Urgent Help Required. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know a lot of people will curse me for opening this thread but i really need help. I have searched and could not find my query resolved and i have no other choice left except to post here,
So my dad randomly gave me Galaxy Note (Indian version) today. I mean, this phone is 3 years old. Anyway, i have Sony Xperia L and Xperia SP as my daily drivers and flashing Roms, kernels is quite easy on them as i only require flashtool. I have never before used a samsung product. So, i do not have a clue on how to root it and flash CM/AOSP on it.
I searched quite a lot and came upon a rooting guides and Philz kernel but i have no idea what to do.
Any help would be appreciated, all i want to do is flash a custom Rom (CM 10.1, CM11)
Android 4.1.2 sucks on this beast.
Android: 4.1.2
Baseband: N7000DDLS6
Build No.: JZO54K.N7000DDLSC
UPDATE: So i flashed a .zip:- PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT9-ORA-5.11.2-signed and voila, i have root ;
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot
Regards,
Ishaan

Didn't you try the cm installer app?
Anyway once you have Philz kernel installed, you can flash the cm 10.1\10.2 zip from recovery. To flash cm 11 you will need to first install raw r4/5 kernel and then go with cm 11.

I appreciate your reply man
Yes I have his kernel the one I have named in the OP.
So I just need to flash cm10/10.1 from recovery?
No need to unlock bootloader or anything or flash a cm based kernel? :$

Ishaan

So i pretty much messed everything up.
I did as you said and download cyanogenmod installer on both my note and laptop. Everything was going fine and all files were downloaded.
But all of a sudden, CM installer on PC said something like device not found. And on note, there was the CM logo. So i pressed retry but the problem persisted.
So i turned of cm installer, removed battery from device and turned it on. Below the Samsung Galaxy note, there is a yellow triangle and after that the screen goes blank. No samsung or CM bootlogo.
I tried and i am able to get into recovery and download mode. What do i do guys? :'(
Just help me get back to stock and ill be happy.
Thanks in advance

N7000 does not have a lock bootloader at all.

EDIT: So flashed CM10.2 (4.3.1). Finally the phone is working. Flashed it manually through recovery.
Still getting the yellow error icon.
Only 2 things i require now,
How to get back on complete stock firmware? (4.1.2 INDIAN)
AND,
Remove the stupid error?
Thanks a lot Guys :'D

Thank you man
I flashed stock GB Indian version and even the triangle went away. So far so good.
Currently I am on Ultimate Rom v6 with speedmod kernel. The battery life is not impresive.
Any idea how to increase it? Any suggested rom or kernel?
Fyi- I'm using an original samsung battery. Bought a week ago so its brand new.

Why did you name this "Urgent Help Needed" when it obviously isn't urgent and doesn't say anything about what the problem concerns?
Since the battery is new then you should be getting at least 4h on screen time.

Try the latest for your region...
The lower down on the list, the newer the rom
Meaning it's rooted doesn't mean it has a different ROM.

yup it's means it rooted. In my opinion AbyssNote kernel is better from the original kernel.
I am using rooted LA4 with bloatware removed and using franco's 6 kernel. the phone is working better than stock rom without any issues, freeze ups or slow/lags. The hell with custom roms, the stripped stock with franco kernel is the best combo for me. This is very close to stock rom yet better.
use the ics chinese leak ....n i m 100 % sure it wont disappoint u a bit the battery is awesome i have used every rom for note but this is the best..supersmooth..

Oh so how can i install this chinese leak Ics version , is there a guide ? is it possible to get it on my device and is it safe ? hehe sorry too many questions . 1 last question tho , i got this yellow triangle logo whenever i boot up the phone, anyone know what this is ?
Here is a guide for ICS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509703
If you have yellow triangle, that means previous owner flashed custom roms using PC odin, and increased the binary count which voided your phone's warranty ...
You can still remove that yellow triangle using USB JIG, just search "samsung usb jig yellow triangle" in google, you will find plenty of SII tutorials and youtube video clips, which work for Note as well

Clean reinstall ICS - need help choosing the right ROM

Getting sick of the ICS battery and kernel issues and have decided to clean out the phone and install everything fresh.
I am currently on an unrooted stock ICS ROM (N7000XXLRK) and understand that I should go back to a GB ROM first then install ICS. I will search on here for a guide on how to do it (links welcome ) but am confused as to which ROM I should use of the many stock ROMs posted on here.
Since I am going to do a clean install, is it worth going back to the XXLRK ROM or is there an improved one which has sorted the battery kernel issues out? Which GB ROM can I safely go back to without confusing things before I reflash ICS?
Is it recommended that anything else is added or flashed while I have the hood up? Unless there is an uber stable custom ROM I want to stay stock, but will want to root it.

upgrading to the latest ICS kernel doesn't necessarily guarantee that your deep sleep and excessive battery usage woes will go away.... your deep sleep and battery drain issues are subjective and have lots of factors that might contribute to it.
Don't let the notion fool you into thinking that your issues(above) will simply be resolve by simply upgrading to the latest firmware. Because I'll tell you now.. it will not still. (infact there have been people complaining that upgrading to the latest ICS one have increase more their battery drain than ever before), unusual as it may seem... but it has been complained about already.
Just like to let you know that...

First thing I am just wondering why this quoting is broked ? looks like something is broken in this thread.
Second thing I didn't advised anyone (not the op) that your issues will be resolved by just doing the things mentioned above. Confused ? Third I was just answering him the question he asked in "OP"
Fourth if you are facing deep sleep issues or your device is not going to deep sleep mode then OP can try this..
Turn ON the Airplane Mode.
Switch Off your Phone.
Take the battery OUT for a minute or TWO
Put it back and start your phone.
Wait for everything to load
Turn off the Airplane Mode.
After that you can check the same in CPUSPY

Thanks for that.
I have tried the method you describe and also looked at CPUSpy with BBS and on top of that I have the keyboard lockup issue too in Chrome.
It seems that the quality of the phone is completely lower since the ICS updates with it not providing a full day of use on one charge as well as me having to be careful about bleutooth/wifi usage and time that I use the phone to surf. Quite ridiculous really and I haven't had to use a smartphone like this since the days of the HTC Diamond.
Before I revert back to GB and be done with it, I want to try an nice clean ICS install and give it one last chance, unless there is a custom ICS ROM you think I should consider.

Yes, using pc odin you can flash what you like. If you want good battery, it's worth doing a clean install ie perform data wipe/factory reset to clear any old mess, obviously if you're going onto ics make sure you have a safe kernel before performing any wipes at all.
To be honest though, for ICS you're getting pretty good battery life, I doubt you'll top it except going back to GB.
All the best, let us know how you get on.

Yes, I understand that WipeAll is the best way. But this mean, flash safe kernel = root (or can i just flash safe kernel on my stock ICS via PC odin? )
And root ICS = go to GB directly rooted kernel and....etc.
In my old Galaxy Spica I have change kernel or mod (rom) every month but was always just 2.2 froy. So no worry about it.
And still i am reading all thread of all rom in XDA. No rom is perfect. Its working but sometimes some bugs...so i am tired (2 years with Spica) of looking for the best kernel for my note.
Now i want just one normal working with a little good live of battery
btw. What is your live of battery on custom kernel 4.0.3. ? If you say i have pretty good battery i will not it change

Firstly battery: ics swallows a lot more juice than gb, so what you're getting is pretty good. I'm currently on paranoid android jb beta 1.4 with Beastmode kernel and getting roughly 8 hours with 4 hours screen on. I use it a lot! When I was on pure ics 4.03 I was getting around the same.
Roms and kernels: if you flash an already rooted gb, you can do so now with pc odin and it will automatically root. When you've done that, check to see if cwm is installed as it may be part of the package in which case your good to go, if not just flash a Chainfire kernel. Then you have cwm recovery (vol up, home and power) and flash this rom package which includes a safe kernel.
Hope that makes sense.

I presume these ROMs have their kernels built in.
Would you thus recommend one of these custom ROMs for my requirements over say stock ICS with perhaps a different kernel? I am not really looking for lots of features as I would like to build up the apps on my own, ie shut out bloatware. I would like it to be stable and have at least 15 hours of battery life with 3-4 hours screen time, which is what I enjoyed with GB. How do you think CM9 fits in with your selection?
Last flashing I did was on a Dell Streak which was easy as there was only DJ Steve at the time, Seems with the Note I am starting again from scratch, completely different flash process and loads of ROMs. Sort of blinded by it all to be honest

Some problems after installing Ultimate JB 5.1
I came from CyanogenMod 9.1.0 Stable.
On the whole Ultimate JB 5.1 is good but:
1) Bad battery life - the wifi stays on 24x7 even though I mention only when charging.
2) The Google search doesn't include options for Evernote and Google Drive and other apps. I don't know if it is specific to this Rom or JB.
3) I can't go back to CM9. The package doesn't install anymore. Do I need to change the kernel in Ultimate JB 5.1 first?

I wanted to post this on the much larger thread in the development section but it says newbies can't post there :crying:
is it error 7 in recovery when installing new rom? then you will need to change the kernel. but keep in mind that the other kernel you try might not be compatible with this rom and thus you will have access to recovery /download mode only. make sure you have all the required files to flash the rom before hand
Hello all,
I'm from indonesia and currently I'm on ultimate ROM 4.1.2 V5.1 from joosh and I had a problem everytime made a phone call.
The phone call always hang up or disconnect after couple times. It never let me make a phone call more than 3-5 minutes.
What do u think guys? Is it because the modem or because I had a bad signal from operator? How can I find a solution for this kind of problem...
At the first time I thought it was just a bad signal. But it happened all the time when I had a long phone call
Thanks guys and will appreciated any explanation.
Happy New Year to u all

Random reboots into recovery

Hello xda
I know there quite a few posts out there with people detailing their phones rebooting randomly but my phone just hit a new level of weird.
My i9000 reboots randomly into cwm recovery menu for no good reason (I know there is another thread about this but that instance is on the Nexus S and the thread has basically died). This started occurring shortly after I flashed slim ROM 4.2.2 build 5 (came from CM10.1 nightlies). Flashing the rom again and updating it to build 6 has done nothing to alleviate the issue.
I'm using the Semaphore kernel with no OC or changed settings, and having recently bought a new battery, I'm really not sure where to start looking for the problem.
If anyone can give me some tips it'd be greatly appreciate, thanks in advance.

If anyone can give me some tips it'd be greatly appreciate, thanks in advance.

hi
randomly i will got this problem if i m flashing backward. like from 4.2.2 - 4.2.1, or 4.1.x to 4.0.x. or repeatedly changing between kernel (i always do this to modified ROM to suits my settings n need) its probably due to changing partition in system or kernel clash (even i did all wipe) in internalsd.
Sorry to say. it will come worst sometimes if u ignore da problem or keep flashing ROM to avoid it. 'Luckily' about 2 hour ago my sgs just did. Constantly booting to recovery n its juz bootloop between kernel splashscreen n sgs white splashscreen after it.3 combo button will not working for recovery n only download mode accessible.
no more method for me . Juz flashing back to stock firmware JVU +CF-ROOT with odin was da answers
but if u dont familiar with odin.seek guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149455
but use it as ur last method!
clashing between titan.....no! kernel maybe da reason.do some wiping before changing kernel or ROM. n format system if necessary before flashing!

Reboots into CMW with Slim Bean 4.3 and Semaphore
Hi guys, any news on the subject? Exactly the same thing happening to me. I did a clean installation of Slim 4.3, after using CM10 and everything seems to be working perfectly except it reboots into CWM every 1-2h!!! I haven't changed any configuration and didn't mess with the kernel that came with the ROM, which is Semaphore... Is it a kernel issue? Should I try to flash the latest version?

I run into the same problem with my current update of my I9000 to CM 10.2.1 and the Semaphore Kernel 3.3.0 (JB).
Any ideas on this issue from the pros?
I realized that it was happening to me only when I was loosing the network coverage, like being in the underground or roaming or things like that... I don't know if it happens to everyone but in my case it's definitely this. If there is no network available my phone will boot into recovery after a while. If the signal is OK, it doesn't happen. Maybe it has something to do with the modem?!

Deactivate Deepidle in Semaphore manager app and these reboots should be gone.
Did the trick for me.

[Q] [ Need HELP ] .. Not Kernel Panic .. Upload Mode

Dear all XDA Developers
i have samsung galaxy note n7000, after we got the official JB update the device went to be so slow, so i choosed to downgrade it to ICS and i download the sogtware image from (www.samsung-updates.com) as i told it should be official software images.
and i downloaded the ODIN v3.09 for pc, connect the phone and install, it fiinished successfully, AFTER that i start to got the error, the phone shutdown suddenley and got the screen said "RST_STAT 0x2000000 User Fault, not kernel panic, upload mode"
i tried to install again and still have the same error the it is random no specific time, then i download and install the Philz and wipe the phone as for install a new ROM and install the same image then got the same error after two days.
my request is how to solve this problem and where to download an official ICS for my GT-N7000
i hope to find the solution here in XDA developers
best regards
No one can help??!!!!
Is this issue so difficult and there is no solution or any idea about solving it??
It depends on how you choose. Going your path back to official ics could be problematic. So i would just go forward install a custom jb rom such as Aryamod then the problem is solved and u will have a beautiful and fast rom. Done.

Also, stock ics is known to brick phones.
as i got the official JB via update the device is too slow, so would that problem solved when installing a custom rom? and which rom should i choose? and the problem now is with the device hardware? or just the ics??
as i searched before it on the internet i found that this is a GPS problem!! how can i check that please??

Did you read my post at all? It has got most of the answers. Trying to flash a custom jb using Philz kernel you already have is quite easy

1stly, After getting JB update from OTA, it's recommended to do a factory wipe in stock recovery (This is what Samsung CS told me). I tried and it works (at the expense of having all my data n apps gone).
2nd, Like @forest1971 says, there's many good custom Roms And you can choose per your liking. I strongly oppose going back to ICS as of the brick bug threat. If you really want to downgrade, might as well go for GB.
3rd, WHAT is the point of our good Dev's spending their precious time and cracking their heads to come up with a custom rom IF they are not BETTER than Stock roms?

Installing through odin is the best method for flashing stock rom. You have done it right. Just remember NEVER to do a factory reset anywhere with ICS. Not even in recovery
