I'm debating on downloading another launcher. But I'm worried about it bogging down the phone now or later. How's the performance on stock Roms? What do you run?
It's hit or miss. I use the Google Experience Launcher on a stock Moto X amd a srock Nexus 7. Some launchers are smooth, some jittery, just depends on your device and that particular launcher. Nova was my favorite prior to GEL.

How is hangouts for you with GEL? It gets unbearably slow for me with GEL even installed, using it or not.
Definitely Nova launcher. So many options not available with GEL.
Sent from my Dev Edition Moto X
I like GEL. No problems with hangouts at all, I only use it for gchat though, I prefer the regular sms app for texting.
I find to use nova you need nova prime but defiantly much better than gel I hate the Google search thing at the top

one more vote for nova....been using since my galaxy nexus....never a problem.
Nova all the way. Works amazingly well, especially aosp or close to aosp devices. The only mishaps on non aosp devices such as touchwiz I've ever noticed is once in a blue moon you need to select it as default launcher. But very rare.

I really like apex launcher. My default launcher for several devices now.
i like Buzz launcher been using it sense i got my x
before i used Go launcher
and smart launcher
Used Nova Prime for many years. Been using Action Launcher Pro lately and really like it. Nice balance of speed, relative simplicity and some unique features.
Apex is my launcher of choice. Though, I did like the GEL launcher, it doesn't work so well with my Galaxy Note 8 in the latest version. I like to use the same launcher for all my devices.
I'm a fan of Go Launcher EX, been using it for about a year and no complaints.

When I use Hangouts (not often) it works fine. I use Evolve SMS for text messages.
I tried to resist, but in the end I have to admit Nova Launcher is one of the best.
If you want a superbly fast launcher that categorize your apps try Smart Launcher.
Nova for me. I've used both but nothing beats the customization options I have.

Love Nove Prime. And Love Apex. I own both. On my Razr Maxx I used Nova mostly. But I have been with Apex on my moto X. Its more themeable to me my liking. Never a problem for speed that I can tell.
I've got Nova Prime on my X, and it works flawlessly.

+1. I don't know what they could do to improve beyond Nova either. Trebuchet has a lot of work to do itself...
Much much much better than Nova!
It fits the Nexus S like a glove unlike Nova
I really like this launcher compared to Nova, but the deal breakers are:
* No ability to change icons
* Dock doesn't loop
Love the launcher tho just wish these features were present.

I'm with you here, I feel that Nova is an excellent improvement over the already good ICS launcher. The backup feature is brilliant for me.
I'll give this a try, there's always room in my life for more than one launcher
I need this for my trusty Gingerbread ROM.
Best launcher!

Smoother than Nova and Trebuchet for me.
What's the best launcher for the N7? If other, please specify which one.
In my opinion, I enjoy using NOVA.
Nova

I should've added Go Launcher to the poll.
I've never used a bad launcher. Apex is my current favorite. My least favorite was Go.
*nvm*
Nova for me, just like how they are showing the initiative

completely stock, Jelly Bean!
When using Samsung, HTC phones you become so jealous of the stock android launcher that it becomes an obsession.
Whilst touchwiz and sense offer some things that are better, as a past/current user of these phones, we just want to speed and compatibility that nexus devices can offer.
I don't think I'll ever root & install a custom rom on my Nexus 7, it's sexy, super fast & smooth & just what I wanted.
Enough to make me also consider a Nexus phone as my next phone too.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I use go launcher ex, not the HD tablet version. The one for the phone just works better for me.
I like the paid version of Nova the best, but if I wanted a free replacement I'd go with Apex.
At the moment I like the stock launcher the best. I can't really seem to get either Nova or Apex to look the way I want them to.
Apex for some reason I can't have 6 rows in landscape mode, because the gap between the icons and the labels is larger than normal that the labels end up vanishing with more than 5 rows in landscape.
Also I don't like how the dock bar rotates with the screen.
Nova launcher seems to have gotten better after the recent update, I can move icons easier now. One cosmetic issue that bugs me though is I've turned off the google search bar, however in landscape mode it still shows the divider bar between where the search bar was and the rest of the screen on the left side. I really wish that could be removed.

Nova is amazing, and blazingly fast. Very clear difference from Apex, which I used for a few days. Sticking with Nova Pro.
I like sslauncher. Different and loved it on my note as well. Just wished had more themes
From the Note to Nexus 7
Stock is great, using Nova to hide apps and sort apps into folders though, and is just as good
Using Nova Prime. Mimics 4.1 quite well and adds more function. No regrets. The reason I purchased Prime is because I already own Widget Locker and I chose to continue my support for the developer.

Should also add Stock as well Not everybody uses a 3rd-party launcher
I am using the Nova for awhile, I am pretty happy with it(fast respond and many theme i can pick ). But I check it usually take around 40 to 50 mb ram usage. So I wonder what you guys using and which one you think is the best?
I've tried a few others. Apex, Go and even the over priced Next 3D launcher. I always go back to Nova.
Next launcher is the choice for me. Very smooth, lots of extras, themes out the wazoo. Also if you use the "Next browser" combined with the last android supported flash player = flawless flash video playback. Just sayn.....
i use action launcher. i haven't found anything as useful as the shutters and covers feature of it.
I've used nova,GO, And the Themer app. I like nova the best so far.
Tappin From My N3
Action launcher hands down. I have used most of them but the typical mundane app drawer is not convenient on a phone like this. Action launcher has very practical and unique features not one other launcher comes close to.
Im using Aviate right now . Pretty neat !

I stick to the sense launcher
The stock sense launcher is great and thats what I use!
I recently found action launcher which I really like. It's very functional and more minimalistic than most other launchers. If that's what your in to. There is a free version. Give it a try.

I stick to Sense. I don't know what it is, but every time I try and switch off of it, I always end up coming back. Even though they change it with every new flagship, I still stick with it. I've used Aviate, and while it's nice, it's just not for me.
I'm on sense right now, using xposed framework and sense 5 toolbox to get a 4.5 home screen. However, I also frequent nova launcher. It just depends on my mood, and I have them both installed pretty much all the time.
I like Trebuchet from AOSP

I visit in Asia most the user use HTC Mobile phone because it has been too many feature that you can use. After Nokia Lumia and I phone big brand that are using.
I use Themer. Wish it had a better drawer, but, I change up my themes so often its still the best option for me.
I use Nova Launcher Prime on all of my Android devices. Just find it to be fast and customizable to my likings
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk
I like Go Launcher for its customization but I really love Nova Launcher. Love it so much I purchased prime. Its really fast and has a fair amount of customization. It also never crashes or gives me any problems. It's nice that a lot of the icon packs work on it as well.
Try Aviate. Pm me with your email I have 1 left

SS Launcher Paid version
I stumbled on SS launcher a couple of years ago when I still had the "EVO 4G". I have not looked back since, it is more flexible than any other I've tried. And I always get comments on it.
Check out Lightning Launcher on the play store.
Google Experience Launcher

Big +1 for Action Launcher. It has a free trial(!) now, even, so there really isn't an excuse to at least give it a whack. It's not perfect for everyone, but if it you can handle its paradigm it works really well. Aviate's also good, but the inability to hide apps (among other things) really killed it for me.
Agreed

I personally use Nova Launcher Prime also, it's never let me down. An customization for the drawer and home screen is cool. Being able to pull app info and uninstall on the home screen is a huge helper at times.

Nova prime. It so flexible yet so much like stock launcher. I love it. I use it on all my android devices
Nova Prime as primary and Apex Launcher as Secondary
Nova launcher prime because it has the coolest name.
Nova Prime is the way to go! Respect to the Dev for constant updates and beta's!

The only gripe I have with Nova Prime is that the Google search bar is just so damn slow to use, takes a long time to open (as it opens the Google app) and the Google now launcher has (obviously) a much faster access to Google search and Google now.
