don't want to go through that again...
EDIT: dead/stuck pixel test didn't work, I ran it for 30 minutes

For now I will hold off, I do not feel like setting everything up again... I just went through the process of replacing it a few months ago and it was so annoying, they messed up 2 times and it took 3 times to get me the right device and ship it to the right house... I will give it a few weeks and call and see if I can just go to a repair place and have them toss a new screen in it or replace it on the spot. I would like to know if anyone else is having this issue so I can know if it is even wroth fixing... if more people have this issue the chances are the replacement screen will too.

I have droidwall installed, and I installed dead pixel checker. First of all, I'm curious as to why the app needs full network access if all it's doing is displaying full color screens one after another. Droidwall did catch it trying to send off 4 packets to some ip address.
No dead pixels that I could detect while using the app, there were some narrow vertical lines that looked a bit off but I think that's because I have a Ghost Armor screen protector on, and those are from the 'glue' or whatever keeps the screen protector adhered to the Gorilla Glass.
I have one dead pixel right, top corrner
I finally broke down and downloaded one of the pixel check apps off of the play store. I can't remember the name of it because once I was done I uninstalled it. Anyway, I'm good. Seeing this thread tempted me to damn much not to try it out.

There is a few software and physical ways of sorting these but it’s not guaranteed plus it should be covered under your warranty.
My first device had > 14 damaged pixels, 4 of them would show even on lower brightness levels. My new device has a few too - but I can't see them under normal conditions. Found them via magnifying glass (black screen, max brightness)... Don't do that - you will probably find some

Screen flush to the body

Is your screen flush on the top and bottom where it meets the watch?
Mine only in the bottom, screen sticks up higher than watch.
Is that normal or a defect?

hi guys just curius but what does screen flush mean? i looked it up at google images but i couldnt figure out what it is
Flush- even, level, flat.
When you feel the glass touch screen and the metal body; it should be flush.

White G2 from Verizon

Am I the only one anxious for the white G2? The only thing that can make this phone better is white with a nice ugly Verizon badge on it!

White makes me think Apple so I am not a fan. Lol.
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
I was waiting for the white version but couldn't pass up the sale Verizon had through the 11th. Got mine off contract for $449.
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
Was at Verizon earlier just happened to ask the two about the white G2 and he said they're not releasing one.
That means it's imminent.

Haha, very true. Amazing how they can just sit there and deny! I'm on my 14th day with the black one and trying to decide whether I should return the phone or not.

I went in tonight to my local VZ store and they didn't get any white ones in. Which is fine since I preferred the black anyway, but i wanted to at least look at the white one in person. Oh well, G2 is very nice, I am quite impressed, coming from the Nexus of course, like most it seems lol
they deny because they want to make a sale right then and there.
When they supposed to get them in? Will they let you swap for color?
How would you go about it?

There are pictures of it in white and I read one rumor last week that it would be out yesterday, which obviously didn't come true. Of course they won't let you switch colors, only if it's in your 14 day return policy. I think I'll just activate my old S4 I return my G2 for now. I hate to give it up because I love the phone but I would really regret it if the white come out soon. I could deal with black if I knew white wasn't coming, but @evleaks is usually pretty accurate.
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
I'm waiting as well. My wife really wants the white one since she thinks the black has a little blueish tint to it. However I need a phone by Thursday so I may order a G2 in black today (since there are some great prices around) and then just wait till Thursday to activate it in case the G2 in white comes along and isn't $150-200. I gather the process of returning will be much easier if I have not activated the phone or even opened the box.

I am guessing that if you called Verizon and they said they are not carrying it, while that means absolutely nothing to me it probably means it is not sitting in the back of the store so I'm guessing it would not be released before next Tuesday.

The effects of the curve

After using this phone.. Has anyone tried looking at a flat phone and see the corners bending backwards? I know they're not but the flex has made my eyes seem like the corner of other phones look like they're bending away from me.
Give me some of that stuff your smokin. Hehe

Omg I thought it was just me! For a while, every time I used my Nexus 4 it looked bent to the back until my eyes got used to it. With a case on the Flex, (or at least my case) the curve is less prominent so it helps if you switch to a flat phone every now and then.

I thought yall were crazy but I picked up my sons Nextbook 7 to root it last night and it seemed as if it was curved the opposite way from our curve. WEIRD.

I noticed this with my wife's new phone and tried to explain it. She cared about as much as you'd expect... which is not at all. It is significant though. It really messes with your eyes.
Ha ha thought I was going crazy when I grabbed my n5

I sold my Nexus 7 since I wasn't using it and just prefer one device. Maybe I'll pick up my wife's HTC One and see.

I haven't noticed the bending backwards, but when I picked up my wife's iPhone 5s, I couldn't believe how small it is! I was afraid I was going to break it. Pictures looked bad, because they were so small, items were hard to click on, it was horrible!
Heck try using a iPhone 4 it blew my mind almost thought it was fake cause it was so small.but any phone I look at not beside the flex seems to look like its bending out

I told this to my friend when I was using his note 2. The corners look like they're bending out and theres a ball in the center. So weird. kind of like convex and our phones are concave
