So what I'm asking for is if anyone knows a way, or a script to make the Moto X use 3G instead of LTE when booting up the phone.
((Currently using LTE ON/OFF for the HTC thunderbolt, doesn't survive a reboot))
LTE isn't always the best option for me so it shouldn't be my default. Thanks in advance!

What about this?
Settings -> More (Wireless and Networks) -> Mobile Networks -> Preferred Type
Change it to 3g from there and then back to LTE if you want later.
Hopefully this helps! Have a good day

I am pretty sure that menu selection is only enabled on the Rogers version of the Moto X (one of the many reasons I really like the Rogers build)
With the AT&T version that has a locked bootloader I am not too sure of other options.

I signed up for AIO Wireless on Friday (Aug 16) here in Houston. Just for that day, I got LTE reception from AIO.
Starting Aug 17 (next day), I am not getting any LTE reception. When I go to Network app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mangelow.network), it displays that I am on WCDMA band. Interesting thing is that I can not change that band.
When I was on AT&T, I was able to move from WCDMA to LTE/GSM/WCDMA and vice versa.
My question is - if there is anyone who is not getting LTE on AIO in Houston/Miami?
Also - any help on getting my phone provisioned to LTE would be great !
You can't change it in your phones network settings or the secret phone menu?

I am on stock AT&T rom (with root and unlocked b/l). I tried *#*#4636#*#* but it is not working from phone app.
There is no other setting to choose band or carrier in settings.
Is there an alternate way to execute secret command?
It sounds like a bad sim card. Also, download an app called lte on/off for thunderbolt. It will take you to the secret settings menu that AT&T blocks access to from the dialpad. It works on phones other than the thunderbolt.

Hmm...but my phone and data (HSDA and HSDA+) are working...
Hmm. Try the phone settings trick from my other comment. It's also possible they are just doing network updates or something.

I tried that without luck..Network app that I used is same as that...may be that's the secret menu that AT&T blocks...which is accessible from Network or LTE ON/OFF app...
Get pimp my rom and under tools there is access hidden menu which will get you there also. You don't have the network mode option under mobile networks?
Sent from my PACMAN MATRIX HD MAXX
It should take you to a testing menu the first of which is phone information. It is the same as you get by dialing *#*#info#*#* if you can get to that menu and it won't let you switch to LTE/GSM/WCDMA, then it probably is a sim issue.

All is well...phone got automatically re-provisioned and now can log on to LTE when available.
One thing to note though, LTE speeds are capped at 6-7 mb!
Thanks anyone who responded.

Is there a way to force HSPA / disable LTE? *#*#4636#*#* doesn't work.
Being in an area that constantly switches between HSPA and LTE is a battery killer and I'd rather be able to simply force HSPA.

There are various apps that allow you to access the same menu as *#*#4636#*#*. The one that i've used is called LTE On/Off for Thunderbolt. It takes you to that menu, and works fine on phones other than the thunderbolt. Select WCDMA Preferred from the list and it goes to HSPA+.

If you have an AT&T Moto X then you don't have CDMA so you shouldn't be able to select that option. Try selecting the WCDMA only or WCDMA preferred option.

Dear All,
i had some issue with my HTC one device. i bought my HTC one model PN07120 and the seller said that it is supporting 4G LTE. in the setting of network i had found GSM / WCDMA / LTE i choose it and it is not working with the 4G LTE. i tried my sim card on other device and 4G working with out any problem. i had also do the APN setting and it is not working.
in my area the coverage is perfect and i use my sim card on another device which is supporting 4G LTE and it works. my provider is Omantel and they using frequency range in 18000 MHz.
however, i had tried some rom to upgrade my device to 4.2.2 jelly been and i successfully upgrade my device and still i had problem with 4G LTE.
i had use RUU to return my device as stock. now it is running on 4.1.2
is my device supporting 4G by knowing the model?
is it possible to have in the setting LTE option and the device not supporting 4G ?
if my device is supporting 4G ,how can i change the carrier frequency on my device?
our country's 4G frequency range is 18000 MHz
my device is making me crazy :crying:
please help me

If you could post your wireless provider information, especially what bands they're on, that still help people dig up the appropriate information.
For the purposes of this thread, I assume when you say 4G you mean LTE, and not HSDPA+

I would hope not either. I love mine, but you could try rooting it and putting a custom Rom on it. There's s chance it could he an issue with your kernel too. And if that doesn't work you can unroot and just send it back.

IIRC Omantel is in the middle east. I'm not sure where you got the phone, but I believe you actually want a stock phone who's MID is PN0710000. This seems to be the appropriate model for Europe/Middle East which has LTE (4G) support for 800/1800/2600.
The PN0712000 supports LTE on 700/AWS. This the the current model I have over here in Canada.
Hope this helps.

Ok so two things.
1. At least once or twice a day my data quits after receiving a call on my moto x, and I have to turn airplane mode on and back off to fix it. Had that issue with 4.2 and 4.4. I never use WiFi as I have unlimited data but it seems similar to your situation
2. My wife has a HTC One GE on AIO and has mentioned a few times that her data takes about 5 minutes to activate after going out of range of WiFi. I just assumed it was her phone but maybe it is an issue with aio.
I spoke with Motorola a few weeks ago about my moto x and they told me to do a master reset, but I never did.

I never get it again after Wi-Fi without reboot. I live 20 min from work and go from there to home with no data most the time. I like aio but not having data is going to kill me. I don't get why it works perfectly fine on the 4.2.2 but not 4.4 even when I ran the leak before official it still didn't work
