Sprint Htc One - Phone is stuck in bootloader. It is not rooted. (had the issue trying to root it) There is no OS installed as i think i erased the internal storage.
Tampered
Unlocked.
S-ON
HBOOt - 1.56
OS 4.06.651.4
I have philz_touch_5.08.5-m7spr as my recovery. When i go to "choose zip from sdcard, it says E: Cant't mount /sdcard/. So i tried sideloading insertcoin-m7-7.1-4 rom. I was successful in sideloading it, but when installing, i get the error message set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed. I have also tried a different rom (OrDroid 40.0.1) but get the same message halfway through. I have tried openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-m7wls but that had the same issue except, it wouldn't even go to sideload. it just says failed.
I have also tried the RUU software, but my versions dont match and it seems you cant go from a higher version to a lower one?
Anything i can do to solve the issue?
Look HERE ...use the 4.06.651.4 s-on firmware.
When you get to the part where it says to adb push a rom to your phone use a 4.4.2 Sprint rom
Did you read this? It might be outdated so im not sure if it will still work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258809
I think you have 2 options:
1. Try to S-Off so you can run any RUU (not sure if there is a s-off for hboot 1.56 or if you can even s-off without internal data).
2. Wait for the new RUU to come out (not sure when its coming out).

Ok i followed all the steps and here is what happened. When flashing the 4.06 firmware in fastboot mode, my htc one's screen displayed the HTC logo and a progress bar underneath it. It stopped at what looked like 90%. and doesent complete. But the terminal on my computer said it was complete. so i just rebooted it into fast boot mode and continued on the instructions. I unlocked the bootloader again and flashed twrp 2.6.3 m7wls I formatted the data like it said to do. And after wards i adb pushed cm-11-20140208-NIGHTLY-m7spr. When i got to the sd card to install it, it says failed.

INTRODUCTION
It seems that a lot of Canadians are having this problem, so I decided to make a guide on how to bypass it. For my guide on flashing RUUs on the Canadian IS, click here.
THE PROBLEM
People with a Canadian Incredible S are continually getting the "Model ID Incorrect" error. This error occurs because the Canadian IS has the model ID PG3212000 while it seems every other IS has the ID PG3213000, which is blocking us from installing it... But luckily there is a way to fix this error.
THE SOLUTION
NOTE: It seems many people are having problems. After reflashing my phone and S-OFF'ing it again I had the same problem. Turns out ENG S-OFF is needed for this! Find out how to install it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1070348
To install a PG3213000(Any non-Canadian Incredible S) radio on a PG3212000(a Canadian Incredible S) follow these instructions:
1. go to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12870734&postcount=1 and download whichever radio matches your rom...
2. extract the file you just downloaded and open up the file called: "android-info.txt" in WORDPAD...
3. In the text file change the first line saying "modelid: PG3213000" to "modelid: PG3212000" and go File -> Save.
4. Rezip the file and make sure you call it: "PG32IMG.zip". Copy it the root of your SD card.
5. Reboot your phone in bootloader and let it install... DONE!

which one do you find works best with the bell is?
It all depends on what ROM you're using... You always want to use the radio recommended for the ROM... if it's a RUU, the radio is already in it.
I'm on the Virtuous Unity 1.26.0 ROM and oddly enough there isn't a reccomended ROM.
Also is this way any different than extracting the radio image and pushing it through fastboot?
Both have the same results, but this doesn't require andriod sdk, any work in command prompt, or ENG S-OFF... And I would recommend the 20.2804.30.085AU_3805.04.03.22_M radio
I was wondering how to do this since I need to update my radio to install CM7. Thanks so much for the tutorial!!
Hey can you use this guide when trying to flash a ruu? It never works when trying to flash a RUU because of Model ID incorrect... I am stuck in bootloader because of that...

I have tried that before and it did not seem to work... All it did was install the HBOOT and radio from the RUU and then it rebooted my phone...So essentially all it did was revert my phone back to S-ON... I will keep playing around with RUUs and will release a guide if/when I figure out how to flash them.

Reflash a Gingerbread radio... Unfortunately it is currently impossible to downgrade your radio from Gingerbread to Froyo... It will put you into a never ending boot up loop.
Wait... Are you saying you successfully flashed a GB RUU? How?

No it doesn't work... It was only when I was S-Off that I installed Android Revolution rom and that upgraded me to gingerbread... Well after that I accidently did a hard reset which removed my S-off and I am now stuck in bootloader with ***Security Warning***. The only way to fix it is by flashing a stock RUU but since this is Bell IncS only Sasktel rom works and I cannot flash that because I get the error "Main Version is Older" error.
Noob here. What's RUU?

I don't know what you can do to fix that, unfortunately... Post a question in the general forum and hope that someone can help you out with more information...
Edit: :O maybe that's why the RUU didn't complete the installation and rebooted my phone! The radio was newer then the version in the Optus RUU?!?! Omg that might have been my problem...

RUU is an acronym for ROM Update Utility... It is an official update for the phone which makes it as though it was new and seem like it was never tampered with(no root, no custom recovery, not custom HBOOT, returns you to S-ON, etc).
I believe this has been posted elsewhere, but if you are unable to flash your radio AND you are already ENG S-OFF the following works perfectly.
Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WIWVHF7O
Make sure HTC Sync is installed
Extract ZIP to a folder and from that folder run the following:
1. Connect your phone into a PC, and make sure that USB Debugging is enabled
2. Type: "adb reboot bootloader"
3. Once your phone is in bootloader (white screen with text), type "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
4. When the flashing completes, type "fastboot reboot"
This works on any version of the IS, including the Canadian one. I included the recommended radio, however any radio can be used by replacing the radio.img file.
Other radios here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14834003&postcount=1

Yes, I know, but this makes it so that ENG S-OFF is not required as it is a little bit overkill... Plus, I used this as my basis in an attempt to installing RUUs on the Canadian version of the IS, since I was told it is not possible unless I XTC clip it... I proved those people wrong.
It doesn't seem to work for me.
I edited the android-info.txt file, re-zipped and placed the file onto the sd card. When I reboot into hboot, it says "Loading PG32IMG.zip" then "Parsing" then nothing else happens.
EDIT: Never mind, I got it to work using the other method.

Hey guys,
I screwed up my Incredible S, I'm stuck in the HTC screen and if I volume down+power, it goes to that hboot screen and if I select recovery, I go to revolutionary (so I can't warranty)...
I tried using A LOT of "stock" roms, tried RUU etc but nothing seems to be working...
Also, it used to be on the optus 2.3.5

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to restore back to stock for warranty?
If so, you need to follow this procdure so that you can overwrite the Revolutionary HBOOT with an RUU.

Well, the phone doesn't work at all at the moment so getting it back to work would be good. If it's getting it back to stock then sure, I'll do that
"1. Install RUU ROM from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1033922"
Link doesn't work =/
I'm assuming it is this one: RUU_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_Optus_AU_2.12.980.2_R_Radio _20.2803.30.085AU_3805.04.03.12_M_release_185028_s igned
My phone was running optus before I stuffed it.
Also, what do I do to install, if I run RUU and follow the steps, it will just and and say it can't do it. Do I copy the rom.zip file and rename it to PG32IMG.zip then put it on a USB and go to bootloader?
I seem to be getting "signature verify fail"...
This thread seems to look exactly like my problem but it seems to be much more confusing...

OK, start the process beginning at Step 2. Don't worry about step 1 for now.
So first you need to prepare the Revolutionary HBOOT to be overwritten by following step 2.
Then you should be able to run the RUU or as you stated, extract the ROM.zip, rename it PG32IMG.zip on your SD card and boot into bootloader.

Here is a link to the optus 2.3.5 ruu http://d-h.st/cGj
You're not s-off if you're getting signature error. Were you ever s-off or just unlocked bootloader? If unlocked bootloader only, you will have to lock it before running the ruu.
How exactly do you "downgrade HBOOT"?
I managed to install virtuous quattro yesterday but then...my WiFi, parts of the touchscreen and the bottom 4 touch buttons don't work.
Strange problem.

Boy you are all over the board on this thread. First you asked how to get back to stock s-on for warranty and now you are asking about downgrading the hboot to go back to s-off.
You have been given links for removing Revolutionary S-Off and flashing the Optus RUU. I suggest you follow those to get your phone straightened out first before going any further.
So, with all the excitement of just getting my HTC one on saturday, I got down to business today doing some rooting. This is not my first htc device, i owned the evo 4g before.
With that said, What I did was have a rooted stock rom. I never flashed a new rom to the phone at all. I was trying to do the HTC logo button hack, I downloaded the kernel and flashed away. well, now the problem is the phone will start up and get to where the lock screen should be, It will show the status bar at the top and thats it, hangs for about 20 seconds and then restarts
It constantly does this... I have just updated the sprint software maybe 1.31 something? it was OTA I did before rooting.
I have tried to sideload a rooted odexed stock rom and have not had any success. I also tried running the sprint RUU but it was for 1.29, so it got almost to the end and told me it couldnt do it.
I am working from a mac, but have access to PC if needed. I am using clockwork mod recovery and can still get into it. just stuck on where to go from here..
All help is appreciated, ive spent the last 7 hours trying to fix this problem!
Guys, I am without a phone until this issue is fixed, any and all help is appreciated!!!

Do you have a rom downloaded on your phone? Did you make nandroid? If yes just restore. Do you have otg cable? If yes, download a rom. Do full wipe, cache, dalvik cache, data, and system. Try flashing the rom from otg. What kernel did you flash?
Sent from my lair.
The guy who made the htc one logo hack made a kernel that he released, I flashed that on top of the stock sprint rom. I had a nandroid, but it got wiped. I do not have an OTG cable. I have tried to sideload various roms and I can get it to boot, but I get no cell signal, sometimes i get the error that the system is not responding and i have the option to wait or kill.
I have gotten into the baseband settings and see that I do not have a baseband in there, maybe thats the issue? Also I just took the 1.31 ota update, I am getting an error using the sprint RUU about the boot loader not being correct version. from the fastboot screen I have the following
perhaps bad boot.img??

A flashed kernel will overwrite your boot.img, so that really shouldn't be it. An RUU requires your bootloader be locked though, which is probably part of your issue.

problem with that though, I do not see a windows executable from there. the other issue is im using a mac, as far as i know everything works the same when it comes to adb and fastboot.
How would I flash a zip file if I cannot access my recovery? for instance how do I push the file to my device? when i relock the phone, and try to enter recovery, i get routed right back to bootloader
Figured out the issue, turned out that the problem came from firmware being absent... I was able to reflash the firmware and away it went, able to get into the phone now and do what i please!
Thanks for all help from everyone!!!
Starting point: android 4.4.3 hboot 1.57, bootloader unlocked.
I wanted to play some with my phone. I flashed recovery via adb (TWRP) and after that I wiped system, cache and internal memory from recovery. My downloaded ROM (Insert Coin) was on internal memory so now I'm stuck. I can enter recovery and that's pretty much all. I tried sideloading and it moved file correctly but when I tried installing this "sideload.zip" file it gave me error after several seconds, something like unable to open the file. Can someone help me with this problem? Thanks in advance
In the mean time, before installing recovery, I flashed new kernel (bulletproof) - I don't know if that may be the cause.

Try version 2.6.3.3 if you have a GSM HTC One m7
Thank you for your response. Fortunately it worked after third or fourth time. Dunno why 0.o. And another question I wanted to do S-off but firewater says something about being unable to do this: "whelp, this sucks..." I remember acquiring s-off sometime ago (on different hboot though) so why?
Whelp this sucks means Firewater won't work on your phone. Only choice is using sunshine. It will cost you $25 but it does work

You should be able to use firewater. I have the HTC One M7 as well (with T-Mobile) and I used firewater to S-Off my phone. I just know that you need to have an internet connection for it to work. Also try revone or moonshine.
Revone or moonshine do not work on new hboots. Nor will Firewater work if you get the whelp this sucks message. Like I said, sunshine or nothing
Hmm ok. Well anyways I'm not sure why it didn't work for OP. I used firewater and it went just fine.
So about 6 months ago a friend wanted to root his sprint m8, i had a tmobile one at the time and rooted it and s-off'd it successfully so i did his phone for him, however firewater didn't work for s-off and he didn't want to pay the 25 for sunshine. fast forward to yesterday and he wanted to go back to stock to turn in his phone for an upgrade, so i tried to restore his stock nandroid, but he deleted it. so then i attempted to relock the bootloader and flash the ruu. The ruu failed, and now im stuck in fastboot, twrp is gone, so i can't get a backup restored. I'm hoping their is some other way i can can return his phone to stock. I feel stuck and out of my depth, so i'm hoping someone can help, thanks.

As much info as you can give would be better.

Sounds like you are trying to use an older RUU.
The latest can be found here.

No, that's where I initially got the first RUU, when it failed i tried to use an older one and the same thing happened. I used this one. http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_..._NV_SPCS_1.52_003_release_426232_signed_2.exe Which was the very top one for sprint, non hk. and I locked the bootloader again so it would work.

If the phone is s-on you cannot flash an older RUU.
Make sure you drivers are installed correctly.
Make sure you are using a USB2 port.
Post the info from bootloader please...really just the hboot version.
Post a copy of getvar all also please.

ok so hboot version says 3.19.0.0000, i am on a usb 2.0 port, i am not sure how to paste my copied text from the cmd prompt into this box so i just pasted it to a .txt file and attached that and it has all the getvar all info. thanks for the help.
Everything is current according to the getvar...go ahead and remove it as it contains the imei #
The latest RUU should work.
Maybe try downloading Sync Manager to update the drivers or try a different PC/usb port.
Low and behold i was in a 3.0 port lmao... smh... so you just saved me beating my head against the wall for god knows how much longer, thanks for the help, the ruu is working fine now:fingers-crossed:
